News:Mike Fisher (hand) will play in the Predators' final two games of the season, Joshua Cooper of the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: The Preds have already been eliminated from playoff contention, but Mike Fisher will look to add to his point total of 19 Thursday against the Red Wings, and Saturday against the Blue Jackets.
News:Mike Fisher (hand) is out for Tuesday's game against the Flames, The Tennessean reports.
Analysis:Mike Fisher injured his hand March 25 against the Coyotes and has been out since April 7. Despite the long absence, he is still considered day-to-day.
News:Mike Fisher (hand) skated with the team Monday, Joshua Cooper of the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: The center hasn't played since apparently reinjuring his hand on April 6 against the Blackhawks, but could be in the lineup Tuesday night when the Preds take on Flames. Mike Fisher has recorded 19 points and a plus-5 rating in 36 games this season.
News:Mike Fisher (hand) is expected to skate on his own Wednesday, The Tennessean reports.
Analysis:Mike Fisher, who has 19 points in 36 games this season, will likely ease back into playing action, as the Predators are out of contention for the playoffs.
News:Mike Fisher (hand) will miss at least the next two games, The Tennessean reports.
Analysis:Mike Fisher was able to return from the hand injury and play against the Blackhawks on April 6, but now it looks like the injury may be too serious for Fisher to play through. The Preds are still five points out of a playoff spot, and with only seven games remaining, it doesn't make too much sense for Fisher to rush back and play hurt.
News:Mike Fisher (hand) did not make the trip to Chicago for Sunday's game, Joshua Cooper of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis:Mike Fisher will sit out Sunday's game against the Blackhawks and will be replaced in the lineup by Austin Watson, who was called up by the team Sunday.
News:Mike Fisher, who had missed three games with a hand injury, was able to return for Thursday's loss to the Blue Jackets. He skated for 16:37 and didn't factor in on the Preds' only goal.
Analysis:Mike Fisher has a modest 19 points this season, but he's actually the team's third-leading goal scorer with nine. His hand issue appears to be out of the way, but he remains more of an all-around guy rather than a forward who's going to save your scoring issues.
News:Mike Fisher (hand) calls himself a game-time decision for Thursday's game against the Blue Jackets, John Glennon of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis:Mike Fisher acknowledges that he is not 100 percent, but so far he is not ruled out for Thursday's contest. Fisher has now missed three straight games with his hand injury.
News:Mike Fisher (hand) won't play Monday against Chicago, reports the Tennessean's Josh Cooper.
Analysis:Mike Fisher, who missed Saturday's game against the Avs as well, was in the midst of an eight-game point scoring streak prior to suffering his hand injury this past Thursday.
News:Mike Fisher (hand) is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Blackhawks, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis:Mike Fisher initially sustained the hand injury in Thursday's game against the Coyotes and missed Saturday's game against the Avalanche. Continue to consider him day-to-day for the time being.
News:Mike Fisher (upper body) was scratched Saturday after suffering an injury in Thursday's loss to the Coyotes, reports the Associated Press.
Analysis: He's considered day-to-day after taking a puck off the hand Thursday. He should return soon. Re-activate him when you see his name in the box score.
News:Mike Fisher avoided serious injury after blocking a shot with his hand during Thursday's loss to Phoenix, but is questionable for Friday's game against Colorado, reports the Tennessean. X-rays on Thursday were inconclusive, but it's believed Fisher's hand is not broken and that he won't miss much time.
Analysis: "I don't think it will be too long," coach Barry Trotz said of how long Mike Fisher could be out. "If he's in [Saturday], great. If he's not, then I'm looking for Chicago [on Monday]. He's making the trip and he wouldn't make the trip if there was no chance of him playing." Go with a healthy option on Saturday but check back prior to Monday's game just in case Fisher gets the green light to play against the Blackhawks.
News:Mike Fisher grabbed two assists in Friday's win over Edmonton, snapping a three-game points drought.
Analysis:Mike Fisher has been quiet this season with 10 points and just one in the previous seven games prior to Friday. Fisher's numbers are a bit down on the season, but he's worth more on the ice to Nashville than to most fantasy rosters.
