Panthers' Luongo Pelted With Pucks In Close Loss

News: Roberto Luongo made 48 saves through regulation and allowed just one goal in the shootout in Saturday's 3-2 loss to Nashville.
Analysis: Bobby Lou seems to be at his best when he sees a lot of rubber and we all know that's a guarantee with the Floridian felines. He won't deliver a lot of wins, but his ratios will help you.

Panthers' Luongo Will Start Saturday

News: Roberto Luongo will start Saturday's game against the Predators, Steve Goldstein of Fox Sports Florida reports.
Analysis: Roberto Luongo backstopped the team to a win his last time out, allowing two goals on 30 shots against the Sharks. He currently has a .922 save percentage and a 2.40 GAA for the season.

Panthers' Luongo Stands Tall In Win Over Sharks

News: Roberto Luongo saved 28 of 30 and stopped two of three shootout attempts in Thursday's win over the Sharks.
Analysis: While the veteran goalie's had trouble getting into a rhythm lately and has still lost four of his last six starts (two in overtime), he's still providing owners with strong rate stats. Roberto Luongo's now made 14 starts this year, equaling the number he made with Florida after coming over via trade last season, and his stat line has been amazingly consistent with last year's. His total goals allowed (33 last year, 32 this year), GAA (2.46, 2.40), save percentage (.924, .9222), number of shutouts (one) and record (6-7-1, 6-4-4) are near-perfect clones.

Panthers To Start Luongo On Thursday

News: Roberto Luongo will receive the start in goal Thursday against the Sharks, Steve Goldstein of FOX Sports Florida reports.
Analysis: Roberto Luongo guided the Panthers to a 4-1 win over the Sharks the last time the two teams met on Nov. 11, stopping 21 of 22 shots in the victory. He's since stumbled his last two times out after that, but still owns a respectable 2.45 GAA and .921 save percentage over his 31 outings this season.

Panthers' Luongo Yanked In Loss To Kings

News: Roberto Luongo was pulled after two periods Tuesday after giving up four goals on 25 shots against the Kings.
Analysis: As he's been generally reliable all year for the Panthers, it's surprising to see Roberto Luongo get himself yanked for the first time since Oct. 11. While it's his second four-goal evening in four games and he's only won once in that span, Luongo should bounce back in no time -- at least in terms of rate stats.

Panthers' Luongo Set To Start Tuesday

News: Roberto Luongo will be in the net Tuesday against the Kings, Steve Goldstein of FOX Sports Florida reports.`
Analysis: Roberto Luongo has been a victim of a lack of goal support from his mates all season, so it had to be frustrating for the netminder to watch backup Al Montoya benefit from the Panthers' six-goal outburst in Sunday's spot start. In spite of having to carry the team most nights, Luongo still owns a winning record (5-3-4) to match his shiny ratios (2.24 GAA, .927 save percentage) in his 12 appearances this season.

Panthers' Luongo Losses 4-3 In Shootout

News: Roberto Luongo made 30 saves and posted a .912% save percentage, but lost 4-3 in a shootout to the Islanders Friday.
Analysis: Although Roberto Luongo was credited with the loss in Friday's contest, he did move past John Vanbiesbrouck into fifth place on the NHL's all-time saves list. Luongo has gone 2-1-2 in the month of November and is making an average of 28 saves a game in that span. If your pool rewards saves, Luongo will continue to make plenty playing with Florida this season.

Panthers' Luongo To Start Friday

News: Roberto Luongo will be in the crease for Friday's game against the Islanders, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Roberto Luongo has played well this month, posting a .932 save percentage by giving up just eight goals on 118 shots. The Panthers will need him to remain sharp Friday against an Islanders squad that enters Friday night having won four straight games.

Luongo's 21 Saves Put Panthers Back In Win Column

News: Roberto Luongo stopped 21 of 22 shots in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Sharks, ending the Panthers' three-game losing skid.
Analysis: Roberto Luongo had taken the loss in two of those games, but has nonetheless largely been a strong option in net, having posted three one-goal outings in his last five starts.

Panthers To Start Luongo On Tuesday

News: Roberto Luongo will draw the start in goal Tuesday against the Sharks, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Roberto Luongo is coming off a five-day rest after backup Al Montoya was given the starting nod in the Panthers' most recent game Saturday against the Flames. The Panthers had previously leaned on Luongo to start 10 of the team's first 11 games, but his productivity hasn't been hindered by the large workload. He's sitting on a palatable 2.31 GAA and .925 save percentage for the season.

Florida's Luongo Scuffles Thursday

News: Roberto Luongo was on the losing end of a 4-1 defeat Thursday against the Flyers, surrendering four goals on 30 shot attempts.
Analysis: Once again, an anemic Florida offense failed to show up for Roberto Luongo on a night he wasn't on his game. Thursday's showing can probably be written off as an aberration, as the netminder had allowed two or fewer goals in six of his previous nine starts this season. His magnificence in goal is perhaps the only reason the Panthers are still holding on to a winning record over their 11 games.

Panthers' Luongo On Tap For Thursday Start

News: Roberto Luongo will be between the pipes Thursday against the Flyers, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Roberto Luongo took a tough overtime loss his last time out Tuesday against the Bruins, but his stellar play is the major reason behind the Panthers' surprising 4-2-4 start to the season. Despite being supported by an offensive attack that ranks 29th in the league with 1.50 goals per game, Luongo is still sitting on a winning record thanks to a magnificent .932 save percentage.

Panthers' Luongo Solid Again In OT Loss To Bruins

News: Roberto Luongo made 23 saves and allowed two goals, but was able to earn the team a point in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Bruins on Tuesday.
Analysis: Roberto Luongo has posted remarkable numbers so far this season. Supporting a .932 save percentage and 2.11 GAA, Bobby Lu seems to be loving the sun in Florida instead of the rainy days in Vancouver. He has not lost in regulation over the past six games and owns a 4-2-3 record.

