Wings' Sheahan Nets Game Winner

News: Riley Sheahan scored the game-winning goal in Saturday's 4-0 win over Tampa Bay. He is riding a three-game, three-point scoring streak.
Analysis: He's delivering clutch points and is seeing time on the power play where two of those three points -- both goals -- have come. Great postseason debut.

Wings' Sheahan Scores First Playoff Goal

News: Riley Sheahan scored his first career NHL playoff goal on the power play Tuesday in a 3-0 Game 3 victory over Tampa Bay.
Analysis: Riley Sheahan skated just 10:25 in the game, but was able to produce his first point since April 4. Fantasy owners couldn't have been happy with his fairly modest 36-point output despite increased minutes this year, but Wings fans were sure happy about the 2-0 cushion he gave them with his third-period tally.

Wings' Sheahan To Play Thursday

News: Riley Sheahan passed his concussion test and has been cleared to play Thursday against the Bruins, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Analysis: With the Red Wings down three forwards in Pavel Datsyuk, Erik Cole, and Thomas Jurco, Riley Sheahan figures to be plugged back into the lineup immediately, likely as the team's second-line center. Sheahan, who has 12 goals and 34 points in 73 games this season, was forced to miss three contests with the injury.

Wings' Sheahan Must Pass Concussion Test

News: Riley Sheahan must pass a concussion test before playing in Thursday against the Bruins, Ansar Khan of MLive reports.
Analysis: He has been symptom-free for a few days, but still has to pass the pivotal test to get in the lineup Thursday. He will likely be a game-time decision at this point.

Wings' Sheahan Expected To Play Thursday

News: The Red Wings are expecting to have Riley Sheahan (upper body) back in the lineup Thursday against the Bruins, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Analysis: After it was initially believed that he would play in Tuesday's loss to the Senators, Riley Sheahan was ruled out for a third straight contest shortly before warmups. Even so, it doesn't sound like it was due to any sort of major setback, as he was able to return to the ice for Wednesday's practice, according to MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports. The Red Wings will make an official decision on Sheahan's status for Thursday's game following their team skate that morning.

Red Wings' Sheahan Scratched Tuesday

News: Updating a previous report, Riley Sheahan (upper body) will not play Tuesday against the Senators, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.
Analysis: Though the team's official site reported after the morning skate that Riley Sheahan would draw back into the lineup Tuesday, the center never took the ice for warmups and will now sit out a third straight game. With Pavel Datsyuk (lower body) also a surprise scratch for the game, Stephen Weiss and Dan Cleary will both reenter the lineup.

Detroit's Sheahan To Return Tuesday

News: Riley Sheahan (upper body) will return to the lineup Tuesday against the Senators.
Analysis: This is a welcome return for the Wings, as Riley Sheahan is having a decent year with 34 points in 73 games. Based on Tuesday's line rushes, he's slated to work on a trio with Tomas Jurco and Teemu Pulkkinen on Tuesday.

Wings' Sheahan (Upper Body) Not With Team

News: Riley Sheahan (upper body) did not travel with the team to Long Island for Sunday's matchup with the Islanders, the Detroit News reports.
Analysis: Neither Riley Sheahan nor Erik Cole (upper body) made the trip, but the team has not commented on how long it expects to be without both players. Sheahan is reportedly showing improvement, however, so it does not appear he'll be sidelined for too much longer.

Wings' Sheahan To Travel With Team

News: Riley Sheahan (upper body) will travel with the Red Wings to New York for Sunday's game against the Islanders, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.
Analysis: Though Riley Sheahan will miss his first game of the season Saturday against the Lightning, it doesn't appear that the center will be unavailable for very long. General manager Ken Holland said before Saturday's game that Sheahan has reported improvement with his condition and is being viewed as day-to-day. It's possible that he might suit up for Sunday's game, though it's probably more likely that the team will give him some additional time off to recover.

Wings' Sheahan Out Saturday With Injury

News: Riley Sheahan will miss Saturday's game against the Lightning with an upper-body injury, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.
Analysis: GM Ken Holland labeled Riley Sheahan as day-to-day, so though it would seem unlikely, there's still a chance the forward could suit up Sunday in Long Island. Sheahan, who had been filling in for the injured Pavel Datsyuk (lower body) in the Red Wings' top-six ranks of late, had suited up in each of the team's previous 73 games this season, tallying 12 goals and 22 assists.

Wings' Sheahan Gathers Two Points

News: Riley Sheahan collected a goal and an assist in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Penguins.
Analysis: Riley Sheahan has worked his way on to the score sheet just twice in his last eight contests, but they've both been multi-point efforts as he also collected a goal and an assist in last week's win over the Oilers. His level of production has really helped out the Red Wings in his bottom-six forward role, but it doesn't always translate over for fantasy owners.

Wings' Sheahan Picks Up Two Points

News: Riley Sheahan tallied a goal and an assist in Monday's 5-2 win over the Oilers.
Analysis: The multi-point effort snapped a four game pointless streak for Riley Sheahan, who had last scored Feb. 23. The 23-year-old has 31 points on the year, a solid total for a bottom-six forward, and while he may not help fantasy owners much this season, the center has flashed intriguing potential going forward.