News:Mike Fisher replaced David Legwand on the first line during Friday's practice, reports the Tennessean.
Analysis:Mike Fisher had just six points (3G, 3A) in 14 games during the month of February and just eight points on the season thus far, so hopefully a pair of new linemates in Colin Wilson and Martin Erat will help him break out of his slump.
News:Mike Fisher recorded a goal and an assist during Monday's 6-5 loss to Colorado, giving him six points (3G, 3A) in 16 games so far this season.
Analysis: It's been a slow start for Mike Fisher thus far, but he's showing signs that he might be turning the corner. He certainly hasn't lost the confidence of his coach, Barry Trotz, who regularly gives him over 20 minutes of ice time per game with plenty of time on the power play. As long as those numbers continue, keep plugging Fisher into your fantasy lineups, and the points should follow.
News:Mike Fisher scored just his second goal and fourth point of the season Thursday against Phoenix. Furthermore, his ice time dipped from the 20-22 minute level to just 17:06 during that game.
Analysis: Fantasy owners are used to seeing Mike Fisher center the team's first line; however that assignment currently belongs to David Legwand, with Fisher anchoring the second line between Sergei Kostitsyn and Gabriel Bourque. With 51 points in 72 games last season - just two points off his career high - some sort of rebound should be expected. Monitor closely.
News:Mike Fisher was centering the Preds' first line in practice Friday, and could remain there for Saturday's game against Anaheim, reports the Tennessean.
Analysis: Coach Barry Trotz has been relying heavily on Mike Fisher thus far this season, routinely playing him more than 20 minutes per game. If he can stick on the first line with Colin Wilson and Martin Erat, expect similar amounts of ice time over the foreseeable future.
News:Mike Fisher signed a two-year, $8.4 million contract with the Predators on Monday, James Mirtle of the Globe & Mail reports.
Analysis:Mike Fisher recorded 51 points (24G, 27A) and a plus-11 ratio in 72 regular season games last season, and added four points (1G, 3A) in the postseason. It's clear the team was high enough on him to bring him back for two more seasons.
News:Mike Fisher notched his 20th goal of the season during Thursday's 4-2 win over Colorado, the fifth time he's hit the 20-goal mark in the past seven seasons.
Analysis: With 41 points in 58 games, Mike Fisher has a good chance of matching his career-high of 53 points, scored two seasons ago with Ottawa. He has really rediscovered his scoring touch this season and remains a key cog in the Preds' offense, centering the team's first line in between Sergei Kostitsyn and Martin Erat. Keep him rolling.
News:Mike Fisher scored a goal and assisted on Nashville's other two scores in Tuesday's 3-1 win over Vancouver.
Analysis: He missed a game with the flu, but didn't miss a beat upon his return, skating 18:46 and putting six shots on goal. Mike Fisher hadn't put up a three-point night since back on Oct. 27, his second game of the season.
News:Mike Fisher (flu) is expected to play Tuesday against Vancouver, reports the Tennessean.
Analysis:Mike Fisher has been red-hot since the start of January with 19 points in 20 games, and deserves a spot on your fantasy roster. Make room for him if you haven't already.
News:Mike Fisher missed Sunday's 3-2 win over Dallas with the flu, reports the Tennessean's Josh Cooper.
Analysis:Mike Fisher apparently caught the bug following Friday's loss to Detroit, but either way it doesn't sound like something that will keep him out for long. Check back for Fisher's status prior to Tuesday's game against the Canucks.
News:Mike Fisher missed Sunday's 3-2 win over Dallas due to an unspecified illness, reports the Tennessean.
Analysis: There is no word yet on the nature or extent of the injury. Consider him day-to-day for now.
News:Mike Fisher has 17 points (9G, 8A) in 17 games since the start of January.
Analysis:Mike Fisher has rebounded smartly from a very slow start to the season when he was still hindered by the effects of offseason shoulder surgery. He makes for a great fantasy play right now, centering the Preds' top line between Martin Erat and Sergei Kostitsyn.
News:Mike Fisher lit the lamp twice Monday against Columbus, including the game-winner.
