Panthers' Jagr Moves Up On Career Goals List

News: Jaromir Jagr scored the 718th goal of his career -- but just his 13th of the season -- and added an assist Thursday in a 3-1 win over Detroit.
Analysis: The goal untied him with the great Phil Esposito and sent Jaromir Jagr into sole possession of fifth place on the all-time goals list. If he continues his career past this season, it's not impossible that he could pass fourth-place Marcel Dionne (731 goals) and third-place Brett Hull (741) before all's said and done, though at age 43, Jagr is clearly slowing down. That said, he does have seven points in nine games since joining the Panthers -- not bad for an old man.

Two-Point Evening For Panthers' Jagr

News: Jaromir Jagr didn't record a shot on goal, but handed out two assists and went plus-1 on Thursday against the Jets.
Analysis: After totaling just 29 points and a minus-10 rating in 57 games for the Devils this season, Jaromir Jagr's responded since being traded by picking up five points and a plus-2 rating in his first five games as a Panther. It's hard to expect the NHL's oldest player to keep it up, though.

Panthers' Jagr (Illness) Will Play Saturday

News: Updating a previous note, Jaromir Jagr (illness) will be in the lineup Saturday against the Islanders, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr was considered questionable with the same illness that's passing through much of the Panthers' roster, but he's been given the green light shortly before Saturday's puck drop.

Panthers' Jagr (Illness) Won't Play Saturday

News: Jaromir Jagr (illnesss) will not play Saturday against the Islanders, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Analysis: The veteran, who missed Thursday's game against the Stars, is nearly recovered from the stomach flu that has floated around the Panthers' locker room, but it looks like he'll require one more game off. He'll be joined in the press box by Tomas Kopecky and Aaron Ekblad, both of whom are also out with the virus.

Panthers' Jagr A Game-Time Call

News: Jaromir Jagr (illness) will be a game-time decision for Saturday's tilt with the Islanders, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr was scratched for Thursday's game against the Stars after falling victim to the stomach flu, a virus that has afflicted many in the Panthers' locker room of late. It seems as though the worst of the symptoms are behind him now, as he was able to take part in Saturday's morning skate. Jagr is generally expected to be cleared to play against the Islanders, but the Panthers will take a cautious approach and see how he progresses in the afternoon before making a declaration on his status one way or the other.

Panthers' Jagr (Illness) Scratched Thursday

News: Jaromir Jagr will miss Thursday's game against the Stars due to flu-like symptoms, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr was a late scratch, joining defensemen Erik Gudbranson and Willie Mitchell, both of whom are also dealing with the flu. The Panthers have cancelled Friday's practice in hope of containing the spread of the illness.

Jagr Collects First Two Points With Panthers

News: Jaromir Jagr registered a goal and an assist for his first two points with his new club in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Lightning.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr had been on his coldest spell of the season as he failed to get on the scoresheet in his last eight games with the Devils and in his debut with the Panthers. The 43-year-old should see an uptick in his offensive production as he joins a playoff contending team, but he's put up just 20 points in 59 contests thus far.

Panthers' Jagr To Debut On Second Line

News: Jaromir Jagr will make his Panthers debut Saturday against the Predators, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: During pregame warmups, Jaromir Jagr was spotted skating alongside Jonathan Huberdeau and Aleksander Barkov on what is projected to be the Panthers' second line. Jagr, who accumulated 11 goals and 29 points in 57 games with the Devils this season, also figures to see time on the power play in his debut with his new squad.

Devils' Jagr Traded To Panthers

News: Jaromir Jagr was traded to the Panthers on Thursday in exchange for a 2015 second-round pick and a 2016 third-round pick.
Analysis: It was no secret that Jaromir Jagr desired a trade to a contender, and while this probably isn't what he had in mind, the Panthers only trail the Bruins by two points for the Eastern Conference's wild-card spot. Now set to join his eighth NHL team, Jagr may be able to grab a top-six spot, after scoring 29 points (11 goals) in 57 games for the Devils this season.

Devils' Jagr: Points In Three Straight

News: Jaromir Jagr potted a goal in Friday's win over the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr was held without a point in his first two games back from an illness after the All-Star break, but he's now registered a goal or assist in three straight contests. He's only put five shots on goal during that span, however, making it difficult to imagine him staying hot for much longer until he shows a little more activity.

Devils' Jagr Scoreless in Return Wednesday

News: Jaromir Jagr (illness) had two shots on goal and went minus-1 in the Devils' 2-1 shootout win over the Maple Leafs on Wednesday night.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr was able to log 16 minutes of ice time in his first game back in the lineup since Jan. 9, as he had been battling the flu. The winger only has 25 points in 44 games this season, so age may be finally catching up to the future Hall of Famer.

Devils' Jagr Set To Play Wednesday

News: Jaromir Jagr (illness) practiced fully Tuesday and expects to play Wednesday against the Maple Leafs, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr is feeling no ill effects from the flu bug that sidelined him prior to the All-Star break. Look for the aging winger to reunite with Adam Henrique and Scott Gomez on a line during Wednesday's match.