Panthers' Luongo In Line To Start Tuesday

News: Roberto Luongo is set to start Tuesday's game against the Bruins, Panthers play-by-play announcer Steve Goldstein reports.
Analysis: Roberto Luongo worked in the starter's net during Tuesday's morning skate, which puts him on track to start Tuesday night. Luongo suffered a minor hand injury during the morning skate, but he was able to continue skating and said he felt fine afterward, so consider him good to go for Tuesday night.

Panthers' Luongo: Misses Shutout By Eight Seconds

News: Roberto Luongo made 36 saves in Saturday's 2-1 win over Philadelphia.
Analysis: He carried a shutout to the 19:52 mark of the third period before the Flyers finally found twine. He's delivering solid numbers so far this season and is 3-0-1 in his last four starts. There's value in those numbers.

Panthers Going With Luongo On Saturday

News: Roberto Luongo will be in the net Saturday against the Flyers, Jameson Olive of FOX Sports Florida reports.
Analysis: Roberto Luongo was able to hold off the Coyotes for a narrow 2-1 victory on Thursday, bringing his record above .500 for the season. He's been as good as the Panthers could have hoped after acquiring him at the trade deadline last season, carrying a 2.33 goals-against average and .926 save percentage into Saturday's contest.

Luongo, Panthers Get Revenge On Coyotes

News: Roberto Luongo allowed just one goal on 33 shots in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Coyotes.
Analysis: The Coyotes handed Roberto Luongo a tough OT loss in his last start, which came five days prior in Arizona, so this was nice revenge for him and the Panthers alike. Luongo has posted save marks over .900 in each of his last four starts, and he's given up just six goals in that span. We'd like to see the Panthers support him with some more offense, but it seems we can count on Luongo for fantasy-worthy ratios regardless.

Panthers' Luongo Posts 32 Saves In Win Thursday

News: Roberto Luongo only allowed one goal on 33 shots for a 2-1 win against the Coyotes on Thursday night.
Analysis: Roberto Luongo has been absolutely outstanding to start the season. The Panthers have been focusing a lot on defense under new coach Gerard Gallant, which is great news for Luongo and the goaltending. The team is still struggling to score, but if Luongo keeps playing the way he is, just two goals a game could get them some wins. Ride Luongo while he's hot.

Panthers To Start Luongo On Thursday

News: Roberto Luongo will be between the pipes Thursday versus the Coyotes, Jameson Olive of FOX Sports Florida reports.
Analysis: With four full days since the Panthers' last game, a well-rested Roberto Luongo will be searching for redemption in a rematch with the Coyotes, who handed him an overtime loss last Saturday. Luongo is 2-2-2 over six outings this season, posting a 2.57 GAA and .917 save percentage.

Panthers' Luongo Allows Two Goals In OT Loss

News: Roberto Luongo allowed two goals on 41 shots in the overtime loss to the Coyotes on Saturday.
Analysis: Roberto Luongo played one of his best games of the season on Saturday, making 39 saves on 41 shots and posting a .951 save percentage. The Panthers were short-handed eight times in the game, which is where both goals against came from, the last one in overtime. Florida is scoring 29th in the league with a 1.43 goals for a game, only beating Buffalo in that category. So unfortunately if the trend continues, Luongo might only be worth keeping in leagues that award goalies for saves and overtime losses.

Panthers Will Start Luongo On Saturday

News: Roberto Luongo will be in goal Saturday against the Coyotes, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Analysis: The goalie is looking to earn his third straight victory, after shutting out the Sabres and defeating the Avalanche in overtime in his previous two turns. Roberto Luongo sports only middling ratios (2.72 GAA, .906 save percentage) on the season, but it's safe to say that he represents a steep upgrade in goal over Tim Thomas, the Panthers' primary starter in 2013-14.

Panthers' Luongo Holds On For OT Win

News: Roberto Luongo allowed three goals on 33 shots in Tuesday's overtime victory over the Avalanche.
Analysis: It's not the most impressive outing for Roberto Luongo, who was staked to a 2-0 lead that he allowed to turn to a 3-2 deficit in a span of less than four minutes in the second period. But he held on after that and delivered his fourth outing in five with a save mark over .900.

Panthers' Luongo In Line To Start Tuesday

News: Roberto Luongo is expected to start Tuesday's game against the Avalanche, Panthers play-by-play announcer Steve Goldstein reports.
Analysis: Roberto Luongo struggled early this season, but he shut out the Sabres in his last start Friday and gave up just one goal in the game before that, so he is seemingly back on track. He will take on an Avalanche team that has scored just nine goals through its first six games.

Panthers' Luongo Pitches 26-Save Shutout

News: Roberto Luongo stopped all 26 shots he faced in Friday's shutout win over Buffalo.
Analysis: A great outing for the former Canuck, who helped the Panthers pick up their first win of the season. Roberto Luongo's shutout was the 67th of his career and third consecutive against the Sabres. The 35-year-old veteran, who is expected to give way to backup Al Montoya for Saturday's game vs. Washington, is now 1-2-1 on the season with a .905 save percentage and 2.67 GAA.

Panthers Confirm Luongo As Friday Starter

News: Roberto Luongo will start Friday's game against the Sabres, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Roberto Luongo has gone winless in his three starts on the season, but a match against the hapless Sabres represents as good of any opportunity as any for the goalie to notch his first win. It doesn't look like Luongo will be called upon to start both ends of the team's back-to-back this weekend, as No. 2 netminder Al Montoya is expected to make the turn Saturday against Washington.
