Islanders Sign Conacher

News: The Islanders have signed Cory Conacher to a one-year, $600,000 deal, Newsday's Arthur Staple reports.
Analysis: Though he's now with his fourth team since the start of the 2012-13 season, Cory Conacher has displayed some offensive spark at times at the NHL level since then, thus making his progress with the Isles worth tracking.

Sabres' Conacher Headed For Free Agency

News: Cory Conacher was not given a qualifying offer by the Sabres, WGR550 reports.
Analysis: Cory Conacher, who recorded six points in 19 games with Buffalo this past season after being claimed on waivers from Ottawa, is now set to become an unrestricted free agent.

Sabres Need To Decide On Conacher

News: The Sabres will need to determine whether they wish to make a qualifying offer to Cory Conacher, a restricted free agent, The Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Cory Conacher was picked out of the scrap heap after the Senators placed him on waivers in early March. While he showed some signs of promise for the Sabres, he took too many penalties and didn't score enough, which means he fit in pretty well with the rest of the team. Other than an incredible start with the Lightning last season, Conacher has struggled to score at the NHL level, and his small size doesn't really help. We'll see if the Sabres make that relatively inexpensive qualifying offer of $874,125, but it looks like Conacher would be slotted for a bottom-six role if that's the case, with an outside chance to work his way up from there.

Conacher's Two Goals Carry Sabres

News: Cory Conacher scored two goals -- one on the power play -- and assisted on another in Thursday's 3-1 win over Edmonton.
Analysis: Cory Conacher accounted for most of the Buffalo offense in this one, snapping a three-game scoreless skid. While he has a respectable-looking five points in seven games with Buffalo, obviously three of those points came on Thursday, and against a bad team in Edmonton.

Sabres' Conacher Notches Assist Against Carolina

News: Cory Conacher now has two points in three games since joining the Sabres.
Analysis: Cory Conacher has quickly become a fixture on the top line with Tyler Ennis and Drew Stafford. Despite the Sabres' poor record and constant tinkering with the lineup throughout the season, interim head coach Ted Nolan seems to have found a winning combo. The trio has become the de facto top line, leading the team in minutes played each night. Though it is a little undersized, the speed and skill is undeniable. If there are any Sabres worth keeping an eye on for some offensive production, it's those three players. They've combined for eight points in their past three games.

Sabres' Conacher Tallies Assist

News: Cory Conacher, playing his first game with the Sabres, played 15:02 and picked up an assist.
Analysis: Cory Conacher was waived by the Senators, but playing for Buffalo, there is certainly the opportunity for playing time. He also played 3:28 on the power-play, which is encouraging.

Conacher Skates With Sabres On Sunday

News: Cory Conacher, who was dealing with immigration isssues, was with the team on the ice for their morning skate Sunday, Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Cory Conacher was claimed off waivers at the trade deadline and is expected to be one of the top-six starting forwards for Buffalo. He is expected to play Sunday night against the Blackhawks.

Sabres' Conacher Delayed By Immigration Issues

News: Cory Conacher has been delayed by immigration issues and will now have to wait until Sunday to make his Sabres debut, reports Paul Hamilton of WGR 550.
Analysis: Claimed off waivers at the trade deadline, Cory Conacher is expected to serve as a top-six forward for the hapless Sabres. His late arrival shouldn't change much, other than the obvious fact that he won't be playing in Friday's game.

Conacher Expected To Make Sabres Debut Friday

News: Cory Conacher, who was claimed off waivers at the trade deadline, will make his Sabres debut Friday, reports Paul Hamilton of WGR 550.
Analysis: The Sabres intend Cory Conacher to play a top-six role on the team for the time being. The feisty forward has speed to burn, but has been inconsistent this season. Last year, when he was swapped for Ben Bishop, Conacher had a very high shooting percentage, which certainly boosted his production. However, it's become apparent the Canisius College alum is more of a third-line player on a better team. Still, the Sabres would like to see what he can do. His fantasy value is minimal at the moment, but could increase by the end of the season.

Sabres' Conacher Won't Play Thursday

News: Cory Conacher will not make his Sabres debut Thursday against the Lightning.
Analysis: Cory Conacher won't be joining the Sabres until Friday's game against the Panthers as his new team gives him some time to adjust to his new surroundings. Management has given every indication that Conacher will have the opportunity to claim a top-six role right away, so it might be worthwhile to monitor his production with the Sabres to see whether he can recapture the promise he showed with the Lightning in 2012-13.

Sabres Claim Conacher

News: The Sabres claimed Cory Conacher off waivers from the Senators on Wednesday, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports.
Analysis: Cory Conacher was leading all rookies in scoring last season before being traded to the Senators in exchange for goalie Ben Bishop. He's only managed four goals and 16 assists in 60 games this season, but he's shown that he does have scoring ability, and maybe a change of scenery will help him get things figured out. Conacher has been inconsistent this season, and had inflated value last year with a high shooting percentage. Now that the numbers have evened out a little, Conacher projects more to be a third-line depth scoring option. But since the Sabres don't have many options at this point, Conacher will certainly get an audition in a scoring role. This could be a precursor to more moves, as general manager Tim Murray has fielded calls for a quarter of his players.

Sens Waive Conacher

News: Cory Conacher was placed on waivers Tuesday, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Analysis: Acquired from the Lightning last April for Vezina Trophy contender Ben Bishop, Cory Conacher was only able to produce 20 points in 59 games for the Senators, making the deal laughably one-sided in hindsight. Conacher is still just 24 years old, and there's a good chance a team could claim him off waivers in an attempt to rehabilitate his value. He'll still be available for Tuesday's game against the Oilers while he waits to get claimed or clear waivers.

