Bolts Ink Koekkoek

News: The Lightning signed Slater Koekkoek (shoulder) to a three-year, entry level deal Wednesday.
Analysis: The Bolts chose the defenseman with the 10th overall pick in the 2012 NHL entry draft, but he's probably at least another year away from having an impact in the NHL. Slater Koekkoek registered six goals and 23 assists in 42 games in the OHL this season, before having season-ending shoulder surgery in January.

Lightning Prospect Koekkoek Shut Down For The Season

News: Slater Koekkoek will require a second shoulder surgery that will keep him out four to six months, ending his season, the Denver Post reports.
Analysis: The team's top pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Slater Koekkoek had been plying his trade at the junior level, scoring 28 points over 40 games. Koekkoek's earlier surgery failed to properly heal the injured shoulder, prompting a second procedure and costing the prospect half a season of development.
