Preds Reassign Forsberg

News: Filip Forsberg was reassigned to AHL Milwaukee on Tuesday.
Analysis: With Patric Hornqvist (personal) set to rejoin the lineup Tuesday against the Avalanche, Filip Forsberg returns to the minors after a one-game stay in Nashville. He saw 7:59 of ice time and logged two penalty minutes in Sunday's win over Chicago.

Rookie Forsberg Back In Preds' Lineup

News: After spending the last four months at AHL Milwaukee, Filip Forsberg returned to the Preds' lineup Sunday against Chicago and saw just 7:59 worth of ice time.
Analysis: Coach Barry Trotz said he will exercise patience with Filip Forsberg. "I think he has made a little bit of progress in Milwaukee. We'll see where he is. I went up to Milwaukee to watch him play, and I didn't think he had a particularly good game. There's some areas of his game he can clean up," Trotz said. "He's had some really good stretches for Milwaukee and some dry stretches in Milwaukee. It's just a consistency thing. People forget he's 19 years old and it takes time." Bottom line, despite all his offensive talent, don't expect Forsberg to be thrust into a top-six role for the Preds anytime soon. He should not be relied upon outside of ultra-deep leagues.

Preds Recall Forsberg From AHL Milwaukee

News: Filip Forsberg was recalled from AHL Milwaukee on Sunday.
Analysis: Filip Forsberg has been back and forth a few times this year and has one goal and four assists through 12 games for the Predators this year. With Nick Spaling and Patrick Eaves banged up, the team could use some depth up front.

Preds Send Forsberg Back To AHL

News: Filip Forsberg was sent down to AHL Milwaukee on Friday.
Analysis: The organization initially brought Filip Forsberg back to Nashville after he earned MVP honors at the IIHF World Junior Championships, but the team's brass evidently feels he could benefit from further seasoning in the minors. It might not be until 2014-15 that Forsberg sticks with the Predators for good.

Forsberg Returning To Preds Following IIHF Honors

News: Filip Forsberg is set to return to the Predators after earning the MVP award at the IIHF World Junior Championships, Joshua Cooper of the Tennessean reports. Forsberg finished the tournament with four goals, 12 points and a plus-3 rating for Team Sweden.
Analysis: On Wednesday, coach Barry Trotz said he had not yet decided where Filip Forsberg would fit into the lineup, but hinted at wanting to see him "continue to develop". As such, don't be surprised if Forsberg sees fourth-line minutes upon his return, at least until he proves to Trotz that he can handle a larger role.

Preds To Loan Forsberg To Swedish Junior Team

News: Filip Forsberg will be loaned to Sweden for the upcoming World Junior Classic, Aaron Vickers of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Filip Forsberg recently got over an upper-body injury and had reported to AHL Milwaukee. Since he wasn't expected to be a contributor with the parent club until later this season, he'll continue his development by playing against some of the top young hockey players in the world in the tournament.

Preds' Forsberg Assigned To AHL

News: Filip Forsberg (upper body) was sent to AHL Milwaukee on Wednesday, Joshua Cooper of the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Filip Forsberg resumed skating with the team earlier this week, and will now head to Milwaukee to finish rounding into game shape. He's expected to remain with Milwaukee once activated, however, so he can see regular playing time.

Preds' Forsberg Skates For Second Straight Day

News: Filip Forsberg (upper body) skated for the second straight day Tuesday, Josh Cooper of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Coach Barry Trotz said that Filip Forsberg would remain with the team for about a week longer to build up his conditioning before heading to AHL Milwaukee. The expectation is that he'll remain with Milwaukee when activated so he can benefit from more regular ice time.

Preds' Forsberg Likely Headed To AHL When Healthy

News: Filip Forsberg (upper body) will likely play in the AHL once he's healthy, The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: The 19-year-old Filip Forsberg has one goal and five assists in 17 career NHL games. He's still a valuable commodity in dynasty leagues, but may be headed for irrelevance in redraft formats. Head coach Barry Trotz believes that his young forward has yet to find the consistency that's needed to play at the highest level of hockey. It's possible that Trotz could change his mind by the time Forsberg is healthy, as the youngster has yet to resume practicing.

Preds Move Forsberg To IR

News: Filip Forsberg (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, ThePredatorial.com reports.
Analysis: With the team running short on healthy defensemen, the Predators couldn't wait any longer for Filip Forsberg to recover from his injury before calling up reinforcements from the minors. The promising winger has yet to resume skating since sustaining the upper-body injury Nov. 16.

News: Filip Forsberg (upper body) will not play Wednesday against the Blue Jackets, Nick Cole of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Filip Forsberg with miss his sixth straight game with the injury and appears poised to miss another thereafter with the Predators back at home Thursday vs. the Oilers. He wasn't able to practice Monday and it's unclear when he might be back skating again.

Preds' Forsberg To Sit Thursday

News: Filip Forsberg (upper body) will not play Thursday vs. the Maple Leafs, Josh Cooper of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Filip Forsberg will miss his third straight game with the injury and the team hasn't passed along much word regarding his recovery. Keep him parked on your fantasy bench until more news regarding his potential return becomes available.

Preds' Forsberg: Upper-Body Injury

News: Filip Forsberg missed Saturday's game with an upper-body injury, according to the Associated Press.
Analysis: He was just recalled, so the injury must have happened at practice ... or heaven forbid, when he was reaching for pancakes. Wait -- that's Dustin Penner. The team has officially listed him as day-to-day.

