Jackets Make Murray A Healthy Scratch Saturday

News: Ryan Murray will be a healthy scratch for Saturday's game against the Islanders.
Analysis: Ryan Murray has dealt with multiple injury setbacks throughout the season, but he avoided such a pitfall in Friday's game against the Sabres. Instead, coach Todd Richards said the team was planning to rest Murray for the finale all along, with Kevin Connauton drawing back in the lineup in his stead. Murray appeared in just 12 games this season due to the injury, but he's still viewed as a vital component on the Blue Jackets' defensive ranks for next season and beyond.

Blue Jackets' Murray Set To Return

News: Ryan Murray (lower body) is slated to play Wednesday against the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: With Ryan Murray, who last suited up on March 18, back in the mix, look for Kevin Connauton to sit out Wednesday's contest. Injuries have limited the 21-year-old blueliner to just 10 games this season, over which Murray has recorded two helpers and eight PIM.

Blue Jackets' Murray Nears Return

News: Ryan Murray (lower body) is likely to play in Wednesday's game against the Maple Leafs, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: "We'll see in the morning, but there is a good chance that he'll be in the lineup," coach Todd Richards noted Tuesday. Per the report, if Ryan Murray does play Wednesday, he'll likely play again Friday against Buffalo before sitting out the season finale against the Islanders on Saturday.

Blue Jackets' Murray (Lower Body) Resumes Skating

News: Ryan Murray (lower body) took the ice for Friday's optional morning skate, NHL.com's Rob Mixer reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray has been limited to just 10 appearances this season, but his Friday return to the ice indicates he may have a shot to get a few more games in. While he probably won't be available for Saturday's game against the Penguins, a return at some point next week cannot be ruled out. The Blue Jackets will close out their disappointing season with a four-game week, playing Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Blue Jackets' Murray Remains Out

News: Ryan Murray (lower body) will not join the Blue Jackets' on their two-game road trip over the weekend, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray won't return to the Columbus lineup any sooner than next Tuesday against the Devils, but since he has yet to resume skating since suffering the injury, fantasy owners shouldn't count on him being available by then. The blueliner has been limited to just 10 games this season.

Blue Jackets' Murray Still Out

News: Ryan Murray (lower body) won't play Tuesday against the Ducks, the Blue Jackets' official site reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray, who has been limited by injury to just 10 games this season, remains day-to-day in advance of Friday's game against Chicago.

Jackets' Murray Remains Out Saturday

News: Ryan Murray (lower body) will remain out for Saturday's game against the Flames, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The Blue Jackets aren't sounding the alarm on another lengthy absence for Ryan Murray, but with the blueliner set to miss his second straight game, fantasy owners certainly can't be optimistic about his prospects. Murray had only played three games since returning from a high-ankle sprain March 13, and has been limited by injury to just 10 appearances all season. He'll be listed as day-to-day until the Blue Jackets provide an update on his condition.

Jackets To Keep Murray Out Thursday

News: Ryan Murray will be held out of Thursday's game against the Canucks due to a lower-body injury, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: The Blue Jackets relayed that Ryan Murray absorbed a hit to the lower-body area during the second period of Wednesday's shootout win over the Oilers. While the injury didn't force him out of the game, Murray will be sidelined Thursday for precautionary purposes, as he's already missed extensive time during his young career due to knee and ankle concerns. The team doesn't seem to be fearing another setback for the 21-year-old, so there's a decent chance he'll be able to play in the final game of the Jackets' road trip Saturday in Calgary.

Jackets Activate Murray, To Play Friday

News: Ryan Murray (high-ankle sprain) was activated from injured reserve Thursday.
Analysis: According to the Columbus Dispatch's Aaron Portzline, Ryan Murray will remain out of the lineup Thursday against the Red Wings, but will make his first appearance since Feb. 6 on Friday against the Oilers. Lower-body injuries have marred Murray's first two seasons in the NHL, but if he can stay healthy for the final few weeks and flash the scoring potential that made him the second overall pick in 2012, he could be a breakout candidate heading into 2015-16.

Jackets' Murray Won't Play Tuesday

News: Ryan Murray (ankle) will not play in Tuesday's game against the Hurricanes, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray traveled with the Blue Jackets to Raleigh to continue working out with the team, but it still seems he's at least a few more days away from returning to action. He had a lengthy on-ice workout during Tuesday's morning skate and seems to be progressing positively, but it's too early to say if he'll be able to play during Thursday's tilt with the Red Wings.

Jackets' Murray (Ankle) To Travel With Team

News: Ryan Murray (ankle) will travel with the team to Carolina, but is not expected to play Tuesday, Shawn Mitchell of The Columbus Dispatch reports. He hasn't been officially ruled out for the contest, however.
Analysis: Ryan Murray took part in the team's practice Monday, indicating that he is nearing a return. However, it seems Thursday against the Red Wings would probably be a more realistic target date than Tuesday.

Jackets' Murray Resumes Skating

News: Coach Todd Richards said Thursday that Ryan Murray (ankle) has resumed skating, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray is closing in on the near end of his four-to-six week return timetable, and fully expects to play before the season draws to a close. It's not apparent when he might be cleared to take the next step in the process and practice with the team, but the fact that he hasn't hit any setbacks in his recovery thus far offers some encouragement.

