News:Roman Hamrlik will be a healthy scratch for Wednesday's game against the Senators, the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: The report adds that the team is shopping the veteran defenseman as the NHL trade deadline approaches. In 55 games this season, Roman Hamrlik has two goals and eight assists, but this is the time of year where blue-line depth is often a highly sought after commodity.

News:Roman Hamrlik grabbed two assists in Washington's 5-3 win over Boston.
Analysis:Roman Hamrlik's numbers have been woeful this season, with just five points before his two-point outburst on Tuesday. At this stage of his career, he has more value to the Capitals than fantasy rosters.

News: The Canadiens apparently will offer Hamrlik a contract extension, according to the Canadian newspaper La Presse, the Montreal Gazette reports

The 37-year-old had yet another productive season in 2010-11, as he finished with 34 points, just four behind fellow blueliner P.K. Subban. It's unclear as to how much money the veteran would receive with a new deal, or for how many years his contract would be extended, but these are details that reportedly will be decided on in the coming days.

Analysis: Hamrlik, who turns 37 next week, has played more minutes (22:26) than was expected of him this season, thanks to injuries to Andrei Markov and Josh Gorges. He also leads the Canadiens in blocked shots (187). "I'm trying to do my job like everybody else," he said. "It's been a different season because we've been missing so many good players like Andrei Markov or Josh Gorges. In my mind, I had to step up at the beginning of the season. It's been good so far and hopefully we have a good game tomorrow and go on from there."
News: Hamrlik picked up two helpers Saturday night. He now has eight points -- all assists -- in his last seven games.
Analysis: Where did that come from? The old man must have eaten his spinach because he's become fantasy relevant again. Check your wire.

Analysis: Hamrlik led the Canadiens with three blocked shots while skating 27 shifts for 22:10 of ice time. Now that Josh Gorges has joined Andrei Markov with season-ending knee injuries, the veteran Hamrlik is needed more than ever to help stabilize a young Habs' blue line.

News: After two consecutive therapy days, Hamrlik is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Analysis: The Canadiens are already without Josh Gorges (knee) for Thursday night's game against the Penguins, so losing Hamrlik will make for a shorthanded blue line.
News: Hamrlik took a "therapy day" Tuesday, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Analysis: Generally, therapy or maintenance days are used to give players some extra rest. Considering Hamrlik is 36 years old, we're guessing the Habs simply want the veteran to have fresh legs for Thursday's contest against the high-flying Penguins.
News: Hamrlik extended a points streak to four games with a goal Tuesday against Ottawa.
Analysis: Hamrlik has been hot of late with six points over the last four contests and he's a healthy plus-9 on the season with 15 points (or five more than Ilya Kovalchuk, to put it another way). With Andrei Markov out for the season (again) and PK Subban in and out of the lineup, grab Hamrlik and expect him to collect a few points while leading the Montreal power play.
News: Hamrlik resumed play like he never missed a beat Wednesday night against Tampa Bay. Hamrlik was on the ice for over 20 minutes and ended up with a plus one for the evening.
Analysis: The plan is to ease him back in to the rotation but it didn't take long for Hamrlik to gobble up the minutes on the blue line. Watch his recovery time from the game to see if he can bounce back and play again Friday night against Buffalo.
News: Hamrlik (knee) is expected to return to the lineup against Tampa Bay on Wednesday night, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
Analysis: He'll likely replace Alexandre Picard in the lineup, but it's unclear as to how much time Hamrlik will see on the power play with Jaroslav Spacek and P.K. Subban gobbling up most of the minutes in back with the man advantage in the first two contests.

News: Hamrlik (knee) practiced for the first time this season Monday for Montreal.
Analysis: Hamrlik was accompanied by teammate Andrei Markov as they both started the day working off to the side and then joined the team for practice later in the day. This is a very positive sign for Hamrlik who said he doesn't want to make any predictions for his arrival, but it appears he will play Thursday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs in the NHL season opener.

