Blues' Jokinen Nets Game-Winner Vs. Blackhawks

News: Olli Jokinen notched the game-winning goal Sunday against Chicago.
Analysis: It was just the fourth goal of the season for Olli Jokinen, who skated just 8:42 in the win. The veteran, who is currently skating on the third line, has managed two points in six games with the Blues, but is still stuck at nine points in 60 games on the season. Considering he's only played in six career playoff games, it's hard to predict how big of an impact he will have on the Blues during their playoff run. The former 90-point-getter isn't the talent he once was, but he should still be able to put up a decent amount of points with his latest team.

Blues' Jokinen Dresses; Sits Sunday

News: Olli Jokinen dressed Sunday for the Blues' 2-1 loss to the Red Wings, but saw just 10:30 of ice time registering one shot on net and a blocked shot in the game.
Analysis: The Blues have been tinkering with their fourth line and Olli Jokinen has been in the press box more often than on the ice since being acquired by St. Louis. It doesn't seem like the Finnish veteran has all that much left in the tank - he has 7 points in 57 games this year - but he isn't getting a chance to show otherwise in coach Ken Hitchcock's system. He is not going to help fantasy owners (if there are any left) down the stretch.

Blues' Jokinen Set To Return

News: Based on warmups, it looks like Olli Jokinen (upper body) is in line to suit up Sunday against the Stars, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Olli Jokinen thus appears on track to skate on the Blues' fourth line Sunday, along with Marcel Goc and Ryan Reaves.

Blues' Jokinen Won't Play Over Weekend

News: The Blues have ruled Olli Jokinen (upper body) out for both of their games over the weekend, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: Coach Ken Hitchcock previously considered using Olli Jokinen for either Saturday's game against the Wild or Sunday's tilt with the Wild, but after further review, the Blues determined that it was more prudent to delay the forward's return. On a positive note, it doesn't sound like Jokinen is experiencing any setbacks with his recovery, so waiting until next week to make his return to the lineup will simply ensure that he's not on the ice at less than 100 percent.

Jackets' Jokinen To Remain Out Until Weekend

News: Olli Jokinen (upper body) will remain out of the lineup until the weekend, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: He'll sit for a second straight game Thursday against the Flyers due to the injury, but coach Ken Hitchcock hopes to get the center back in the lineup for one of the Blues' two matches Saturday and Sunday. Olli Jokinen was able to skate with the team Thursday, which would seem to validate the belief that his injury is minor.

Blues' Jokinen Skates Wednesday

News: Olli Jokinen (upper body) took part in Wednesday's optional practice, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The upper-body ailment kept Olli Jokinen out of Tuesday's tilt with the Jets, but it's not believed to be a serious issue. If Jokinen can make it through Thursday's morning skate no worse for the wear, he'll likely be reinserted into the lineup later that night against the Flyers.

Blues' Jokinen Out Tuesday

News: Olli Jokinen (upper body) won't play Tuesday against the Jets, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
Analysis: Coach Ken Hitchcock relayed that Olli Jokinen could have played Tuesday, but the Blues instead elected to allow the veteran forward to get in added practice time in advance of Thursday's game against the Flyers.

Blues' Jokinen Should Be Available Tuesday

News: Olli Jokinen, who left Saturday's game in the third period with an undisclosed injury, didn't practice Monday but is expected to be available Tuesday, Tom Timmerman of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Olli Jokinen made his debut with the Blues Saturday, but had it shortened by injury. The 35-year-old doesn't serve much fantasy value anyway, totaling just seven points this season, but he should be available Tuesday barring a setback.

Blues' Jokinen Makes Debut Saturday

News: Olli Jokinen will make his debut with the Blues on Saturday, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. He will center the fourth line with Ryan Reaves and Steve Ott.
Analysis: Olli Jokinen was acquired at the trade deadline by the Blues and will play a depth role in St. Louis. He has only seven points in 54 games on the season, so don't count on the 35-year-old to be rejuvenated by the change of scenery.