Wings' Sheahan Collects Assist In Shootout Win

News: Riley Sheahan collected an assist in Wednesday's shootout win over the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Riley Sheahan remains stuck in a third-line role at the moment for the Red Wings, which hasn't lent itself to an overwhelming amount of offense this season. That being said, the 23-year-old has done well to bring some level of productivity to the team's bottom-six ranks, as his nine goals and 26 points in 56 games represent a respectable output for a player of his ilk.

Wings' Sheahan Notches Two Assists On Tuesday

News: Riley Sheahan set up two goals in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Panthers.
Analysis: Riley Sheahan is developing a nice rapport on a line with Stephen Weiss and Luke Glendening. At 23 years old, he shouldn't be relied upon for consistent offensive production but it's clear that he has the potential to become an important player for the Red Wings, current leaders of the Atlantic Division.

Wings' Sheahan Assists On Two Saturday

News: Riley Sheahan gathered two assists and two PIM in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Predators.
Analysis: Riley Sheahan connected with Gustav Nyquist and Tomas Tatar on goals, an arrangement that could give the center some sneaky fantasy value while he retains a role on the team's second line. Monitor his production over the next few games to see if he's able to take advantage of the top-six deployment.

Wings' Sheahan Ends Scoring Drought

News: Riley Sheahan scored his first goal in 10 games Wednesday against the Flames.
Analysis: While the goal is certainly nice, Riley Sheahan is simply not a reliable offensive producer, having totaled a mere two points in his last 10 games. Sheahan's fantasy value is severely limited by his lack of offensive production, as he is not the type of player who will post any sort of substantial numbers in PIM, hits, or blocks.

Two Helpers For Wings' Sheahan

News: Riley Sheahan handed out a pair of assists and went plus-2 Thursday in a 5-2 victory over the Stars.
Analysis: Riley Sheahan has been a fairly regular visitor to the scoresheet over the last three weeks, having tallied nine points in his last 10 games. The 2010 first-round pick is showing signs of real offensive development as he approaches his 23rd birthday, which will come Sunday.

Red Wings' Sheahan Gets Third Goal In Five Games

News: Riley Sheahan found the back of the net for his fourth goal of the season in Monday's win over the Senators.
Analysis: Currently centering the Red Wings' second line, Riley Sheahan has helped the attack rolling in the absence of Pavel Datsyuk. He's tallied three goals and two assists over his last five games, and though he figures to gradually fall off that pace, he might be worth a pickup in deeper formats while he continues to sizzle.

Wings' Sheahan Scores In Second Straight

News: Riley Sheahan scored a goal for the second consecutive game and added a power-play assist Tuesday against Columbus.
Analysis: While his little surge (which also includes nine shots on goal) over the last two games is nice, Riley Sheahan is not a reliable offensive producer, having totaled just eight points in 18 games. That -- combined with his lack of PIM, hits and blocks -- severely limits his fantasy value.

Wings' Sheahan Scores In Loss

News: Riley Sheahan notched a power-play goal to account for all the Wings' scoring in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Canadiens.
Analysis: It was Riley Sheahan's second goal of the season. which puts him in good position to top last year's nine goals. He's been logging time on the power play, but still doesn't have much fantasy value right now.

Wings' Sheahan Heating Up

News: Riley Sheahan notched an assist in Sunday's 3-2 shootout loss to Buffalo.
Analysis: Following a tough start to the season, Riley Sheahan now has three points in his last four games. While he is not eminently valuable fantasy-wise, he and Tomas Tatar are finally starting to find the net a little more, which is excellent news for the Wings.

Detroit's Sheahan Claims First Goal

News: Riley Sheahan supplied his first goal of the season in Saturday's loss to the Flyers.
Analysis: Riley Sheahan's was able to place the puck in an opening above goalie Ray Emery's shoulder to stake the Red Wings to an early 1-0 lead in the first period. The fourth-liner is typically asked to pivot Detroit's second power-play unit, but he has yet to produce a point on the man advantage this season.

Wings' Sheahan Impressing In Preseason

News: Riley Sheahan netted a goal in a 3-0 preseason victory over Toronto on Monday.
Analysis: Coach Mike Babcock has called Riley Sheahan's line the best performing so far this preseason, as Sheahan, Tomas Tatar and Tomas Jurco have gelled well. Sheahan may have to relent his spot on the line when Gustav Nyquist comes back, but Sheahan is certainly getting closer to finding a spot on the Wings' roster.

Sheahan Re-Signs With Detroit

News: The Red Wings have signed Riley Sheahan to a two-year extension, reportedly worth $950,000 per season, MLive.com reports.
Analysis: The 2010 first-rounder filled in well for the Red Wings this past season when the team was hit with injuries up front. In the process, the 22-year-old -- who was set to become a restricted free agent -- recorded nine goals and 15 assists in 42 games for Detroit.

Red Wings Reassign Sheahan

News: Riley Sheahan was reassigned to AHL Grand Rapids on Sunday, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Analysis: Riley Sheahan had seen in ice time decline considerably Saturday, logging just 12:41 of ice time. With the Red Wings now eliminated from the playoffs, he'll head back to the minors for further seasoning.
