Preds' Cullen Back In Saturday

News: Matt Cullen (lower body) will return to the lineup Saturday against the Stars, Robby Stanley of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: The Predators are gradually beginning to get healthy again, as all of Matt Cullen, Shea Weber, and James Neal will return to the lineup Saturday following multi-game absences. Cullen's return is the least significant of the trio for fantasy purposes, as he's only produced seven goals and 24 points across 58 games for the Predators. Nonetheless, he's a valuable depth forward for the squad, and will be tasked with centering the third line during Saturday's game.

Preds' Cullen Practices Thursday

News: Matt Cullen (lower body) practiced with the team Thursday.
Analysis: Matt Cullen centered the Preds' third line during the session, with coach Peter Laviolette indicating afterward that he was pleased with how the forward looked during the session. While Cullen could be on track to play Saturday against the Stars, the team probably won't know for certain if that will be the case until after Friday's practice.

Preds' Cullen Skates Tuesday Morning

News: Matt Cullen (lower body) skated with the team Tuesday morning, but will not play later in the evening against the Canucks, John Glennon of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Matt Cullen will sit for a fifth straight game while he tends to the injury. His return to the ice in some capacity suggests he could soon reenter the lineup, but he won't get his next chance to do so until Saturday's home date with the Stars.

News: Matt Cullen (lower body) will not play Sunday against the Flames.
Analysis: We'll revisit the playing status of Matt Cullen as Tuesday's game against the Canucks approaches.

Preds' Cullen Out Again Saturday

News: Matt Cullen (lower body) will not play Saturday against the Capitals.
Analysis: The forward will sit out a third straight game with the injury, allowing recent AHL call-up Viktor Arvidsson to earn another turn in the Nashville lineup.

Preds' Cullen Sits Again Thursday

News: Matt Cullen (lower body) will not play Thursday against the Lightning, Adam Vingan of the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Matt Cullen is traveling with the Predators on their two-game road trip, but with the lower-body ailment evidently still dogging him, he'll be forced out of a second straight contest.

Preds' Cullen To Go On Road Trip

News: Matt Cullen (lower body) will travel with the Predators on their two-game road trip beginning Thursday in Tampa Bay.
Analysis: After being ruled out of Tuesday's win over the Canadiens due to the injury, Matt Cullen was on the ice for Wednesday's practice. While his participation in drills would seem to suggest his injury isn't too severe, the Predators are still keeping around emergency call-up Kevin Fiala in the event Cullen isn't ready to play by Thursday.

Preds' Cullen Has Lower-Body Injury

News: Matt Cullen is missing Tuesday's game against the Canadiens due to a lower-body injury, Adam Vignan of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: The Predators are listing him as day-to-day, with his next crack at playing set to arrive Thursday in Tampa Bay. Matt Cullen, who will sit out his 16th game of the season Tuesday, has produced seven goals and 17 assists over 58 contests.

Preds' Cullen Out Tuesday

News: Matt Cullen (undisclosed) isn't on the ice for pregame warmups and appears in line to miss Tuesday's tilt with the Canadiens.
Analysis: With both Matt Cullen and Viktor Stalberg not skating due to undisclosed injuries, emergency call-up Kevin Fiala will join the lineup to fill out the Preds' forward ranks. Cullen was able to skate Tuesday morning before being ruled out, so there's still a chance he could be ready to go for Thursday's tilt with the Lightning.

Preds' Cullen A Game-Time Decision

News: Matt Cullen is nursing an undisclosed injury and will be a game-time decision for Tuesday's game against the Canadiens, Adam Vignan of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Matt Cullen was present for Tuesday's morning skate, but he missed Monday's practice for what was deemed to be maintenance purposes. Though Cullen didn't take part in line rushes at the morning skate, he was generally expected to fill in for Viktor Stalberg, who left the session with the injury. However, the Predators' emergency recall of Kevin Fiala suggests both Cullen and Stalberg are now both at risk of sitting out Tuesday's tilt with injuries. Cullen's status likely won't be made clear until the Predators conduct pregame warmups a half hour before the 8:00 ET puck drop.

Preds' Cullen Could Be Out Tuesday

News: Matt Cullen didn't participate in line rushes during the Predators' morning skate and could be out of the lineup Tuesday against the Canadiens.
Analysis: Matt Cullen received practice off Monday for maintenance purposes, but his return to the ice a day later suggests the forward isn't nursing an injury concern. However, it looks like he could be at risk of serving as a healthy scratch Tuesday, despite producing points in each of the last two games. There could still be an opening into the Nashville lineup after Viktor Stalberg was forced to exit the morning skate with an injury, but if Stalberg is able to participate in warmups without incident, Cullen would likely be forced to head to the press box for the night.

Preds' Cullen Collects Two Helpers

News: Matt Cullen recorded two assists in Saturday's win over the Sabres.
Analysis: That's four points in four games for Matt Cullen, who is up to seven goals and 24 points in 58 games on the season. He's been very streaky, but if you can deal with the slumps, the 38-year-old has enough offensive skill to be of value in some very deep leagues.

