Hawks' Rozsival Makes Season Debut Saturday Night

News: Michal Rozsival, who missed the first three games of the season with an upper-body injury, made his debut Saturday night and skated a little more than 14 minutes in the Blackhawks' 2-1 win over Nashville.
Analysis: Michal Rozsival suffered the injury in training camp last month. The plus was that Rozsival blocked a shot and had a couple of hits in 16 shifts. With no word of an injury after the game, it appears that he is 100 percent.

Chicago's Rozsival Good To Go For Saturday

News: Michal Rozsival (upper body) will be available for Saturday's game against the Predators, NHL.com's Brian Hedger reports.
Analysis: It's not certain that Michal Rozsival will return to the lineup Saturday for his season debut, but the demotion of Kyle Cumiskey to AHL Rockford suggests that Rozsival is healthy. The veteran blueliner appeared in 42 games last season, posting a goal and seven assists.

Blackhawks' Rozsival Out Again Wednesday

News: Michal Rozsival (upper body) will not play in Wednesday's game against the Flames, CSN's Tracey Myers reports.
Analysis: Michal Rozsival will miss another game Wednesday, but he was able to practice both Monday and Tuesday, so it appears a return to action -- possibly this weekend -- is not far off.

Hawks Rozsival Practices

News: Michal Rozsival (upper body) practiced with the team Monday, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.
Analysis: With two more days to recover, it's probably safe to assume Michal Rozsival will be back in the lineup Wednesday against the Flames. Rozsival's return will probably leave David Rundblad as the odd man out on the blue line, as rookie Trevor van Riemsdyk has been impressive so far.

Chicago's Rozsival Out Again Saturday

News: Michal Rozsival (upper body) will not be available for Saturday's game against the Sabres, Brian Hedger of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Coach Joel Quenneville said that Michal Rozsival is targeting a return to action at some point next week. The blueliner has been skating at practice while he's been held out, so he does seem to be making visible progress.

Chicago's Rozsival Skates Wednesday

News: Michal Rozsival (upper body) skated on his own before Wednesday's practice, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Michal Rozsival has already been ruled out of Thursday's regular-season opener versus the Stars, but the Blackhawks will reevaluate him on Friday and see if he'll be able to give it a go against the Sabres over the weekend. David Rundblad will occupy Rozsival's spot on defense Thursday night.

Blackhawks' Rozsival Likely To Miss Opener

News: Michal Rozsival (upper body) is expected to miss Thursday's season opener against the Stars, Tracey Myers of CSNChicago.com reports.
Analysis: Michal Rozsival hasn't resumed skating since suffering the upper-body injury last week, meaning he may need to sit out the first game or two for the Blackhawks before he's back at full speed. Coach Joel Quenneville noted that Rozsival will not need to go on injured reserve, and with seven other healthy blue liners on the roster, the Blackhawks should be able to manage just fine without him.

Hawks' Rozsival Could Be Out A Week

News: Michal Rozsival is nursing an upper-body injury and could miss about a week.
Analysis: Michal Rozsival served primarily as a seventh defenseman for the Blackhawks last season, so the team can probably afford to get by without his services until he returns to full health. He's expected to operate in a similar capacity this season, making it tough to extract much fantasy value from him.

Hawks' Rozsival Breaks Playoff Goal Drought

News: Michal Rozsival scored his first postseason goal since the 2007-08 season on Saturday when he gave the Blackhawks a 3-2 lead against the Blues.
Analysis: At the time in the 2007-08 season, Michal Rozsival was with the New York Rangers. He's had plenty of chances, especially with the Blackhawks last season when they went on to win the Stanley Cup. Rozsival made the most of his shots on Saturday since he only had two for the game.

Blackhawks' Rozsival Not Injured

News: Michal Rozsival, who was scratched from Wednesday night's tilt with the Canadiens, is "fine" according to coach Joel Quenneville, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis: Michal Rozsival returned from a lower body injury last Friday, so there was some concern here that Wednesday's scratch may have been injury related. Quenneville dismissed this notion after the game, however, which suggests Rozsival is just getting some rest as the Blackhawks march towards the playoffs.

Blackhawks' Rozsival Out Wednesday

News: Michal Rozsival is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Canadiens, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Michal Rozsival has recently returned from a lower body injury, but it's currently unclear whether he's a healthy scratch, or the injury has something to do with it. Look for either Sheldon Brookbank or David Rundblad to replace him in the Hawks' third defensive pairing.

Blackhawks' Rozsival Returning Friday

News: Michal Rozsival will return from a lower-body injury for Friday's game against the Blackhawks, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Michal Rozsival will slot back in for the first time since March 16, presumably on the third pairing alongside Nick Leddy. With Johnny Oduya (upper body) sidelined, either Sheldon Brookbank or David Rundblad will likely skate with Niklas Hjalmarsson on the second pair.