Preds Recall Forsberg

News: Filip Forsberg was recalled from AHL Milwaukee on Thursday, Joshua Cooper of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Coach Barry Trotz said that Filip Forsberg would immediately reenter the Preds' lineup for Friday's game against the Penguins, most likely as a member of the third or fourth line. The 2012 first-round pick had five points and a minus-8 rating over 11 games prior to his demotion to the minors last week.

Preds Reassign Forsberg

News: The Predators reassigned Filip Forsberg to AHL Milwaukee on Thursday, Joshua Cooper of the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: The 19-year-old center was off to a decent start with the Preds, recording a goal and four assists in 11 games, but it looks like the team wants to send him to Milwaukee to get some extra ice time. He'll almost certainly be recalled at some point down the line, and is probably no more than a year away from being a permanent fixture in the Nashville lineup.

Ice Time Dwindling For Preds' Forsberg

News: After sitting out as a healthy scratch the previous game, Filip Forsberg played a season-low 5:07 during Saturday's 4-3 win over the Kings.
Analysis: Filip Forsberg has the potential to be one of the Preds' better offensive players, but it seems he is having trouble earning his ice time right now. If he's not fitting in at the NHL level, it's quite possible the team could decide to send him back to the minors at some point where he would see more ice time. For now, he does not have much fantasy value outside of keeper formats.

Preds' Forsberg To Sit Thursday

News: Filip Forsberg will not play Thursday against the Coyotes, Joshua Cooper of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Filip Forsberg will be a healthy scratch, a development not particularly surprising with his ice time shrinking in recent contests. The 19-year-old has four points and a minus-7 rating through nine games and could be headed to the minors if he fails to make more of an impact in future contests.

Preds' Forsberg Assists In Win Over Jets

News: Filip Forsberg registered an assist during Thursday's 3-2 OT win over Winnipeg, after sitting as a healthy scratch the previous game. He now has four points (1G, 3A) in six games.
Analysis: The downside is, Filip Forsberg saw only 11:07 worth of ice time playing on a checking line with David Legwand and Eric Nystrom, and saw very little by way of power play minutes (0:44). Bottom line, the kid's got a ton of potential, but right now he is still paying his dues. For now, he remains fantasy-worthy in deeper formats only.

Preds' Forsberg To Debut Tuesday

News: Filip Forsberg (lower body) will make his season debut Tuesday against the Wild, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Coach Barry Trotz will scratch one injured winger for another, with the now-healthy Filip Forsberg subbing in on the first line for Nick Spaling, who is dealing with an upper-body injury. Forsberg figures to move back to third or fourth-line duty once Spaling is deemed healthy enough to return.

Wild's Forsberg Scores In Season Debut

News: Filip Forsberg tallied a power-play goal in his season debut Tuesday, opening the scoring for the Preds in a 3-2 win over Minnesota.
Analysis: Filip Forsberg missed the first couple games of the year with a lower-body issue, but he certainly didn't look hurt in this one. The 19-year-old is a promising young scorer who should be owned in all keeper leagues and closely monitored in redraft formats.

Preds' Forsberg Practices Sunday

News: Filip Forsberg (lower body) practiced with the team Sunday, Joshua Cooper of the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: The rookie winger sat out the team's first two games with the lower body injury, but has been skating since Friday. It looks like he'll make his season debut Tuesday against the Wild, and should play most of the game on the fourth line. The 19-year-old was the 11th overall pick in the 2012 NHL Draft, so he could move up in the lineup quickly if he proves himself.

Preds' Forsberg Skates Friday

News: Filip Forsberg (lower body) skated Friday, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Filip Forsberg was sidelined for the Preds' first two games but seems likely to return during the upcoming week. Once healthy, the 2012 first-rounder is expected to serve on the team's third or fourth line as a rookie and should be worth tracking in keeper or dynasty formats.

Preds' Forsberg Out Two Games

News: Filip Forsberg (lower body) will miss at least the first two games, Joshua Cooper of the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Filip Forsberg won't play Thursday against the Blues or Friday against the Avalanche, but he hasn't been ruled out yet for Tuesday's home opener against the Wild. His practice status is worth keeping an eye on after the back-to-back games to start the weekend.

Preds' Forsberg Expected Back For Season Opener

News: Filip Forsberg (lower body) is expected to miss the rest of the preseason but should be ready for the Predators' Oct. 3 season opener against the Blues, the Nashville Tennessean reports.
Analysis: While he isn't necessarily a lock for the opener, it sounds like Filip Forsberg has a good chance to play. He's already locked up a spot with the NHL team, and figures to see plenty of ice time. As a 19-year-old former first-round pick, Forsberg should be one of the more intriguing rookies to watch this season.

Preds' Forsberg Day To Day With Lower Body Injury

News: Filip Forsberg missed practice Monday after aggravating a lower-body injury in Sunday's preseason game against the Islanders, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Hopefully this is nothing too serious, as Filip Forsberg has more than likely locked up a roster spot after a very strong training camp and preseason. According to coach Barry Trotz, "[Forsberg] was really consistent in the preseason in the scrimmage portion, but since we got into the exhibition season he's been a force offensively." Keep an eye on this latest injury and make sure it's not going to keep Forsberg out long-term before you pick him up in your fantasy drafts.
