Sharks' Torres Still Looking At Extended Absence

News: Coach Todd McLellan said Tuesday that Raffi Torres (knee) would be out for "well into the New Year," Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Raffi Torres is hoping to increase his activity soon, but he faces an arduous road to recovery after having his ACL removed in October to address multiple infections. He probably won't be counted on as an option for the Sharks on their bottom-six until late in the second half.

Sharks' Torres Could Skate Soon

News: Raffi Torres (knee) hopes to begin skating in the next week or so, CSNBayArea.com's Kevin Kurz reports.
Analysis: Raffi Torres rejoined the team last Monday in preparation for the next stage of his rehab for the removal of the ACL in his right knee. The tough winger has been limited to just 12 NHL games over the last 17 months due to knee issues, but still hopes to make an impact for the Sharks in the second half of the 2014-15 season.

Sharks' Torres Takes The Ice

News: Raffi Torres (knee) skated Friday morning, David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: It was the first time Raffi Torres has been on the ice since August, when it was determined he would need to undergo another surgery to repair his ACL. This is just a preliminary step in the recovery process, so he shouldn't be considered close to returning.

Sharks' Torres Will Avoid Second ACL Surgery

News: Raffi Torres (knee) will not require a second operation on his torn ACL, David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: It's a fortunate bit of news for Raffi Torres, and while he's now in line to return earlier than originally anticipated, he's still looking at a lengthy recover timetable. Rather than opting for surgery, Torres will instead work on strengthening the muscles around the injured right knee, a process that will likely last two months or longer. Torres will train in his native Toronto before visiting the Sharks staff for a checkup at some point in November or December.

Sharks Place Torres On LTIR

News: Raffi Torres (knee) was placed on long-term injured reserve Tuesday, David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: The roster move was fully expected after Raffi Torres underwent surgery to repair his ACL in September. He's expected to miss the entirety of the first half due to the injury, but the Sharks will hope he can return over the final two months of the season to offer an intimidating presence in their bottom six.

Sharks' Torres Delaying Knee Surgery A Few Weeks

News: Raffi Torres has yet to undergo knee surgery to repair the ACL in his right knee, Kevin Kurz of CSNBayArea.com reports.
Analysis: Raffi Torres is still slated to undergo the procedure at some point in the next couple weeks, and figures to miss at least half of the 2014-15 campaign as a result. The checking-line enforcer battled multiple infections in the knee upon returning from September knee surgery late in 2013-14, limiting him to just five regular-season contests. The 33-year-old's historically shaky track record in the health department will make it difficult to count on him for much reliable production this season.

Sharks' Torres To Miss Months With Knee Infection

News: Raffi Torres suffered an infection in his surgically-repaired right knee and is expected to miss the first few months of the season while he undergoes another operation on the knee, David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Raffi Torres was limited to just five regular-season contests in 2013-14 after undergoing knee surgery and suffering a subsequent setback shortly after returning after the Olympics. He would ultimately rejoin the Sharks during the postseason and looked to be healthy heading into the upcoming campaign, but it seems the infection surfaced at some point over the summer. For the second straight season, he'll open on injured reserve as a result, with no concrete date for his return. Torres has been a useful player for the Sharks when he's been on the ice, but with two years still remaining on his contract, his durability concerns might dampen the remainder of his tenure with his team.

Sharks' Torres Proves Value In Limited Time

News: Raffi Torres assisted on the Sharks' lone goal Monday, adding 12 penalty minutes and a plus-1 rating in a loss to the Kings.
Analysis: Raffi Torres only played 8:24 on Monday -- not far off from his series average of 9:30 -- but he continues to prove his value in limited time. The veteran winger has two goals, an assist, three blocked shots and 24 hits in six games.

Sharks' Torres Scores Again

News: Raffi Torres scored another goal Sunday, kickstarting a seven-goal rally in a Game 2 win over the Kings.
Analysis: Raffi Torres, who has played seven games this season, has been incredible, netting five goals and two assists in very limited time. It'd be tough to find someone who won't say that Torres should regress to the mean — after all, his shooting percentage in this series is 100 percent — but analysts have been saying that he'll regress since his first game back from injury this season. Bottom line: He's hot right now.

Torres To Play For Sharks In Game 2

News: There wasn't much question if he'd play two straight, but it's now confirmed that Raffi Torres will play for the Sharks in Game 2, according to David Pollak of the Mercury News.
Analysis: Raffi Torres scored the game-winner in Game 1, his return after some knee soreness. He's barely played this season, but when he has, he's been excellent. The only thing to be wary of is his playing time. The Sharks are being cautious with his knee. They expect a long playoff run and want Torres healthy throughout. With Torres getting under ten minutes per game, it may be hard for him to keep up the productivity we've seen thus far.

Sharks' Torres Scores In Return

News: Raffi Torres (knee soreness) scored the game-winning goal in his return to the ice for Thursday's Game 1 against the Kings.
Analysis: It was hardly a climactic game-winner, as it gave the Sharks a 4-0 lead in a game they would ultimately win 6-3. Raffi Torres was also quite active defensively, logging a team-high seven hits in his 8:42 of ice time.

