Hawks' Morrison Finally Finds The Ice

News: Brendan Morrison was on the ice Wednesday for the first time since Feb. 26 as he replaced Jamal Mayers who was out due to an illness.
Analysis: Brendan Morrison had one shot on goal with 14 minutes of ice time. He did win half of his face-offs (five). While never expected to get a bowl-full of points since they acquired him from the Flames in January, the Blackhawks did expect him to give them some output instead of not scoring a point. It's been so bad for Morrison that he needed Mayers' sickness to get on the ice.

Hawks' Morrison Searching For A Point

News: Brendan Morrison is still looking for his first points as a Blackhawk when the team skates against the Rangers on Friday, Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis: It doesn't help Brendan Morrison that he has been a healthy scratch for the last four games before Friday's contest with the Rangers. Blackhawks' coach Joel Quenneville is looking at the rookies and in turn players like Morrison have been sitting.

Morrison Returns Sunday for Hawks

News: Brendan Morrison returned back to action for the Hawks on Sunday night.
Analysis: Brendan Morrison, who was a scratch in seven of the last nine games for the Hawks, played 12:20 in Sunday night's contest against the Ducks and accumulated two PIMs. Morrison has been struggling to find himself since being traded to Chicago following the All-Star break.

Morrison In For Chicago Tuesday

News: Brendan Morrison will play against Detroit on Tuesday, Chicago Sun-Times writer Adam Jahns reports.
Analysis: There's hope that Brendan Morrison will regain his 40-point pace in Chicago, but until he demonstrates as much, he's best avoided as a fantasy option.

Chicago Trades For Morrison

News: Chicago traded for Brendan Morrison in exchange for Brian Connelly on Friday, Blackhawks.NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Brendan Morrison had just 11 points (four goals) through 28 games in Calgary, but he's a candidate to see more ice time in Chicago.

Flames' Morrison Could Return Saturday

News: Brendan Morrison (upper body) could return to the ice for Saturday's game against the Oilers, TSN's Ryan Rishaug reports.
Analysis: Brendan Morrison has been out for two weeks, but he appears ready to return and will be a game-time decision Saturday night.

Flames' Morrison To Travel With Team

News: Brendan Morrison hasn't indicated when he will return to the Calgary lineup, but will travel with the team on its road trip starting Tuesday, the Calgary Sun reports.
Analysis: Brendan Morrison hasn't played since Jan. 5 since tweaking an upper-body injury, which is most likely his back. He has missed a lot of time this year, and it seems unlikely that he will equal his 2010-11 production of 43 points, with only 11 points in 26 games so far.

Flames' Morrison Banged Up

News: Although Brendan Morrison (upper body) has not been placed on IR, he's expected to miss some time according to head coach Brent Sutter, the Calgary Herald reports.
Analysis: Sutter did not elaborate on the specific nature of Brendan Morrison's ailment, but considering that he wasn't placed on IR while teammate Scott Hannan received that tag Thursday, there's at least a chance that Morrison won't be out much longer than Friday. Morrison has missed each of the last three games with the undisclosed ailment.

Calgary's Morrison Tweaks Upper Body

News: Brendan Morrison missed Saturday's game with an "upper-body tweak" and is day-to-day going forward, according to the Calgary Sun.
Analysis: Brendan Morrison has struggled with a back injury all season, and this is likely another setback. He has scored in bursts this season, but it appears the 36-year-old's age is catching up to him.

Flames' Morrison Gets Back On The Scoresheet

News: Brendan Morrison notched an assist in the Flames' 3-1 loss to the Islanders on Thursday.
Analysis: Although Brendan Morrison was hot in early December, he has since cooled off and is now centering the Flames' fourth line. He still has a little scoring potential, but there are better fantasy options at the center position.

Flames' Morrison Gets Assist Thursday

News: Brendan Morrison had an assist in Calgary's 3-2 victory against Detroit on Thursday.
Analysis: The assist snapped a five-game scoreless streak for Brendan Morrison. Although he has nine points in 19 games, four of those were all in one contest, and he has scored in only five of those 19 games. Leave him on the bench unless he gets hot again.

Calgary's Morrison Continues Hot Streak

News: Brendan Morrison scored for the third straight game Saturday, picking up an assist in the Flames' 3-0 win over the Oilers.
Analysis: Brendan Morrison has ramped up his game since being a victim of a healthy scratch, scoring seven points in his last three games. He appears to be re-gathering the form he had in 2010-11, when he had 43 points in 66 games. He's an excellent fantasy play at the moment.