Analysis:Mike Fisher now has 11 goals and 27 points in 41 games. Nashville's offense isn't very good, so trying to use any of their forwards has some risk to it.
News:Mike Fisher notched his ninth goal of the season in Thursday's win over Columbus, his second tally in four games.
Analysis:Mike Fisher is one of Nashville's more versatile players and is usually tasked with shutting down the opposition than carrying the team's attack. That said, Fisher is a stronger offensive player than he has shown the league this season.
News:Mike Fisher has just a goal and two assists in his last 12 games.
Analysis: Needless to say, much more was expected of Mike Fisher who was originally brought in as a top-six forward last season. He continues to see heavy ice time each game, averaging almost 20 minutes per night on the Preds' top line with Patric Hornqvist and Sergei Kostitsyn, but he's really more suited to a second- or third-line role. Fantasy-wise, don't get your hopes up for much more than 30 points from Fisher this season.
News:Mike Fisher, who had surgery during the offseason, is working on a strengthening and conditioning program for his shoulder, reports the Tennessean.
Analysis: On Thursday against Columbus, Mike Fisher continued to show how well his shoulder is holding up. He scored the Preds' first goal, then won two faceoffs that led to the tying goal in regulation and the winning goal in overtime. "I definitely feel strong on faceoffs," said Fisher, who is winning 51.8 percent of his draws this season. "I'm still working on strengthening my shoulder, I've still got some more work to do. But I'm definitely feeling a lot better. Everyday I'm doing weights and all my other exercises and I'll probably be doing that all year. I've got to stay at it and make sure I'm as strong as I can be." With 13 points (6G, 7A) in 20 games, Fisher is on pace to challenge the career-best 53 points he posted with the Senators in 2009-10.
News:Mike Fisher lit the lamp twice versus Vancouver on Thursday.
Analysis: The goals were just the 4th and 5th of the season for Mike Fisher and he seems to be infected with the same malady as every other Predator, an inability to score on a regular basis.
Preds' Fisher Still Looking For First Point Of Season
News: Coach Barry Trotz says he is not worried about Mike Fisher, who has not scored a point in five games since returning from a concussion, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: "Fish missed a lot of time and then came back and had two really good games because he was on an adrenaline high," Trotz said. "The second time, you don't have that adrenaline high; you've already been there, done that. And also, he's seeing a lot of the first-pair defensemen right now. He'll come around. I'm not worried about Fish; he works too hard." Mike Fisher, who also missed the first seven games of the season with a shoulder injury, had four points (2G, 2A) in the two games immediately following his return, but has not registered a point since. He's still seeing quality ice time, averaging 19-21 minutes per game on the first line, so it's likely just a matter of time before he hits the scoresheet.
Preds' Fisher Returns To Lineup Following Concussion
News:Mike Fisher returned to the lineup Thusday for the Predators' 3-0 blanking of the Coyotes after missing the previous game with a mild concussion.
Analysis:Mike Fisher didn't hit the scoresheet but played 19:46 and won 9 of 16 faceoffs. "I have to get my legs going a little bit better," Fisher said. "Overall it felt pretty good and there was no problem at all." Feel free to get him back in your fantasy lineups if you haven't already.
News:Mike Fisher (upper body) expects to play Thursday at Phoenix, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis:Mike Fisher, who caught a blindside hit to the head Saturday against the Ducks, said he actually suffered a concussion on the play. "You never know how bad those can be concussions," Fisher said. "Thankfully, it looks like I'll be good to go (Thursday). I'm feeling all right." Even though he's received the green light to resume play, make sure you monitor his status closely as concussion symptoms could technically re-occur any time.
Preds' Fisher Close To Return From Upper Body Injury
News:Mike Fisher (upper body) will make the Preds' upcoming four-game road swing, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis:Mike Fisher practiced Tuesday and is expected to travel with the team, however it's still not known when he will return to the lineup. Consider him day-to-day for now, but it sounds like he's getting close.
