Devils' Jagr Scoreless in Return Wednesday

News: Jaromir Jagr (illness) had two shots on goal and went minus-1 in the Devils' 2-1 shootout win over the Maple Leafs on Wednesday night.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr was able to log 16 minutes of ice time in his first game back in the lineup since Jan. 9, as he had been battling the flu. The winger only has 25 points in 44 games this season, so age may be finally catching up to the future Hall of Famer.

Devils' Jagr Set To Play Wednesday

News: Jaromir Jagr (illness) practiced fully Tuesday and expects to play Wednesday against the Maple Leafs, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr is feeling no ill effects from the flu bug that sidelined him prior to the All-Star break. Look for the aging winger to reunite with Adam Henrique and Scott Gomez on a line during Wednesday's match.

Devils' Jagr Will Play Wednesady

News: Jaromir Jagr said Monday that he's over his illnesses and will be ready to play Wednesday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr was dealing with both the mumps and flu recently, but after resting over All-Star weekend, he'll be ready to return to the ice for Wednesday's game. Jagr has appeared in 43 games this season, posting nine goals and 16 assists for 25 points while averaging 18:23 of ice time per game.

Devils' Jagr (Illness) Expected To Resume Practice

News: Jaromir Jagr (illness) is expected to return to practice Monday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr has been skating on his own back in New Jersey since last weekend in an attempt to regain stamina after a nasty bout with the flu. The Devils kept him away from the team during their recently completed three-game road trip as a precaution, but it looks like the 42-year-old should be ready to go immediately out of the All-Star break. His return to the lineup Wednesday against the Maple Leafs should be verified once he takes part fully in Monday's practice.

New Jersey's Jagr Still Sidelined

News: Jaromir Jagr (illness) is slated to miss Monday's game against the Sharks, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Per the report Jaromir Jagr is feeling better at this stage, but he hasn't resumed skated yet, so the veteran forward is on track to return after the NHL All-Star break.

Devils' Jagr (Flu) Likely Out Thru All-Star Break

News: GM Lou Lamoriello said Jaromir Jagr is "very doubtful" to join the Devils at any point during their three-game road trip, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr had already been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Kings, and with the winger making limited progress in his recovery from the flu, it appears likely the team will just have him rest up through the All-Star break. With Tuomu Ruutu dealing with a similarly debilitating case of the flu, look for either him or Jagr to move to injured reserve Wednesday, as the Devils plan on activating Eric Gelinas (illness).

Devils' Jagr Will Not Travel To Los Angeles

News: Jaromir Jagr (illness) will not travel with the team to Los Angeles for Wednesday's game against the Kings, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: The Devils did not comment on Jaromir Jagr's status directly, but this presumably rules him out for Wednesday's game. The Devils will play two more games on the road following Wednesday's contest, and it's possible Jagr could join the team later in the road trip if his health improves.

New Jersey's Jagr Iffy For Wednesday

News: GM/interim coach Lou Lamoriello is uncertain whether Jaromir Jagr (illness) will be able to travel to Los Angeles for Wednesday's game against the Kings, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: The same applies to Tuomo Ruutu, with both under the weather players having missed practice again on Monday.

Devils' Jagr Dealing With Illness

News: Jaromir Jagr missed practice Sunday due to an illness, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr has gone pointless in the three games since becoming the oldest player to record a hat trick, and that could be stretched to four before he even takes the ice Wednesday. Thankfully, the Devils don't play again for three days, so it's possible he will be fine by then, but the team should update his status at some point prior to the opening faceoff against the Kings.

Devils' Jagr Becomes Oldest In NHL To Net Trick

News: Jaromir Jagr, who is a month shy of 43, became the oldest NHL player to record a hat trick when he potted three goals in Saturday's win over the Flyers. It was his 15th career hat trick and first since March, 2006.
Analysis: He moved past Gordie Howe who was 41 in 1969 when he had a three-goal game. Jaromir Jagr now has 714 goals in his career and is three behind Phil Esposito in fifth place all-time. He also has five points, including four goals, in his last four games, so his fantasy value is also on the rise. #HOF

Devils' Jagr Scores Sixth In Win

News: Jaromir Jagr scored his sixth goal of the season as the Devils defeated the Penguins 3-1 on Monday.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr is having a down season, along with just about every other New Jersey forward, but the goal still had to feel good coming up against his former team in the Penguins. The tally actually proved to be the game winner making it all the more sweeter.

Productive Outing For Devils' Jagr On Monday

News: Jaromir Jagr registered two assists and six shots on goal in Monday's shootout loss to the Islanders.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr has been sensational against the Islanders throughout his career no matter what jersey he's worn, and he only furthered that narrative Monday. The two assists gave him an impressive 152 points in 105 career games against the Islanders, his most against any team.

Devils' Jagr Adds Goal And Assist

News: Jaromir Jagr scored a goal and added an assist in 20:12 worth of ice time in Monday's 2-1 win over the Hurricanes.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr now has five goals to go along with 12 assists through 27 games this season. He's off the pace currently, but the 42-year-old could reach the 50 point mark for the first time since the 2006-07 season.

