Bolts' Brown Grabs Two Points In Win

News: J.T. Brown collected a goal and an assist in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Lightning.
Analysis: It's been a mostly rough season for J.T. Brown, as the pair of points were his first since a goal on Jan. 6. The 24-year-old has recorded two multi-point outings on the year, but with just seven points through 44 contests this season, the winger doesn't have much fantasy value outside of the deepest formats.

Lightning's Brown Returns To Lineup

News: J.T. Brown (upper body) will return to action Thursday against the Bruins, ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: J.T. Brown's return after a three-game absence comes at a good time for the Lightning, who lost forwards Ondrej Palat and Cedric Paquette to injuries in Tuesday's game against Montreal.

Bolts' Brown To Sit Out Third Straight Tuesday

News: J.T. Brown (upper body) will not play Tuesday against the Canadiens, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: J.T. Brown was able to take part in the Bolts' optional skate Tuesday morning, but the team has elected to hold him out for a third straight game as a precaution. With a collection of forwards as deep as Tampa Bay's, there's simply no reason for Brown to be rushed back into action at less than 100 percent and risk worsening his injury. He could be ready to go for Thursday's game against the Bruins.

Bolts' Brown To Remain Out Saturday

News: J.T. Brown (upper body) will not play Saturday against the Stars, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: J.T. Brown skated again Saturday, but since he's not quite 100 percent just yet, he'll be held out of a second straight game. Coach Jon Cooper indicated that Brown is "close" to a return, and is expected to be back in the lineup no later than Thursday's tilt with the Bruins.

Bolts' Brown Could Be Out Again Saturday

News: J.T. Brown (upper body) was a participant in Friday's full-contact practice, NHL.com's Bryan Burns reports.
Analysis: J.T. Brown's upper-body injury is considered minor, but he's still been consulting with team trainers the last few days to get a handle on the issue. Coach Jon Cooper hasn't ruled Brown out from playing Saturday against the Stars, but Tuesday's tilt with the Habs may represent a more realistic target return date.

Lightning's Brown Out Thursday

News: J.T. Brown (upper body) won't play Thursday against the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: Coach Jon Cooper relayed in advance of Thursday's contest that J.T. Brown is "banged up. Nothing long-term, serious, but he's a no go tonight." As a result, look for Vladislav Namestnikov to fill in up front for Brown on Thursday.

Bolts' Brown Returns To Practice

News: J.T. Brown (illness) was back at practice Thursday, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: J.T. Brown sat out Tuesday's session with the illness, but it looks like he should be fully healthy entering Friday's game against the Blackhawks.

Bolts' Brown Misses Practice With Illness

News: J.T. Brown missed Tuesday's practice due to an illness, Matt Baker of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: Assuming that J.T. Brown's illness isn't a particularly nasty strain of the flu, the forward should be an option for Friday's game against the Blackhawks. He's been a frequent healthy scratch for the Bolts this season, however, so there's not much of a guarantee on any given night that he'll suit up.

Bolts' Brown Scratched Again

News: J.T. Brown will be a healthy scratch Friday.
Analysis: He has played just twice since Dec. 19, but did record a goal Tuesday against Montreal. He has seen his ice time dwindle this season as other young, but more talented teammates have overtaken him.

Tampa's Brown Mired In Slump

News: J.T. Brown has been a healthy scratch the last two games. He has just one point in his last 13 games and four points overall in 26 games this season.
Analysis: The Bolts are deep up front and a lot of guys -- not including J.T. Brown -- are having solid, if not breakout seasons. He's a fringe fantasy guy and should be jettisoned to the wire until he lights a fire under his game.

Two-Point Night For Bolts' Brown

News: J.T. Brown registered a goal and assist in Saturday's 7-4 win over the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: J.T. Brown had mustered just one point in his first 12 games of the season, but he was one of several Lightning skaters to take advantage of Columbus' helpless defense. His goal came on a redirected blocked shot less than six minutes into the first period, kicking off a run of four unanswered tallies by the Bolts

Bolts' Brown To Play Tuesday

News: J.T. Brown (upper body) will be back in the lineup Tuesday against the Coyotes, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: J.T. Brown missed just one contest due to the injury, which he suffered in Friday's loss to the Jets. He's expected to slot back in on the Bolts' fourth line, but doesn't figure to provide much noteworthy production in any one fantasy category.

Bolts' Brown Ruled Out Saturday

News: J.T. Brown is day-to-day with an upper-body injury and will not play Saturday against the Wild, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: It's assumed that J.T. Brown suffered the injury at some point in Friday's loss to the Wild. Fellow winger Brett Connolly also fell victim to injury and will not be available Saturday, prompting the team to promote Jonathan Marchessault and Michael Blunden to the NHL squad to replenish some depth at forward.