News:Mike Fisher (upper body) did not travel with the team to Chicago for Monday's game against the Blackhawks, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Fortunately for Nashville, Mike Fisher's injury is day-to-day so he should be back soon. It's unclear how the injury will affect his play upon his return, but Fisher did manage to notch four points in his first two games.
Predators' Fisher Leaves Game Saturday With Upper Body Injury
News:Mike Fisher left Saturday's game with an upper body injury and will not return, the Predators' official site reports.
Analysis: Thankfully, it wasn't his surgically repaired shoulder. He just returned to the ice Tuesday, making his season debut. If healthy, he should be centering the Pathers' second or third line. Until he gets healthy enough to play regularly, it's hard to recommend playing him. However, it's worth noting that he came out hot in his first two games, recording two goals and two assists for a total of four points.
News:Mike Fisher, recently recovered from offseason shoulder surgery, played in his first game of the season in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Sharks.
Analysis:Mike Fisher skated 19:31 during the contest, an impressive amount of ice time considering it was his first game back. He lined up as the Preds' second-line center between Sergei Kostitsyn and Craig Smith. Feel free to get him back into your lineups if you haven't already.
News:Mike Fisher (shoulder) will be activated from injured reserve to make his season debut Tuesday night, Josh Cooper of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis:Mike Fisher has been cleared to take the ice after overcoming offseason shoulder surgery. It's not clear how much ice time he will see right away, but he'll likely settle center the Predators' second or third line once it's clear he is back in game shape.
News: Coach Barry Trotz says Mike Fisher (shoulder) will not travel with the team on its upcoming road trip, reports the Tennessean.
Analysis: Sounds like you can expect Mike Fisher to be out awhile longer. The Preds travel to Western Canada this week to face the Oilers, Canucks and Flames, and Fisher is expected to miss all three games.
News:Mike Fisher (shoulder) says he will not play in the Preds' next two games, according to the Tennessean.
Analysis:Mike Fisher was seen joking and shoving with Shea Weber during practice Wednesday, but insisted afterwards he is not quite ready to return. "Still got a little bit of work to do as far as strength [in the left shoulder]. It's feeling pretty good. It's not as strong as the [right] side." There is still no timetable for Fisher's return, so keep him glued to your bench.
News:Mike Fisher (shoulder) announced that he is out through the weekend, Joshua Cooper of the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: While Mike Fisher works towards making his season debut, he is still not ready. The Predators currently 2-0 and are scheduled to play Phoenix and New Jersey this weekend.
Preds' Fisher Practicing Again Following Shoulder Surgery
News:Mike Fisher (shoulder) is making progress in his recovery following offseason shoulder surgery, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: After practice Monday, coach Barry Trotz spoke about both Mike Fisher and defenseman Francis Bouillon (concussion), saying both players are practicing but have not been cleared for contact. "I don't know any return date, but they're getting closer," Trotz said. "Every day that they're battling with us and that they're involved, the closer they are to being in the lineup. And trust me, I'd love to have that happen." Fisher is likely to resume his role as the Preds' No. 1 center once he is cleared to play, but there's still no timetable for his return so keep him on your bench for now.
Shoulder Injury Lands Preds' Fisher On Injured Reserve
News:Mike Fisher (shoulder) will start the season on injured reserve, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis:Mike Fisher is "getting closer to being able to play" according to Preds GM David Poile, so this should not be seen as a setback. Fisher is scheduled to travel with the team to Columbus and St. Louis this weekend, but will not see any game action.
News:Mike Fisher (shoulder) won't play in the season opener Friday, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: He was able to join team drills Monday for the first time since the preseason began. Mike Fisher's absence beyond Friday is unclear, so keep an eye out for word of any plans that may put him on IR to begin the season.
News:Mike Fisher (shoulder) may miss the Predators' season opener, Josh Cooper of the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Since undergoing shoulder surgery this offseason, Mike Fisher has been making progress on his return. His range of motion and strength are improving but he is not optimistic he will be ready for the season opener, October 7th, against the Blue Jackets.
