Bolts' Johnson Is An Assist Machine

News: Tyler Johnson dished out another two assists in Friday's win over the Jets, extending his point streak to five games.
Analysis: Tyler Johnson now has a goal and seven points in eight games this season, to go with a plus-4 rating. The second-line center has recorded an impressive 22 shots on goal, while averaging 17:45 of ice time. As a top-six forward in Tampa Bay, there is no reason he can't put up another 50-point season in 2014-15.

Bolts' Johnson: Assist In Four Straight Games

News: Tyler Johnson assisted on Ondrej Palat's game-winning overtime goal Tuesday against the Flames.
Analysis: That's four consecutive games with an assist for Tyler Johnson, who has also compiled 14 shots on goal during that span. The points should continue to trickle in steadily while he remains locked into a top-six role.

Bolts' Johnson Gets PPG Marker

News: Tyler Johnson notched a power-play goal in Thursday's OT win over the Panthers.
Analysis: The little spark plug is coming off a Calder trophy nomination and he looks to prove that wasn't a fluke. He could provide sleeper value, but won't wait on picking him up -- he won't be on the wire long.

Bolts' Johnson Inks Three-Year, $10 Mil Deal

News: Tyler Johnson, who recently received a Calder Memorial Trophy nomination for top rookie, has signed a three-year, $10 million contract with the Lightning. He was slated to be a restricted free agent on July 1.
Analysis: He set a Bolt rookie record with 24 goals this season and he flourished on the team's top line. He also looked sharp at the recent World Championships, leading Team USA with six goals.

Bolts' Johnson Gets Calder Nom

News: Tyler Johnson was named a finalist for the Calder trophy for the NHL's top rookie.
Analysis: Tyler Johnson tied fellow nominee Nathan MacKinnon for the rookie goal-scoring lead (24). And his 50 points were good for third among NHL rookies behind MacKinnon and fellow Bolt rookie and Calder nominee, Ondrej Palat.

Bolts' Johnson: Hits 50 Points With Goal, Assist

News: Tyler Johnson scored a goal and added an assist in Thursday's 4-2 win over Philadelphia.
Analysis: The points push him to the 50-point mark -- a huge leap for the young forward. He's a good one ... and a good keeper.

Bolts' Johnson: Two More Assists

News: Tyler Johnson picked up two helpers Thursday in a 5-4 win over the Senators -- his second consecutive two-point game.
Analysis: The little firecracker has 11 points in his last 11 games and is part of a one-two rookie punch with Ondrej Palat in Tampa. We want to see him replicate this effort next season to say he's for real, but little guys have a way of excelling in Tampa. Right now, he's a must-roll.

Tampa's Johnson: Five Goals In Last Eight Games

News: Tyler Johnson scored a goal and added an assist in Wednesday's win over Toronto. The speedy rookie has seven points, including five goals, in his last eight games.
Analysis: The goal was a bit controversial -- Tyler Johnson interfered with Tim Gleason at the Leafs' blue line, but no penalty was called. Johnson then notched the goal, leaving the Leafs outraged. Johnson has been a pleasant surprise this season and is one of the top rookie scorers in the league.

Bolts' Johnson: Shorthanded Monster

News: Tyler Johnson notched a shorthanded goal Monday against Phoenix. His point streak stands at four games and four points, including three goals. Two of those goals and the assist have come shorthanded.
Analysis: Speed kills, and that's what this guy has. He completely turned the defender inside out (the guy got so twisted around he ended up on his butt) and then roofed it. Tyler Johnson sits third in rookie scoring this season with 41 points, including 20 goals. The next Mighty Mite? Maybe.

Bolts' Johnson: Scores Shorthanded

News: Tyler Johnson scored a shorthanded goal in Thursday's loss to Buffalo.
Analysis: He has a goal in each of his last two games and 19 over all on the season. This talented young player may see his role increase now that Marty St. Louis has left, but his best will come in future seasons.

Lightning's Johnson: Game-Time Decision

News: Tyler Johnson (foot) is a game-time decision for Tuesday's game against the Blues, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Tyler Johnson was not on the ice for the team's morning skate Tuesday, with the team suggesting that the forward's absence on that front was a maintenance deal.

Bolts' Johnson (Foot) Nets PP Goal

News: Tyler Johnson (foot) returned to action Tuesday against St. Louis and scored a power-play goal. He also finished minus-2 in 20:34.
Analysis: It's his first goal in eight games and first since the end of January. The rookie has slowed a little of late, but he's played well enough to retain a role in the top six once Steven Stamkos returns from injury.

Bolts' Johnson To Play Tuesday

News: Tyler Johnson (foot) will play Tuesday against the Blues, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: After completing the pregame warmups uninhibited, Tyler Johnson will suit up for the Bolts without missing any action. He'll presumably be set to play close to his usual 19 minutes of action.

