Bolts' Johnson Will Not Need Surgery

News: Tyler Johnson's broken right wrist will not require surgery, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: Tyler Johnson and the Lightning didn't think the injury would require surgery at the end of the season, but this news is nevertheless encouraging. He was a stud for Tampa Bay this year, registering 29 goals and 43 assists for a total of 72 points in 77 games with the Bolts in 2014-15. He should be ready for the start of Tampa Bay's training camp in September, and will remain a top fantasy commodity in 2015-16.

Bolts' Johnson Dealt With Wrist Injury

News: Tyler Johnson said he played through a broken wrist suffered early in the Stanley Cup Finals against the Blackhawks, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: That might help explain Tyler Johnson's three-game scoreless streak to end the series after he was exactly a point-per-game player for the first 23 games of the playoffs. Give him credit for playing through the injury, and now he'll have a few months to heal up before the start of next season.

Bolts' Johnson Nets League-Leading 12th Goal

News: Tyler Johnson scored his league leading 12th goal of the postseason in Saturday's 4-3 win in Game 2 of the Cup Final against the Blackhawks.
Analysis: It was his first goal since Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals. But just like in each of the Bolts' previous three series, Tyler Johnson and the Triplets lead the offensive charge in Game 2. Johnson sits on top of the NHL postseason scoring list with 22 points and certainly could stay in that spot if he can keep up the offense.

Bolts' Johnson, Rest Of Triplets, Stuck In Slump

News: Tyler Johnson still leads the NHL in playoff goals, but he has been stuck on 12 since Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals. And the Triplet Line -- Johnson, Nikita Kucherov and Ondrej Palat -- have combined for just three goals and eight points over the last five games.
Analysis: Tyler Johnson is a tough guy, but he took a nasty slash to the ribs from the Rangers' Kevin Hayes and was absolutely flattened by Brent Seabrook in Game 1 against the Hawks. The Triplets Line was held to a very quiet two shots in Game 1. And even half of those eight combined points came off two goals in garbage time in that 7-3 Game 6 loss to New York. Maybe a couple days off between games will recharge the batteries -- these guys have been the drivers of Game 2 bounce-backs against the Wings, Habs and Rangers.

Bolts' Johnson Takes Postseason Scoring Lead

News: Tyler Johnson dished out two assists in Tuesday's Game 6 loss to the Rangers, giving him 20 points in the playoffs.
Analysis: That's good for tops in the league, one point ahead of his linemate Nikita Kucherov and Anaheim's Ryan Getzlaf (who's played five fewer games). Tyler Johnson's dozen goals easily lead the playoffs, so it's nice to see him balance out his stat line with a couple helpers, although they both came in garbage time.

Bolts' Johnson At The Center Of Scoring Again

News: Tyler Johnson bolstered his case for the Conn Smythe Trophy again Wednesday night, producing a goal and assist in a 6-5 overtime win over the Rangers in Game 3.
Analysis: Tyler Johnson has rattled off 12 goals and 18 points in his 16 postseason games to date, with his Triplets line causing plenty of headaches for opposing defenses. The Rangers have had no answers for Johnson through the first three games, and could be in trouble with the two teams meeting up again in Tampa on Friday night.

Johnson's Hat Trick Powers Bolts To Game 2 Win

News: Tyler Johnson recorded a hat trick -- scoring short-handed, on the power play and at even strength -- in Monday's Game 2 win over the Rangers.
Analysis: With the Rangers on a 5-on-3 advantage, Tyler Johnson capitalized on a misplay to open up the scoring, then put the Bolts back up for good later in the period after the Rangers tied it. He's been tremendous all postseason, as his 16 points are tops in the league in the playoffs.

Bolts' Johnson Nets Winner

News: Tyler Johnson scored the game-winning goal Wednesday with 1.1 seconds remaining to lift the Lightning to a 2-1 victory over the Canadiens. Tampa now has a 3-0 series lead.
Analysis: It was his eighth goal of the postseason and 11th point in 10 games. And those eight markers lead all skaters in the NHL playoffs. MVP (so far)? Yup.

Bolts' Johnson Keeps Rolling In Game 2

News: Tyler Johnson added two power-play helpers in Sunday's Game 2 win over the Canadiens.
Analysis: Tyler Johnson has been incredible in the playoffs as he's now up to 10 points in nine games, including four multi-point efforts. While he couldn't lead to his playoff-leading seven goals in Sunday's win, he was still able to turn in another productive night as he helped chip in on a power play unit that netted four goals. Keep him rolling as the series shifts back to Tampa on Wednesday.

Bolts' Johnson Kicks Off Round 2 With A Bang

News: Tyler Johnson scored his league-high seventh goal of the playoffs in Friday's Game 1 win over Montreal.
Analysis: Tyler Johnson is having an outstanding postseason and now has eight points in eight games. He's scored five goals in his last five games and is sporting a tidy plus-4 rating. With Steven Stamkos going through a slump, Johnson has stepped up and put the team on his back. Look for the 24-year-old to continue his dominance as the series wears on.

Bolts' Johnson Nets Two In Win

News: Tyler Johnson potted two goals in Monday's Game 6 win over the Red Wings.
Analysis: Tyler Johnson has been held off the scoresheet entirely in the Bolts' three losses in the series, but he's been incredible in the other three contests. The center has potted a pair of goals in each of the wins and is up to seven points in the series. He dealt with an upper-body injury toward the end of the season, but has shown no lingering effects whatsoever as the playoffs roll on.