News: Coach Barry Trotz is not concerned about Mike Fisher (shoulder) being out long-term, Joshua Cooper of the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: "He's getting to a point where hopefully it comes around and he gets healthy and ready to go a little quicker," Trotz said of Mike Fisher. "I'm not too worried about him." Fisher is pretty much a lock for centering one of the Preds' top two lines this year - the real question at this point is how effective will he be in that role, especially if he misses most (if not all) of training camp.
News:Mike Fisher, who is still recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, is not sure whether he will be ready for the start of the regular season, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: "Not sure, to be honest," Mike Fisher said. "We'll see if I can slip into training camp, get strong and feel good. But it's coming up quick. It has been a long haul so far, so we'll see." On Friday, the first day of training camp, Fisher described the recovery as "slower than I had hoped." He is skating and starting to shoot, but has not been cleared for contact. Monitor his progress carefully during training camp, and drop him down a peg or two on your draft sheet if he's still not quite 100 percent come October.
Preds' Fisher Still Recovering From Shoulder Surgery
News:Mike Fisher hasn't completely recovered from offseason shoulder surgery, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: "He's working out, he's skating," Preds GM David Poile said of Mike Fisher. "I would say we'd probably go a little bit slower with him going into training camp to make sure he's ready and 100 percent going into the season." Fisher will likely resume his role of centering one of the Preds' top two lines this season, but the issue with his shoulder might mean he is a bit slower out of the gate come October. As such, you might want to knock him down a few pegs on your fantasy draft cheatsheet.
News: Fisher was slated for surgery Monday to repair a chronic shoulder issue, Joshua Cooper of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: GM David Poile noted that Fisher's recovery would require approximately three months, but given the timing of the procedure, the center should be ready for training camp.
News: Fisher had two assists in an OT loss to Detroit on Saturday; one came on the power play, the other at even strength.
Analysis: It took Fish a while to find his groove in Nashville but he sure has now. The points extend his scoring streak to four games and six points. Make sure you get him in your lineup from now until season's end.
News: Fisher broke out of his slump in a big way Saturday night, scoring twice in the Preds' win over the Stars, the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: Fisher apparently has been playing hurt for the Preds since his trade to Nashville. "Fisher has been banged up for a long time," coach Barry Trotz said. "He is finally getting healthier and you can see it in his play. He let it out of the bag that he is healthy now. He has gotten through it. He doesn't complain. He goes out and plays every game. He has played when other guys probably wouldn't have played."
News: Fisher was held off the scoresheet for the 12th consecutive game Thursday against Anaheim.
Analysis: With just a single goal (an empty-netter) and three helpers in 20 games, Fisher has been a complete bust since he arrived from Ottawa back in February. He may be a leader on the ice and in the dressing room, but the Preds aren't paying him $4 million a season to motivate the troops. Either way, he's just not a guy you want to be relying on for fantasy purposes right now.
Preds' Fisher Suffers Mystery Injury Thursday, Should Play Saturday
News: Fisher is expected to play Saturday against Colorado after suffering an undisclosed injury Thursday against Minnesota, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Fisher did not play the final 16 minutes of Thursday's game and headed to the locker room after only two shifts. Following the game, coach Barry Trotz did not specify what type of injury Fisher sustained, but on Friday said his top centerman would be "probable" against the Avs on Saturday. Monitor Fisher's status carefully, but at this point it looks like you can roll him as you normally would.
Preds' Fisher Shrugs Off Puck To Face, Will Play Saturday
News: Fisher is expected to play Saturday against Phoenix, the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: As previously reported, Fisher took a puck to the face Thursday against Vancouver but finished the game and is not expected to miss any time. Roll him as you normally would.
Preds' Fisher Gets Stitches After Being Hit With Puck Thursday
News: Fisher took a puck to the face during Thursday's game against the Canucks, reports the Tennessean.
Analysis: A puck hit Fisher on his right cheekbone about eight minutes into the game. However, he returned early in the second period and scored his first goal as a Predator to help lead his team to a 3-1 win. "It took awhile to get stitched up but after that, I felt fine," Fisher said. "I've been hit a little bit harder than that before. I've got lots of stitches. It was a matter of stopping the bleeding and getting back out there as soon as I can." The puck left a nearly three-inch slice on Fisher's face, and he left a trail of blood on the ice as he headed to the bench. However, at this point there's no reason to think he will miss any time. Roll him as you normally would.
