Longtime Devil Pandolfo Retires

News: Jay Pandolfo announced his retirement Friday after 15 NHL seasons, CSNNE.com's Joe Haggerty reports.
Analysis: Jay Pandolfo, who played 13 of his 15 seasons with the Devils, retires with 100 career goals and two Stanley Cup victories to his name. He nearly added a third ring to his collection as a member of last season's Bruins squad that made it all the way to the Finals before bowing out to the Blackhawks.

Pandolfo Signs With Bruins

News: The Bruins have signed Jay Pandolfo to a one-year deal, ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Jay Pandolfo, who had been practicing with the Bruins on a professional tryout, will provide the team with experience and depth up front, but his fantasy impact figures to remain minimal.

Bruins Invite Pandolfo To Training Camp

News: Jay Pandolfo has been invited to the Bruins' training camp, the Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: The 38-year-old Jay Pandolfo scored just one goal and two assists in 62 games for the Islanders last season and if he sticks with the B's, it would be as a fourth-liner/penalty killer.

Islanders Activate Pandolfo From Injured Reserve

News: The Islanders activated Jay Pandolfo (foot) from injured reserve Saturday, according to the team's official Twitter page.

Pandolfo Close To A Return For The Islanders

News: Jay Pandolfo (foot) is close to a return to the Islanders lineup, according to the Islanders web site.

Islanders Place Pandolfo On IR

Isles' Pandolfo Out 4-6 Weeks

News: Jay Pandolfo will be out 4-6 weeks with a broken foot, Arthur Staple of New York Newsday reports.
Analysis: The 36-year-old winger has made one of the 11 shots-on-goal he's taken this year. That point is the only one he had recorded in 21 games with the Islanders this season. This injury could mean more playing time for the recently recalled Micheal Haley, but don't expect much fantasy production from either guy going forward.

Isles' Sign Pandolfo

News: Jay Pandolfo was signed by the Islanders on Tuesday, according to Newsday.
Analysis: When Islander fans were promised a big signing by the club back in August, I don't think they had Steve Staios and Jay Pandolfo in mind, oh well, the pair will add veteran leadership to what is a young team.

News: Jay Pandolfo is close to making the team, according to Newsday.
Analysis: Jay Pandolfo was invited to camp on a tryout basis, and has impressed the team enough to possibly be a fourth line player.

Pandolfo Agrees To Tryout With Isles

News: Jay Pandolfo will attend the Islanders' training camp on a tryout basis, reports TSN.ca.
Analysis: He played in the AHL last season after the Devils bought him out of the last year of his contract in 2010. He would only provide veteran depth should he make the club and would be hard-pressed to be of any fantasy value.

Pandolfo nets winner vs. Leafs

News: Jay Pandolfo capped a three-goal outburst in the final 3:04 and the New Jersey Devils welcomed Ilya Kovalcuk by rallying for a 4-3 victory over the stunned Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday. With everyone thinking overtime, the Devils attacked and stole the game. Defenseman Mike Mottau took a shot that Jonas Gustavsson stopped, but Pandolfo scored his first goal in 16 games by converting the rebound his fourth goal of the season.
Analysis: Pandolfo missed a month earlier this season with a shoulder issue, but it is not the reason he is struggling. Offense has never really been Pandolfo's strong suit. He is mostly on the ice for his veteran presence and defense. He has marginal Fantasy appeal.

Pandolfo assists in return

News: Devils LW Jay Pandolfo assisted Saturday as he returned to action after missing more than a month with a shoulder issue.
Analysis: As a guy who has never reached 30 points, Pandolfo is just a low-end emergency flier option in super-deep leagues.

Devils trio still not ready

News: The New York Post reports that Devils D Paul Martin (broken arm), D Johnny Oduya (groin/hip) and LW Jay Pandolfo (shoulder) still are likely 2-3 weeks away from returning to action.
Analysis: Oduya and Martin are the most Fantasy-viable members of this group, while Pandolfo is just a low-end emergency flier option in super-deep leagues. Just keep Martin and Oduya stashed away for a little while longer.

Pandolfo out at least a month

News: NHL.com Devils LW Jay Pandolfo is out 4-6 weeks with a shoulder injury that might require surgery.
Analysis: Pandolfo has been with New Jersey since the 1996-97 season. He has pretty much served as a lower-line forward and penalty-killing specialist. He hasn't really helped Fantasy owners much, so this injury really only effects the Devils.