Devils' Jagr (Illness) To Play Saturday Night

News: Jaromir Jagr (illness) is listed on the Devils' first line for Saturday's game against the Capitals, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr's illness didn't keep him off the ice for Saturday's morning skate, and it looks like he'll suit up for the evening contest. The 42-year-old forward hasn't recorded a point in his last two games but has 15 total on the season.

Devils' Jagr (Illness) Skating Saturday

News: Jaromir Jagr (illness) was on the ice for Saturday's morning skate, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: The 20-year veteran sat Thursday with a bout of the flu, his first absence all season, but Jaromir Jagr noted Friday that he was "feeling better" and it sounds like he has a good chance to return Saturday against the Capitals. He's chipped in four goals and 11 assists in 25 games so far this season.

Devils' Jagr Feeling Better

News: Jaromir Jagr (illness) noted that he was "feeling better" Friday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr sat out for the first time all season Thursday due to the flu. While it's encouraging that his condition is improving, Jagr's status for Saturday's game against the Capitals won't be known until after the team conducts its morning skate.

Devils' Jagr Out Thursday With Illness

News: Jaromir Jagr will not play Thursday due to an illness, Rich Chere of The Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr left Tuesday's game with a head injury, but GM Lou Lamoriello said that the winger will sit Thursday due to the illness, and not due to any concussion symptoms. The explanation doesn't seem implausible, considering Jagr was battling a cold heading into Tuesday's contest. Assuming that is the case, it seems Jagr will have a decent chance to return for the Devils' next game Saturday.

Devils' Jagr Knocked Out In Return To Pittsburgh

News: Jaromir Jagr left Tuesday's game against the Penguins in the second period with an apparent head injury and will not return, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr was one of three Devils forwards (Patrik Elias, Stephen Gionta) to leave the game with an injury, with his looking like the most serious of the three. The injury occurred when he was struck in the head and into the end boards by the Penguins' Robert Bortuzzo, who could face a suspension for the hit. Jagr had previously dealt with a nasty cold in the morning, so the injury only further complicates matters. Consider him questionable for Thursday's game against the Maple Leafs until the team updates his condition.

Devils' Jagr Scores Fourth Of Season

News: Jaromir Jagr scored his fourth goal of the season and added an assist in Friday's loss to Detroit.
Analysis: Jaromir Jagr now has 15 points in 23 games this season, to go with an even plus-minus rating. At 42 years of age, Jagr still remains a valuable fantasy option, as he is on track to reach the 50-point plateau for the 20th time in his career.

Jagr Tallies Two Assists For Devils

News: Jaromir Jagr picked up a pair of assists -- one a power-play empty-netter -- in Tuesday's win over the Devils.
Analysis: Hey, cheap power-play points are still power-play points. With three goals and nine assists in 12 games, Jaromir Jagr's a smidge off last year's pace, but he's been warming up lately, having notched four points in his last four contests.

Devils' Jagr Tallies Game-Winner Saturday

News: Jaromir Jagr aided the Devils to an overtime victory over the Senators on Saturday, notching his second marker of the season with 1:21 remaining in the extra period.
Analysis: It was the NHL-record 125th game-winning goal for Jaromir Jagr, who continues to defy expectations at age 42. He's contributed six points in eight games and figures to finish among the Devils' scoring leaders again in 2014-15.

Two Power-Play Points For Devils' Jagr

News: Jaromir Jagr scored his first goal of the year on a first-period power play and also assisted on Adam Henrique's power-play goal in Tuesday's overtime loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: While these represent Jaromir Jagr's first power-play points of the season, which is promising, he again took precious few shots on goal (two). Jagr hasn't taken more than two shots in a game yet this year -- an unexpected development for a guy who put 231 pucks on net last season. Despite that, the 42-year-old certainly doesn't look like he's feeling his age out there on the ice.

Devils' Jagr Dishes Out Two Helpers In Opener

News: Jaromir Jagr assisted on goals by Michael Ryder and Michael Cammalleri in Thursday's win over the Flyers.
Analysis: That pair of points unties him with Steve Yzerman, giving him sixth place all by himself on the all-time scoring list. Jaromir Jagr could very easily propel himself up a couple spots this year -- his 1,757 points are just 41 short of fourth-place Ron Francis's 1,798. After the 67-point season Jagr delivered last year, that seems well in reach even though he'll turn 43 during the season.

Devils Officially Bring Back Jagr

News: Jaromir Jagr officially signed a contract with the Devils on Wednesday, Mike Morreale of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: The official terms of the contract haven't been announced, but it's expected that Jaromir Jagr agreed to a one-year pact worth between $5 and $6 million. The 42-year-old led the Devils with 67 points this season and is tied in scoring with Steve Yzerman for sixth place in NHL history.

Jagr Says He Will Return To Devils Next Season

News: Jaromir Jagr has a deal in place to return to the Devils next season, The Record reports.
Analysis: Details of the pact have not been provided, but it appears Jaromir Jagr, who will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, is set to head back to New Jersey. Jagr is 42 years old, but tallied 67 points (24 goals, 43 assists) in 82 games this season, so it appears he still has plenty left in the tank.
