Elias Scores In Devils' Loss

News: Patrik Elias scored one of New Jersey's two goals in Friday's shootout loss to the Islanders, giving him 18 goals on the year.
Analysis: Patrik Elias has missed a handful of games to nagging injuries this season but still has a steady 52 points through 64 games for a team that has been shut out as often as the Devils have.

Devils' Elias To Play Thursday

News: Patrik Elias (head) will be in the lineup Thursday against the Senators, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Despite missing the past two games, Patrik Elias has yet another 50-point season on his ledger, the 12th of his illustrious career. He'll have two years remaining on his contract after the 2013-14 campaign.

Devils' Elias Out Saturday

News: Patrik Elias (head) is out for Saturday's game, Rich Chere of the Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Patrik Elias is joined on the injured list by Adam Henrique and Jacob Josefson, leaving the Devils without a trio of key forwards. The team didn't opt for any call-ups, indicating that Stephen Gionta (lower body) will likely return for Saturday's game.

Devils' Elias Done For Night

News: Patrik Elias, who suffered a possible head injury during Friday's game, will not return to the contest, Rich Chere of the Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Patrik Elias took a big hit into the boards early in the game, and he went down grabbing his head after it rammed into the barrier between the two teams' benches. Nothing has been confirmed, but a concussion is the most likely diagnosis.

Devils' Elias Injured Friday

News: Patrik Elias did not return for the start of the second period after exiting Friday's game in the first period with an unspecified injury, The Record's Tom Gulitti reports.
Analysis: Patrik Elias took a hard hit about halfway through the first period, and he seems unlikely to return to Friday's game. The star forward's head hit the barrier between the Devils' and Caps' benches, so a concussion is certainly possible. Elias crumpled to the ground immediately after hitting his head but did not appear to lose consciousness.

Assist Trick For Devils' Elias

News: Patrik Elias picked up a trio of assists and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's overtime win over the Wild.
Analysis: One of the helpers came shorthanded, another came on Andy Greene's overtime winner, and all three came in combination with Adam Henrique, who finished with a near-identical line. Patrik Elias continues to rattle off points with impressive consistency -- a terrific 15 of 'em in his last 11 games. He's a great fantasy option right now.

Elias Active In Devils' Loss

News: Patrik Elias grabbed a goal and an assist in Friday's 5-3 loss to Florida, his first goal in three games.
Analysis: Patrik Elias also chipped in an uncharacteristic 12 penalty minutes stemming from an incident with Joey Crabb in the game's waning moments. Elias remains one of New Jersey's top offensive options and has a solid 44 points in 52 games.

Devils' Elias Scores Goal In Loss Friday

News: Patrik Elias scored his 14th goal of the season during the Devils' 7-4 loss to the Red Wings on Friday.
Analysis: Patrik Elias scored an unassisted shorthanded goal to put the Devils on the scoreboard and cut the deficit in half early in the second period. Though it sparked a Devils rally to take the lead, the Red Wings were just too much for them to handle. Elias now has 14 goals and 27 assists over 49 games this season.

Three Points For Devils' Elias On Thursday

News: Patrik Elias potted a goal and picked up two assists in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: Patrik Elias battled through an illness for much of his time in Sochi with the Czech Republic team, but appeared to play with a sense of renewed energy in his first game back with the Devils. With 12 goals and 24 assists in 45 games, Elias has still managed to maintain fantasy relevance across most formats, even at the ripe age of 37.

Devils' Elias Healthy

News: Patrik Elias (illness) will be in the lineup Wednesday against Team USA, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis: Patrik Elias missed the Czech team's last two games with the flu, but will be healthy enough to return Wednesday. He should be considered fully healthy for when the Devils resume playing.

Devils' Elias Out Again Tuesday With Illness

News: Patrik Elias (illness) will not suit up for the Czech Republic on Tuesday against Slovakia, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Patrik Elias was able to take part in the team's morning skate, but he was apparently too debilitated by the illness to suit up for the elimination game. If the Czechs defeat Slovakia, they'd have a quick turnaround against the United States on Wednesday, making it very possible that Elias misses a third straight game.

Devils' Elias Sits Out Olympic Game Saturday

News: Patrik Elias will miss Saturday's game against Switzerland due to an illness, Elliotte Friedman of Hockey Night in Canada reports.
Analysis: The match-up certainly isn't a tough one for The Czech Republic so better to keep Patrik Elias off the ice to get better than risk him getting injured when he's not at 100 percent. He'll likely be back in the lineup for the next game.

Devils' Elias Continues Strong Play

News: Patrik Elias notched his second two-point game in as many nights, factoring into both of New Jersey's goals in Friday's 3-2 overtime loss to Nashville.
Analysis: Patrik Elias has six points in the last four games with four goals over that span. He's been seeing some time with countryman Jaromir Jagr the last week and Elias remains one of the team's top offensive weapons. As usual, his points-per-game rate is healthy with 33 through 41 contests. He's an excellent source of secondary scoring.

