Game-Winning Goal, Assist For Wild's Brodin

News: Jonas Brodin scored a goal -- his third of the season and the game-winner -- and added an assist in Saturday's 6-3 triumph over the visiting Blues.
Analysis: A fine performance from the 21-year-old Swede, who has had his fair share of issues finding the scoresheet this year with just 16 points in 61 games. Jonas Brodin is a former first round pick (2011, 10th overall) with a ton of pedigree, and figures to break out offensively at some point down the road -- just not this season.

Wild's Brodin Compiles Two Assists

News: Jonas Brodin collected two assists in 24:47 of ice time in Sunday's loss to Colorado.
Analysis: Jonas Brodin now has two goals, 14 points and a plus-19 rating in 55 games on the season. While the 21-year-old isn't shooting much, he's averaging 24:31 of ice time and has racked up seven assists in his last 11 outings. Paired with Ryan Suter, Brodin makes for a solid and steady fantasy option in deeper formats.

Wild's Brodin: Four-Game Assist Streak

News: Jonas Brodin picked up a power-play assist in Sunday's win over the Stars.
Analysis: He's currently sitting on a season-high four-game assists streak, after putting up only seven points in his first 44 contests. The 21-year-old could eventually be an annual 40-point threat, but it's still probably too early to buy into him sustaining his current scoring run.

Wild's Brodin Collects Assist In Win

News: Jonas Brodin picked up an assist in Monday's 5-3 win over the Canucks.
Analysis: Jonas Brodin's assist was of the secondary variety, coming on Kyle Brodziak's one-timer with 12 minutes remaining in the second period. The top-pairing defenseman hasn't had the breakout some were banking on in his age-21 season, accumulating only seven points in 41 games to date.

Wild's Brodin Active In Loss

News: Jonas Brodin netted a goal, attempted four shots and blocked five on the defensive end in Tuesday's 7-2 loss to the Penguins.
Analysis: Jonas Brodin was one of only two Wild players to finish on the positive side of the plus/minus ledger (plus-1) in the blowout loss. He's been unusually active offensively over the last two games, attempting a total of nine shots, but we'll have to see it continue over a longer stretch of action before buying into it completely. He still has just six points in 31 games on the season.

Wild's Brodin To Play Friday

News: Jonas Brodin (upper body) will play Friday against the Maple Leafs, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Jonas Brodin was a full participant in the Wild's morning skate, rejoining Ryan Suter on the team's top defensive pairing. He missed the previous two games while recovering from a collision into the boards over the past weekend.

Wild's Brodin (Upper Body) Skates Thursday

News: Jonas Brodin (upper body) took part in Thursday's optional skate.
Analysis: Jonas Brodin's presence at Thursday's skate is a likely indication that he'll play Friday against the Maple Leafs after missing a pair of games.

Wild's Brodin (Upper Body) Likely To Play Friday

News: Jonas Brodin (upper body) is considered likely to play Friday against the Maple Leafs, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Jonas Brodin will be held out of his second straight contest Wednesday in Columbus, but he's shown enough progress in his recovery to resume practicing Thursday. Assuming all goes well during that on-ice session, he'll be cleared to return to the lineup for the Wild's next match.

Wild's Brodin (Upper Body) Won't Play Wednesday

News: Jonas Brodin (upper body) will not travel to Columbus for Wednesday's game, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: GM Chuck Fletcher said that while Jonas Brodin reported improvement with his condition Tuesday, the team doesn't want to risk a setback by flying him to Columbus and having him play at less-than-optimal health. On a positive note, it at least appears the Wild are considering him day-to-day rather than out indefinitely while he recovers from the injury.

Wild's Brodin Could Return Wednesday

News: Jonas Brodin (upper body) was feeling better Monday and could travel with the team to Columbus for Wednesday's game, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Jonas Brodin was hurt in Saturday's loss to Winnipeg and said to be out indefinitely, but it sounds like his ailment may not be serious.

Wild's Brodin Out With Upper Body Injury

News: Jonas Brodin left Saturday's loss to Winnipeg with a upper body injury. He'll miss Monday's game and head coach Mike Yeo said he's out indefinitely, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Jonas Brodin took a hard hit during the game and did not return for the third period and overtime. It's not clear where exactly he got hurt.

Wild's Brodin A Workhorse In Loss

News: Jonas Brodin scored a goal, added an assist, had two shots on goal, was a plus-2, and logged a game-high 28:39 of ice in Friday's loss to Anaheim.
Analysis: What a monster outing from Jonas Brodin, who stepped up big time with Ryan Suter (mumps) out of the lineup. While Brodin has been solid defensively this season, his offense has taken a hit, as he has produced just four points (one goal) in 16 games on the year. While he's still only 21-years old, Brodin is more likely to post another 20-point season instead of climbing into the 30-40 point range. With a plus-11 rating on the season, Brodin is counted on as a reliable minute muncher in Minnesota.

Wild's Brodin Returns From Illness

News: Jonas Brodin (illness) had one shot on goal and was plus-2 in 22:38 of ice time in Friday's win over Dallas.
Analysis: He missed the previous seven games while dealing with the mumps virus. It looks like he's back to full strength and should log heavy minutes on the blue line.

