Roloson Turns Down Coaching Gig; Wants To Play

News: Dwayne Roloson spent the summer working hard and still hopes to sign with an NHL club for this season, according to a report on Toronto's Sportsnet 590 The Fan. He recently turned down an offer to become the Maple Leafs' goaltending coach.
Analysis: Rolie told the station that a couple of NHL teams had spoken to him over the summer, but nothing was ever finalized. He hopes to catch on with a team once the lockout ends and teams have had a chance to evaluate their situation between the pipes. He'll turn 43 on Oct. 12, so this will likely be his last kick at the proverbial can.

Lightning's Roloson Fares Well Versus Jets

News: Dwayne Roloson put together a solid outing Saturday night in Winnipeg, stopping 28 of the Jets' 31 shots on his way to an overtime win.
Analysis: Despite the admirable finish, 2011-12 was a year Dwayne Roloson would probably like to forget. The 42-year-old inspires little confidence for the 2012-13 fantasy season, if he ends up playing at all.

Roloson Starting For Tampa

News: Dwayne Roloson will start against Winnipeg on Saturday, TampaBayLightning.com reports.
Analysis: With a save percentage of .886 on the year, Dwayne Roloson is best avoided.

Roloson Falls In OT For Bolts

News: Dwayne Roloson wasn't horrible Thursday, stopping 28 of 31 shots, but the Lightning still fell to Toronto in overtime, 3-2.
Analysis: On the bright side, he'll be eligible for Social Security soon enough. Dwayne Roloson is a horrendously risky fantasy play and a big-time retirement candidate.

Roloson Strong In Lightning Win

News: Dwayne Roloson turned aside 31 of 33 shots in Monday's win over Washington, his first win in his last three starts.
Analysis: Dwayne Roloson had been struggling mightily coming into Monday's contest, surrendering 10 goals over his last two starts. The aging veteran made a remarkable save on Washington's Mike Green in the second period that kept the score at a 1-0 deficit. He fended off several attempts in close, including a late Washington power play.

Roloson Gets Monday Nod For Lightning

News: Dwayne Roloson will start Monday's game against the Caps, Tampa Tribune writer Erik Erlendsson reports.
Analysis: Dwayne Roloson has given up 10 goals in his last two starts, in a span of 106 minutes. He'll try to get back on track against a Washington team that will presumably be in desperation mode, with playoff hopes on the line over the next three games.

Bolts' Roloson Pulled Thursday

News: Dwayne Roloson was left in for six goals on 34 shots before being mercifully removed six minutes into the third period Thursday against New Jersey.
Analysis: The Devils tied their season high in goals in this one, which says a lot about both the Tampa defense and goaltending. The 42-year-old Dwayne Roloson has followed a (very) modest three-game winning streak by watching 10 pucks whiz past him in the last two games.

Roloson Starting For Bolts Tuesday

News: Dwayne Roloson will face the Bruins on Tuesday, according to Damian Cristodero of the Tampa Times.
Analysis: Shockingly, Dwayne Roloson has resembled an actual NHL goalie over his last three starts, posting a save percentage of better than .915 each time out. He's looking to end a dreadful season on a high note.

Roloson Likely Starter For Bolts Monday

News: Dwayne Roloson appears likely to start for the Lightning on Monday after coming off the ice first at the morning skate, according to Damian Cristodero of the Tampa Times.
Analysis: Dwayne Roloson has actually won his last two outings but he takes on the mighty Flyers on Monday. Roloson owns a mere 5-7-1 record against the team from Philadelphia.

Bolts' Roloson Wins 10th Of The Season

News: Dwayne Roloson made 34 saves in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Islanders. It was his second straight start.
Analysis: Make that two wins in a row for the greybeard. Mind you, it's only his 10th of the season; don't get overexcited.

Lightning's Roloson Gets The Nod

News: Dwayne Roloson will start in goal Saturday against the Islanders, the Lightning's official Twitter page reports.
Analysis: The 42-year-old has gone 9-14-2 this season with a 3.70 GAA. He's been a bit better in March, posting a 3.30 GAA, but he's certainly not a top option at goalie.

Bolts' Roloson Turns In Shootout Win

News: Dwayne Roloson turned aside 34 of 36 shots through regulation and OT, then stopped four of six in the shootout to take home the win Thursday against Edmonton.
Analysis: Rollo has seen spotty duty over the last couple months, and it generally hasn't gone well. This was easily his best start since a 33-save effort against Pittsburgh way back on November -- yeah, November -- 17.