Pandolfo's injury not minor

News: The Newark Star-Ledger reports that Devils GM Lou Lamoriello described on Sunday injuries to defenseman Paul Martin and left winger Jay Pandolfo as "serious." Martin suffered what appears to be a broken or fractured left arm when he was hit by a shot from Bill Guerin during the third period of Saturday's game against the Penguins. Pandolfo has either a separated or dislocated right shoulder, the result of a hit from behind into the boards by former teammate Mike Rupp during the second period. "There's no question they are serious," Lamoriello said of the injuries. "But to what extent? They're going to see the doctor (Sunday). They've already had X-rays and now they will be evaluated by our doctors. We won't have anything until Monday morning."

Pandolfo leaves after boarding

News: Devils LW Jay Pandolfo left Saturday's win over the Penguins after being boarded by Mike Rupp 13 minutes into the second and did not return. Coach Jacques Lemaire described Pandolfo's prognosis as "scary," and the Devils were upset with the hit. "I got rid of the puck and got hit from behind. I don't know if there's any need for that hit," Pandolfo said. "It's disappointing. I kind of had my face against the boards, for him to come and run someone who had already gotten rid of the puck, it's a little surprising he would do that."
Analysis: Luckily for Fantasy owners, Pandolfo isn't really worth owning in any format.

Pandolfo finally out of stands

News: Devils LW Jay Pandolfo will end a nine-game healthy scratch streak Wednesday when he laces up the skates against the Islanders.
Analysis: Pandolfo has been the odd man out since the arrival of Brendan Shanahan. He has never been a top offensive player, but is usually good for 10-and-10. Pandolfo has little to no Fantasy value.

Pandolfo can't crack Devils rotation

News: Devils forward Jay Pandolfo missed his fourth straight game as a healthy scratch Thursday against the Bruins.
Analysis: Pandolfo has been the odd man out since the arrival of Brendan Shanahan and it doesn't appear as though he might get back into the lineup anytime soon. He has never been a top offensive player, but is usually good for 10-and-10. Pandolfo has little to no Fantasy value.

Pandolfo odd man out Monday

News: Brendan Shanahan still has his scoring touch. Playing his first NHL game in more than eight months, Shanahan returned to the New Jersey Devils on Monday night and scored in the second period of his season debut against the Nashville Predators. Jay Pandolfo was a healthy scratch for New Jersey to make room for Shanahan, a three-time Stanley Cup champion -- all with the Detroit Red Wings.
Analysis: The 34-year-old Pandolfo has just four points in his last 23 games and hasn't given many reasons for coach Brent Sutter to keep him in the active lineup. He has never been a top offensive player, but is usually good for 10-and-10. Pandolfo has little to no Fantasy value.

Pandolfo tallies assist vs. Ducks

News: Devils LW Jay Pandolfo tallied an assist during Sunday's game against the Ducks. He has two helpers in his last six games, but hasn't scored in seven games.
Analysis: Pandolfo spent the first two months of the season logging heavy minutes for the Devils, but when he failed to produce he was dropped to the lower lines. Pandolfo averages 10-15 minutes per night, but is not a top offensive player and has limited Fantasy appeal.

Pandolfo nets fourth goal

News: Devils LW Jay Pandolfo scored his fourth goal of the season Tuesday in a win over the Blues.

Pandolfo's woes continues

News: The Sports Xchange reports that Devils LW Jay Pandolfo continues to have trouble finding the net. He hasn't scored in the last 13 games.
Analysis: Pandolfo is usually an ironman for the Devils, but he only played 54 games last season due to injury. He has managed to stay healthy in 2008-09, but he is still not asked to contribute a lot offensively. He is more important to the Devils than Fantasy owners at this time and Pandolfo has limited Fantasy appeal.

News: The Sports Xchange reports Devils LW Jay Pandolfo, who has played the last four games without checking sidekick John Madden (bruised ankle), has been freed to do things besides checking the other teams' top lines. But he's not scoring, having gone 10 games without a goal.
Analysis: Pandolfo is usually an ironman for the Devils, but he only played 54 games last season due to injury. News: Devils LW Jay Pandolfo scored his second goal of the season during a 4-3 shootout win Wednesday against the Lightning. Pandolfo gave the Devils a short-lived 3-2 lead at 15:10 of the third period, knocking in the rebound of Patrik Elias' shot when Mike Smith flopped to the ice but couldn't control the rebound.
Analysis: Pandolfo has now scored in two of his last three games. Pandolfo has managed 20-plus points for four straight seasons, but has never broken 30 points in his long career. He is more important to the Devils than Fantasy owners at this time.