Sens' Conacher Playing On Fourth Line

News: Cory Conacher is expected to skate on the fourth line Monday against the Penguins.
Analysis: Stephane Da Costa will return to the lineup to join Cory Conacher and Erik Condra on the fourth line. Conacher has four goals and 13 assists in 53 games this season, but has seen a big drop off in production since being traded from the Lightning in exchange for Ben Bishop in 2013.

Sens' Conacher Digging In

News: Cory Conacher had a pair of assists in Thursday's 4-2 win over Winnipeg.
Analysis: Cory Conacher (plus-1) was all over the place in the win, registering three shots on goal, two PIM and continues to help lead team forwards in power play time. It's also his second multi-point game in less than a week. Certainly, this is more of what the team had in mind when they traded blossoming netminder Ben Bishop to the Tampa Bay Lightning for the 24-year-old. Conacher has two goals and four assists in his last five games.

Sens' Conacher: First Multi-Point Game This Year

News: Cory Conacher notched his first multi-point game of the season when he scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's win over Boston.
Analysis: Two words -- sophomore slump. The Sens clearly thought he was top-six material when they sent Ben Bishop away in trade. There's still a chance he can fit that bill, but he's just not a reliable source of fantasy production right now.

Promotion Pays Off For Sens' Conacher

News: Cory Conacher, freshly promoted to Ottawa's second line alongside Bobby Ryan and Kyle Turris, picked up an assist in Thursday's win over Buffalo.
Analysis: He got on the scoreboard pretty early with that first-period helper, but was fairly quiet thereafter. The Sens are still waiting for him to catch fire, as are his fantasy owners. Have a backup plan in case the goes cold instead.

Sens' Conacher Skating On Third Line

News: Cory Conacher is expected to skate on the third line with Mika Zibanejad and Milan Michalek against the Lightning on Thursday.
Analysis: Cory Conacher was expected to compete for a top-six spot entering the season, but has been a major underachiever so far. With just two goals and three assists in 28 games, he'll need to pick up the production if he wants another shot at playing on a scoring line. With Ben Bishop -- for whom Conacher was traded for last season -- in net for the Bolts on Thursday night, the speedy winger should have some extra motivation to break out of his slump.

Struggles Continue For Ottawa's Conacher

News: Despite skating a season-high 17:21 in Tuesday's loss to the Flyers, Cory Conacher failed to record a point for the sixth straight game and went minus-1 with two shots on goal.
Analysis: Cory Conacher didn't play badly, which is why he got so many minutes after skating less than 10 in four of his last five games, but he's been stunningly ineffective on the offensive end this year, totaling a miserable three points in 18 contests.

Sens' Conacher Having Productive Preseason

News: Cory Conacher scored Ottawa's lone goal in Thursday's preseason loss to Montreal, his third straight game with a marker.
Analysis: He was fairly quiet after coming over to Ottawa last year for Ben Bishop, but Cory Conacher's attracting attention again this preseason, showing the form that made him an AHL All-Star and an NHL rookie sensation with Tampa Bay.

Sens' Conacher Back In Lineup Friday

News: Cory Conacher is back in the lineup for Friday's Game 5 against the Penguins, Ian Mendes of Sportsnet East reports.
Analysis: After he was a healthy scratch for Game 4, Cory Conacher will be available for the Senators with the series on the line. Conacher compiled 29 points over 47 games with the Senators and Lightning this season, but has gone cold in this second-round series, failing to show up on the scoresheet in the first three games of the series.

Sens' Conacher Likely Out Wednesday

News: Cory Conacher is expected to be a healthy scratch for Wednesday's Game 4.
Analysis: If Cory Conacher does sit, Mark Stone will take his place alongside Jason Spezza and Milan Michalek on the Sens' top line. Stone recorded a line of 15/23/38 in 54 games with AHL Binghamton this season, but failed to scratch the scoresheet in four NHL contests.

Sens' Conacher Scores Two In Series Clincher

News: Cory Conacher scored an even-strength goal and a power-play goal in Thursday's series-clinching win over Montreal.
Analysis: Cory Conacher scored three goals in the series, all in the last two games, and now he and the Senators will move on.

Conacher Debuts For Sens

News: Cory Conacher made his Ottawa debut Friday night and while he didn't factor into the scoring, he did finish plus-2 on the night. His line of Jakob Silfverberg and Mika Zibanejad produced both Senators' goals.
Analysis: He skated 13:57, but that will likely go up in future games. The all-rookie line looked sharp Friday night.

Sens' Conacher On All-Rookie Line

News: Cory Conacher is expected to skate on a line with Jakob Silfverberg and Mika Zibanejad on Friday against the Sabres, the Ottawa Citizen reports.
Analysis: The all-rookie line will look to provide a spark to a struggling Senators offense which ranks 22nd in the NHL with a 2.42 goals-per-game average. Cory Conacher automatically took over the team points lead when he came over from high-scoring Tampa Bay.

Bolts Deal Conacher To Ottawa

News: Cory Conacher was traded along with a fourth-round pick to the Senators for Ben Bishop, reports The Ottawa Sun's Bruce Garrioch.
Analysis: After getting off to a red-hot start this year, Cory Conacher has slumped, and the Bolts ended up making the move to bring in another quality goalie to address their situation in goal. The diminutive winger likely find a spot in Ottawa's top six. His long-term upside is huge, so pay attention in keeper formats.