Bolts' Johnson: Three Points, Including Two Goals

News: Tyler Johnson scored twice, including the winner in overtime, and added an assist in a 3-2 win over the Red Wings on Thursday night. He's now tied for second in postseason goals (four) and tied for third in points (five).
Analysis: So much for a slowdown -- this diminutive forward is red hot. He'll get Conn Smythe consideration if the Bolts make it through the East. Tyler Johnson's just that good.

Bolts' Johnson Scores Twice

News: Tyler Johnson notched two goals in Saturday's Game 2 win over Detroit. He had six shots on net.
Analysis: His second goal, which came in the last minute of the second period, drove the score up to 4-0 and knocked starter Petr Mrazek from the net. His great season continues.

Tampa's Johnson Nets Winner In Three-Point Night

News: Tyler Johnson scored two goals, including the overtime winner on the power play, in a 4-3 victory over the Devils on Thursday night. He now has five points (three goals, two assists) in his last two games.
Analysis: He's now at 29 goals and 72 points on the season. And those 72 points tie him with Steven Stamkos for the team lead. It's an impressive total (so far) for a second-year player.

Johnson Gets Goal, Assist In Bolts' Win

News: Tyler Johnson picked up a goal and an assist in Saturday's win over Florida.
Analysis: He'd missed three games, but it was clear he hadn't missed a beat. Get him back in there if he's been on your bench.

Johnson Looks Set To Go For Bolts

News: Tyler Johnson, who's missed the last three games with an upper-body injury, is on the ice as expected for Saturday's pregame warmups, Erik Erlandsson of The Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: The top-20 scorer will return to his spot on the Bolts' second line, so feel free to activate him right away.

Bolts' Johnson Expected Back Saturday

News: Tyler Johnson (upper body) took part in Saturday's morning skate and is expected to play later in the evening against the Panthers, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Coach Jon Cooper suggested earlier in the week that Tyler Johnson was questionable at best to suit up Saturday, but it sounds like the center made significant progress over the last couple of days to perhaps talk his way into the lineup. In addition to skating Saturday, Johnson able to get in a practice Friday without incident. He'll meet with the training and coaching staffs later in the afternoon for an additional evaluation, but that looks to be just be a formality at this point. Fantasy players should tentatively count on having Johnson available Saturday.

Bolts' Johnson Skates Friday

News: Tyler Johnson (upper body) skated during an optional practice Friday, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Tyler Johnson is still expected to miss Saturday's game against the Panthers, but his presence on the ice Friday offers encouragement that he'll be able to play again next week. He'll likely try to skate a few more times before making a possible return to the lineup next Thursday against the Devils.

Bolts' Johnson Likely Out Next Two Games

News: Coach Jon Cooper said Tyler Johnson has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Senators, and is unlikely to play Saturday against the Panthers, too, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: After Tyler Johnson missed the Bolts' previous two games, there was some optimism the center might be able to play Thursday after he was on the ice in full gear during the team's morning skate. Johnson was able to take part in line rushes and participated in penalty-kill drills, but the team determined that he needed more practice time to demonstrate that he's fully healthy. With Cooper skeptical of Johnson's chances of playing Saturday, the 26-year-old will aim to be ready for the Bolts' final two regular-season games next week.

Bolts' Johnson Out A Second Straight Game

News: Coach Jon Cooper said Tyler Johnson (upper body) would miss Tuesday's game against the Maple Leafs, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: Though Tyler Johnson will sit for a second straight contest, Cooper suggested the center could be available for the final two games of the Bolts' road trip, which will take the team to Ottawa on Thursday for its next match. Johnson should continue to be viewed as day-to-day, but as soon as his return is formally announced, be sure to plug him back into your lineup immediately.

News: Tyler Johnson (upper body) will miss Monday's game against the Canadiens, NHL.com reports.

Bolts' Johnson Beginning To Slump

News: Tyler Johnson provided an assist in Sunday's win over the Bruins, giving him his first point in five games.
Analysis: It marked the longest scoring drought of the season for Tyler Johnson, who remains on track to reach the 70-point mark despite his swoon in March. While Johnson has already surpassed even the most optimistic of preseason projections, fantasy owners who have reaped the benefits all season may have to think long and hard about sitting the center during the fantasy playoffs. During his last five games, he's only put 11 shots on net, while seeing a slight reduction in minutes from his season average of 17:18 TOI.

Bolts' Johnson Nets Winner, Streak at Seven Games

News: Tyler Johnson scored the game's only goal in overtime to lift the Lightning over the Canadiens on Tuesday night.
Analysis: He grabbed his own rebound and put it in off a defender's skate. The point extended his scoring streak to seven games and nine points, including three goals. Tyler Johnson's longest scoreless streak this season is just three games, so his consistency has been remarkable. And at this point, he's leading the team in scoring and on track for about 80 points. Not bad for an undrafted sophomore, eh?

Point Streak Hits Six For Bolts' Johnson

News: Tyler Johnson extended his point streak to six games with an assist in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Stars.
Analysis: Tyler Johnson has been rolling all season, so scoring streaks like that are commonplace these days. His shot attempts have begun to dwindle a bit, but the Bolts have enough playmakers around him to prop up his assist totals even if his shooting percentage takes a dive at some point. The 24-year-old has 64 points in 65 games, giving him a top-10 spot on the NHL's scoring list.
