S. Kozlov assists in return

News: Thrashers LW Slava Kozlov, who had missed 12 straight games with a head injury, returned to action in Atlanta's season finale Saturday. He assisted in the 1-0 win over the Penguins.
Analysis: This is likely to have been Kozlov's last game for the Thrashers, as he didn't exactly get along with coach John Anderson. He might head to the KHL or could stick around in North America. At best, he will remain a low-end starting Fantasy option in deeper leagues for 2010-11.

Kozlov held out again

News: Thrashers LW Slava Kozlov was a scratch for Friday's game against the Capitals due to a head injury. He has not played in the last twelve games.
Analysis: We wouldn't be surprised if Kozlov remains sidelined the rest of the season, even if he is healthy. He has spent a lot of time in coach John Anderson's doghouse because of his poor offensive output. Kozlov probably could use a change of address in 2010-11 to regain his lost Fantasy appeal.

Kozlov still waiting to return

News: Thrashers LW Slava Kozlov (head) remained on the scratched list for Tuesday's game against the Devils. He has not played in the last eight games.

Hurt Atlanta trio miss Saturday loss

News: Thrashers D Pavel Kubina (upper body), LW Slava Kozlov (head) and C Todd White (upper body) all missed Saturday's OT loss to the Penguins with their various ailments.
Analysis: Kubina is obviously the stud among this group, and his Fantasy owners will be sweating over the next 48 hours hoping that they get some positive news about their must-start elite Fantasy defenseman by the lineup deadline for Fantasy Week 25 (April 4-11). Kozlov has more Fantasy value than White, but both are just low-end Fantasy options in deeper mixed leagues.

Kozlov a scratch Thursday

News: Thrashers LW Slava Kozlov did not plain in Thursday's game against the Capitals due to a head injury. He's sat out six straight contests.
Analysis: Kozlov is making steps toward a return, but it's not like it is going to matter much in Fantasy, thanks to just eight goals and 25 points during 2009-10. He has become a low-end Fantasy option when healthy.

Kozlov absent from Tuesday's lineup

News: Thrashers LW Slava Kozlov (head) did not return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Maple Leafs. He has missed the last five games.
Analysis: Kozlov is making steps toward a return, but it's not like it is going to matter much in Fantasy. He has been in coach John Anderson's doghouse for quite some time, and Atlanta was looking to unload the veteran forward at the trade deadline. Unfortunately, it found no takers. Kozlov has slumped to eight goals and 25 points in 54 games in 2009-10. He has become a low-end Fantasy option when healthy.

Kozlov hasn't recovered from injury

News: Thrashers LW Slava Kozlov missed a fourth straight game on Monday against the Hurricanes with a head injury. Kozlov has missed the last week after getting hit in the face with a puck.
Analysis: Kozlov technically last played on March 16, but he was a healthy scratch for a few games before getting injured. Kozlov has been in coach John Anderson's doghouse for quite some time, and Atlanta was looking to unload the veteran forward at the trade deadline. Unfortunately, it found no takers. Kozlov has slumped to eight goals and 25 points in 54 games in 2009-10. He has become a low-end Fantasy option when healthy.

S. Kozlov to end scratch streak

News: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Thrashers LW Slava Kozlov will finally end his healthy-scratch skid on Friday at Washington.
Analysis: Kozlov's days as a contributing NHL player appear be on the wane, so you might want to drop him now and save yourself the headache of having to deal with him the rest of the season. The Russian veteran has just 23 points in 50 games this season.

S. Kozlov to sit out fifth straight

News: The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that Thrashers LW Slava Kozlov will be a healthy scratch Tuesday for a fifth straight game. “Slava is having a tough year, certainly not the standards of last year," said coach John Anderson. "He will be back in the lineup, it’s just a matter of when, getting the right game so he has the best advantage to come back and star for us."
Analysis: Kozlov's days as a contributing NHL player appear be on the wane, so you might want to drop him now and save yourself the headache of having to deal with him the rest of the season. The Russian veteran has just 23 points in 50 games this season.

Kozlov unsure when scratch skid will end

News: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Thrashers LW Slava Kozlov has not been told when his four-game healthy scratch streak will come to an end.
Analysis: Kozlov should eventually return to the lineup, but he should be kept out of active Fantasy lineups until that happens and he kick starts his offense. The Russian veteran has just 23 points in 50 games this season.

