Preds' Forsberg Notches Two Helpers

News: Filip Forsberg picked up a power-play assist and an even-strength helper in Thursday's 5-1 rout of the Coyotes.
Analysis: The man-advantage point is nice to see, as it's his first since Nov. 18, but after a little cold spell, Filip Forsberg's starting to light on fire again, with three two-point efforts in his last four games.

Preds' Forsberg Scores One For Highlight Reels

News: Filip Forsberg scored a gorgeous breakaway goal -- the only one of Nashville's three to come against opposing goalie Calvin Pickard -- early in the first period of Tuesday's 3-0 win over Colorado. He also added an empty-net assist.
Analysis: Just another good outing for Filip Forsberg, who's found his scoring a little spottier lately -- he's gone without a point in six of the last nine games -- but is still on a point-per-game pace and continues to put up quality plus-minus all the time. He's now plus-23 on the year, three ticks ahead of Calgary's T.J. Brodie.

Two-Point Evening For Preds' Forsberg

News: Filip Forsberg tallied a goal and assist in Thursday's win over the Blues.
Analysis: The goal was Filip Forsberg's first in over a week, which represents a drought these days for the rising star. With 11 goals and 25 points in 25 games this season, Forsberg is running away with the Calder Trophy at the moment.

Preds' Forsberg Bags Overtime Winner

News: Filip Forsberg scored the game-winning goal in overtime to down the Oilers on Thursday.
Analysis: It's the third winner of the season for Filip Forsberg, who has matured into a veritable star after mostly struggling his 13-game taste of the NHL last season. The young winger has an incredible 23 points and plus-19 rating over 22 games, providing a needed lift to a Nashville offense that was woefully short on talent last season.

Preds' Forsberg Nets Winner In Shootout

News: Filip Forsberg scored the lone goal in a shootout in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Panthers.
Analysis: He had a whopping nine shots on net through overtime. He won't get credit for the goal in most formats, but it just shows how dominant his season has been so far. This guy is gold.

Preds' Forsberg Back In Goal Column Again

News: One game after snapping his seven-game point streak, Filip Forsberg bounced back with a goal and a power-play assist in Tuesday's 9-2 annihilation of the Leafs.
Analysis: He'd been shut down totally by Winnipeg on Saturday, failing to even put a shot on goal, but came right back with yet another multi-point performance. Dating back to Oct. 31, he has a simply silly eight goals and 15 points in his last nine games, and his plus-20 rating continues to lead the NHL.

Preds' Forsberg Extends Streak With Three Points

News: Filip Forsberg scored a goal for the sixth consecutive game, added two assists (one on the power play) and went plus-2 in Thursday's loss to the Blues.
Analysis: The electric young Filip Forsberg actually managed to outshine his similarly hot counterpart on the Blues, Vladimir Tarasenko, despite Tarasenko's Gordie Howe hat trick. Forsberg's just been that good -- over the last seven games, he's got seven goals, 13 points and a plus-9 rating. The streak's helped him pulled away with the NHL's plus-minus lead, as his plus-19 is five ticks better than anyone else's.

Goals In Five Straight For Preds' Forsberg

News: Filip Forsberg scored a goal for the fifth straight game Tuesday, adding an assist and a plus-2 rating in a 3-2 win over Edmonton.
Analysis: In finding the twine Tuesday, Filip Forsberg became the first rookie to tally goals in five consecutive contests since the Flyers' Sean Couturier achieved the feat during the 2011-12 season. Concurrent with the goal streak, he's got a six-game point streak running in which he's tallied 10 points (six goals and four assists). And with a plus-17 rating now, he's three notches up on the nearest competition in the NHL -- the Kings' Tyler Toffoli and the Lightning's Anton Stralman are tied for second with twin plus-14s.

Beat Goes On For Preds' Forsberg

News: Filip Forsberg scored for the fourth straight game and added an assist in Saturday's win over the Blues.
Analysis: This is getting ridiculous; this kid is just too good. Filip Forsberg is now riding a five-game point streak, collecting five goals and eight points in that span. He is producing at a point-per-game pace this season and is leading the NHL with a plus-15 rating. The 20-year-old is showing no signs of slowing down and will continue to produce on the Predators' top line alongside James Neal.

Preds' Forsberg Scores Again, Takes Rare Minus

News: Filip Forsberg scored a power-play goal among four shots and went minus-1 for the first time all season Thursday in a win over Dallas.
Analysis: The 20-year-old's fantasy owners will somehow find a way to forgive him for the minus rating, considering he's scored four goals in the last three games and has eight points in his last six contests.

Analysis: Filip Forsberg now has 11 points (three goals) in 11 games this season, to go with an NHL-leading plus-13 rating. Skating on the top line with James Neal and Mike Ribeiro, the 20-year-old Forsberg has been phenomenal, maintaining a point-per-game pace. The youngster is well on his way to a massive breakout season. Take full advantage.

Preds Promote Forsberg To Top Line

News: Filip Forsberg was shuffled to the top line during Tuesday's practice, according to the Predators' official site.
Analysis: After spending the first three games of the season on the second line with Derek Roy and Craig Smith, it looks like Filip Forsberg will now be reunited with Mike Ribeiro and James Neal on the top line, just as as it was for most of the preseason. After three games, Forsberg is tied for the team lead in points with four, and is poised for a breakout season after notching just five points in 13 games as a rookie last year.

Preds' Forsberg Heating Up

News: Filip Forsberg netted the game's first goal in Tuesday's shootout loss to the Flames.
Analysis: After looking a bit out of his element during his 13-game run with the Predators last season, Filip Forsberg has looked fully prepared for his assignment to the NHL club this time around. He's registered at least one point in every game this season, solidifying his spot among the team's top-six forwards in the process. He looks like he'll be a fixture there both now and for several years to come.