Flames' Morrison Suddenly Burning Hot

News: Brendan Morrison picked up a pair of power-play assists in Thursday's win over the Avalanche, giving his six points in his last two games.
Analysis: Brendan Morrison went scoreless in his first eight games of the season, but despite losing time to injury, he's found his offensive game since breaking through with his first goal Nov. 23. Owners in deeper leagues should check on his availability.

Flames' Morrison Blows Up For Four Points

News: Brendan Morrison (knee) skated only 14:50 in Tuesday's win over Carolina, but he scored two goals and added two assists, quintupling his season point total.
Analysis: Brendan Morrison has been limited by injuries all year, but he certainly didn't look too limited Tuesday after having been scratched for Sunday's game. He clicked well with Jarome Iginla and Olli Jokinen, so look for him to stay with them in the short term.

Flames' Morrison Dealing With Knee Issues

News: Brendan Morrison did not play against the Canucks on Sunday, the Vancouver Sun reports.
Analysis: Brendan Morrison has struggled with injuries all year and has only played 10 games so far. He may be out a few more games before he gets back to 100 percent.

Flames' Morrison Not In Projected Lineup For Tuesday

News: Brendan Morrison is not listed among the top four lines for Tuesday's game against Nashville, the Calgary Herald reports.
Analysis: Brendan Morrison will likely be fighting for playing time with Matt Stajan for the rest of the year, and head coach Brent Sutter is shaking lines up as much as he can to try and spark some offense. The knee injury Morrison rehabbed through the offseason may have ended his fantasy career, as he has only one point in 10 games this season.

Flames' Morrison Gets Goal In Return

News: Brendan Morrison returned from injury to score his first goal of the season Wednesday as the Flames fell to the Red Wings 5-3.
Analysis: Brendan Morrison struggled through his first eight games of the season without a point but looked better in 10 minutes of action Wednesday. He was a decent fantasy center last season but needs to show some consistency before receiving that label again this season.

Flames' Morrison Ready To Roll Wednesday

News: Brendan Morrison (knee) will return to the lineup Wednesday against Detroit, Brian Hedger of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: He came off of IR a few days ago, but will look to get on the scoresheet in his return to action Wednesday after being held scoreless through eight games before landing on IR with the injury. Matt Stajan will be scratched to accommodate Brendan Morrison's return.

Flames' Morrison Aims To Return This Week

News: Brendan Morrison (knee) is hoping to return to the Flames lineup this week, the Calgary Sun reports.
Analysis: Brendan Morrison hopes to contribute more as he returns from injury, as he has yet to score a point in eight games this season.

Flames Take Morrison Off IR

News: Brendan Morrison (knee) has been taken off injured reserve by the Flames, the Calgary Herald reports.
Analysis: Brendan Morrison didn't play in Friday's win over the Blackhawks, but it sounds like he's close to a return and it looked like there was an outside chance he'd be in the lineup Friday. With zero point in eight games, there's not a lot to get excited about unless he can gain a spot on the Jarome Iginla line while earning meaningful power play minutes.

Flames' Morrison Placed On Injured Reserve

News: Brendan Morrison (knee) has been placed on injured reserve due to inadequate rehabilitation following surgery to repair a torn ACL, tsn.ca reports.
Analysis: No news on exactly how long Brendan Morrison will be out, but this does not sound good. It would not be surprising if he missed a few months.

Flames Sitting Morrison Sunday

News: Brendan Morrison will not play Sunday against Colorado, the Flames' official site reports.
Analysis: Brendan Morrison has not been able to get anything going this season, so the Flames will try to shake things up, replacing Cory Sarich and Morrison with Derek Smith and Pierre-Luc Letournau-Leblond.

Flames' Morrison Relegated To Second Line

News: Brendan Morrison was benched the entire third period of Friday's game and is now centering the Flames' second line, the Calgary Herald reports.
Analysis: It's been a rough year returning from injury by Brendan Morrison, as he still is without a point. Perhaps a shift in linemates will help, as he is now playing with Lee Stempniak and Alex Tanguay.

Flames' Morrison Still Without A Point

News: Brendan Morrison still is without a point scored in six games since returning from injury.
Analysis: The Flames' top line has struggled mightily to find any sort of rhythm this season, with Brendan Morrison and Jarome Iginla both not performing up to their usual standards. Morrison should get it together at some point, but keep in mind he is 36 and coming off major knee surgery.

Flames' Morrison Spends Time On Top Line

News: Brendan Morrison spent some time on the Flames' first line in their 2-0 loss to Nashville Saturday night, the Calgary Sun reports.
Analysis: The top line served Brendan Morrison well in 2010-11, as he scored 43 points. It may take Morrison, Jarome Iginla and Alex Tanguay a little while to get reacclimated, but keep an eye on Morrison's production, as he can be a decent scorer when he's on track.