Wild's Brodin Says He'll Play Saturday

News: Jonas Brodin (illness) said he would play Friday against the Stars after taking part in the team's morning skate, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: The Wild will activate Jonas Brodin from IR after he missed the previous seven games while dealing with the mumps virus. The defenseman needed more than a week to recover from the illness, which resulted in severe fever and exhaustion. He's been skating since Wednesday and appears to be back at full strength, which should enable him to reclaim a top-four role on defense immediately upon returning.

Wild's Brodin Skates Wednesday Morning

News: Jonas Brodin (illness) skated Wednesday morning, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Jonas Brodin's return to the ice could put him on track to return Friday against the Stars, but he'll need to demonstrate that he's at full strength before that determination is reached. The blueliner was moved to IR back on Nov. 16 after he contracted a viral infection.

Wild's Brodin (Illness) Won't Travel To Philly

News: Jonas Brodin (illness) won't travel with the team to Philadelphia on Thursday, Andy Greder of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Jonas Brodin is dealing with the mumps, an illness that can persist for an extended period of time. He was placed on injured reserve Sunday, but would be eligible to return Thursday against the Flyers. Brodin doesn't have a clear timetable, so Keith Ballard and Matt Dumba will likely continue to dress until he returns.

Wild Places Brodin (Illness) On Injured Reserve

News: Jonas Brodin (illness) was placed on injured reserve Sunday.
Analysis: Jonas Brodin's move to injured reserve comes on the heels of Zach Parise's activation from injured reserve. Brodin's placement on IR is retroactive to Nov. 11, meaning he could be activated as soon as Thursday's game against the Flyers. It's believed he is dealing with the mumps virus, leaving his return date suspect.

Wild's Brodin (Illness) Not Traveling With Team

News: Jonas Brodin (illness) will not travel with the Wild to Dallas for Saturday's game, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Both Jonas Brodin and Marco Scandella are believed to be dealing with the mumps virus and will be kept away from the team until their symptoms begin to dissipate. The illness is believed to have afflicted Keith Ballard and Christian Folin earlier this season, costing them eight and five games, respectively. Brodin could be looking at a similar length of absence, which may force the Wild to place him on injured reserve in order to bring up some blue-line reinforcements from the minors.

Wild's Brodin The Latest To Fall Ill

News: Jonas Brodin will miss Thursday's game against the Sabres with an illness, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Jonas Brodin and Marco Scandella are both experiencing the same glandular swelling that blueliner Keith Ballard had earlier this season, suggesting both could have cases of the mumps. The illness appears to be linked to the team's trip earlier this season to Anaheim, as both the Wild and Blues had several players feeling sick a few days after traveling there for games, while the Ducks' own Corey Perry and Francois Beauchemin are currently recovering from the viral infection as well. Ballard was forced to miss several games and required an IR stint as a result of his illness, and it's certainly possible that Brodin and Scandella could be looking at extended absences as well. Both will retain the day-to-day tag for now while the Wild monitor their condition.

Wild's Brodin Plays Invisible Man

News: Despite skating the most shifts (36) of anyone in Tuesday's loss to the Devils, Jonas Brodin did not register in the box score at all.
Analysis: That's right -- despite more than 27 minutes of total ice time, with 2:54 of that on the power play, Jonas Brodin had no points, no shots, no hits, no blocks, no PIM, no giveaways, no takeaways... nothing. He's not a big-time racker of stats, but that's just a little ridiculous.

Wild's Brodin Will Play Saturday

News: Jonas Brodin (hand) will play in Saturday's game against the Stars, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Jonas Brodin took warmups prior to Saturday's game, and apparently his hand is feeling well enough for him to play. Jonathan Blum will sit out so Brodin can enter the lineup.

Wild's Brodin A Game-Time Decision

News: Jonas Brodin (hand) will take warm-ups Saturday before deciding whether or not he'll play against Stars, Chad Graff of the Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Jonas Brodin will test out his hand Saturday night during warm-ups, and should be considered a game-time decision. We probably won't know whether he's in the lineup or not until the game actually starts, so he's a risky option for fantasy owners still setting lineups.

Wild's Brodin Looks Cleared To Play Saturday

News: Jonas Brodin (general soreness) appears set to play Saturday against the Stars, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: Although neither general manager Chuck Fletcher nor coach Mike Yeo was willing to confirm Jonas Brodin's return to the lineup, it appears that will be the case after the defenseman made it through Friday's practice and Saturday's morning skate with no apparent setbacks. Yeo officially termed Brodin as a game-time decision, but unless he's bothered by his injury during warmups, it's fully expected that he'll play his usual 20-plus minutes on the blue line. Matthew Dumba is expected to be a healthy scratch if Brodin indeed plays.

Wild's Brodin No Sure Thing To Play Saturday

News: GM Chuck Fletcher said Jonas Brodin (general soreness) could remain out Saturday against the Stars, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Analysis: Jonas Brodin's participation in practice Friday seemed to suggest that he'd be safe to play Saturday, but with the team returning Christian Folin (illness) from IR in addition to calling up Jonathon Blum, there might not be a need for the team to rush Brodin back into the lineup. The Wild will probably check in on how Brodin is feeling prior to Saturday's game before making a decision on his status.

Wild's Brodin Practices Friday

News: Jonas Brodin (general soreness) took part in practice Friday, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Analysis: This would seem to provide optimism about his chances of playing Saturday against the Stars. His status likely won't be officially known until after the Wild conclude their morning skate that day.
