Bolts' Johnson A Game-Time Decision Saturday

News: Tyler Johnson (illness) will be a game-time decision Saturday against the Islanders, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Tyler Johnson, who missed Friday's match with the stomach flu, seems to have better odds of participating in Saturday's contest after taking part in the team's optional skate in the morning. The Bolts will assess his health closer to pregame warmups before rendering a verdict on his status for the showdown with the Islanders.

Bolts' Johnson Will Not Play Friday

News: Tyler Johnson (illness) will not play Friday against the Devils, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports.

Bolts' Johnson Misses Morning Skate

News: Tyler Johnson, who is questionable to play Friday against the Devils, wasn't present for the team's optional morning skate, Darren Rosen of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Tyler Johnson's absence from morning skate wouldn't seem to bode well for his chances of playing Friday, but the Lightning are still considering him a game-time decision. Ondrej Palat (lower body) is set to return to the lineup Friday, so he'd likely be plugged back into the Bolts' top-six if Johnson can't play.

Bolts' Johnson (Illness) Questionable For Friday

News: Tyler Johnson missed Thursday's practice with the stomach flu and is questionable to play Friday against the Devils, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: The mumps virus hasn't hit the Lightning yet, but it appears the stomach flu might quickly become a scourge for the team. Radko Gudas previously missed three games with the same condition, and now Tyler Johnson is being kept away from the team to prevent further contamination. The Bolts will check in on Johnson on Friday morning before determining his availability for the game later that evening.

Analysis: He is tied with Steven Stamkos for the team lead in points (19). He may not have won the Calder Trophy last season, but he's showing that his production last year was no fluke at all. He's yet another small, undrafted forward to flourish in St. Petersburg. Take advantage.

Analysis: Tyler Johnson was forced from Tuesday's game due to the upper body injury, but he took part in Thursday's morning skate, and should be good to go Thursday night. Johnson did not score a point Tuesday, but that has been a rarity, as he has been held without a point just three other times in 16 games this season.

The Bolts' leading scorer with 18 points, Johnson has been a focal point of the the team's offensive success throughout the season. He'll likely miss Thursday's game against the Sharks if he fails to take part in morning skate, potentially forcing Vladislav Namestnikov to fill Johnson's spot as Tampa's second-line center.