Bolts' Johnson Will Play Thursday

News: Tyler Johnson (foot) will play Thursday, reports the Tampa Bay Times.
Analysis: Great news for his owners -- this little guy has been one of the best rookies in the league this year. Make sure you have him active.

Bolts' Johnson Back At Practice Monday

News: Tyler Johnson (foot) was on the ice for Monday's practice, Damian Cristodero of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: Tyler Johnson was limited to skating on his own when the Lightning reconvened last week, but it looks like he'll be fine to play Thursday against the Predators, barring a setback in his recovery along the way.

Bolts' Johnson Skates Friday

News: Tyler Johnson (foot) skated lightly on his own Friday, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: The rookie is still moving around a little gingerly after taking a puck off his foot in a Feb. 4 game vs. the Wild, but he doesn't anticipate on missing any action out of the break. Look for him to return to practice at some point early next week, which would confirm his health heading into the Bolts' next game Thursday against the Predators.

Bolts' Johnson Misses Practice With Bruised Foot

News: Tyler Johnson missed Wednesday's practice with a bruised left foot, Damian Cristodero of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: The rookie apparently came down with the injury shortly before the Olympic break, so it looks like the Bolts are just giving him some added rest with nearly a week to go before play resumes. It's probably nothing for fantasy owners to get worried about unless the injury lingers into next week.

Bolts' Johnson Second In Rookie Scoring

News: Tyler Johnson is second only to Colorado's Nathan McKinnon in rookie scoring. He has 17 goals and 18 assists.
Analysis: Like teammate Marty St. Louis, Tyler Johnson has been told he's too small to succeed in pro hockey. And like St. Louis, Johnson has proven everyone wrong. Both have remarkably similar compete levels and work ethics. He's off to a great start to his career and he'll be a valuable fantasy asset for years if his career arc even comes remotely close to that of Mighty Mite. Keeper leaguers should take note.

Bolts' Johnson Nets Trick

News: Tyler Johnson tallied a hat trick Saturday in a 5-2 win over the Avalanche. He now has a five-game, eight-point (four goals, four assists) scoring streak on the go.
Analysis: He's also plus-8 in that span. The kid has been a brilliant fit with Marty St. Louis, so fingers crossed he gets a chance to continue his offensive excellence once Steven Stamkos returns. Interestingly enough, he played against fellow rookie stud Nathan MacKinnon, whose offensive output is almost a mirror image of Tyler Johnson's. This little guy should be considered a possible Calder nominee.

Johnson Excelling On Tampa's Top Line

News: Tyler Johnson scored a shorthanded goal in Thursday's shootout win over the Senators. It's his first goal in seven games, but he's on a four-game, five-point scoring streak.
Analysis: Since Dec. 23, Tyler Johnson has at least a point in 12 of his last 15 games and 13 points (five goals, eight assists) overall. He's become a fantasy revelation centering Martin St. Louis' line, but it remains to be seen what will happen to him when Steven Stamkos returns. For now, use him well. But watch the Stamkos situation very carefully.

Bolts' Johnson Tied For Second In Rookie Scoring

News: Tyler Johnson is currently tied for second in the rookie scoring race with the Rangers' Chris Kreider. He has 30 points in 50 games.
Analysis: He's a great little playmaker and has elite vision, and that combination has served him well as the pivot between Martin St. Louis and Ondrej Palat. He's starting to become relevant in the Calder discussion and delivers solid value in many fantasy formats.

Bolts' Johnson: Points In Last Eight of 10 Games

News: Tyler Johnson recorded an assist in Monday's loss to Columbus. He now has a point in each of his last three games and a point in eight of his last 10. He's also plus-7 in those 10 games.
Analysis: He has become a solid secondary scoring option in Tampa and on your fantasy roster. He's still available in some formats and should be considered for a pickup.

Tyler Johnson

Bolts' Johnson: Calder Consideration?

News: Tyler Johnson scored his 11th goal of the season in Tampa Bay's win over Vancouver on Wednesday night. The goal extended his point streak to four games.
Analysis: He has 22 points in 40 games and is one of the more effective rookies in the league right now. His keeper value is climbing, but it may ultimately limited to the 65-70 point range. It may be worth leveraging this output into a tidy return in keeper formats.

Bolts' Johnson On Three-Game Streak

News: Tyler Johnson's point streak stands at three games and three points (two goals, one assist) after picking up his 10th goal of the season in Sunday's loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: Check your wire -- he can help, particularly if you don't have positional requirements and can roll him at forward instead of center. Just remember he's likely a short-term activation.

Bolts' Johnson: Tied For Second In Rookie Chase

News: Tyler Johnson picked up an assist in Saturday's shootout loss to the Canadiens. He now has 20 points (nine goals, 11 assists) in 38 games.
Analysis: So don't look now, but Tyler Johnson has quietly moved into a three-way tie with Nathan McKinnon and Chris Kreider for second in the rookie scoring chase. He's the least-heralded of the freshman class, but could be in the hunt for some hardware at season's end.