Analysis: Hamrlik now has 25 points on the season with six goals and 19 assists. He is on a three-game points streak and has points in five of his last six games overall. The last thing Hamrlik wants to see is the Olympic break since he is playing solid hockey. Hamrlik is a good veteran presence for Montreal, but we just can't expect a lot of multi-point efforts from him. Hamrlik remains a Fantasy option in deeper formats.

News: Canadiens RW Brian Gionta (foot) and D Roman Hamrlik (knee) are both expected to return to action Monday at Ottawa.
Analysis: Get Gionta back active in the majority of Fantasy formats, even though he's been out for almost a month and a half and will certainly be a little rusty. He had 13 points in 19 games before getting hurt. Hamrlik is worth using in deeper formats as a low-end starting defenseman.
News: Canadiens D Roman Hamrlik (knee) missed his fifth straight game Saturday at Toronto. He is questionable for Monday at Ottawa.
Analysis: Hamrlik has been an excellent veteran presence from the Canadiens' blue line in 2009-10, especially in the absence of Andrei Markov (ankle). He was playing strong two-way hockey and has totaled 14 points in 34 games. His offense has been a bit erratic, so that is why he is more of a low-end Fantasy start when healthy. Plus, Markov is back healthy now. Keep Hamrlik out of all lineups for Fantasy Week 13 (Dec. 28-Jan. 3) unless word comes down that he'll be active on Monday.

News: Canadiens D Roman Hamrlik tallied a pair of assists and finished at plus-1 during Monday's game against the Flyers. It was his second multi-assist game in his last five outings.
Analysis: Hamrlik isn't having a bad offensive start to the season. Then again, he isn't lighting up the scoreboard for Fantasy owners. Hamrlik is a good veteran presence off the blue line for Montreal, but he remains more of a low-end Fantasy flier.
News: Canadiens D Roman Hamrlik tallied a pair of assists and finished at plus-1 during Sunday's game against the Capitals. He has four assists in his last five games.
Analysis: Hamrlik is up to 10 points in 25 games. He has helped fill the void created by Andrei Markov, who is out at least another month with an ankle injury. He is contributing a ton of points on a regular basis, so Hamrlik is more of a low-end Fantasy start.

Analysis: The Canadiens are asking Hamrlik to be a little more aggressive on offense with Andrei Markov (leg) out several months. He used to be a 40-point threat back in the day, so it's not like Hamrlik doesn't know how to play on offense. Consider him a nice low-end Fantasy option with room to grow.
News: Canadiens D Roman Hamrlik, who missed the season opener with a virus, returned to action Saturday against the Sabres and managed an assist and a plus-2 rating.

News: Canadiens D Roman Hamrlik was scratched from Thursday's season opener against the Maple Leafs because of a virus. He is day to day.
Analysis: Hamrlik is entering his 17th NHL season. He has been healthy for most of his NHL career and we doubt a virus keeps him down for long. While he might no longer be a 40-point threat, Hamrlik can still get it done at both ends of the ice. Consider him a low-end Fantasy option when healthy.
News: Montreal D Roman Hamrlik scored with 3.2 seconds remaining in the second period of Monday's game against the Senators for the Canadiens, who are seventh in the Eastern Conference but only three points above the playoff cutoff with three games left.

