Wild's Zucker Carries Scoring Into Postseason

News: Jason Zucker scored the opening goal of Thursday's 4-2 Game 1 victory over St. Louis.
Analysis: Jason Zucker beat Jake Allen just 1:47 into the game, continuing his season-long goal-scoring trend -- with 21 goals over 51 regular-season contests, Zucker maintained what would have been a 33-goal pace over 82 games.

Zucker Pots Two For Wild

News: Jason Zucker scored a power-play goal and an empty-netter in Thursday's 4-2 victory over Nashville.
Analysis: With that, Jason Zucker's now cleared 20 goals for the first time, and in only 50 games. That's a terrifically promising rate for the future of the talented 23-year-old winger.

Wild's Zucker Could Play Tuesday

News: Jason Zucker (collarbone) appears on track to return to action Tuesday against Chicago, according to Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
Analysis: Jason Zucker, who has missed 26 games, will of course need to get through warmups without any issues for that to happen, with the report suggesting that if he plays Tuesday, Erik Haula would be the odd man out. Prior to his injury, Zucker had notched 18 goals and five helpers in 48 games for the Wild.

Wild's Zucker Scores In Return

News: Jason Zucker (collarbone) made his return to the lineup and scored his 19th goal in Tuesday's win over Chicago. It was his first game since Feb. 9.
Analysis: Quite the amazing turnaround for a player who wasn't thought to be ready to play early Tuesday. It was thought he'd be eased into action, but he was on the ice for 15:47. Jason Zucker should be back to full speed, but the Wild may rest players over the final two games now that they've clinched a playoff spot.

Wild's Zucker Likely Back In Tuesday

News: Jason Zucker (collarbone) is taking pregame warmups and looks to be in line to play Tuesday.
Analysis: It will mark Jason Zucker's first game since Feb. 9, a welcome return for the Wild after he was initially projected to be out until early May with the injury. While Zucker may take a little bit to get acclimated again after missing the previous two months, he'll provide a weapon near the net for Minnesota as it gears up for the postseason. He tallied 18 goals in 48 games prior to suffering the injury.

Wild's Zucker Off IR

News: Jason Zucker (collarbone) is no longer listed on the Wild's injured reserve list, according to the NHL's official media site reports.
Analysis: Coach Mike Yeo acknowledged after Tuesday's morning skate that there was a "possibility" Jason Zucker could play later in the evening against the Blackhawks, and the winger's activation only further adds credence to that notion. Zucker has missed the last two months while recovering from a broken clavicle, but still ranks fourth on the team with 18 goals. His impending return should provide a helpful boost to the Wild's probable postseason run.

Wild's Zucker Out Tuesday

News: Jason Zucker (shoulder) is unlikely to play Tuesday, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Jason Zucker has returned to practice, but isn't thought to be ready for game action even though the Wild could use him with Nino Niederreiter potentially out due to a foot injury. Head coach Mike Yeo has also indicated that Zucker will be eased into action when he does return.

Wild's Zucker Cleared For Contact

News: Jason Zucker (shoulder) was cleared to take contact Friday, Rachel Blount of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: The news comes as a pleasant development for the Wild, as it appeared as recent as a week the team was not expecting to have Jason Zucker available until May. However, he was back on the ice Friday with the rest of the team and didn't appear to be under any limitations. Coach Mike Yeo suggested that Zucker could possibly play in the last couple of games of the regular season next week, which would give him a proper tune-up before the playoffs begin. The winger still ranks among the team's leading goal scorers with 18 in 48 games.

Wild's Zucker Still Not Close

News: Coach Mike Yeo acknowledged that Jason Zucker (shoulder) is still not close to a return, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Jason Zucker has skated the last few days, but Yeo said that the forward isn't expected to be cleared for contact at any point in the near future. Yeo seemed to concede that the three-month timetable that the Wild initially outlined for Zucker in early February would likely hold true, putting him on track to return no earlier than May.

Wild's Zucker Likely A Month Away

News: Coach Mike Yeo indicated Friday that Jason Zucker (shoulder) is probably a month away from a return to competitive action, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Jason Zucker's broken collarbone has been healing as anticipated, but the chances of him appearing before the regular season ends Apr. 11 still seem to be rather remote. Instead, it's more likely that Zucker will target a return during the first round of the playoffs, though that assumes he won't endure any setbacks along the way in the recovery process.

Wild's Zucker Could Return During Playoffs

News: Jason Zucker (shoulder) may have a shot to return for the playoffs, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Jason Zucker has resumed skating on his own, and while it seems he's ahead of his original timetable, he still won't return by the end of the regular season. He might need the Wild to make a playoff run, which certainly isn't out of the question. The team should have a better handle on a return date following Zucker's check-up with doctors Wednesday.

Wild's Zucker Out 3 Months With Ailing Shoulder

News: Jason Zucker will require surgery on a broken clavicle suffered in Monday's game against the Canucks and will be out for three months, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Barring an unexpected deep playoff run by the Wild, Jason Zucker will have his second consecutive season end early due to surgery, after requiring a procedure on his left quad tendon last March. This setback is arguably more troubling for Zucker, as it comes in the midst of what has been a highly impressive season for the 22-year-old. After not being guaranteed of an Opening Night roster spot heading into training camp, Zucker played his way into a top-six role for the Wild, tallying 18 goals over 48 games. In Zucker's absence, Nino Niederreiter is set to join the Wild's second line of Mikko Koivu and Jason Pominville.