Jackets Place Murray (Ankle) On Injured Reserve

News: Ryan Murray (ankle) was placed on injured reserve Monday, Shawn Mitchell of The Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray is out 4-to-6 weeks due to the ankle injury, so it comes as no surprise that the team placed him on injured reserve to open up a roster spot. The Blue Jackets will likely make a corresponding move at some point in the near future.

Jackets' Murray (Ankle) Out 4-to-6 Weeks

News: Ryan Murray (ankle) is expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks.
Analysis: The official diagnosis for Ryan Murray is a high-ankle sprain, which he suffered during Friday's win over St. Louis. A move to injured reserve will likely come in short order, with the Blue Jackets in the midst of a span of three games in four days.

Blue Jackets' Murray (Lower Body) Out Saturday

News: Ryan Murray (lower body) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against Ottawa, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray left Friday's game in the third period after taking a shot off of his left leg. The team as not elaborated on the injury, but he'll be evaluated by team medical personnel on Saturday and will not travel with the team. James Wisniewski, who also left Friday's game, will not make the trip either.

Jackets' Murray Leaves Game With Injury

News: Ryan Murray left Friday's contest against the Blues with a lower-body injury and will not return to the game, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray left Friday's game in the third period after blocking a shot with his left leg. Murray and the Blue Jackets will hope that the 21-year-old defender didn't re-injure the knee he had surgery on in March, as that injury has sidelined him for all but six games this season. The team should update Murray's status in the coming days.

Jackets' Murray Picks Up Assist In Return

News: Ryan Murray, playing in his first game since early November due to lingering knee issues, took a regular shift and picked up an assist in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Lightning.
Analysis: He didn't see any power play time, which puts a limit on his fantasy ceiling, but Ryan Murray's return could provide a boost to a struggling Blue Jackets' squad. Look for the club to try and deal one of their now-surplus defensemen once Murray proves he can handle a full workload.

Blue Jackets' Murray Activated From IR

News: Ryan Murray (knee) has been activated from injured reserve ahead of Saturday's game in Tampa Bay, the Blue Jackets' official website reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray will finally make his return, following an absence that lasted 36 games. Having also missed the first seven games of the season in the aftermath of March knee surgery, the 21-year-old Murray has only appeared in four contests this season. He impressed as a rookie last year, averaging 19:52 of ice time over 66 games, with 21 points and a plus-4 rating. Murray's return pushes winger Josh Anderson to AHL Springfield.

Jackets' Murray (Knee) Traveling, But Won't Play

News: Ryan Murray (knee) will not play Thursday against the Panthers, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray practiced fully with the Blue Jackets a day earlier and was cleared by doctors to travel with the team to South Florida, but it looks like the team will exercise some precaution and give him some additional recovery time. The blueliner has been progressing well lately after remaining in a long-term holding pattern with his recovery from the knee injury, so he could make his long-awaited return over the weekend in Tampa Bay for the final game of the road trip.

Jackets' Murray (Knee) Practices Fully

News: Ryan Murray (knee) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray clearly appears to be nearing the end of his recovery timetable from knee soreness, which has sidelined him since the beginning of November. The 21-year-old looked set to develop into a cornerstone on the blue line during an impressive rookie season in 2013-14, but he's had a tough time staying on the ice since undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery last March. While his upside is as intriguing as just about any defenseman who might be on the waiver wire in most leagues, it's probably best to see how he performs in his first few games after returning to action rather than investing heavily in him right away. His return to action could come as soon as Thursday's game against the Panthers.

Jackets' Murray (Knee) Could Be Cleared Next Week

News: General manager Jarmo Kekalainen said Ryan Murray (knee) could be cleared to return next week, Shawn Mitchell of the COlumbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray resumed practicing almost two weeks ago and would seem to be progressing steadily in his recovery from the knee issue, which has been problematic since he underwent arthroscopic surgery in March. The rearguard was limited to just four games before his knee starting bothering him again, which has kept him out of the lineup since Nov. 1. The Blue Jackets will proceed cautiously with bringing him back in the fold due to the multiple setbacks he's already suffered with his knee, but it does appear likely we'll see him back in action again at some point in February.

Blue Jackets' Murray Practices

News: Ryan Murray (knee) took part in Monday's practice, Shawn Mitchell of The Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray's participation Monday is encouraging, but he was limited, which infers that the blueliner's return is not imminent.

Jackets' Murray Takes Part In Optional Practice

News: Ryan Murray (knee) participated in Friday's optional practice.
Analysis: While it's encouraging to see Ryan Murray skating again, the team is still calling him week-to-week in his recovery. It seems likely that he won't see him play any games until after the New Year.

Blue Jackets' Murray Remains Out Indefinitely

News: Ryan Murray (knee) remains sidelined indefinitely, Shawn Mitchell of The Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Ryan Murray is still in the strength-building portion of his recovery from a knee injury, so he won't be suiting up for the Blue Jackets anytime soon.

Jackets' Murray Will Not Require Surgery On Knee

News: Ryan Murray had another MRI on Tuesday, which revealed no structural damage to his knee and will not require surgery, Aaron Portzline of The Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Despite the good news, Ryan Murray is still considered week-to-week with the injury rather than day-to-day, ensuring he won't be returning in the immediate future. Instead, it now sounds like a late-November or early-December return date would be a more realistic scenario for the defenseman, barring any setbacks. The 21-year-old has failed to register a point in his four games played this season.