Analysis: While Hamrlik might be dealing with some off-the-ice issues, it hasn't effected his game at the rink. He is still a pass-friendly defenseman and a viable low-end Fantasy option. His days as a high-end player are in the best since he is no longer an elite scorer.
News: The Montreal Canadiens made it clear that they are troubled about allegations that three of their players have been socializing with a man recently arrested on drug charges. The French-language daily La Presse reported Friday that Andrei Kostitsyn and Sergei Kostitsyn had social ties with Pasquale Mangiola, who was arrested Feb. 12. "We're very concerned," Montreal general manager Bob Gainey said at a news press conference at the team's suburban practice facility. "We're very concerned because we know that this person who became involved with these players, he's not the only person who wants to find a place to enter the inner area of the hockey team." La Presse said none of the three players is suspected of any criminal activity. In addition to the Belorussian brothers, La Presse identified Czech defenseman Roman Hamrlik as another player who had hung around with Mangiola, facing charges including conspiracy and possessing and trafficking cocaine. "I haven't spoken to those three players individually," Gainey said. "We did have a meeting this morning where I spoke to the players in general about the articles that were in the paper today and lifestyle and decisions, about people, about acquaintances, about places, about choices."
Analysis: The Canadiens did not make any players available to the press following practice Friday other than Alex Kovalev, who returned to the team after he was told to skip a two-game road trip and rest. The NHL's security department, which visits each club every season to discuss a variety of issues, including personal associations, is also looking into the matter. "The NHL is aware of the reports and is in the process of gathering additional information," deputy commissioner Bill Daly said in a statement. Andrei Kostitsyn told La Presse following Montreal's 6-5 loss in Pittsburgh on Thursday that he knew Mangiola but that he didn't know anything about his situation. "Well, I can only go on what I know today, and I think what I know today is not good," Gainey said. "It's not good for our team. It doesn't reflect well on our team, it doesn't reflect well on the individuals, it cannot be extinguished as a possible inhibitor to our performance." The good news for Fantasy owners is that nothing is expected to happen to either Andrei Kostitsyn or Hamrlik heading into Week 21 (Feb. 23-March 1), so keep them active for the time being. Beyond that we don't know until the NHL investigation is over. Sergei Kostitsyn was recently demoted to the minors for poor play.

Analysis: Hamrlik now has 21 points on the year and five in his last four games. Hamrlik used to be a top-scoring defenseman in his hey day, but since arriving in Montreal last season, he has taken a back seat to the developing Andrei Markov. He still sees a fair amount of PT, but Hamrlik is more of a low-end Fantasy option these days.

Hamrlik drew the Canadiens even at 1 with his third goal of the season 4:31 into the first. Sergei Kostitsyn cut off Marc-Andre Fleury's clearing attempt behind the net and fed a pass into the slot for the veteran defenseman, who scored as the Pittsburgh goalie tried to scramble back into position. "I was just trying to hit the net and it went in," said Hamrlik, who finished at plus-4.
Analysis: Hamrlik used to be a top-scoring defenseman in his hey day, but since arriving in Montreal last season, he has taken a back seat to the developing Andrei Markov. He still sees a fair amount of PT, but Hamrlik is more of a low-end Fantasy option these days.
News: Montreal D Roman Hamrlik tallied three assists on Wednesday against the Rangers in a 6-3 victory. Harmlik increased his points total to 14 with two goals and 12 assists on the year. It was the first time in four games that he had found himself on the stat sheet.
Analysis: Marlik isn't the Fantasy threat he once was as his production has gone down considerably. He's a good two-way player, but his value is mostly reserved to league that reward for power-play ans short-handed stats.
News: Canadiens D Roman Hamrlik tallied an assist and finished at plus-3 during Thursday's game against the Rangers. He has six assists on the season and three in his last six games.
Analysis: Hamrlik's days as a double-digit scorer and 50-point threat are in the past. He is not always contributing offensively these days, but is still a solid two-way player. Hamrlik is a low-end Fantasy defenseman, but also has Fantasy value in leagues that reward heavily for power-play and short-handed stats.

Analysis: Hamrlik used to be a 40-point producer back in the day and even had a career-high 65 points in 1995-96. However, he is more of a No. 4 Fantasy defenseman these days with 30-35 points as what to expect.

Analysis: Hamrlik has four points (two goals) in his first nine games and is enjoying an nice start to the season. Back in the day he had 40-point potential, but if we get 25-35 points from him in 2008-09 would be nice. Continue to view him as a No. 4 or No. 5 Fantasy defenseman.
News: The Montreal Gazette reports that Canadiens D Roman Hamrlik, who missed practice Wednesday with a left calf injury, should play Thursday at Minnesota.
Analysis: Hamrlik has four points in eight games this season, and a half-point pace per game would result in a nice 41-point output for the veteran. That would make him a nice starting Fantasy blue-liner in most formats, but for now he remains just a low-end starting option in deeper leagues.