Roloson To Tend Twine Thursday For Bolts

News: Dwayne Roloson gets the start Thursday against the Oilers, reports Damian Cristodero of the Tampa Times.
Analysis: The Oil are young and fast; Rolie is neither. This feels like a sketchy start for him. Avoid.

Lightning's Roloson Lets In Three

News: Dwayne Roloson spelled a struggling Dustin Tokarski on Monday against Buffalo. He played 31:44 and made 20 saves on 23 shots.
Analysis: Dwayne Roloson has been awful this season, but Tokarski, on the opposite end of the age spectrum, has been just as bad. The Lightning are just waiting for Mathieu Garon to get back, and by then their playoff hopes may be gone.

Bolts' Roloson Loses Again

News: Dwayne Roloson made 18 saves in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Blues. It was his first start since February 16.
Analysis: The end is nearing and it's not pretty. He has just eight wins on the season with a goals-against average and save percentage that has hung like an anchor around the neck of his owners. He'll soon be splitting time in the net with Sebastian Caron, whom the Bolts signed out of Germany on Saturday. Continue to avoid.

Roloson Starting Saturday For Tampa

News: Dwayne Roloson will start against St. Louis on Saturday, Tampa Tribune writer Erik Erlendsson reports.
Analysis: Tampa has a good home record, but Dwayne Roloson's indefensible GAA (3.76) and save percentage (.881) mean he isn't a fantasy option.

Bolts' Roloson Makes 25 Saves In Relief

News: Dwayne Roloson made 25 saves in relief of injured starter Mathieu Garon on Tuesday night. He allowed five goals.
Analysis: He wasn't great and clearly isn't the answer if Garon is out for long.

Roloson Allows Eight In Bolts' Loss

News: Dwayne Roloson was shredded by the Penguins on Saturday afternoon. He allowed eight goals on 34 shots in an 8-1 loss.
Analysis: There was an odor to his game -- shots from along the goal line just shouldn't go in. It's sad to think that we're witnessing the end of his career.

Lightning's Roloson Lit Up

News: Dwayne Roloson allowed eight goals on 34 shots in an 8-1 loss against Pittsburgh on Saturday.
Analysis: This was the worst day of what has been a bad season for Dwayne Roloson. Expect Mathieu Garon to be in goal for the Lightning on Sunday in New Jersey.

Roloson Starting Saturday For Bolts

News: The Lightning will turn to Dwayne Roloson on Saturday against the Penguins, according to Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune.
Analysis: Taking their life into their own hands, the Bolts will turn to a fella who has been one of the worst backstops in the league this season against the mighty Penguins.

Roloson Nearly Backstops Bolts To Comeback In Relief

News: Dwayne Roloson stopped all 16 shots he faced in relief of Mathieu Garon on Thursday against the Jets, and the Lightning mounted a spirited comeback, only to fall just short, 4-3.
Analysis: It was an exciting final minute of play, as Tampa scored twice to draw within one, but Garon had put them in too deep a hole. Both Tampa netminders have been maddeningly inconsistent, possibly because they're nearing Social Security eligibility.

Lightning's Roloson Garners Rare Win

News: Dwayne Roloson got the win Thursday night against the Sharks in overtime despite giving up five goals.
Analysis: In fairness to Dwayne Roloson, he was peppered with 50 shots by the Sharks, and was clearly the better of the two goalies in this game, as Antti Niemi was terrible. This was just Roloson's second start since Jan. 21 and his second win since Nov. 17.

Roloson Starting In Net For Bolts Thursday

News: Dwayne Roloson will take on Antti Niemi and the Sharks on Thursday, according to David Pollack of The Mercury News.
Analysis: Dwayne Roloson last started on Feb. 7 in a loss to the Kings, and he has earned a "W" in just one of his last 13 games. Another way to look at things is to realize that he literally has one victory since you were eating turkey on Thanksgiving.

Bolts' Roloson: Aging Ungracefully

News: Dwayne Roloson made 17 saves in a 3-1 loss to the Kings on Tuesday night.
Analysis: He has played in just two of Tampa's last eight games and is clearly the team's second fiddle. He has won just one of his last 10 starts -- spot starts aren't even yielding value.

Bolts Roll The Dice On Roloson On Tuesday

News: Dwayne Roloson gets the nod Tuesday against the Kings, according to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Analysis: It may not be like lading a lamb to slaughter -- the Kings are 1-2 in their last three and have scored just four goals in those three games. He will be well rested but with 11 games on the slate, we are pretty sure you can find a safer option.