Wild Place Zucker On IR

News: Jason Zucker (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, KSTP.com reports.
Analysis: Coach Mike Yeo indicated Jason Zucker would be in line for an extended absence after leaving Monday's game against the Canucks with the injury, and his placement on IR would seem to verify that. Zucker won't be eligible to return to action until the Wild's Feb. 18 game against the Flames, but he would probably need to practice a few days before that date to have even a shot at playing. It doesn't sound like the Wild are optimistic on that front, so it's possible Zucker might be out for multiple weeks.

Wild's Zucker Suffers Upper-Body Injury

News: Jason Zucker suffered an upper-body injury during Monday's game against the Canucks and is expected to be sidelined for extended time, Michael Russo of the Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: An official timetable for Jason Zucker's return to the ice has not been released, although coach Mike Yeo said that he doesn't expect Zucker back on the ice in the near future. As a result, the 23-year-old should be considered out until further news is released by the Wild.

Wild's Zucker: Goals In Back-To-Back Games

News: Jason Zucker potted his 18th goal of the season in Tuesday's win over the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Jason Zucker has scored in back-to-back contests and trails only Zach Parise for the team goal lead. His sniping abilities should keep him locked into a second-line role ahead of fellow youngsters Charlie Coyle and Nino Niederreiter, neither of whom have matched Zucker's production of late.

Wild's Zucker Scores Game-Winner

News: Jason Zucker netted the game-winning goal Saturday against the Coyotes.
Analysis: The goal was Jason Zucker's 16th of the season and his first point in five games. The 23-year-old is currently playing on the top line with Mikko Koivu and Zach Parise, making him an appealing fantasy option. He's among the league's top-30 goal-scorers this season and has been credited with a solid 99 shots on goal. He won't post whooping overall point totals, but Zucker could reach 30 goals this season, making him worth a look in deeper formats.

Wild's Zucker A Smash Hit On Top Line

News: Jason Zucker bagged his 15th goal of the season and attempted five shots in Thursday's loss to the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Jason Zucker has been stellar during his two-game trial on the top line in place of Zach Parise. He's now tallied three goals, an assist and 13 shots, allowing him to overtake Parise and Nino Niederreiter for the team goal lead. If he's still floating around on the waiver wire, Zucker is probably worth scooping up -- at least while he retains a cushy role on the top trio.

Zucker's Three Points Not Enough For Wild

News: Jason Zucker factored into all three Minnesota goals Tuesday, scoring two and notching the primary assist on Jared Spurgeon's tally, but it wasn't enough in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Sharks.
Analysis: Well, you can't blame Jason Zucker, who went plus-3 on the night and unleashed eight shots on goal (his second-highest total of the season) over nearly 19 minutes of ice time. An impressive way to bounce back from the minus-4 rating he posted in a disastrous loss to Dallas on Saturday.

Wild's Zucker On Track To Play Saturday

News: Jason Zucker (illness) is set to rejoin the lineup Saturday against the Stars, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Jason Zucker seemed on track to play Friday after taking part in line rushes at the team's morning skate, but coach Mike Yeo likely chose to keep him out with the team kicking off a back-to-back set. With more time off to recover following Saturday's contest, Zucker should be in line for his usual 15 minutes of ice time. The winger has bagged 12 goals in 32 games this season, good for third on the team.

Wild's Zucker (Illness) Out Friday

News: Jason Zucker (illness) will not play Friday against the Maple Leafs, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Jason Zucker's illness will hold him out of the lineup until at least Saturday's contest against the Stars. Tyler Graovac will draw into the lineup in his place, making his home debut for the Wild.

Wild's Zucker A Game-Time Decision Friday

News: Jason Zucker (illness) will be a game-time decision for Friday's tilt with the Maple Leafs, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Though Jason Zucker was able to take part in line rushes at the team's morning skate, coach Mike Yeo said the forward was "definitely an if" for Friday's game. He's logged only one practice in the eight days, so Yeo could opt to sit him out another contest to afford him more recovery time.

Wild's Zucker (Illness) Skating Thursday

News: Jason Zucker (illness) took part in Thursday's optional skate.
Analysis: Jason Zucker has missed the last three games, including Wednesday's matchup with Columbus, with a stomach virus, but his presence at Thursday's session indicates he could be set for a return Friday.

Wild's Zucker Prepared To Sit Again Wednesday

News: Jason Zucker (illness) is projected to miss Wednesday's game against the Blue Jackets, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Coach Mike Yeo said Tuesday that Jason Zucker is still lacking energy while continuing to battle the illness. He's set to miss his third straight game with what is being classified as a stomach virus.

Wild's Zucker Out With Illness

News: Jason Zucker will miss Saturday's game against Winnipeg due to the flu, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: The Wild have been hit hard by both the mumps and stomach flu this season, but fortunately for Jason Zucker, it looks like he has the latter condition. It doesn't sound like a long-term ailment at this point, and he hasn't been ruled out from playing in Monday's rematch with the Jets.
