Bruins' Chara Still Sidelined

News: Zdeno Chara (left knee) acknowledged Tuesday that a timetable for his return to action has yet to be established, the Bruins' official site reports. "There is not a timeline right now. I wish I could tell you guys exactly when I'm going to return," Chara noted. "But at this point, it's really such a slow process, that who knows when the day is going to be."
Analysis: After Zdeno Chara suffered a tear in his left PCL on October 23, GM Peter Chiarelli presented an initial four-to-six week estimate, while relaying at the time that there were no plans for the blueliner to undergo surgery. With Chara (who was spotted stickhandling and passing the puck in the hallway on Tuesday) still not ready to return to the ice, and fellow blueliners Kevan Miller and Torey Krug also injured, the Bruins have turned to AHL recalls Joe Morrow, David Warsofsky and Zach Trotman to fill in for the time being.

Bruins' Chara Remains Without Return Timetable

News: A timetable for Zdeno Chara (knee) to return to action has yet to be established, Amalie Benjamin of The Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: Zdeno Chara was able to skate lightly Tuesday, but he will still need two-to-four weeks to recover from his knee injury. The timeline should become clearer over the next week or so.

Bruins Place Chara On IR

News: Zdeno Chara (knee) was placed on injured reserve Friday.
Analysis: The move comes as little surprise after Zdeno Chara was ruled out four-to-six weeks after suffering a PCL tear in his left knee Thursday night. Zach Trotman and Joe Morrow were recalled from AHL Providence in corresponding moves to give the Bruins some replacement options on the blue line.

Bruins' Chara Not Likely To Need Surgery

News: Per GM Peter Chiarelli, surgery is not considered a likely option for Zdeno Chara, who sustained a tear in the posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in Thursday's game against the Islanders, the Bruins' official site reports.
Analysis: While Chiarelli fell short of declaring that surgery has been 100 percent ruled out, at this stage it does not seem a likely outcome for Zdeno Chara, who the report confirms will be out 4-6 weeks. In the absence of Chara, at Friday's practice, the Bruins' top two defensive pairings appeared to be Dennis Seidenberg/Dougie Hamilton and Torey Krug/Adam McQuaid.

Bruins Confirm PCL Tear For Chara

News: The Bruins confirmed Friday that Zdeno Chara suffered a PCL tear in his left knee Thursday against the Islanders, Joe Haggerty of CSNNE.com reports. Chara will miss four-to-six weeks and will not require surgery.
Analysis: Friday's update verifies the initial recovery timetable indicated a day earlier for Zdeno Chara, who left the game against the Islanders after colliding with John Tavares midway through the first period. The absence of Chara is a devastating hit to a team that had been struggling defensively through the first three weeks of the season. The Bruins recalled Zach Trotman and Joe Morrow from AHL Providence on Friday to add some depth to the blue line in the interim.

Bruins' Chara Expected To Miss 4-6 Weeks

News: Zdeno Chara is dealing with a knee ligament injury and is expected to miss at least fourto-six weeks, Aaron Ward of TSN reports.
Analysis: It's yet to be determined whether he'll need to undergo surgery, which could sideline him for even longer. The Bruins have been off to a slow start this season, and losing their captain for an extended period of time just when they seemed to be turning the corner won't help. The team will probably add a defenseman from the AHL before Saturday's game.

Bruins' Chara Leaves Thursday, Won't Return

News: Zdeno Chara left Thursday's game in the first period and won't return.
Analysis: Zdeno Chara's injury is undisclosed at this point, but it's at least serious enough for him to sit for the remainder of the game. The Bruins next play Saturday, so Chara's status should become clearer sometime Friday.

Bruins' Chara Leaves With Injury

News: Zdeno Chara left Thursday's game against the Islanders in the first period, after he laid a hard hit on John Tavares, Joe Haggerty of CSNNE.com reports.
Analysis: It's usually the opponent that comes away sore following a check from the big-bodied Zdeno Chara, but the defenseman seemed to be worse off after this particular collision. He didn't return for the remainder of the first period after suffering the injury, but the Bruins haven't officially ruled him out from returning. Stay tuned for a further update on his condition.

Boston's Chara Gets Goals In Back-To-Back Games

News: Zdeno Chara recorded his second goal of the season in Saturday's win over the Sabres.
Analysis: Zdeno Chara opened the new campaign with five straight games without a point, but he's since bagged a goal in each of the last two games. He turned in his most active performance of the young season Saturday, attempting a team-high seven shots, blocking three more on defense, and finishing with a plus-2 rating over his 29 shifts.

Bruins' Chara Scores, But Finishes Minus-3 In Loss

News: Zdeno Chara scored his first goal of the season Thursday against the Canadiens, but finished minus-3 in the defeat.
Analysis: Though Zdeno Chara has put up a decent amount of shots (19) through six games, the Bruins' collective offensive nosedive has denied the blueliner of opportunities to pick up any assists. Chara got off to a similarly slow start to the 2013-14 season before the Bruins offense heated up, and his fantasy owners can only hope that narrative repeats itself again.

Bruins' Chara Notches Power Play Tally

News: Zdeno Chara opened the scoring in Wednesday's 2-0 preseason win over the Capitals.
Analysis: Zdeno Chara's tally Wednesday came on the power play, when he jammed home a loose puck in front of the net. The big blueliner remains track to see plenty of ice time for the B's, with his power play duties keeping him firmly on the fantasy radar. In 2013-14, 10 of Chara's 17 goals came with the man advantage, with the blueliner notching 40 points in 77 games overall.