Preds' Cullen Stays Hot With Goal

News: Matt Cullen scored the team's lone goal in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: Matt Cullen has been on a tear recently, finding the scoresheet in each of his last four games while tallying six points in that span. The 38-year-old has just 20 points on the season, but more than half of them have come in his last 13 games, so the veteran could be worth taking a flyer on while he's hot.

Preds' Cullen Scores; Adds Assist Saturday

News: Matt Cullen scored a goal and gathered an assist in while receiving 10:46 TOI in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Red Wings.
Analysis: The 38-year-old now has a five-point, three-game point streak on the go, which is quite impressive given that he's only played a combined 34:55 during that span. Matt Cullen's modest totals (six goals, 13 assists, plus-9, 14 PIM, 74 SOG) in 48 games leave him outside the realm of fantasy relevance in nearly all leagues. However, looking at the last 12 games -- where he's racked up 10 of his total 19 points on the season -- paints a picture of an upward trend that savvy owners should consider capitalizing on, especially since he's been playing with offensively-inclined linemates in Mike Fisher and Craig Smith regularly of late.

Preds' Cullen Helps Out Tuesday

News: Matt Cullen assisted on both Nashville goals and went plus-2 with two penalty minutes Thursday against the Wild.
Analysis: Can't blame the 4-2 loss on Matt Cullen, that's for sure. The veteran's been surprisingly productive of late, with six points in his last seven games, but his fantasy value is largely restricted to very deep formats.

Preds' Cullen: Four Points In Last Five Games

News: Matt Cullen scored his first goal since Dec. 20 when he tallied a goal and an assist in Saturday's win over the Devils. He has four points (one goal, three assists) in his last five games.
Analysis: He's also put up a plus-four rating and has four PIM in that span, too. His season had been a disappointment until now, but this little burst could give you some depth production if you can shuffle the deck.

Preds' Cullen Struggling Offensively

News: Matt Cullen has zero points in 10 games since returning from an upper-body injury in early January.
Analysis: Matt Cullen now has just nine points in 35 games so far this season, a far cry from the 39 points in 77 contests he posted last year. Part of the problem is, the Preds went out and bolstered their offense in the offseason, which effectively pushed Cullen to a third-line role in which opportunities to contribute offensively are harder to come by. As a result, he merits attention in the deepest of fantasy formats only.

Preds' Cullen Activated From IR

News: Matt Cullen (upper body), who returned to practice Friday, has been activated from injured reserve, Eric Stromgren of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Taylor Beck (illness) was also activated, and it seems both forwards will be ready for Saturday's game against the Wild. Meanwhile, James Neal (lower body) remains on injured reserve, but he has not officially been ruled out.

Preds' Cullen (Upper Body) Practices

News: Matt Cullen (upper body) returned to practice Friday, Eric Stromgren of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: The 38-year-old has been out for nearly two weeks with the injury, but the return to practice suggests he might be nearing an activation. With the Predators returning Miikka Salomaki to the AHL on Friday, it would seem that one of three injured forwards -- Matt Cullen, James Neal (lower body), or Taylor Beck (illness) -- is primed to return for Saturday's game against the Wild.

Preds' Cullen (Upper Body) Lands On IR

News: Matt Cullen (upper body) has been placed on injured reserve, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Matt Cullen has just nine points in 25 games so far this season, so he hasn't made much of a fantasy impact. Feel free to put him on your bench until he gets the green light to return.

Preds' Cullen (Upper Body) To Sit Out Tuesday

News: Matt Cullen (upper body) will not play Tuesday against the Blues, Eric Stromgren of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Matt Cullen will miss his second straight game due to the injury, while Gabriel Bourque fills in for him in the Preds' bottom six. The forward is considered day-to-day for the time being.

Preds' Cullen To Sit Monday

News: Matt Cullen will miss Monday's game against the Blackhawks with an undisclosed injury, Eric Stromgren of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Matt Cullen wasn't present for the Predators' morning skate and will thus be forced to sit out the matchup with the divisional rival. Gabriel Bourque is set to assume Cullen's spot in the lineup while he remains day-to-day.

Two Points For Preds' Cullen In Win

News: Matt Cullen registered his fourth goal of the season and added an assist in Saturday's win over the Wild.
Analysis: Matt Cullen is now up to four goals and nine points in 22 games, to go with a minus-1 rating. The second-liner is a decent secondary scorer who can contribute 10-15 goals, making him valuable in some very deep leagues.

Preds' Cullen Back In Action

News: Matt Cullen returned from an upper-body injury over the weekend. He skated 11:57 in Saturday's win over the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: Matt Cullen missed just one contest due to the injury, but his role with the Predators appears to be on the decline nonetheless. The team welcomed back Mike Fisher (Achilles) to the lineup on Thanksgiving, and his presence may force Cullen to settle for fourth-line duties.

Preds' Cullen Scratched With Injury

News: Matt Cullen was held out of Thursday's 1-0 win over the Oilers due to an upper-body injury, the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: It appeared Matt Cullen was headed for the press box after he failed to take part in the team's morning skate, but the assumption was that he was healthy. Instead, it sounds like he may have suffered the injury in Tuesday's game against the Kings, and he's now considered day-to-day as a result.