Kozlov remains in press box

News: The Sports Xchange reports Thrashers LW Slava Kozlov sat out his third straight game in Thursday's meeting with the Flyers, a coaching decision that impacted the team's power-play unit. Without Kozlov to set up the plays, the Thrashers have been out of sync and rushing their passes.
Analysis: Atlanta has won only once since Kozlov was sent to the press box, but coach John Anderson is committed to sending a message to his team that no one is safe. Kozlov should eventually return to the lineup, but he should be kept out of active Fantasy lineups until he kick starts his offense.

S. Kozlov a scratch again Thurs.

News: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Thrashers LW Slava Kozlov will be a healthy scratch for a third straight game Thursday.
Analysis: Kozlov's last goal came on Dec. 19, and he has just four assists in his last 15 games. After a stellar 76-point campaign last season, Kozlov isn't even averaging half a point a game this season. You're better off benching the Russian veteran in all leagues until he's back playing and contributing again.

Slava Kozlov, LW, ATL Anderson uses Kozlov to send message

Slava Kozlov

Anderson uses Kozlov to send message

News: The Sports Xchange reports Atlanta coach John Anderson had a simple message for his entire team going into Saturday's game against the Lightning: If you don't play hard, you will watch from the press box. It doesn't matter who you are -- just ask veteran winger Slava Kozlov. In the end, the message was heard, but the decision backfired on Anderson. With Kozlov out of the lineup for the first time in 251 games, Atlanta was without its best offensive threat following a scoreless overtime period. Five different Atlanta players were unable to find the back of the net in the shootout. Kozlov has scored on 27 of 46 (59 percent) shootout attempts in his career, giving him the most shootout goals in NHL history.
Analysis: After making several lineup changes following Thursday's embarrassing 5-2 loss to the Hurricanes, the Thrashers carried the play for most of the game against Tampa Bay, making the loss even harder for Anderson to accept. One thing is certain, expect the coach to reinsert Kozlov into the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Ducks. Kozlov, who has gone 16 games without a goal, has just eight goals this season. While his offensive production has slipped, Anderson is more upset with Kozlov's inconsistent effort and poor defensive play lately. Hopefully, the veteran gets the message. Still, Kozlov is a bad start in Fantasy until he finds his offensive touch.

Kozlov has second two-assist game

News: The Sports Xchange reports Thrashers LW Slava Kozlov picked up two assists in Tuesday's win over the Senators, giving him 13 helpers on the season. As skilled of a passer as Kozlov is, it's just his second two-assist performance of the season. His previous two-assist game came in the team's Oct. 17 win over Montreal.
Analysis: Kozlov had no points in his previous nine games before getting on the board Tuesday. He has had a very disappointing campaign in 2009-10 and it's been a real stretch for Kozlov to put together a solid offensive run. He still has low-end Fantasy appeal.

Kozlov scores in second straight

News: Thrashers LW Slava Kozlov scored in a second straight game Wednesday as Atlanta fell to the Panthers.
Analysis: Kozlov is way behind the offensive pace he set last season when he broke 70 points. Until Kozlov really heats up, he is a low-end Fantasy start.

Kozlov has first goal in six games

News: Thrashers LW Slava Kozlov scored a goal during Monday's game against the Rangers. Kozlov staked Atlanta to a 1-0 lead by scoring a power-play goal with 3:19 left in the first period. It was his second point in as many games and first goal in six appearances.
Analysis: Kozlov has 12 points in his last 21 games and has been playing better since November. However, he is still way behind the offensive pace he set last season when he broke 70 points. Until Kozlov really heats up, he is a low-end Fantasy start.

Kozlov gets two points in loss

News: Thrashers LW Slava Kozlov scored and assisted in Sunday's OT loss to the Lightning.
Analysis: Kozlov now has five points in his last six games after putting up the same amount of points in his first 15 games this season. Hopefully he'll continue to pick up the pace, but until he does he remains only worth starting in deeper leagues.

