Theodore's Agent Refutes Potential Deal With Bruins

News: Jose Theodore's agent, Don Meehan, told The Canadian Press that there is "no truth" to the report that his client was nearing a deal with the Bruins, NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Earlier reports suggested that the 36-year-old goalie was on the verge of signing a one-year deal with the Bruins, but for now, at least, that is apparently not in the cards for Jose Theodore.

Theodore Nears Deal With Bruins

News: Jose Theodore is reportedly close to signing with the Bruins, NHL.com reports.
Analysis: His one-year deal would reportedly be worth between $800,000 and $1.1 million. Jose Theodore would give the Bruins a veteran backup option behind starter Tuukka Rask, but he'd need to beat out both Niklas Svedberg and Chad Johnson to claim that assignment.

Panthers' Theodore To Become Free Agent In July

News: Jose Theodore (groin) will become a free agent on Jul. 5, but wants to remain with the Panthers, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Jose Theodore played in 15 games this season for the Panthers. He definitely wants to re-sign with the team, but it's unsure if the team wants him back. It remains unclear whether they will move forward with rookie Jacob Markstrom, or if they will welcome Theodore back.

Panthers' Theodore (Groin) Unlikely To Play Final Two Games

News: Jose Theodore (groin) is unlikely to play in the Panthers' final two regular season games, the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Jose Theodore was seen working out on the ice during Tuesday's morning skate, but the team appears content to play it safe the rest of the way with the Panthers out of playoff contention. The 36-year-old hasn't played since March 2 after tearing two groin muscles.

Panthers' Theodore Skates Monday

News: Jose Theodore (groin) skated for the first time Monday since his injury, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: Jose Theodore hopes to return before the end of the season. With the Panthers far out of the playoff race in the Eastern Conference and only nine games remaining, the Panthers may choose to take their time with Theodore. If Theodore can practice without any setbacks in the next couple of weeks, he may get his wish to play before season's end.

Panthers' Theodore (Groin) Still 4-to-6 Weeks Away

News: Jose Theodore (groin) is not expected back for another 4-to-6 weeks, Renaud Lavoie of RDS.ca reports. The goal is to get him back in time to make two or three starts before the end of the season.
Analysis: This doesn't change Jose Theodore's timetable drastically, as he was expected to miss 5-to-6 weeks following the groin tear he suffered March 3. However, he will likely be cutting it close to return before the end of the season.

Panthers' Theodore To Miss 5-6 Weeks

News: Jose Theodore will be out 5-6 weeks with a torn right groin, the Sun Sentinel's Harvey Fialkov reports.
Analysis: The report adds that Jose Theodore will not require surgery, with Fialkov speculating that the veteran goalie may not play another game in a Panthers' uniform. In any case, the team will proceed for now with Scott Clemmensen and Jacob Markstrom in net.

Panthers' Theodore Out With Groin Injury

News: Though Jose Theodore (groin) will likely be evaluated further, TSN's Bob McKenzie indicates that the goalie could be out a minimum of six weeks.
Analysis: Unless the Panthers make a trade, Scott Clemmensen and Jacob Markstrom are in line to handle the Panthers' goaltending duties for most, if not all, of the remainder of the season.

Panthers' Theodore Out With Groin Injury

News: Renaud Lavoie of RDS reports that Jose Theodore suffered a torn right groin Saturday.

Panthers' Theodore: "Going To Be (Out) A While"

News: Jose Theodore's injury may be serious, according to the Associated Press. "It's going to be a while," Florida coach Kevin Dineen said after Saturday's game. "He was pretty sore on the ice, and it wasn't much better off (it)."
Analysis: Jose Theodore suffered through knee problems for most of the 2011-12 season and was injured on the first shot of Saturday's game when he kicked out his right pad to stop Canes' forward Jussi Jokinen on a two-on-one rush.

Panthers' Theodore Suffers Lower-Body Injury

News: Jose Theodore left Saturday's game against the Hurricanes a lower-body injury and will not return, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: The Panthers haven't yet elaborated on the exact nature or extent of the injury Jose Theodore suffered in the first period of Saturday's game. The 36-year-old goal keeper has a history of knee issues, but until more information becomes available, consider him day-to-day. Scott Clemmensen stepped in when Theodore exited, and Jacob Markstrom will likely be recalled if Theodore is forced to miss more time.