Hawks' Rozsival Out For Thursday

News: Michal Rozsival (lower body) will not play Thursday against the Wild, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis: Michal Rozsival will sit out his ninth straight game Thursday, but didn't rule out a return to action Friday against the Blue Jackets. Expect Sheldon Brookbank to continue to be paired with Nick Leddy on the Chicago blue line in Rozsival's place until he returns.

Hawks' Rozsival Won't Travel With Team

News: Michal Rozsival (lower body) will not travel on the team's upcoming three game road trip, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.
Analysis: The blueliner has been out since March 16 with the injury, and it looks like he'll miss the next three contests as well. The team's next home game is April 3 against the Wild, so keep an eye out for an update on his status before then. Expect Sheldon Brookbank and David Rundblad to continue to fill in for Michal Rozsival along the Chicago blue line.

Hawks' Rozsival To Miss Tuesday's Game

News: Michal Rozsival (lower body) will miss his fifth straight game Tuesday against the Stars, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: It originally was thought that Michal Rozsival would only miss a short period of time, but this is dragging out to a surprising degree.

Chicago's Rozsival To Miss Next Few Games

News: Michal Rozsival (lower body) will miss the next few games, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Coach Joel Quenneville wasn't worried that Michal Rozsival's injury would be a long-term concern, but he'll likely be given the next few games off to recover. The Blackhawks will use either Sheldon Brookbank or David Rundblad to fill in for him on the third defensive pairing.

Chicago's Rozsival Dealing With Lower Body Injury

News: Michal Rozsival is dealing with a lower body injury.
Analysis: Michal Rozsival, who has seven points in 38 games to date, didn't make the trip for Tuesday's game against the Flyers, with coach Joel Quenneville suggesting that the blueliner may miss a few games.

Blackhawks' Rozsival: No Ice Time For Czechs

News: Michal Rozsival failed to log any ice time for the Czech Republic in Saturday's loss to Switzerland.
Analysis: It had to be a familiar scenario for Michal Rozsival, who has often struggled to find the ice this season for a deep Blackhawks squad. He had only six points in 33 games for Chicago before joining the Czech team in Sochi.

Hawks Scratch Rozsival Sunday

Hawks' Rozsival Scratched From Thursday's Lineup

News: Michal Rozsival, who was hit in the mouth on Sunday in the win over Edmonton, did not skate on Thursday in the Blackhawks' shootout win over the Coyotes, USA Today reports.
Analysis: Despite being hit in the mouth by a puck, Michal Rozsival had returned to practice during the week, but was also sporting a large face shield as he had stitches about a swollen upper lip on Wednesday at practice. The Hawks' defenseman was fortunate to not be hurt more and he is still day-to-day with back-to-back games this weekend at Nashville on Saturday and back home on Sunday against San Jose.

Hawks' Rozsival Appears Okay After Hit

News: Michal Rozsival (mouth) appears to be okay after taking a puck to the mouth Sunday in the third period of a win over Edmonton, Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville told ESPN Chicago.
Analysis: Michal Rozsival had a good game before getting hit, with an assist and a plus-one rating in a little less than 14 minutes of ice time. In addition, he saved a puck from going into the net in the second period. "He's going to be OK," Quenneville said. "He took it -- I think everybody saw -- in the chops there. I think he's going to be OK, but he's got some work they're doing on them."

Hawks' Rozsival (Illness) Gets Back In The Lineup

News: Michal Rozsival (Illness) was back in the lineup on Tuesday night in the Blackhawks 3-2 shootout win over the Hurricanes, Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: The Blackhawks are trying to keep Michal Rozsival healthy so they have been sitting him down pretty much every other game. Rozsival has been on the defensive third pairing with Nick Leddy. It was a mixed bag for Rozsival who had a pair of penalty minutes including one late in the third period while registering a pair of block shots and a hit.

Hawks' Rozsival (Illness) Likely Out Thursday

News: Michal Rozsival (illness) is not expected to play Thursday against the Blues, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Michal Rozsival fell under the weather and missed practice Wednesday, and it appears he won't be available against St. Louis. Sheldon Brookbank will presumably step up to fill the void along the blue line.

Rozsival Remaining With Chicago

News: Michal Rozsival re-signed with the Blackhawks on Friday, accepting a two-year contract, according to the Chicago Sun-Times' Mark Lazerus.
Analysis: This is an understated re-signing by the Blackhawks, as Michal Rozsival is an important defensive defenseman to Chicago. His impact won't show up on the scoresheet but he's a solid player.

Hawks' Rozsival Puts In Double Duty Minus Keith

News: Michal Rozsival saw his minutes increase by almost 10 minutes from Game 3 to Game 4 on Thursday against the Kings in the Western Conference final, Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis: Michal Rozsival saw his minutes go from 15:54 in Game 3 to 25:28 in Game 4. With Duncan Keith out because of a one-game suspension, Blackhawks' coach Joel Quenneville increased the minutes for all his veteran defensemen.
