Jackets' Murray Won't Play Saturday

News: Ryan Murray (knee) will not return to action Saturday against the Senators, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray is apparently close to receiving clearance to return to action, but he'll have to get in a few more practices before he's activated from injured reserve. The Blue Jackets acknowledged that it's possible Murray could return at some point during the team's California trip, perhaps as soon as next Thursday versus the Sharks.

Jackets' Murray To Be Evaluated Friday

News: Ryan Murray (knee) could be cleared to return to action as soon as Friday, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: If he is cleared, the young defenseman could suit up for Saturday's game in Ottawa, or the Jackets could play it safe and hold him out until their west coast swing the following week. Ryan Murray's return could have an impact on the Jackets' depth on the blue line though, as Cody Goloubef would have to clear waivers to be sent down to the AHL and could be snapped up.

Blue Jackets' Murray Still Without Timetable

News: Ryan Murray (knee) practiced Monday, but is still without a return date, reports the team's official site.
Analysis: The report says that Ryan Murray is getting very close to returning, but he's yet to pinpoint a specific game in which that'll happen. Until further notice, monitor the defenseman's status on a game-to-game basis. "It's not really up to me," Murray said. "It's great to see (the first two wins). We're all working together for the same goal. Obviously, you want to play and be part of everything, but at the same time, if we're winning, then it's always a good thing."

Jackets' Murray Participates In Practice

News: Ryan Murray (knee) was on the ice for practice Wednesday, NHL.com's Rob Mixer reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray is slated to miss the first week of the season after he was placed on injured reserve Sunday, but he looks like he's on track to return shortly thereafter. He'll assume a top-four role on defense once he's healthy.

Blue Jackets Place Murray On Injured Reserve

News: Ryan Murray (knee) was placed on injured reserve Sunday, Shawn Mitchell of The Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray hasn't been cleared for contact, and will now need to miss at least a week because of the designation. He will likely retake a roster spot when he comes back.

Jackets' Murray Still Not Cleared For Contact

News: Although Ryan Murray (knee) continues to skate in practice, he hasn't yet been cleared for contact, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards is still hopeful that Ryan Murray will be able to play in the regular-season opener, but it's looking more like a brief IR stint will be necessary. Cody Goloubef would likely begin the season on the NHL roster if Murray isn't able to go.

Jackets' Murray Skates In Full Gear Thursday

News: Ryan Murray (knee) skated in full practice gear Thursday, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray revealed Thursday that he underwent a knee scope in June to clear up a cartilage issue, a procedure that kept him off the ice for most of the summer. While Murray didn't anticipate that any knee soreness would carry over into training camp, he's nonetheless been slow to progress to full practices. The Blue Jackets haven't relayed a timetable for his return, but the fact that he demonstrated some improvement Thursday suggests a return for opening night could still be in the cards.

Jackets' Murray (Knee) Skates Sunday

News: Ryan Murray (knee) was able to skate in practice Sunday, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray skated as part of the non-contact group, but this is still good news for his recovery. It appears that he is progressing well, and should be ready well before the regular season.

Jackets' Murray Has Lingering Knee Issue

News: Ryan Murray was held out of the first day of training camp due to some soreness in his knee following an offseason scope, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The Jackets aren't treating this as a major issue, but given Ryan Murray's history of lower-body injuries so far in his brief NHL career this is worth keeping an eye on.

Jackets' Murray (Foot) Will Play In Game 5

News: Ryan Murray (foot) will play in Saturday's Game 5 against the Penguins, The Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: While Ryan Murray missed Game 4 and did not take part in Friday's practice, coach Todd Richards confirmed after Saturday's morning skate that Murray will return for Game 5.

Blue Jackets' Murray (Foot) Doesn't Skate

News: Ryan Murray (foot) did not participate in Friday's practice, The Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray missed Wednesday's Game 4 after taking a puck to the foot during Columbus' morning skate earlier that day. Seen wearing a walking boot since, Murray's status should be updated ahead of Saturday's Game 5.

Columbus' Murray Has Foot Ailment

News: Ryan Murray was scratched from Wednesday's Game 4 match with the Penguins due to a foot injury he sustained at morning skate, the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray was spotted wearing a walking boot during the game after taking a puck to the foot in morning skate. Although Nick Schultz took Murray's spot in the lineup Wednesday, coach Todd Richards said that he expects Murray to play again in the series, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.

Blue Jackets' Murray Out Wednesday Night

News: Ryan Murray will not play in Wednesday night's contest against the Penguins, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray will sit in favor of Nick Schultz in Wednesday's playoff showdown. The 20-year-old logged 24 minutes during Monday's Game 3, finishing with a minus-2 rating for the Blue Jackets. It's currently unclear whether an injury is in play here, or if coach Todd Richards is looking for a stronger veteran presence in the lineup. However, we'll note that Murray did leave the morning skate early, which leads us to believe it might be the former reason.