Preds' Forsberg Assists Twice In Opener

News: Filip Forsberg notched a pair of assists and went plus-2 in Thursday's season-opening win over the Senators.
Analysis: The 20-year-old earned plenty of attention in the preseason due to his much-improved play, and it appears he's poised for a potential breakout with a top-six role this year. It feels like we've been hearing Filip Forsberg's name for a long time, but he was the No. 11 overall pick just two years ago.

Preds Move Rookie Forsberg To Second Line

News: Filip Forsberg skated 14:08 in Saturday's 3-2 preseason loss to the Blue Jackets. He skated mainly on the Preds' second line with Derek Roy and Craig Smith and had an impressive six shots on goal.
Analysis: Previously, Filip Forsberg had been skating on the top line alongside James Neal and Mike Ribeiro. However, in the last week or so, it looks like that position has since been filled by Gabriel Bourque, with Forsberg being shifted to the second line. We still think Forsberg will be an impact player for the Preds this season, making him worth a late-round sleeper selection in most fantasy drafts.

Preds' Forsberg Getting Look On Top Line

News: Filip Forsberg has played next to Mike Ribeiro and James Neal on the Preds' top line in his last two preseason games, Eric Stromgren of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Filip Forsberg earned his way to Nashville on opening night last season with a strong performance in training camp, and it appears he's well on his way to doing that again. The 20-year-old wasn't ready for prime time last season, but he also didn't have the benefit of playing next to skaters with the scoring credentials of Ribeiro and Neal. While Forsberg's role could change before the start of the regular season, at the very least, it shouldn't be difficult to improve upon the five points and minus-8 rating he delivered in 13 games in 2013-14. He's shaping up to be an intriguing sleeper selection late in drafts.

Preds' Forsberg Turning Heads At Rookie Tournament

News: Filip Forsberg scored the game-winning goal and added an assist along with three penalties during a pre-season rookie tournament game Saturday, Joshua Cooper of the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: While spending that much time in the sin bin would not sit well with too many NHL coaches, potting the game winner would certainly more than make up for it in most cases. Penalties aside, this was an impressive game for Filip Forsberg, who is attempting to land a permanent spot on the Preds' roster after playing just 13 games for the big club last season. As for the penalties, Forsberg typically doesn't take too many – he had just 18 PIM in 60 games last season (NHL and AHL combined) – so this game looks more like an aberration than a sign of things to come. Overall, Forsberg has the skills to be a top-six player for the Preds, but the team bulked up on offense during the offseason, so the question is whether they will have room for him.

Preds Reassign Forsberg

News: Filip Forsberg was reassigned to AHL Milwaukee on Tuesday.
Analysis: With Patric Hornqvist (personal) set to rejoin the lineup Tuesday against the Avalanche, Filip Forsberg returns to the minors after a one-game stay in Nashville. He saw 7:59 of ice time and logged two penalty minutes in Sunday's win over Chicago.

Rookie Forsberg Back In Preds' Lineup

News: After spending the last four months at AHL Milwaukee, Filip Forsberg returned to the Preds' lineup Sunday against Chicago and saw just 7:59 worth of ice time.
Analysis: Coach Barry Trotz said he will exercise patience with Filip Forsberg. "I think he has made a little bit of progress in Milwaukee. We'll see where he is. I went up to Milwaukee to watch him play, and I didn't think he had a particularly good game. There's some areas of his game he can clean up," Trotz said. "He's had some really good stretches for Milwaukee and some dry stretches in Milwaukee. It's just a consistency thing. People forget he's 19 years old and it takes time." Bottom line, despite all his offensive talent, don't expect Forsberg to be thrust into a top-six role for the Preds anytime soon. He should not be relied upon outside of ultra-deep leagues.

Preds Recall Forsberg From AHL Milwaukee

News: Filip Forsberg was recalled from AHL Milwaukee on Sunday.
Analysis: Filip Forsberg has been back and forth a few times this year and has one goal and four assists through 12 games for the Predators this year. With Nick Spaling and Patrick Eaves banged up, the team could use some depth up front.

Preds Send Forsberg Back To AHL

News: Filip Forsberg was sent down to AHL Milwaukee on Friday.
Analysis: The organization initially brought Filip Forsberg back to Nashville after he earned MVP honors at the IIHF World Junior Championships, but the team's brass evidently feels he could benefit from further seasoning in the minors. It might not be until 2014-15 that Forsberg sticks with the Predators for good.

Forsberg Returning To Preds Following IIHF Honors

News: Filip Forsberg is set to return to the Predators after earning the MVP award at the IIHF World Junior Championships, Joshua Cooper of the Tennessean reports. Forsberg finished the tournament with four goals, 12 points and a plus-3 rating for Team Sweden.
Analysis: On Wednesday, coach Barry Trotz said he had not yet decided where Filip Forsberg would fit into the lineup, but hinted at wanting to see him "continue to develop". As such, don't be surprised if Forsberg sees fourth-line minutes upon his return, at least until he proves to Trotz that he can handle a larger role.

Preds To Loan Forsberg To Swedish Junior Team

News: Filip Forsberg will be loaned to Sweden for the upcoming World Junior Classic, Aaron Vickers of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Filip Forsberg recently got over an upper-body injury and had reported to AHL Milwaukee. Since he wasn't expected to be a contributor with the parent club until later this season, he'll continue his development by playing against some of the top young hockey players in the world in the tournament.