Devils' Jagr Will Play Wednesady

News: Jaromir Jagr said Monday that he's over his illnesses and will be ready to play Wednesday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr was dealing with both the mumps and flu recently, but after resting over All-Star weekend, he'll be ready to return to the ice for Wednesday's game. Jagr has appeared in 43 games this season, posting nine goals and 16 assists for 25 points while averaging 18:23 of ice time per game.

Devils' Jagr (Illness) Expected To Resume Practice

News: Jaromir Jagr (illness) is expected to return to practice Monday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr has been skating on his own back in New Jersey since last weekend in an attempt to regain stamina after a nasty bout with the flu. The Devils kept him away from the team during their recently completed three-game road trip as a precaution, but it looks like the 42-year-old should be ready to go immediately out of the All-Star break. His return to the lineup Wednesday against the Maple Leafs should be verified once he takes part fully in Monday's practice.

New Jersey's Jagr Still Sidelined

News: Jaromir Jagr (illness) is slated to miss Monday's game against the Sharks, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Per the report Jaromir Jagr is feeling better at this stage, but he hasn't resumed skated yet, so the veteran forward is on track to return after the NHL All-Star break.

Devils' Jagr (Flu) Likely Out Thru All-Star Break

News: GM Lou Lamoriello said Jaromir Jagr is "very doubtful" to join the Devils at any point during their three-game road trip, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr had already been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Kings, and with the winger making limited progress in his recovery from the flu, it appears likely the team will just have him rest up through the All-Star break. With Tuomu Ruutu dealing with a similarly debilitating case of the flu, look for either him or Jagr to move to injured reserve Wednesday, as the Devils plan on activating Eric Gelinas (illness).

Devils' Jagr Will Not Travel To Los Angeles

News: Jaromir Jagr (illness) will not travel with the team to Los Angeles for Wednesday's game against the Kings, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: The Devils did not comment on Jaromir Jagr's status directly, but this presumably rules him out for Wednesday's game. The Devils will play two more games on the road following Wednesday's contest, and it's possible Jagr could join the team later in the road trip if his health improves.

New Jersey's Jagr Iffy For Wednesday

News: GM/interim coach Lou Lamoriello is uncertain whether Jaromir Jagr (illness) will be able to travel to Los Angeles for Wednesday's game against the Kings, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: The same applies to Tuomo Ruutu, with both under the weather players having missed practice again on Monday.

Devils' Jagr Dealing With Illness

News: Jaromir Jagr missed practice Sunday due to an illness, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr has gone pointless in the three games since becoming the oldest player to record a hat trick, and that could be stretched to four before he even takes the ice Wednesday. Thankfully, the Devils don't play again for three days, so it's possible he will be fine by then, but the team should update his status at some point prior to the opening faceoff against the Kings.

Devils' Jagr Becomes Oldest In NHL To Net Trick

News: Jaromir Jagr, who is a month shy of 43, became the oldest NHL player to record a hat trick when he potted three goals in Saturday's win over the Flyers. It was his 15th career hat trick and first since March, 2006.
Analysis: He moved past Gordie Howe who was 41 in 1969 when he had a three-goal game. Jaromir Jagr now has 714 goals in his career and is three behind Phil Esposito in fifth place all-time. He also has five points, including four goals, in his last four games, so his fantasy value is also on the rise. #HOF

Devils' Jagr Scores Sixth In Win

News: Jaromir Jagr scored his sixth goal of the season as the Devils defeated the Penguins 3-1 on Monday.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr is having a down season, along with just about every other New Jersey forward, but the goal still had to feel good coming up against his former team in the Penguins. The tally actually proved to be the game winner making it all the more sweeter.

Productive Outing For Devils' Jagr On Monday

News: Jaromir Jagr registered two assists and six shots on goal in Monday's shootout loss to the Islanders.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr has been sensational against the Islanders throughout his career no matter what jersey he's worn, and he only furthered that narrative Monday. The two assists gave him an impressive 152 points in 105 career games against the Islanders, his most against any team.

Devils' Jagr Adds Goal And Assist

News: Jaromir Jagr scored a goal and added an assist in 20:12 worth of ice time in Monday's 2-1 win over the Hurricanes.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr now has five goals to go along with 12 assists through 27 games this season. He's off the pace currently, but the 42-year-old could reach the 50 point mark for the first time since the 2006-07 season.

Devils' Jagr (Illness) To Play Saturday Night

News: Jaromir Jagr (illness) is listed on the Devils' first line for Saturday's game against the Capitals, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr's illness didn't keep him off the ice for Saturday's morning skate, and it looks like he'll suit up for the evening contest. The 42-year-old forward hasn't recorded a point in his last two games but has 15 total on the season.

Devils' Jagr (Illness) Skating Saturday

News: Jaromir Jagr (illness) was on the ice for Saturday's morning skate, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: The 20-year veteran sat Thursday with a bout of the flu, his first absence all season, but Jaromir Jagr noted Friday that he was "feeling better" and it sounds like he has a good chance to return Saturday against the Capitals. He's chipped in four goals and 11 assists in 25 games so far this season.
