Analysis: The 33-year-old right wing signed as a free agent on Oct. 4, 2007. He has two goals and three assists in 21 games this season. Johnson was considered a low-end Fantasy reserve.

News: St. Louis Blues forward Mike Johnson will undergo season-ending surgery on his left shoulder. Johnson, who has a torn labrum, is scheduled to have the surgery Wednesday.
Analysis: The 33-year-old right wing signed as a free agent on Oct. 4, 2007. He has two goals and three assists in 21 games this season. He did not dress in the three games before Friday night's game in Columbus. Johnson was considered a low-end Fantasy reserve.

Blues' Johnson to have shoulder surgery

News: St. Louis Blues RW Mike Johnson will have shoulder surgery on his injured left shoulder next week and will be out for the rest of the season, TSN reports. Johnson has not played since sustaining the injury in a game on January 2nd against the Edmonton Oilers.
Analysis: After signing with the Blues as a free-agent in October the Scarborough native has two goals and three assists in 21 games. Johnson was considered a low-end Fantasy reserve.

News: Blues RW Mike Johnson scored his first goal with St. Louis on Wednesday against the Sabres. He also had an assist and a plus-2 rating in the game. All three of his points (1 G, 2 A) have come in the last three games.
Analysis: Johnson, who has played in just 10 games this season, seems to have found a home on the Blues second line in recent games. If he keeps producing, he might find a permanent home in the Blues lineup. Right now, he is nothing more than a low-end Fantasy reserve.

News: The St. Louis Blues signed veteran right wing Mike Johnson on Thursday. The 33-year-old Johnson played last season in Montreal and had 11 goals, 20 assists and 40 penalty minutes. Johnson, a 10-year veteran with 127 career goals, has scored 20 or more goals twice in a career that has also included stops in Phoenix, Tampa Bay and Toronto. His best season was 2002-03 in Phoenix, where Johnson had career highs with 23 goals and 40 assists.
Analysis: Johnson might be worth a look in larger leagues, but you might want to see what sort of ice time he gets in St. Louis before picking him up.

RW Johnson to the top line?

News: The Montreal Gazette reports coach Guy Carbonneau has decided to move Mike Johnson to the top scoring line and he moved defenseman Mark Streit to the second line for some offensive help.
Analysis: Johnson is worth a look in all larger Fantasy leagues, although this might be just a temporary move. As far as Streit, his positional versatility would make him an excellent pickup in all Fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams, especially if you are hurting at either position.

News: The Montreal Canadiens are riding their third-line combination of Christopher Higgins, Tomas Plekanec and Mike Johnson. Johnson scored a goal and Plekanec added two assists in Tuesday's game at Philadelphia, while Higgins had a goal and assist.
Analysis: Higgins scored the go-ahead goal midway through the second period and added an assist to help the Canadiens beat Philadelphia 4-2 on Thursday night, handing the Flyers their fifth straight loss. "I think we've got a lot of depth on this team," Higgins said. "Now with (Tomas) Plekanec and (Mike) Johnson, we're adding a little more offense and a little more creativity to the line."

Analysis: Johnson has had a strong start to the season as he is now up to eight points (4 G, 4 A) and has a plus-6 rating. Johnson has the potential to have a big season with the Habs and should be considered a decent reserve forward in most Fantasy formats.

News: The Phoenix Coyotes traded Johnson to the Montreal Canadiens for a fourth-round pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
Analysis: Johnson posted 16 goals and 38 assists in 80 games with the Coyotes in 2005-06. He might see a little more Fantasy appeal with the Canadiens depending on whether he can skate on a line with Saku Koivu, Alexei Kovalev or Sergei Samsonov.
