Habs' Allen Over Flu

News: Bryan Allen has recovered from the flu and resumed skating Monday, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Analysis: Bryan Allen skated on the fourth defensive pairing during practice, suggesting he will not be active for Tuesday night's game against the Hurricanes. Until coach Michel Therrien plans on using Allen in his lineup, look for him to remain on IR.

Habs Place Allen On IR

News: Bryan Allen (illness) was placed on injured reserve Monday.
Analysis: Bryan Allen had been a healthy scratch over the Habs' previous two games, so the move to IR won't do much to change his situation. He'll be eligible for activation ahead of Friday's game versus the Kings.

Canadiens' Allen Makes Debut

News: Bryan Allen made his Montreal debut in Saturday night's win over Boston. He rotated on the third defensive pairing, playing a total of 14:30 in the win.
Analysis: Head coach Michel Therrien has been dressing seven defensemen of late, which has resulted in fewer than normal minutes for all of the blue-liners. That's something that can pay dividends over the long haul for older rear-guards like Sergei Gonchar (17:28) and Anrei Markov (18:44).

Habs Acquire Allen From Ducks

News: Bryan Allen was traded to the Canadiens on Thursday in exchange for forward Rene Bourque.
Analysis: Bryan Allen becomes the second addition the Habs have made to their blue line in the last two weeks, after the team acquired Sergei Gonchar from the Stars via trade Nov. 11. The 34-year-old, who appeared in six games with the Ducks, doesn't have much offensive ability in his arsenal, but he's been quite reliable in his own zone over his career. He's in the final season of a three-year, $10.5 million contract, so he'll just amount to a rental player for the Habs.

Ducks Activate Allen

News: Bryan Allen (lower body) was activated from injured reserve Friday.
Analysis: The move verifies that Bryan Allen will return to the lineup Friday against the Coyotes, as was expected after he practiced fully Thursday. The blueliner contributed 10 points to go along with a plus-20 rating over 68 games last season.

Ducks' Allen (Lower Body) Remaining On IR

News: Bryan Allen (lower body) has returned from his conditioning assignment at AHL Norfolk, but he'll remain on Injured Reserve for the time being.

Ducks Send Allen On Conditioning Stint

News: Bryan Allen (lower body) was sent to AHL Norfolk on a conditioning assignment, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Bryan Allen will be able to stay with Norfolk for as long as three games or six days before the Ducks would have to recall him. Once that happens, he's more than likely be plugged into the lineup on a regular basis.

Ducks' Allen (Lower Body) Able To Practice Monday

News: Bryan Allen (lower body) was able to participate in practice Monday, Kyle Shohara of AnaheimDucks.com reports.
Analysis: Bryan Allen has been unable to play in any regular season games with an unspecified injury to his lower body. The 34-year-old mentioned after Monday's practice that he prefers to err on the side of caution in lieu of rushing back to the ice as quick as possible. Because of this, it's still undetermined when Allen will be able to play in his first game of the new season.

Ducks' Allen Placed On IR

News: Bryan Allen (lower body) has been placed on injured reserve.
Analysis: Bryan Allen hasn't played in any of the Ducks' three games and wasn't set to return anytime soon, resulting in his movement to IR. His removal from the 23-man roster will allow the Ducks to call up a forward from the minors while Patrick Maroon (knee) remains day-to-day.

Ducks' Allen (Lower Body) Doubtful For Thursday

News: Bryan Allen (lower body) is considered doubtful for Thursday's game against the Penguins, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Analysis: The 13-year veteran appears likely to miss the regular season opener with the unspecified lower-body ailment, and his status beyond Thursday is uncertain. Fortunately, the Ducks decided to keep eight defenseman out of camp, so they'll have more than enough depth to make up for Bryan Allen's absence against Pittsburgh.

Analysis: The Ducks are just calling Bryan Allen day-to-day for now, putting his status in question for Thursday's season opener against the Penguins. The 34-year-old blue liner suited up for 68 games last season for the Ducks, supplying 121 hits, 118 blocks and a plus-20 rating.

News: Bryan Allen scored the opening goal during the first period of a 4-2 loss in Dallas in the Game 4 of the Stanley cup playoffs on Wednesday.

Ducks' Allen Raking In PIM

News: Bryan Allen amassed 17 penalty minutes in his last seven games before the Olympics.
Analysis: Bryan Allen has spread the penalty minutes out relatively evenly over the seven-game stretch, earning two or more minutes in the sin bin in six of those contests. Those contributions have helped mask the fact that the defenseman hasn't provided a point since Dec. 21.

Ducks' Allen Returns To Action

News: Bryan Allen (lower body) returned from injured reserve Friday against the Blackhawks.

Ducks' Allen Back At Practice Tuesday

News: Bryan Allen (lower body) was back skating during Tuesday's practice, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: After taking Monday off, Bryan Allen was rather active during Tuesday's session and would seem to be nearing a return. It's doesn't sound like he's a lineup consideration for Wednesday's game against the Ducks, but coach Bruce Boudreau said the defenseman should be ready to go by the weekend.

Ducks Place Allen On IR

News: Bryan Allen (lower body) was moved to injured reserve Tuesday.
Analysis: News about Bryan Allen's injury first surfaced when he was absent during morning skate, and although the details surrounding the injury are unknown, it's apparently severe enough to sideline the defenseman for at least a week. Expect further clarity on his situation to emerge in the coming days. Nolan Yonkman was called up from AHL Norfolk to take Allen's spot on the active roster.

Ducks' Allen To Sit Out Tuesday

News: Bryan Allen will miss Tuesday's game with an undisclosed injury, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Coach Bruce Boudreau didn't shed much light on the defenseman's injury, but it looks like he'll be scratched nonetheless after failing to take part in morning skate. The Ducks have quality depth on the blue line and should be able to survive just fine with Mark Fistric entering the lineup in place of Bryan Allen.

Ducks' Allen Returns To Action Tuesday

News: Bryan Allen returned to the ice Tuesday against the Kings, skating 20:21 in the overtime loss.
Analysis: Playing in his first game since Nov. 23, Bryan Allen contributed two hits and four blocks but wasn't much of a factor on the offensive end. Now fully convinced Allen is healthy, the Ducks demoted Noah Yonkman to AHL Norfolk on Wednesday.

News: Bryan Allen (lower body) will be a game-time decision for Tuesday's game against the Kings, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Bryan Allen has not played since suffering a lower-body injury Nov. 23, but he could potentially suit up Tuesday after getting some skating in Monday. Even if Allen is unable to go Tuesday, it appears his return is not far off.

Ducks' Allen Out For Friday

News: Bryan Allen (lower body) will not play Friday vs. the Flames, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Analysis: Bryan Allen failed to practice Thursday and won't be certain to play until he does. If this injury continues to linger into next week, it would seem likely that he'd land on injured reserve so the Ducks can bring a fresh body up from the minors.