News: Fisher scored his first goal with Nashville in Thursday's win over the Canucks.
Analysis: After 11 seasons and 167 goals with the Senators, Fisher scored in a different uniform for the first time in his career. He's a much more promising fantasy play with the Preds than he was with Ottawa.
News: Fisher picked up an assist in his debut as a Predator on Saturday night.
Analysis: Sure, it came when he set up an empty-netter but who cares? He's going to get top-line minutes and play in all important situations in Nashville. And that can only improve his fantasy value.
News: The Senators have traded Fisher to the Predators in exchange for Nashville's first-round selection in the 2011 Entry Draft and a conditional pick in the 2012 Draft, TSN.ca reports.
Analysis: Fisher, who has 14 goals and 10 assists in 55 games to date, should benefit from the change of scenery, especially in the plus/minus category, since he was minus-19 for the punchless Sens.
News: Fisher was able to play through a foot injury Tuesday, though he only attempted one shot in a 6-0 loss to the Bruins.
Analysis: Fisher played regular minutes (16:47) but he's not doing enough with the puck to warrant fantasy consideration outside of the deepest leagues. Not helping matters is that the Senators are one of three teams yet to score 100 goals as a team.
Sens' Fisher Should Be Fine For Tuesday's Game Against Bruins
News: Fisher (foot) missed Monday morning's practice, but should be good to go for Tuesday's game against Boston reports TSN's Brent Wallace.
Analysis: He hurt the foot blocking a shot in Saturday's 2-1 loss to Tampa Bay. For the season, Fisher has 11 goals, six assists, and a minus-12 rating in 42 games.
News: Fisher scored his 10th goal of the year on the power play to start the Sens' scoring in their win over the Pens on Sunday.
Analysis: Fisher's scoring pace (10g, 7a in 37 games) is off from last year, but he's still getting plenty of chances on the power play.
News: Fisher scored twice and picked up an assist in Saturday's 3-0 smackdown of the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: Whatever had been ailing Fisher seems to be gone as he had strength and speed all night. He'd had just one point in his previous 11 contests so this may be the sign of an impending spurt. Watch him carefully and be prepared to pounce.
News: Fisher (upper body) scored his fifth goal of the season in a 5-2 loss to St. Louis on Friday night.
Analysis: He hadn't recorded a point in the seven games previous to Friday. Fisher is playing through an undisclosed upper body injury so this type of sporadic offensive output is likely to continue until he's over his injury.
News: Fisher is playing through some pain right now as he's suffering from an undisclosed upper body injury reports Sportsnet's Ian Mendes.
Analysis: He's been largely ineffective since the early part of the season, having only scored four goals and three assists through 19 games with none in the last seven. Because of the injury, Fisher isn't able to crash and bang like he usually does so it's best to sit the center until he's fully healthy.
News: Fisher did not participate in the morning skate, but will play in Tuesday's game against Atlanta, Wayne Scanlan of the Ottawa Citizen reports.
Analysis: No explanation was given for Fisher's absence, but coach Cory Clouston said the forward will be on the ice Tuesday night. After a slow start to the season, Fisher has four goals and three assists in 14 games and should be ready to go in fantasy lineups.
News: Fisher scored two goals on eight shots, was plus-1, and collected a penalty -- a stat-sheet-filling night -- in Thursday's win over Carolina.
Analysis: Fisher's coming off his best NHL season, in which he recorded career highs in goals (25) and assists (28), but he had been scoreless and a minus-3 through the team's first three games. It's good to see him get back to putting pucks on net.
Ottawa's Fisher Not Playing Friday Night Against Rangers
News: Fisher is suffering from a sore neck after being hit from behind and into the boards by Toronto forward Colby Armstrong on Wednesday night and won't be making the trip to New York on Friday reports the Ottawa Sun.
Analysis: He might also miss Saturday's final preseason game against the Rangers, but the injury is not considered serious and Fisher should be fine for the start of the regular season.