Blue Jackets' Murray Out Saturday To Rest

News: Ryan Murray (knee) will not play in Saturday's game against the Panthers as a precaution, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray thus finishes the regular season with 21 points in 66 games, and it sounds like he should be fine for the start of the playoffs.

Jackets' Murray Finishes Plus-1 In Return

News: Ryan Murray (knee) logged 17:33 of ice time and finished with a plus-1 rating in his return to lineup Friday against the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Ryan Murray missed the past month of action after going arthroscopic knee surgery, but assumed a prominent role right away for the Blue Jackets upon returning. Prior to the injury, Murray was one of the top-performing rookie blueliners with 20 points and 93 blocked shots in 61 games. He's a huge addition for the Blue Jackets to have over the final handful of games as they look to solidify a playoff spot.

Jackets' Murray Could Return Friday

News: Ryan Murray (knee) will travel with the team to Philadelphia on Thursday, and could play Friday against the Blackhawks.
Analysis: The 20-year-old blueliner will presumably travel to get some extra practice in prior to his return, which could come as early as Friday. Ryan Murray has put together a solid rookie season so far, tallying three goals and 17 assists, to go along with a plus-3 rating in 61 games.

Jackets' Murray Skates On Own Thursday

News: Ryan Murray (lower body) skated on his own Thursday, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray was seen wearing full gear and looks to be making progress from the knee injury that has sidelined him for the last two-plus weeks. He was initially given a four-to-six week timetable with the injury, so it probably looks like he won't be a lineup option until the playoffs, should the Blue Jackets qualify.

Blue Jackets' Murray Out 4-6 Weeks

News: Ryan Murray underwent arthroscopic knee surgery Saturday and will miss the next four to six weeks.
Analysis: The injury comes as devastating timing with the Blue Jackets fighting for a contention for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference and in need of as many key contributors as possible to secure a spot. For fantasy owners, Ryan Murray's absence is similarly damaging, as the 20-year-old ranked third among all rookies in hits (93) and fifth in power-play points among rookie defensemen (6). Even if the Blue Jackets do qualify for the playoffs, Murray could be hard-pressed to be healthy in time given his lengthy timetable.

Blue Jackets' Murray Day-To-Day

News: Ryan Murray is day-to-day with a lower body injury.
Analysis: The report adds that coach Todd Richards expects Ryan Murray back at some point, but at first glance, it looks like the young blueliner's absence will extend beyond Tuesday's game against the Stars.

Blue Jackets' Murray Exits With Injury

News: Ryan Murray left Monday's game with a lower-body injury and will not return to the contest, Todd Sharrock of bluejackets.com reports.
Analysis: After exiting in the first period, Ryan Murray was ruled out for the night early in the second period. The Blue Jackets are clawing for the No. 8 seed and can ill afford to lose a top-four defenseman, but fantasy owners should have an easier time replacing Murray's production, as the former No. 2 overall pick has just 20 points and 10 PIM through the first 61 appearances of his rookie season.

Jackets' Murray To Play Friday

News: Ryan Murray (upper body) will play in Friday's game against the Sharks, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray left Thursday's game with an upper-body injury and was unable to return. After testing it out Friday, he will be in the lineup for the Blue Jackets.

Blue Jackets' Murray Suffers Injury

News: Ryan Murray left Thursday's game with an upper-body injury and is questionable to return, Todd Sharrock of bluejackets.com reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray stayed in the game after taking a huge hit from the Kings' Dustin Brown, but the rookie defenseman was eventually forced out of action and deemed questionable to return. Brown elbowed Murray in the face/neck area, so a head injury is the most likely diagnosis, assuming that Murray's issue is related to the big hit. Columbus' final game before the Olympic break is scheduled for Friday, meaning that Murray probably won't miss more than one game, unless the injury turns out to be far more serious than it looked. As ugly as the hit was, Murray didn't lose consciousness and returned to skate a few shifts.

Jackets' Murray Grabs Another Assist

News: Ryan Murray assisted on one of the Blue Jackets' three goals in Friday's win over Carolina, giving him three helpers in the last four games.
Analysis: Ryan Murray has certainly seen his production ebb and flow in his rookie season, but he's typically put together his 12 points in bunches, as with this recent stretch. He's seen his power-play time go up and has seven shots on goal in the last two games.

Jackets' Murray Picks Up Two Points

News: Ryan Murray scored a power-play goal, added an assist and went plus-3 in Monday's 6-0 rout of the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: The rookie has just two goals and four points on the season, but if Ryan Murray starts seeing more ice time with the man advantage, he might be able to work his way into some consistent fantasy value.

Jackets' Murray To Play Saturday

News: Ryan Murray (upper body) will play Saturday vs. the Islanders, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray missed Friday's practice with upper-body soreness but will check back into the lineup after completing morning skate without incident. He'll pair up with James Wisniewski on defense.