Bolts' Brown Inks Two-Year Extension

News: J.T. Brown signed a two-year, $1.9 million extension with the Lightning on Wednesday, TSN's Darren Dreger reports.
Analysis: J.T. Brown served primarily as a depth forward for the Bolts last season, totaling four goals and 15 assists over 63 games. He's slated to serve in a similar capacity over the life of the deal, but injuries to a top-six forward could open the door for him to assume a greater role.

Assists Trickling In For Bolts' Brown

News: J.T. Brown gathered assists in five of his last 12 games before the Olympic break.
Analysis: It's not world-beating production by any means, but certainly a serviceable output from a bottom-six forward. Even so, J.T. Brown should only be a deep league consideration at this point.

Bolts' Brown Returns To Action

News: J.T. Brown (shoulder) returned to the lineup Saturday, logging 12:49 of ice time.
Analysis: He fired off three shots on goal and picked up a hit in the 6-3 victory over the Flyers. Look for him to slot in on the third line with Nikita Kucherov and Nate Thompson until further notice.

Bolts' Brown Practices Friday

News: J.T. Brown (shoulder) was on the ice for Friday's practice, Damian Cristodero of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: J.T. Brown missed his second straight game Thursday due to the injury, but his return to practice would seem to bode well for his status for the weekend. Coach Jon Cooper probably won't sign off on his return to action until reevaluating him following Saturday's morning skate.

Bolts' Brown Out For Thursday

News: J.T. Brown (shoulder) will not play Thursday against the Capitals, Damian Cristodero of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: It's the second straight game he'll miss on account of the injury, but the Lightning haven't suggested that a trip to IR is on the horizon. Tom Pyatt enters the lineup Thursday in his stead.

Bolts' Brown Questionable For Tuesday

News: J.T. Brown (shoulder) is considered questionable for Tuesday's matchup against the Jets, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: J.T. Brown has just eight points over 25 games this season, but had been heating up before suffering the right shoulder injury. If he can pick up where he left off, he may be worth some fantasy consideration.

Lightning's Brown Scores Twice

News: J.T. Brown lit the lamp twice on six shots on goal Monday against the Panthers.
Analysis: J.T. Brown only has four goals and eight points in 20 games, but six of the those points have come in the last eight games. It appears his game has started to settle and he should provide depth support in many formats.

Bolts Brown: Four Points In Last Five Games

News: J.T. Brown picked up an assist Tuesday in a shutout win over the Islanders. He now has four points (one goal, three assists) in his last five games.
Analysis: Bolts' coach Jon Cooper must really trust this guy -- he put him on the ice in the last minute of play when his team was down a goal and J.T. Brown set up the winner with just four seconds left. Pick him up -- it looks like he's going to get some decent opportunities, at least in the short term.

Brown Busy In Lightning Loss

News: J.T. Brown and Tampa Bay did not score in Friday's 1-0 overtime loss to Anaheim, but Brown led all Lightning players with six shots on goal.
Analysis: J.T. Brown's six shots were a nice stat line, but even more worth noting is his 3:58 of power play ice time as part of his total 13:22, close to a third of his total time on ice. Brown has two points in six NHL games and could be worth watching if he sees this much power-play time with regularity. He wasn't a big scorer in college (UM-Duluth) or the AHL with Syracuse but does have some offensive flair to his game.

Bolts' Brown Nets First NHL Goal

News: J.T. Brown scored his first NHL goal in a 6-3 loss to Phoenix on Saturday night. He now has two points in three NHL games.
Analysis: He doesn't profile as an offensive wizard, but he's a decent playmaker and a future third-line fixture. He's getting his shot now because of Steven Stamkos' injury. It remains to be seen if he'll stick with the club or if someone else will get a shot at big club minutes, too.

Bolts Recall Brown

News: J.T. Brown was recalled from AHL Syracuse by the Lightning on Tuesday, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: J.T. Brown was called up to provide some offensive depth after the Lightning lost one of the NHL's top players, Steven Stamkos, to a broken tibia. In 13 games with AHL Syracuse this season, Brown has scored four goals and added six assists. He has played in five career NHL games, but none since the 2011-12 season.

Bolts' Prospect Brown Might Earn Job With Big Club

News: J.T. Brown is one of five AHL players who will get a long look at training camp this fall, according to the Tampa Tribune.
Analysis: J.T. Brown is in tough against AHL MVP Tyler Johnson, Richard Panik, Ondrej Palat and Brett Connolly, so it'll come down to role flexibility. The camp battle will be outstanding.