S. Kozlov finally scores first goal

News: Thrashers LW Slava Kozlov scored his first goal of the season in Sunday's win over the Oilers.
Analysis: Man, talk about a drought. Kozlov finally got on the board Sunday after 16 games of futility. Maybe he'll relax now and start lighting the lamp on a consistent basis, but until he does, leave him benched in all but deeper Fantasy formats.

Slava Kozlov

Kozlov still searching for goal

News: The Sports Xchange reports Thrashers LW Slava Kozlov remains scoreless in 13 games this season. A line change for Saturday's game against the Islanders didn't help end his scoreless streak. Kozlov was moved to Atlanta's third line with Marty Reasoner and Colby Armstrong and managed just two shots on goal.
Analysis: Kozlov had an awesome bounce-back season in 2008-09 after he had a few surgeries to help correct some health issues. As far as we know, Kozlov is healthy and simply not producing. He has the ability to post some solid numbers, but you should probably keep Kozlov reserved in Fantasy until he gets on track.

Suspension coming for Kozlov?

News: The Sports Xchange reports Thrashers LW Slava Kozlov might get an unexpected night off soon. The NHL could decide to suspend Kozlov for a dangerous hit-from-behind on Montreal's Scott Gomez in overtime of Tuesday's shootout loss. Gomez recovered from the hit in time to score during the shootout as Montreal snapped a five-game losing streak.
Analysis: Kozlov was hit with 15 penalty minutes Tuesday for his hit, and if he is suspended, it would just add further insult to his already horrid start. Kozlov hasn't looked much like the player that totaled 76 points in 2008-09 and that is frustrating Fantasy owners. He has the talent to turn his season around, so keep Kozlov on your roster if you can.

Kozlov gets 15 penalty minutes

News: Atlanta LW Slava Kozlov was on the ice for just over 15 minutes in Tuesday's 2-1 shootout loss to Montreal. He was in the penalty box almost as long. Kozlov picked up 15 penalty minutes as he recorded a 10-minute game misconduct and a 5-minute checking from behind penalty all in the overtime period.
Analysis: This was the first time Kozlov spent time in the penalty box this season but he made it count. Kozlov had failed to record a point in his first four games before breaking out with a two-assist game Saturday against the Sabres. Continue to think of Kozlov as a No. 4 or 5 Fantasy option.

Kozlov has two-assist game

News: Atlanta LW Slava Kozlov had two assists on Saturday in a 4-2 win over the Sabres. Kozlov's first assist came on a power play scored by Todd White 7:53 into the third period that proved to be the game-winner. His second assist was 16:43 into the third period on a goal scored by Maxim Afinogenov that put the game out of reach.
Analysis: Kozlov had failed to record a point in the team's first four games before breaking out with a two-assist game Saturday against the Sabres. Continue to think of Kozlov as a No. 4 or 5 Fantasy option.

Kozlov has point in 13 of 14

News: Thrashers LW Slava Kozlov scored a goal, tallied an assist and finished at plus-1 during Sunday's game against the Capitals. Kozlov brought the Thrashers within one with 44 seconds left as he beat Jose Theodore with an unassisted wrist shot. Kozlov has managed at least one point in 13 of 14 games. He has eight goals and 12 assists in that span.
Analysis: Despite the Thrashers being far out of the playoff race, Kozlov has been his more productive in the final weeks of the season. He has 74 points this season and has looked great since having a few offseason surgeries to fix some health issues. Despite a poor plus-minus rating (minus-11), Kozlov is worth a look as a No. 3 or No. 4 Fantasy forward.

S. Kozlov scorching in March

News: Thrashers LW Slava Kozlov scored and assisted in Saturday's win over the Lightning. He now has 12 points in 10 March games.
Analysis: Kozlov has been red hot over the last few weeks and is having a nice bounce-back season following a few offseason surgeries. Kozlov is worth using as a No. 4 or No. 5 Fantasy forward.

News: Thrashers LW Slava Kozlov scored a goal, tallied an assist and finished at minus-2 during Friday's game against the Red Wings. Kozlov notched his 21st goal on a power play 10:21 into the third. He has three goals and seven assists during a seven-game point streak.
Analysis: Kozlov has been red hot over the last few weeks with five goals and 16 assists in his last 19 games. The veteran forward has had a nice bounce-back season following a few offseason surgeries. Kozlov is worth using as a No. 4 or No. 5 Fantasy forward.
