Kings Rule Pearson Out For Regular Season

News: Tanner Pearson (leg) won't play in either of the Kings' final two games of the regular season, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: The news doesn't come as a surprise after an X-ray last week showed that Tanner Pearson's leg hadn't healed as quickly as he had hoped. While Pearson still seems to be ahead of schedule in his recovery, he'll still require another X-ray next week before proceeding with the next step of his rehab. If the Kings qualify for the playoffs, Pearson could still be available at some point in the first round.

Kings Extend Pearson Two Years

News: Tanner Pearson (leg) signed a two-year, $2.8 million contract extension with the Kings on Thursday, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: The deal could turn out to be a steal for the Kings, who likely received a discount on Tanner Pearson since he's missed about half of this season with a fractured left fibula. The 22-year-old winger, who was a first-round draft pick by the Kings in 2012, tallied 12 goals, four assists, and a plus-14 rating in 42 games, and profiles as an ideal second-line player for the team long-term. It remains unlikely that he'll return before the end of the regular season, but he could be ready to play during the playoffs, should the Kings qualify.

Kings' Pearson Not Healing As Quickly As Hoped

News: Tanner Pearson (leg) underwent an X-ray Tuesday, which didn't show as much healing as he had hoped, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: Tanner Pearson appeared to be making a bid for returning to the lineup before the end of the regular season, but those plans may have hit some friction with the news he received following his X-ray. While it doesn't sound like the winger is dealing with a major setback, the Kings haven't wavered from the three-month timetable Pearson was issued after suffering the injury Jan. 10. If his subsequent skates with the team continue to go well, Pearson could put himself on track to return for the first round of the playoffs.

Kings' Pearson Targeting April Return

News: Tanner Pearson (leg) believes he'll be able to return at some point in April, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: Tanner Pearson won't play on the Kings' three-game road trip, but it appears he hasn't ruled out a return when the team heads back home April 2 against the Oilers. Even if a return for that game doesn't materialize, it's quite an amazing development that Pearson is even drawing consideration to play, as the Kings initially believed he would be lost for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs after fracturing his fibula in January. The young winger has rehabbed hard and has since resumed skating with the team, and if he's able to increase his activity in the days to follow, the Kings will have a nice addition to their playoff push.

Kings' Pearson To Receive X-Ray Soon

News: Tanner Pearson will receive another X-ray on his left leg in the coming days, Lisa Dillman of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: Tanner Pearson suggested that he's progressing faster than anticipated from the broken fibula, but said he doesn't expect to receive an update on his condition until after the Kings' road trip wraps up March 30. It still appears highly unlikely that Pearson play again before the regular season draws to a close, though with his skate sessions beginning to increase in intensity, a return during the postseason might still be realistic.

Kings' Pearson Skates Briefly With Team

News: Tanner Pearson (leg) skated briefly with the Kings during the tail end of Friday's practice, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: Tanner Pearson has been skating over the last few weeks while he continues to steadily rehab a broken lower-left fibula. The Kings haven't authored an official timetable for Pearson's return, but in a best-case scenario, it appears the winger wouldn't be back until deep into the postseason. Pearson plans to increase the intensity of his workouts over the days and weeks to come, at which point the team may have a better idea of how much longer he'll be out.

Kings' Pearson Back On Ice

News: General manager Dean Lombardi indicated that Tanner Pearson (leg) returned to the ice last week, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: Lombardi is in the infancy stages of his rehab process after fracturing his left fibula in mid-January. He's still experiencing some swelling with his ankle, but it shouldn't inhibit him too much in his attempt to regain conditioning. Even so, a return before the end of the regular season has been ruled out, and it doesn't look like the Kings are anticipating that he'll be available at any point in the playoffs, either.

Return Seemingly Ruled Out For Kings' Pearson

News: Coach Darryl Sutter said Tuesday that the Kings are operating with the assumption that Tanner Pearson (leg) won't be available in time for the postseason, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: The Kings had previously closed the door on the idea of Tanner Pearson returning before the end of the regular season, and now it looks like a return for the playoffs is off the table as well. It's probably for the best that Pearson doesn't try to beat his projected timetable of three months, as nothing would be worse for the 22-year-old than enduring an injury setback as a result of trying to come back too quickly.

Kings' Pearson Done For Regular Season

News: Kings assistant GM Rob Blake indicated that Tanner Pearson (leg) is expected to miss the rest of the regular season after undergoing surgery on his fractured left fibula, Lisa Dillman of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: With Tanner Pearson set to require three months of rehab time to recover from the procedure, that timeline would seem to make a return late in the postseason the best-case scenario for the winger. He'll likely finish his 2014-15 campaign with 12 goals and 16 points over 42 games.

Surgery Looming For Kings' Pearson (Leg)

News: Tanner Pearson (leg) will undergo surgery on his fractured left fibula later this week, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: The Kings aren't offering a timetable for Tanner Pearson's return, but multiple weeks would seem to be the conservative estimate. The young forward has been getting around on crutches since suffering the injury Saturday night. Pearson previously broke his right fibula while playing in the junior level prior to the Kings' selection of him in the 2012 NHL Draft.

Kings' Pearson (Leg) To Be Placed On IR

News: Tanner Pearson (leg) will be placed on injured reserve, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.
Analysis: Tanner Pearson suffered a broken leg in the second period of Saturday's game, so it's no surprise that he will be headed to IR. The Kings are expected to recall Nick Shore to take his spot on the roster.