Devils' Elias Grabs Two Points

News: Patrik Elias scored the game-winning power-play goal and added an assist in Thursday's overtime win against Dallas.
Analysis: Patrik Elias has been a strange kind of hot lately, with three two-point games in his last five, all separated from each other by scoreless contests. Still, in total, he's got six points in seven games since returning from an upper-body injury.

Devils' Elias Tallies Two Goals

News: Patrik Elias lit the lamp twice, including a power-play tally, against the Rangers on Sunday.
Analysis: Patrik Elias only has nine goals and 29 points in 38 games, but he struggled last year as well, so perhaps this is just the player the 37-year-old is now.

Devils' Elias Notches First Points Since Return

News: Patrik Elias picked up two assists Tuesday against the Blues, his first points in three games since returning from injury.
Analysis: Going back to before he was hurt, Patrik Elias had a four-game scoreless streak snapped Tuesday. With 27 points in 36 games, he's been something of a disappointment to fantasy owners, but even at age 37, he's got the skills to turn it on and pour in some points as long as he can stay healthy.

Elias Returns In Devils' Loss

News: Patrik Elias, making his return from injured reserve, played 18:33 in a 2-1 shootout loss to Colorado on Thursday, finishing a minus-1 with no shots on goal.
Analysis: Patrik Elias, who was hurt on New Year's Eve and hadn't played since, was also denied in the shootout. He saw 2:39 on the power play and will be used in his usual top-six role as one of the team's top offensive players.

Devils' Elias Activated From IR

News: Patrik Elias (upper body) was activated from injured reserve Thursday, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: Patrik Elias evidently proved he was sufficiently recovered from upper-body soreness during Wednesday's practice, so he figures to reenter the lineup Thursday after missing the last seven games. It's uncertain if he'll be vaulted back into a top-six role right away for the Devils, so fantasy players may want to weigh their options before activating him Thursday.

Devils' Elias Resumes Practicing

News: Patrik Elias (upper body) practiced with the Devils on Wednesday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Patrik Elias has missed the last seven games with upper-body soreness, but he seems to be narrowing in on a return, as he's now traveling with the Devils on their road trip. He could be a lineup option for Thursday's tilt with the Avalanche.

Devils' Elias To Join Team In Colorado

News: Patrik Elias (upper body) will join the Devils in Colorado, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.
Analysis: Patrik Elias will miss a seventh consecutive game Tuesday, but is set to rejoin the team in Colorado ahead of Thursday's tilt. The team hasn't said officially whether he'll be activated to play against the Avs, but it seems Elias will return to action before the end of the road trip.

Devils' Elias Progressing, May Join Team On Trip

News: Devils coach Pete DeBoer said Sunday that Patrik Elias (upper body) is progressing and might join the team at some point on the road trip, Rich Chere of the Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Patrik Elias did not accompany the team for the start of the trip, which begins Sunday in Toronto, but it sounds like he could return before the end of next week. The Devils have stops in Montreal on Tuesday, Colorado on Thursday and Phoenix on Saturday. Elias has missed the last five games with what the team is calling "total body soreness."

Elias At Home For Devils' Road Trip

News: Patrik Elias (total body soreness) did not join the Devils for the start of their road trip on Sunday in Toronto, the Bergen Record's Tom Gulitti reports.
Analysis: The Devils have three more games on this road trip, facing Montreal, Colorado and Phoenix in the coming week, so there is some chance that Patrik Elias could rejoin the squad for one of those games. He did skate on Friday, but hasn't played since an awkward fall into the boards on New Year's Eve.

Devils' Elias Skates Friday

News: Patrik Elias (upper body) skated on his own Friday, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
Analysis: Although it looks like Patrik Elias won't be ready to go for Saturday's game vs. the Panthers, a return next week seems to be a realistic possibility for the forward. He sustained the injury on New Year's Eve against the Penguins and has missed the previous four games for the Devils.

Devils' Elias Still Out

News: Patrik Elias (upper body) has not yet resumed skating, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: The team still considers Patrik Elias' injury a short-term concern, but we won't have a timetable for his return until he begins skating again. He has been working out off the ice on his own in recent days. The winger has seven goals and 18 assists in 33 games to date.

Devils' Elias Placed On IR

News: Patrik Elias (upper body) was placed on injured reserve retroactive to Dec. 31 by the Devils on Monday.
Analysis: Patrik Elias took a hit about a week ago against the Penguins and is still dealing with effects from that injury. Given the retroactive placement on IR, he will be able to return to the lineup for New Jersey as soon as he is ready.
