Analysis: The 2010 first-rounder filled in well for the Red Wings this past season when the team was hit with injuries up front. In the process, the 22-year-old -- who was set to become a restricted free agent -- recorded nine goals and 15 assists in 42 games for Detroit.

Red Wings' Sheahan Extends Goal Streak To Three

News: Riley Sheahan scored a goal Sunday against the Blues, bringing his streak to three consecutive games with a marker.
Analysis: Riley Sheahan's late-season emergence has been a welcome development with Henrik Zetterberg (concussion) not expected to be ready for the start of the playoffs. While Zetterberg remains out, Sheahan will be counted to stay productive alongside Gustav Nyquist and Tomas Tatar on the second line.

Red Wings' Sheahan Ends Scoring Slump

News: Riley Sheahan tallied the game-tying goal before the Red Wings ultimately fell in a shootout Wednesday against the Penguins.
Analysis: Riley Sheahan's goal was his first in six games, and came with just 75 seconds left in the third period, allowing the Red Wings to claim a point. He ended up finishing plus-2 on the night, but did lose 10 of his 13 faceoffs.

Wings' Sheahan Supplies Two Points Thursday

News: Riley Sheahan finished with a goal and an assist in Thursday's loss to the Canadiens.
Analysis: With the Red Wings still without several key forwards, Riley Sheahan has been able to carve out a top-six role since the Olympics and has certainly made the most of it. The 22-year-old has 10 points in 15 second-half contests, with a goal and five helpers coming in his last five.

Wings' Rookie Sheahan Dishes Out Two Assists

News: Riley Sheahan set up two goals Saturday -- including Gustav Nyquist's game-winner in the third -- as the Wings downed the Wild 3-2.
Analysis: Keeper leaguers take notice: the Wings' 2010 first-round pick now has 18 points in 30 games in his first NHL season and is averaging over two minutes per game on the power play. He may not help you much now, but you should definitely file him away on your watchlist for next season.

Sheahan Scores In Wings Win

News: Riley Sheahan scored Detroit's only goal in Friday's 2-1 shootout win over Edmonton.
Analysis: Riley Sheahan was recalled from the AHL prior to the Olympic break ending as the Wings are desperately in need of centers. Sheahan won't score terribly often, but he is seeing added ice time considering the dearth of centers the Wings currently boast.

News: The Red Wings recalled Riley Sheahan from AHL Grand Rapids on Saturday, CBS Detroit reports.

Wings Recall Sheahan

News: The Red Wings recalled Riley Sheahan from AHL Grand Rapids on Wednesday.
Analysis: The center could be headed back to Grand Rapids when some of the team's other players get healthy, but he's up with the big club for now. With three goals and eight assists in 18 games, Riley Sheahan has shown the ability to chip in offensively fairly consistently.

Detroit's Sheahan To Play In AHL Over Break

News: Riley Sheahan will play in the AHL over the Olympic break, Ansar Khan of MLive reports.
Analysis: The Red Wings have a tough decision to make when they resume play after the Olympics, as Riley Sheahan has played excellent hockey this season. He had 10 points in 17 games in which nearly every Detroit center got hurt, but now that nearly everyone is healthy, the Red Wings must choose whether to keep Sheahan in Grand Rapids.

Red Wings' Sheahan Tallies Two Points

News: Riley Sheahan scored a power-play goal and added an assist against the Panthers on Sunday.
Analysis: It seems Riley Sheahan has secured a spot with Detroit, at least for the near future. He has four points in his last four games, and that certainly doesn't hurt his chances of avoiding a return to Grand Rapids.

Detroit's Sheahan Registers Assist

News: Riley Sheahan had an assist Monday in a 4-1 loss to the Blues.
Analysis: Riley Sheahan has been a pleasant surprise for the Red Wings this season, as he has filled in for injuries with five points in nine games. With the injury issue still looming large for Detroit, Sheahan is a decent short-term solution at forward.

Sheahan's Tally Helps Detroit Beat LA

News: Riley Sheahan scored his first NHL goal in Saturday's 3-1 win at Los Angeles. He stands at 1-3-4 with a plus-4 rating in five starts this season.
Analysis: It's always a pleasure to salute a milestone like this. There should be plenty more tallies over his career, but he probably has limited fantasy value this season, given the Red Wings' depth at forward.

Red Wings Recall Sheahan

News: Riley Sheahan was recalled from AHL Grand Rapids on Friday, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Red Wings To Demote Sheahan

News: Riley Sheahan was absent at Friday's practice and will be sent down to AHL Grand Rapids on Saturday, Chuck Pleiness of the Macomb Daily reports.
Analysis: After Henrik Zetterberg practiced fully Friday and was cleared to return to action Saturday vs. the Panthers, Riley Sheahan will head back to the minors to open up a roster spot. Sheahan appeared in two games for the Red Wings, supplying two assists and a plus-2 rating during that time.

Red Wings Recall Sheahan

News: The Red Wings recalled Riley Sheahan from AHL Grand Rapids on Monday, Ted Kulfan of The Detroit News reports.
Analysis: Riley Sheahan was brought up to help provide some depth at the center position until Johan Franzen, who suffered a head injury Sunday, is able to play again. Sheahan has appeared in just two NHL games, but the 2010 first-rounder may get his first shot at extended playing time at the top level depending on whether Franzen suffered a concussion.

Red Wings Send Sheahan To AHL

News: Riley Sheahan has been returned to AHL Grand Rapids by the Red Wings.
Analysis: Riley Sheahan -- the 21st overall pick in the 2010 drfat -- saw 6:47 worth of ice time in Sunday's loss to the Blues, but he'll head back to the AHL for additional seasoning, which coach Mike Babcock indicated the young forward needs, citing a need for Sheahan to "get quicker and play with more pace."
