Dumba's Two Assists Can't Help Wild Avoid Sweep

News: Matt Dumba picked up his first multi-point game of the playoffs Thursday in Game 4 against Chicago, dishing out two assists, but it wasn't enough in a season-ending 4-3 loss.
Analysis: It's a case of too little, too late for Matt Dumba, who had his best game of the playoffs, including firing five shots -- that's one more than he had in the prior six games combined. He finishes the playoffs with just four points (two goals, two assists) in 10 games, but the 20-year-old Dumba has a world of upside, and his playoff experience will serve him well going forward.

Wild's Dumba Scores In Playoff Debut

News: Matt Dumba potted a power-play goal in his NHL playoff debut Thursday against the Blues.
Analysis: Matt Dumba had an inconsistent offensive season, and he only skated 11:32 in Thursday's game, with Jonas Brodin and Ryan Suter sucking up a lot of the ice time. He's got great long-term upside, but expectations should be low in these playoffs.

Wild's Dumba Assists Twice In Loss

News: Matt Dumba had the primary assist on both Minnesota goals in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: A very active game for Matt Dumba, who pinched into the offensive zone frequently and aggressively. He's been a more frequent scoreboard presence of late, with five points in his last eight games. All in all, Dumba looks like he's got all the goods for a big breakout next year.

Wild's Dumba Scores PP Goal In Win

News: Matt Dumba scored a power-play goal and fired four shots on goal in Friday's win over the Flames.
Analysis: Matt Dumba is now up to eight goals and a plus-13 rating in 51 games on the season. Considering he's playing on the top power-play unit with Ryan Suter, the 20-year-old is worth a look in some deeper leagues. While he's only got 13 points, the youngster has a lethal shot and is emerging as a solid goal-scorer on the back-end for Minnesota.

Wild's Dumba Pots OT Winner

News: Matt Dumba scored the game-winning goal in overtime to deliver a 3-2 victory Tuesday against the Predators. He also blocked five shots and gathered two penalty minutes.
Analysis: Although he'd just been promoted to the top power-play unit, the winner came at even strength -- well, four-on-four. Matt Dumba still owns only 11 points on the season, but things are starting to look awfully promising for the former first-round pick (No. 7 in 2012).

Wild's Dumba Increases Power Play Role

News: Matt Dumba moved to the right point of the first power-play unit in Monday's practice, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: The Wild continue to shift things around in an attempt to correct their struggles on the man advantage (just 3-for-35 in the past 15 games). Matt Dumba's role on the Wild continues to grow, and his scoring should increase now that his powerful shot's being deployed on the top power-play unit.

Dumba Carries Wild Offense In Win

News: Matt Dumba scored both of Minnesota's regulation goals and notched two penalty minutes Tuesday in a shootout win over the Senators.
Analysis: He's been finding the scoresheet more often lately, having tallied four times in the last seven games, though he has no assists in that span. Still just 20 years old, Matt Dumba has all kinds of long-term upside, but this is about as good as his production's going to get this year.

WIld's Dumba Scores Fourth Goal

News: Matt Dumba scored a power play goal, his fourth of the season, in Sunday's win over Dallas.
Analysis: Matt Dumba has two goals and is plus-two in his last three games. It looks like the top prospect is here to stay on the Wild's blue line.

Wild's Dumba Sparks Win

News: Matt Dumba played an integral role in Wednesday's overtime win over the Flames, tallying his third goal of the season and attempting three shots over a career-high 18:20 of ice time.
Analysis: The 20-year-old was outstanding on both ends of the ice for the Wild. In addition to his offensive exploits, Matt Dumba got in between what likely would have been a easy game-winning goal by the Flames' Jiri Hudler in overtime, with the Wild capitalizing on the defensive stop just minutes later. Dumba's minutes had already been on the rise heading into Wednesday's game, and his responsibilities will only surely increase after he submitted what coach Mike Yeo called the blueliner's best performance as a pro.

Wild's Dumba Getting More Ice Time

News: Matt Dumba had one shot on goal, was plus-1 and had 15:51 of ice time in Monday's loss at Vancouver.
Analysis: Matt Dumba has had 11 or more minutes of ice time in five of nine games since being recalled from the AHL as his role on the blue line continues to grow. He only has one point over that span, but he'll likely increase his production if he can avoid lapses on defense.

Wild Recall Dumba From Minors

News: Matt Dumba was recalled from AHL Iowa on Thursday, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Matt Dumba joined the Wild for Thursday's morning practice in Calgary, where the blueliner grew up. Coach Mike Yeo wouldn't say whether or not Dumba would enter the lineup in front of his hometown crowd, but it seems likely that he'd replace Christian Folin if that materializes.