Blues Get Jokinen

News: The Maple Leafs traded Olli Jokinen to the Blues on Monday in exchange for forward Joakim Lindstrom and a conditional 2016 sixth-round draft pick, TSN.ca reports.
Analysis: Olli Jokinen, who has notched just seven points in 54 combined games with the Maple Leafs and Predators this season, bolsters the Blues' depth up front, with something of an uptick in production plausible for the 36-year-old, though a wait-and-see approach from a fantasy perspective remains in order until his role in St. Louis is clarified.

Jokinen Set To Debut With Leafs

News: Olli Jokinen is in line to play Tuesday against the Panthers, Mark Masters of TSN reports.
Analysis: Per the report, Olli Jokinen -- who recorded just six points in 48 games for Nashville before being traded to Toronto -- is slated to work on a line with Leo Komarov and David Clarkson on Tuesday.

Leafs' Jokinen Likely Unavailable For Tuesday

News: Olli Jokinen probably won't be available for Tuesday's game against the Panthers, Mark Masters of TSN reports.
Analysis: Olli Jokinen must wait until Mike Santorelli and Cody Franson are cleared to play for the Predators before he can suit up for the Leafs. Added to the lack of practice time with his new club, and it makes Jokinen a likely scratch Tuesday. With Trevor Smith considered questionable Tuesday and Joffrey Lupul already ruled out, the Leafs may need to recall another forward prior to the contest.

Preds Trade Jokinen To Maple Leafs

News: Olli Jokinen was traded from the Predators to the Maple Leafs on Sunday.
Analysis: Olli Jokinen was just a small piece in the trade that saw two players sent each way, with a 2015 first-round pick also heading to the Maple Leafs. The veteran forward will likely remain with the Maple Leafs through the end of the season, at which point he will become a free agent. Jokinen hasn't lived up to his $2.5 million price tag this season, posting just six points in 48 games.

Preds Scratch Jokinen For Second In A Row

News: Olli Jokinen has been a healthy scratch for both of the Predators' last two games.
Analysis: Signed to a one-year, $2.5 million contract in the summer, Olli Jokinen has been quite a bust even by the modest standards of his salary. After scoring at a half-point-per-game pace with the Jets last season, Jokinen has failed to get going thus far in 2014-15, submitting three goals and three assists in 47 games. Jokinen, who almost certainly won't be re-signed by the Predators after the season, may need an injury at forward in order to get back in the lineup.

Preds' Jokinen Bags Goal In Win

News: Olli Jokinen netted his third goal of the season in Saturday's 7-6 win over the Kings.
Analysis: If not for the Preds' highly impressive start to the season, Olli Jokinen would probably draw more criticism for his horrid performance through 37 games. Despite playing in every game, he's recorded just five points, terrible even by the standards of a depth forward. Still, there seems to be some hope that he might break out of his season-long slumber, as he's three of his points have come in the last two games. And just as encouragingly, he's attempted nine shots during that stretch, which represents over 13 percent of his total for the season.

Jokinen Finally Helps Out In Preds' Win

News: Olli Jokinen collected his first two assists of the season Tuesday in a win over the Blues.
Analysis: Yep, he'd gone 35 games without an assist (and just two goals in that span) before getting the primary assists on goals by Shea Weber and Gabriel Bourque on Tuesday. There are precious few fantasy formats in which it's worth taking a shot on Olli Jokinen at this point in his career.

Preds' Jokinen Gets Goal In Thursday's Win

News: Olli Jokinen recorded his second goal of the season in Thursday's game against the Sharks.
Analysis: On a Predators squad chock-full of overachievers and reliable performers, Olli Jokinen qualifies as one of the bigger disappointments. After submitting a 40-point season for the Jets a season earlier, Jokinen has just two points through 28 contests. Unsurprisingly, he's seen his average ice time drop over two and a half minutes from a season ago.