Panthers' Theodore Helped Off With Injury

News: Jose Theodore was helped off the ice with an apparent knee injury during the first period of Saturday's game against the Hurricanes, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: For a veteran netminder with a history of knee issues, it's an unfortunate development for Jose Theodore. Scott Clemmensen took over in goal for the Panthers, while Jacob Markstrom could end up getting recalled if the injury will sideline Theodore for a prolonged stretch.

Panthers Pull Theodore Tuesday

News: Jose Theodore was pulled after two periods Tuesday against Pittsburgh with the score tied 4-4 and had to watch from the bench as Scott Clemmensen led the Panthers to the win.
Analysis: A far-from-inspiring outing for Jose Theodore, who's been very blowup-prone this year, and particularly lately, surrendering an atrocious 19 goals in his last five starts. He hasn't won since Feb. 7.

Panthers Turn To Theodore Tuesday

News: Jose Theodore will start in goal Tuesday against the Penguins, according to Steve Goldstein of Florida Panthers TV.
Analysis: Jose Theodore will have his work cut out for him Tuesday, as the 13-6 Penguins boast a dangerous offense, even without Evgeni Malkin.

Panthers Start Clemmensen Over Theodore Thursday

News: Jose Theodore's teammate, Scott Clemmensen, will start Thursday's game against the Flyers, according to Steve Goldstein of Florida Panthers TV.
Analysis: Presumably either Jose Theodore or Jacob Markstrom will start Friday's game against the Penguins, but the team will turn to Clemmensen (for the fourth time to date) as a starter on Thursday.

Panthers' Theodore Expected To Start Monday

News: Jose Theodore was the first off the ice in practice and is expected to start Monday, Mark Masters of TSN Toronto reports.
Analysis: Jose Theodore will look to bounce back Monday after losing his last three starts. Theodore surrendered six goals in his last start Saturday against the Lightning, so we will see how he responds from a sub-par performance.

Panthers' Theodore Lets In Three In Loss

News: Jose Theodore gave up three goals on 33 shots in a loss to the Maple Leafs on Monday.
Analysis: While this is an improvement upon Jose Theodore's last start, wherein he let in six goals, it's the fourth loss in a row for him, and he has a sub-.900 save percentage so far. Maybe the Panthers might consider looking for another option in net.

Panthers' Theodore Starting Saturday

News: Jose Theodore will start in goal during Saturday's game against the Lightning, the Tampa Tribune's Erik Erlendsson reports.
Analysis: Jose Theodore's off to a slow start this season, but he stopped the first 31 shots he faced in his last outing before finally letting one in for a 1-0 overtime loss. Saturday brings a difficult matchup against a Tampa Bay squad that leads the NHL in scoring with 3.8 goals per game.

Panthers' Theodore Carries Shootout Into OT, Loses

News: Jose Theodore allowed one goal on 32 shots Thursday against the Canadiens, but Carey Price was one better and Rene Bourque's goal in overtime was all it took to send the Panthers to another loss.
Analysis: The Panthers have lost four times in the last five games, though Jose Theodore's only on the hook for two of those. This was one of his best starts so far in what's been a wholly unimpressive year.

Panthers' Theodore Set To Face Habs Thursday

News: Jose Theodore will start Thursday's game against the Canadiens, RDS's Renaud Lavoie reports.
Analysis: Jose Theodore, who has a 4-5 record to date with a GAA of 3.41 and save percentage of .890, will take aim Thursday against the team that drafted him back in 1994. Since the Habs dealt Theodore to Colorado in 2006, he has played for the Avs, Caps, Wild and now the Panthers.

Panthers' Theodore Yanked In Loss

News: Jose Theodore allowed five goals on 21 shots Saturday before being relieved of duty in a 5-0 loss to the Capitals.
Analysis: Florida has four wins and so does Jose Theodore. The team stinks and unfortunately, Theodore has to be near-perfect to provide fantasy value. Use at your own discretion ... or peril, depending on your perspective.

Panthers' Theodore Starting Saturday

News: Jose Theodore will start Saturday against the Capitals.
Analysis: Following a stellar performance in Thursday's 3-2 shootout win over the Flyers, Jose Theodore will be back in the net once again. His overall numbers on the season (4-4-0, 3.11 GAA) have been corrupted by the poor defensive play of those in front of him, as the Panthers have routinely been out-shot by their opponents in the early stages of the season.

Panthers' Theodore Has Solid Night

News: Jose Theodore saved 30 shots in a 3-2 shootout win over the Flyers on Thursday night.
Analysis: Jose Theodore was perfect on two attempts in the shootout. He has gotten the majority of starts for the Panthers, but remains a risky fantasy start with Florida's defense allowing 27-plus shots per game.