Bruins' Chara Ready To Go

News: Injuries to two of Zdeno Chara's fingers that he suffered in last season's playoffs have sufficiently healed, according to the Boston Herald.
Analysis: While the report notes that the nail on his ring finger is still growing back, Zdeno Chara shouldn't be hampered by the issue once training camp opens. The 37-year-old blueliner, who indicated that his offseason workouts focused on improving his quickness, remains on track to see plenty of ice time for the Bruins, including power play duty, a scenario that keeps him on the fantasy radar, on the heels of a 2013-14 season in which he recorded 40 points in 77 games, to go along with 66 PIM and a plus-25 rating.

Bruins' Chara Still Recovering From Finger Woes

News: Zdeno Chara said that the two finger injuries he sustained during the Bruins' second-round playoff series with the Canadiens have healed, but noted that he's still trying to regain full feeling, Amalie Benjamin of the Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: Zdeno Chara didn't require surgery after suffering a small break to his left pinkie finger in Game 3 and a laceration to his ring finger in Game 5, but he'll require a little more time for the pain to subside. The finger ailments have not affected his offseason workout program, putting him on track to open training camp at full health.

Bruins' Chara (Finger) Won't Need Surgery

News: Zdeno Chara will not undergo surgery on a fractured finger on his left hand, ESPN.com reports. "No, no surgery," Chara said. "That's a positive."
Analysis: Zdeno Chara would not disclose when he suffered the injury, but it's believed to have occurred during the Bruins' second-round series against the Canadiens. "I don't like to talk about injuries. It's something that doesn't need to be surgically [fixed] so far and hopefully it stays that way," Chara said. "It's not something I'm going to blame or making excuses. That's the way it is. We all play with different injuries, or banged up and that's part of hockey in the playoffs. For sure, that's not why we lost." The Bruins will continue to monitor Chara's condition throughout the offseason, but it appears the defenseman is content to let the finger heal without an operation.

Boston Wins As Chara Finishes Plus-5

News: Zdeno Chara collected an assist and finished plus-5 in the Bruins' 5-3 win over Montreal in Saturday's Game 2 of the second-round series.
Analysis: This kind of crooked number is rare even in the regular season, and emphatically deserves a hat tip during the playoffs.

Bruins Rest Chara

News: With the Bruins' playoff seeding set, Zdeno Chara did not travel with the team to New Jersey where Boston plays Sunday, the Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: Zdeno Chara thus finishes the regular season with 17 goals and 40 points in 77 games, to go along with a plus-25 rating. Chara will get some well-deserved rest Sunday, with a large workload looming for him in the upcoming NHL playoffs.

Bruins' Chara Racks Up PIM In Win

News: Zdeno Chara picked up an assist and was handed 14 PIM in Saturday's win over the Sabres.
Analysis: After getting a rest Thursday against Winnipeg, Zdeno Chara returned on Saturday, logging 20:53 of ice time. Chara is now on a three-game point streak (one goal, three assists), and is up to 17 goals and 40 points in 77 games on the season. He is expected to sit out Sunday's regular-season finale against New Jersey.

Bruins' Chara Among Candidates For Rest

News: The Bruins will likely rest key players for Sunday's regular-season finale in New Jersey.
Analysis: With the President's Cup in hand, the Bruins officially have nothing to play for besides pride. Zdeno Chara will likely be among the key players rested, as the team is expected to make some call-ups from the AHL.

News: Zdeno Chara is slated to return to the Bruins' lineup Saturday against the Sabres.

Bruins Rest Chara Thursday

News: Zdeno Chara is in line to be rested Thursday versus the Jets, the Bruins' official Twitter account reports.
Analysis: Zdeno Chara will simply be handed the night off Thursday. With that in mind, Boston will be without its best defenseman, as will most fantasy teams featuring Chara.

Bruins' Chara Adds Two Assists

News: Zdeno Chara picked up a pair of assists -- one on the power play -- in Tuesday's shootout loss to Minnesota.
Analysis: It was Zdeno Chara's first multi-point game since March 17, when he also delivered two assists against Minnesota. Curiously, before these last two games, he'd had all of one assist in 11 career contests against the Wild.

Bruins' Chara Notches Two Assists

News: Zdeno Chara had two assists and was a plus-2 against the Wild on Monday.

Boston's Chara Scores Again

News: Zdeno Chara scored the opening goal in Thursday's 2-1 win over Phoenix, marking the second-consecutive game in which he's scored and third in which he registered a point.
Analysis: Zdeno Chara has 16 tallies on the season with just 14 assists. While his overall point totals are down, he's closing in on 20 goals, nine of which have come on the power play.

Bruins' Chara Finds The Net

News: Zdeno Chara potted his 15th goal of the season in Wednesday's win over the Canadiens.
Analysis: Zdeno Chara's scoring numbers remain well below the level we've come to expect from him, but his 29 points in 62 games are still plenty helpful for fantasy owners. It was the first goal in seven games from Chara.

Bruins' Chara Heads To Sochi

News: Zdeno Chara, who is headed to Sochi to be the flag bearer for the Slovakian Olympic team, will be unavailable for Thursday's game against the Blues as well as Saturday's game against the Senators, the Boston Herald reports.
Analysis: With Zdeno Chara out of the mix, David Warsofsky is in line to see action in the Bruins' last two games before the Olympic break. Chara, who has 13 goals and 26 points in 54 games to date, to go along with 44 PIM and a plus-11 rating, is next slated to suit up for Boston when the team visits Buffalo on Feb. 26.