Wild's Dumba To Stay In AHL

News: Mathew Dumba isn't likely to be recalled from AHL Iowa in the near future, the Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: "[Mathew Dumba's] ice time is so valuable down there," head coach Mike Yeo said. "The game is on his stick every game and [Iowa head coach John Torchetti] is doing a great job with him, so we'll keep letting him develop, and if we need him and we feel he can help us win, then we'll make that decision. But certainly we're very focused on his development too." When Dumba was sent to the AHL before the All-Star break, it was thought that he'd just get some additional playing time during the break. However, it now looks like Dumba will need an injury on the Wild's blue line to return to the NHL.

Wild's Dumba Sent to AHL Iowa

News: Mathew Dumba was sent to AHL Iowa after Tuesday's loss to Detroit, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: This may be less of a demotion and more of a way to keep him playing during the All-Star break. Mathew Dumba wasn't active for Tuesday's game, but could get more ice time in the NHL in the second half of the season. He had an assist and was plus-3 in three games in January.

Strong Return For Wild's Dumba

News: Mathew Dumba celebrated his return to the NHL with a goal and a plus-3 rating in Thursday's 7-0 romp over the Sabres.
Analysis: The shot was a terrifically nice one, beating the glove of Buffalo goalie Jhonas Enroth. But if we're honest with ourselves, an NHL goaltender is essentially expected to stop every shot from so far away -- Mathew Dumba fired from near the blue line. Hey, they all count. Dumba has cooled off following his hot start at AHL Iowa, but still owns a total of 12 points in 17 games there. The 2012 No. 7 overall pick has a ton of upside, but at just 20 years old, he's still a work in progress.

Dumba Recalled By Wild

News: The Wild have recalled Mathew Dumba from AHL Iowa, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Mathew Dumba, who has notched a goal and three assists in 20 games with the big club to date, returns to bolster the team's blue line, with Justin Falk and Marco Scandella having been placed on IR by the Wild.

Wild's Dumba Playing Well At AHL

News: Mathew Dumba was selected to take part in the AHL All-Star Game for AHL Iowa, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Mathew Dumba has 11 points and is plus-3 in 14 games for Iowa. He should be back up to the NHL at some point this season.

Wild's Dumba On Hot Streak In AHL

News: Mathew Dumba has four points (two goals, two assists) in four games since joining AHL Iowa. The Wild called up Justin Falk this week when needing a defenseman because they want Dumba to get more time in Iowa, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Mathew Dumba was sent to the AHL after some lapses on defense, but he could force his way back to the NHL roster if he stays hot in Iowa.

Wild Assign Dumba To AHL Iowa

News: The Wild assigned Mathew Dumba to AHL Iowa on Saturday, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Mathew Dumba, after playing just four minutes in Friday's game, will head to Iowa to see more ice time. He was replaced on the roster by fellow defenseman Justin Falk.

Wild's Dumba Headed To Bench

News: Mathew Dumba will likely be inactive Tuesday against the Devils, the Minneapolis Star Tribune's Michael Russo reports.
Analysis: Mathew Dumba has gone minus-4 in his last three games and has made some gaffes on defense, so he'll head to the bench, and it wouldn't be a surprise if he's sent to the AHL in the near future.

Wild's Dumba Notches First Goal

News: Mathew Dumba recorded his first goal of the season in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Stars.
Analysis: Mathew Dumba's second-period tally went down as the game-winner, after the goal gave the Wild a 2-0 edge. The 20-year-old blueliner probably won't produce any eye-popping numbers as a rookie, but the Wild view him as an integral player in their long-term plans.

Wild's Dumba Registers Assist

News: Mathew Dumba had an assist and two shots on goal in 25 minutes of ice time in Thursday's exhibition loss to Pittsburgh.
Analysis: Mathew Dumba had a strong preseason game as he's trying to win a final spot on the blue line. Dumba is eligible to play in the AHL for the first time this season, so the Wild are thought to begin his season at AHL Iowa. However, a strong exhibition season could open a spot for him with Minnesota.

Wild's Dumba Thriving In WHL

News: Mathew Dumba has two goals, eight points and is plus-17 in eight games for Portland in the Western Hockey League.
Analysis: Mathew Dumba was sent to the WHL after scoring one goal with one assist in 13 games in the NHL. He couldn't be sent to the AHL since he's 19 years old. The Wild's 2012 first-round draft pick should be in good position to win a spot on the Wild roster next season with a strong season in the WHL.

Wild Loan Dumba To Juniors For Rest Of Season

News: Mathew Dumba was loaned to WHL Portland on Tuesday, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: The Wild plan to keep him at the junior level for the rest of the season, as he'll be able to play regularly and further develop his game. The 19-year-old flashed some talent with two points in 13 games and will have his eye on winning a full-time role with the parent club in 2014.

Wild Assign Dumba To Team Canada

News: The Wild loaned Mathew Dumba to the Canadian Junior National Team for the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.
Analysis: The blueliner will join Team Canada in Sweden until January 5, at which point he will be eligible to return to the Wild. Mathew Dumba has one goal and one assist in 13 games this season.