Sharks' Torres Will Play In Game 1

News: Raffi Torres (knee soreness) will play in Thursday's Game 1 against the Kings, Kevin Kurz of CSNBayArea.com reports.
Analysis: After missing the first five months of the regular season following knee surgery, Raffi Torres only played in five games out of the Olympic break before soreness in the knee resurfaced. After taking the rest of the regular season to rest up, he increased his activity this week and looks set to play on the fourth line Thursday.

No Decision On Sharks' Torres Yet

News: Raffi Torres will be a game-time decision for Game 1 of the Sharks' series with the Kings, according to David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News.
Analysis: Raffi Torres said he was feeling better at Tuesday's practice, but neither he or coach Todd McLellan would tip their hand on his status for Thursday's game.

SJ's Torres Could Be Ready For Playoffs

News: Raffi Torres, who has been out with soreness in a surgically repaired knee since March 8, could be ready to go for Game 1 against the Kings, according to the Mercury News.
Analysis: This would be big for the Sharks, who could use the size against a tough LA team. Raffi Torres played five games total this season and was strong in them, totaling three goals and two assists on very limited playing time. If healthy, he could be a big factor in round 1.

Coyotes' Torres Will Not Play Saturday

News: Raffi Torres (soreness) will not play in Saturday's game against the Predators, David Pollak of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Raffi Torres will sit out again as he deals with lingering soreness, which is believed to be primarily in his knee. While Torres will sit out Saturday, he could return to action next Wednesday against the Ducks.

Sharks' Torres Out Tuesday

News: Raffi Torres (soreness) will again be out of the lineup as the Sharks take on the Oilers on Tuesday, according to Curtis Pashelka of the Mercury News.
Analysis: This will be the 12th straight game Raffi Torres has missed after returning from his ACL injury after the Olympic break. It seems clear now that he returned too soon and that another return remains up in the air. The team isn't speculating on when he'll be back in the lineup.

Torres Still Out For Sharks

News: Raffi Torres (soreness) will sit again on Saturday with the Capitals in town, according to the Mercury News.
Analysis: After playing five of six games after the break, Raffi Torres has sat out the last seven. He's denying that he returned too soon after tearing his ACL, but he's still experiencing "general soreness." He hopes to return for a couple of games prior to the playoffs, which can be read this way for fantasy owners: It's probably time to scour the waiver wire.

Sharks Rule Torres Out Indefinitely

News: Raffi Torres (knee) is being viewed as out indefintely, CSN Bay Area's Kevin Kurz reports.
Analysis: After playing in five games following a return from ACL surgery, Raffi Torres will now miss his sixth straight game Thursday and isn't certain when he might rejoin the lineup. The forward denied that he's experiencing a setback in his recovery, but rather, persistent soreness that has compromised his style of play. It's probably worthwhile for fantasy owners to let him go on the waiver wire until a return looks more imminent.

SJ's Torres Likely Out Tuesday

News: Based on morning skate, it appears that Raffi Torres will be out of the lineup once again on Tuesday, according to Kevin Kurz of CSN.
Analysis: Raffi Torres continues to have some lingering soreness from the ACL injury that has kept him sidelined most of the season. The team doesn't want to push him too hard as they'll need his grit in the playoffs. Though it's not clear whether he's had a setback or they're being extra cautious. Either way, keep an eye on his status if you're keeping him on your team. It could change on a dime.

Sharks' Torres Not Ready

News: Though Raffi Torres (general soreness) participated in warm-ups Sunday, he was scratched from the Sharks' contest against the Rangers.
Analysis: Raffi Torres last suited up for the Sharks on March 8, but his participation in warmups Sunday suggests that he has a shot to suit up Tuesday against the Panthers.

Sharks' Torres Out Again Friday

News: Raffi Torres (general soreness) will not play Friday vs. the Islanders, David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Though Raffi Torres will miss his third straight game, coach Todd McLellan said he expected the forward to make his return to the lineup Sunday vs. the Rangers. Tyler Kennedy will fill in for Torres on Friday.

Sharks' Torres Likely To Sit Again Thursday

News: Raffi Torres (general soreness) is not likely to play Thursday vs. the Blue Jackets, David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Raffi Torres didn't take part in line rushes during morning skate as he continues to deal with some soreness after his first few games coming back from knee surgery. Coach Todd McLellan said the soreness wasn't unexpected, and added that Torres could receive rest on occasion to aid his recovery. There's a good chance he'll still be available for Friday's game vs. the Islanders.

Sharks' Torres A Game-Time Decision Tuesday

News: Raffi Torres (general soreness) is a game-time decision for Tuesday's contest vs. the Maple Leafs, CSNBayArea.com's Kevin Kurz reports.
Analysis: Raffi Torres did not take part in Tuesday's morning skate with coach Todd McLellan stating that the forward was "a little bit sore." McLellan said the injury didn't really stem entirely from his knee surgery earlier this season, but it doesn't sound like he would miss action beyond Tuesday if he does indeed sit out vs. Toronto.

News: Raffi Torres (general soreness) is not in the Sharks' lineup on Tuesday night, the Toronto Sun reports

SJ's Torres Finds Physicality, Keeps Scoring

News: Raffi Torres had an assist and seven minutes in penalties in Saturday's shutout of the Canadiens.
Analysis: Raffi Torres has found his physical game over the last two games. He got into a fight on Saturday and was a big reason for Thursday's come from behind win. His minutes are still low at just 10:22 on average, but that will rise. The surprise has been his continued offensive contributions. He has three goals and two assists through five games this season.