Kings' Pearson Breaks Leg

News: Tanner Pearson has a broken bone in his leg, according to CBC's Hockey Night in Canada. He left Saturday's game after going into the boards awkwardly in the second period.
Analysis: His legs bent back underneath him and he left the game without putting any weight on his left leg. Prior to the game, he had been selected to appear in the rookie skills competition at the 2015 NHL all-star game coming up in Columbus. Stick him on your IR in keeper formats and cut him loose in single-year leagues.

Pearson Snaps Goal Drought In Kings Loss

News: Tanner Pearson snapped an 11-game goal drought with a tally in a 4-3 loss to the Rangers on Thursday.
Analysis: Tanner Pearson continues to struggle after picking up seven goals in October with just four points (three goals and an assist) since the start of December.

Pearson Finds Net In LA Victory

News: Tanner Pearson tallied an empty-net goal in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Senators.
Analysis: Tanner Pearson's score was just added insurance for the Kings, who quelled any hopes of a late Ottawa rally with the marker. Though the goal was kind of a cheap one, Pearson will take what he can get these days, as he's lost considerable steam after tallying seven goals and nine points in October. Since his two-goal outing against the Blue Jackets on Oct. 26, Pearson has just five points across 21 games.

Pearson Snaps Goal Drought In Kings Win

News: Tanner Pearson picked up his first goal in 12 games in a 3-2 win over Carolina on Thursday.
Analysis: Tanner Pearson got off to a hot start with seven goals in his first eight games and earning Rookie of the Month honors for October but was nearly a healthy scratch before netting the game-winner Thursday. We'll see if this gets him back on the right track, though he's no longer skating with linemates Jeff Carter and Tyler Toffoli.

Kings' Pearson Nabs Two In Win

News: Tanner Pearson scored twice, his sixth and seventh of the season, in Sunday's 5-2 win over the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: It took just eight games for the 22-year-old to eclipse last season's seven points, which came over the span of 25 games a year ago, and he should be in line for a lot more. The trio of Tanner Pearson, Jeff Carter, and Tyler Toffoli have continued to build on last year's success, and all three could put up huge numbers this season.

Kings' Pearson Stays Hot

News: Tanner Pearson picked up a goal, his fifth of the season, in Sunday's 2-1 victory over the Wild.
Analysis: Tanner Pearson is off to a tremendous start, already matching his point total from last season with seven. He's now scored in four of the team's first six games, and should continue to be a force going forward.

Pearson Leads Kings To Win Tuesday

News: Tanner Pearson paced the Kings to a 6-1 win over Edmonton on Tuesday with two goals -- one on the power play -- an assist, two PIM and a plus-2 rating.
Analysis: After a quiet game in the season-opening shutout loss to the Sharks, the second-year man has exploded with goals in three straight, totaling six points and a plus-6 rating in that span. And he's doing it in very limited minutes -- Tuesday's 14:44 was actually his highest ice time of the season. Once the Kings give him a bigger role, watch out.

Kings' Pearson Nets Goal In Loss

News: Tanner Pearson notched his first goal of the season in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Coyotes.
Analysis: Tanner Pearson and linemates Tyler Toffoli and Jeff Carter were the only source of offense for the Kings, and appear to be showing the same chemistry that they showed in the playoffs last year.

L.A.'s Pearson Remains Scalding Hot

News: Tanner Pearson scored his fourth goal of the playoffs in Wednesday's Game 5 loss to the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Tanner Pearson's wrister from the right circle put the Kings ahead 4-3 with seven minutes left in the second period, but the Blackhawks would tie things up in the third to extend the game to overtime. The 21-year-old Pearson has been fantastic for the Kings during the playoffs and has made a strong case to soar up fantasy draft boards next season. He's tallied at least one point in six consecutive games and has 12 in total over 17 playoff contests.

Four Games, Five Points For L.A.'s Pearson

News: Tanner Pearson picked up an assist Saturday in a 4-3 win over the Blackhawks. He now has five points, including four assists, on his current four-game point streak.
Analysis: This young man is showing real chemistry with Jeff Carter and Tyler Toffoli on "That 70s Line." There are always a couple of breakouts in the playoffs and Tanner Pearson could be that guy.

Kings' Pearson Adds Two Assists In Win

News: Tanner Pearson collected two assists in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Blackhawks.

Kings' Pearson Gets First Playoff Goal In Game 7

News: Tanner Pearson came away with a goal and an assist in Wednesday's Game 7 win over the Sharks.
Analysis: Tanner Pearson's first career playoff goal put the finishing touches on the 5-1 victory, as the Kings became the fourth team in NHL history to overcome a 3-0 series deficit in a best-of-seven series. The youngster should remain a mainstay in the lineup for the Kings' second-round matchup with Anaheim.

Kings Recall Pearson

News: Tanner Pearson was recalled from AHL Manchester on Wednesday, Jon Rosen of LAKingsInsider.com reports.
Analysis: The Kings are in need of some extra bodies with Dustin Brown and Anze Kopitar still fulfilling their Olympic obligations, so Tanner Pearson will rejoin the big club to round out the forward ranks. It hasn't been determined yet if he'll stay with the team once they have their full complement of players back at practices.