Preds' Jokinen Ends Season-Opening Slump

News: Olli Jokinen finally picked up his first point of the year Thursday, scoring a third-period goal in a 3-2 loss to the Senators.
Analysis: Olli Jokinen -- a 43-point man last year -- couldn't get the monkey off his back 'til his 19th game of the season, a brutal stretch that likely got him cut in most fantasy leagues where he was owned. Don't count on Jokinen's scoring to rebound suddenly, as he's been seeing sharply reduced ice time and seems unlikely to earn his way back into the top six right now.

Pointless Streak Continues For Preds' Jokinen

News: Olli Jokinen's season-long pointless drought continued Tuesday, as he was one of only three Nashville skaters to be held off the scoresheet during the Preds' 9-2 drubbing of the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: You know your guy is having a rough time when he can't even post a measley assist on a night when his team ties a franchise record for most goals in a game. Olli Jokinen's best days are clearly behind him, but even his biggest detractors would have predicted something close to the 43-point season he put up last year with Winnipeg. Given his current futility streak, however, he won't come anywhere close to that number this season. For fantasy purposes, avoid this guy like the plague.

Olli Jokinen, C, STL Preds' Jokinen Failing To Score

Olli Jokinen

Preds' Jokinen Failing To Score

News: Olli Jokinen has zero points in five games for the Predators so far this season.
Analysis: Olli Jokinen was one of three fairly high-profile free agent signings by the Preds during the summer, joining Derek Roy and Mike Ribeiro in a trio of veteran forwards who were supposed to jump-start the team's offense this season. However, Jokinen has struggled out of the gate, playing primarily on the team's third line. Unless coach Peter Laviolette shuffles his lines and puts Jokinen in more of a scoring role, it's tough to see him making much of a fantasy impact. For now, put him on your bench until he can find a way to right the ship.

Preds' Jokinen Skating on Third Line in Preseason

News: Olli Jokinen saw 14:33 of ice time during Saturday's split-squad 4-1 win over the Panthers. He played mostly on a line with Gabriel Bourque and rookie Kevin Fiala.
Analysis: After signing as a free agent in July, Olli Jokinen was seen as a possible candidate to center the team's second line; however, so far in preseason action, it looks like that role has gone to fellow free-agent signee Derek Roy, who has been skating with Colin Wilson and Craig Smith. As of right now, we expect Jokinen to center the Preds' third line once the regular season begins.

Preds Ink Jokinen To One-Year Deal

News: Olli Jokinen signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract with the Predators on Wednesday, Josh Cooper of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Olli Jokinen could be pegged for a second-line center role with the Preds, after racking up 18 goals and 25 assists over 82 games with the Jets last season. He's also shown some moxie on the defensive end, registering 120 hits and 62 penalty minutes in 2013-14.

Jets' Jokinen Playing Hot Of Late

News: Olli Jokinen managed to post an assist in Wednesday's 5-4 win over Colorado.
Analysis: Olli Jokinen now has five points in his last five games. He now has 40 points on the year and has bounced back nicely from a horrible 48-game schedule last season. He's a fantasy option in deeper leagues if you need a fill in.

Three-Point Night For Jets' Jokinen

News: Olli Jokinen had a goal and two assists in Sunday's 7-2 win over the Stars.
Analysis: Olli Jokinen played a prominent role in the Jets' highest-scoring game of the season, netting his first goal 29 seconds into the second period to give the team a 4-2 lead, and then finding Dustin Byfuglien for the next two scores. The 35-year-old has seen his productivity drop a notch or two the last couple of seasons, but with 39 points in 69 games, he still qualifies as a productive depth forward in deeper leagues.

Jokinen Lone Man On Scoreboard For Jets

News: Olli Jokinen scored the Jets' only goal in Thursday's loss to the Kings.
Analysis: That's points in three straight for Olli Jokinen, who's delivered 15 goals and 35 points this year, making him a useful player in deeper formats -- and likely at very minimal cost to his owners.
