Blackhawks' Rozsival To Serve As Scratch Friday

News: Michal Rozsival will serve as a healthy scratch for Friday's game against the Lightning, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun Times reports.
Analysis: Michal Rozsival will give way to Tim Erixon for the second straight night, as coach Joel Quenneville sticks with the lineup that came away with an impressive 3-0 victory over the Panthers on Thursday. Even when he's been a regular skater this season, Rozsival hasn't provided much in the way of fantasy value, as his eight points and 18 PIM would illustrate.

Blackhawks' Rozsival (Shoulder) Returns Sunday

News: Michal Rozsival (shoulder) is in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Penguins, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Michal Rozsival missed Friday's game against the Devils because of the shoulder issue, but is back in the lineup Sunday paired with Duncan Keith. Assuming he doesn't suffer a setback, he should be good to go moving forward.

Blackhawks' Rozsival Skates Saturday

News: Michal Rozsival (shoulder) skated during Saturday's practice, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: It's a good sign that Michal Rozsival might be available for Sunday's game against the Penguins, but coach Joel Quenneville has yet to make an official call on the blueliner's status. Rozsival was forced to miss Friday's win over the Devils with the injury, with AHL call-up Kyle Cumiskey replacing him on the Blackhawks' blue line.

Blackhawks' Rozsival (Shoulder) Out Friday

News: Michal Rozsival (shoulder) is out for Friday's game against the Devils, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: The injury is not thought to be serious, as Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said he hopes to have Michal Rozsival back for Sunday's game against the Penguins. With Rozsival out of the lineup Friday, Kyle Cumiskey will skate on the third defensive pairing alongside Johnny Oduya.

Blackhawks' Rozsival Dealing With Shoulder Injury

News: Michal Rozsival, who missed Friday's morning skate, was seen holding an ice pack to his left shoulder, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: If Michal Rozsival cannot play in Friday's game against the Devils, Kyle Cumiskey will likely skate on the third defensive pairing alongside Johnny Oduya.

Chicago's Rozsival Gets Assist, Goes Plus-2 Friday

News: Michal Rozsival registered a secondary assist on Brandon Saad's overtime game-winner and went plus-2 in Friday's triumph over the Jets.
Analysis: As a stay-at-home defender, it shouldn't surprise that Roszival has only attempted one shot over his last five games. Friday's assist gave Roszival just his second point in the last month, and he's still sitting on one goal for the season.

Chicago's Rozsival Back In For Winter Classic

News: Coach Joel Quenneville confirmed that Michal Rozsival (lower body) would play in Thursday's Winter Classic, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Roszival's return doesn't register a surprise after he was able to skate Tuesday and Wednesday, alleviating any concern about his health. He'll replace either Tim Erixon or David Rundblad on the Blackhawks' third defensive pairing.

Blackhawks' Rozsival Expected Back For Classic

News: Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said Michal Rozsival (lower body) will likely play in Thursday's Winter Classic against the Capitals, The Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Confirming a previous report, Michal Rozsival missed the past two games but should be ready by Thursday.

Hawks' Rozsival Out For Monday

News: Michal Rozsival (lower body) will not play Monday against the Predators, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: The blueliner is expected to be back for the Winter Classic on New Year's Day, but Tim Erixon and David Rundblad will fill in for him again Monday. Expect Michal Rozsival to get some regular breaks even when he's healthy, as the team tries to keep the veteran healthy for the postseason.

Hawks' Rozsival Will Be Game-Time Decision Monday

News: Michal Rozsival will be a game-time decision for Monday's game against the Predators, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Michal Rozsival missed Saturday's game against the Avalanche due to the lower-body injury, and his status remains up in the air Monday. If he ends up missing Monday, his next chance to return will come Thursday against the Capitals.

Blackhawks' Rozsival Out Saturday

News: Michal Rozsival (lower body) will not play Saturday against the Avalanche, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Michal Rozsival was forced out of Tuesday's game against the Jets with the injury and was unable to take part in Saturday's morning skate, indicating he's still feeling the effects of the injury. Tim Erixon will take his spot on Chicago's third defensive pairing.

Blackhawks' Rozsival Suffers Lower-Body Injury

News: Michal Rozsival suffered a lower-body injury during Tuesday's game against the Jets but it's not believed to be serious, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Despite the cheerful news after Tuesday's game, Michal Rozsival will likely be considered day-to-day until Saturday's game against the Predators. Fortunately for the 36-year-old, the Christmas break will allow him to have an extra few days of rest without potentially missing any games.

Hawks' Rozsival Makes Season Debut Saturday Night

News: Michal Rozsival, who missed the first three games of the season with an upper-body injury, made his debut Saturday night and skated a little more than 14 minutes in the Blackhawks' 2-1 win over Nashville.
Analysis: Michal Rozsival suffered the injury in training camp last month. The plus was that Rozsival blocked a shot and had a couple of hits in 16 shifts. With no word of an injury after the game, it appears that he is 100 percent.

Chicago's Rozsival Good To Go For Saturday

News: Michal Rozsival (upper body) will be available for Saturday's game against the Predators, NHL.com's Brian Hedger reports.
Analysis: It's not certain that Michal Rozsival will return to the lineup Saturday for his season debut, but the demotion of Kyle Cumiskey to AHL Rockford suggests that Rozsival is healthy. The veteran blueliner appeared in 42 games last season, posting a goal and seven assists.

Blackhawks' Rozsival Out Again Wednesday

News: Michal Rozsival (upper body) will not play in Wednesday's game against the Flames, CSN's Tracey Myers reports.
Analysis: Michal Rozsival will miss another game Wednesday, but he was able to practice both Monday and Tuesday, so it appears a return to action -- possibly this weekend -- is not far off.

Hawks Rozsival Practices

News: Michal Rozsival (upper body) practiced with the team Monday, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.
Analysis: With two more days to recover, it's probably safe to assume Michal Rozsival will be back in the lineup Wednesday against the Flames. Rozsival's return will probably leave David Rundblad as the odd man out on the blue line, as rookie Trevor van Riemsdyk has been impressive so far.

Chicago's Rozsival Out Again Saturday

News: Michal Rozsival (upper body) will not be available for Saturday's game against the Sabres, Brian Hedger of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Coach Joel Quenneville said that Michal Rozsival is targeting a return to action at some point next week. The blueliner has been skating at practice while he's been held out, so he does seem to be making visible progress.

Chicago's Rozsival Skates Wednesday

News: Michal Rozsival (upper body) skated on his own before Wednesday's practice, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Michal Rozsival has already been ruled out of Thursday's regular-season opener versus the Stars, but the Blackhawks will reevaluate him on Friday and see if he'll be able to give it a go against the Sabres over the weekend. David Rundblad will occupy Rozsival's spot on defense Thursday night.

Blackhawks' Rozsival Likely To Miss Opener

News: Michal Rozsival (upper body) is expected to miss Thursday's season opener against the Stars, Tracey Myers of CSNChicago.com reports.
Analysis: Michal Rozsival hasn't resumed skating since suffering the upper-body injury last week, meaning he may need to sit out the first game or two for the Blackhawks before he's back at full speed. Coach Joel Quenneville noted that Rozsival will not need to go on injured reserve, and with seven other healthy blue liners on the roster, the Blackhawks should be able to manage just fine without him.

Hawks' Rozsival Could Be Out A Week

News: Michal Rozsival is nursing an upper-body injury and could miss about a week.
Analysis: Michal Rozsival served primarily as a seventh defenseman for the Blackhawks last season, so the team can probably afford to get by without his services until he returns to full health. He's expected to operate in a similar capacity this season, making it tough to extract much fantasy value from him.

Hawks' Rozsival Breaks Playoff Goal Drought

News: Michal Rozsival scored his first postseason goal since the 2007-08 season on Saturday when he gave the Blackhawks a 3-2 lead against the Blues.
Analysis: At the time in the 2007-08 season, Michal Rozsival was with the New York Rangers. He's had plenty of chances, especially with the Blackhawks last season when they went on to win the Stanley Cup. Rozsival made the most of his shots on Saturday since he only had two for the game.

Blackhawks' Rozsival Not Injured

News: Michal Rozsival, who was scratched from Wednesday night's tilt with the Canadiens, is "fine" according to coach Joel Quenneville, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis: Michal Rozsival returned from a lower body injury last Friday, so there was some concern here that Wednesday's scratch may have been injury related. Quenneville dismissed this notion after the game, however, which suggests Rozsival is just getting some rest as the Blackhawks march towards the playoffs.

Blackhawks' Rozsival Out Wednesday

News: Michal Rozsival is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Canadiens, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Michal Rozsival has recently returned from a lower body injury, but it's currently unclear whether he's a healthy scratch, or the injury has something to do with it. Look for either Sheldon Brookbank or David Rundblad to replace him in the Hawks' third defensive pairing.

Blackhawks' Rozsival Returning Friday

News: Michal Rozsival will return from a lower-body injury for Friday's game against the Blackhawks, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Michal Rozsival will slot back in for the first time since March 16, presumably on the third pairing alongside Nick Leddy. With Johnny Oduya (upper body) sidelined, either Sheldon Brookbank or David Rundblad will likely skate with Niklas Hjalmarsson on the second pair.

Hawks' Rozsival Out For Thursday

News: Michal Rozsival (lower body) will not play Thursday against the Wild, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis: Michal Rozsival will sit out his ninth straight game Thursday, but didn't rule out a return to action Friday against the Blue Jackets. Expect Sheldon Brookbank to continue to be paired with Nick Leddy on the Chicago blue line in Rozsival's place until he returns.