Ottawa's Fisher Leaves Practice Early With Groin Problem
News: Fisher left Monday morning's practice after suffering a groin injury reports the Ottawa Citizen's Ken Warren.
Analysis: No word yet on the severity of the problem, but Fisher will not be playing in Tuesday's preseason game against Buffalo.
News: Senators C Mike Fisher ended a seven-game goal drought Tuesday when he scored twice in a win over the Panthers. Fisher now has a career-high 24 goals this season.
Analysis: Fisher's numbers this season were great when he was getting top-line time while Jason Spezza was out injured, but since then he's really tailed off. Fisher remains only worth using in deeper Fantasy formats for now.
News: Senators C Mike Fisher returned to the lineup on Thursday against the Thrashers after missing one game with an upper-body injury. He had no points in 17:37 of ice time and finished at minus-1. Fisher has no points in his last three games.
Analysis: Fisher was at his best early in the season when Jason Spezza was dinged up and not producing. However, ever since Spezza returned to form in February, Fisher's offensive numbers have tanked. He has now become a risky Fantasy start until he starts posting favorable numbers again.
News: Senators C Mike Fisher took part in the pregame skate but was left out of the lineup Tuesday against the Maple Leafs due to an upper-body injury. He is listed as day-to-day.
Analysis: With 21 goals and 25 assists on the season, Fisher can be considered a low-end No. 2 or high-end No. 3 Fantasy center when healthy.
News: Ottawa coach Cory Clouston delivered a simple second-intermission message, telling the Senators to get an early goal and trust their skills. The Senators responded, killing off two penalties to start the final period before Alexei Kovalev, Jason Spezza and Mike Fisher scored in a 6:59 span in a 4-3 comeback victory over the New York Islanders on Sunday. Fisher deflated the sparse Nassau Coliseum crowd when he moved behind Andy Sutton near the right post, and tipped Filip Kuba's feed past Dwayne Roloson for the winner at 10:46. "I saw [Kuba] rounding the corner and he just looked up, saw me and made a sick pass," Fisher said. "It was an easy one for me. Right on my stick. It was all him."
Analysis: Fisher's 20th goal was also his first score in seven games. He now has four seasons with 20 or more goals. Thanks to the shortened month, Fisher will fail to record at least 10 points for a fifth consecutive month in February. Fisher's numbers have been a bit down since the return of Jason Spezza. It's not surprising since Fisher did his best work when Spezza was injured or slumping. Fisher has slipped down the Fantasy rankings and don't be surprised if he is not as strong a player down the stretch.
News: Senators C Mike Fisher scored his 19th goal of the season in Saturday, an overtime effort that gave Ottawa a 3-2 win over the Canadiens.
Analysis: After an awful start to 2010, Fisher has got back on track a little recently with two goals in his last two games and nine points in his last nine games. He remains worth using in most leagues as a low-end starting Fantasy forward.
News: Senators C Mike Fisher scored a goal and finished at plus-1 on Thursday against the Penguins. Fisher tied it at 1 at 10:06 of the first with his 18th, a tap-in into an open net off a feed from Nick Foligno moments after Fisher's wrist shot had hit the post. It was his first goal in four games.
Analysis: Fisher's offensive production has definitely dwindled since late December. He is not scoring as much and isn't having as many multi-point games. It doesn't help that Jason Spezza is back in the lineup and healthy. Fisher capitalized early in the season as Spezza wasn't playing up to his potential. Fisher has slipped down to being a No. 5 or No. 6 Fantasy forward.
News: Senators C Mike Fisher assisted three times in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Bruins.
Analysis: Fisher now has six points in his last three games and is maybe finally getting used to life as an engaged man. If he keeps this up the rest of Fantasy Week 16 (Jan. 18-24), all owners will want to think about getting Fisher active in all formats.
News: Senators C Mike Fisher has no goals in his last 13 games.
Analysis: The shock of getting engaged has sent Fisher into an offensive tailspin lately. Of course, the fact that Daniel Alfredsson, Jason Spezza and Milan Michalek are all out injured hasn't helped his cause either. He'll surely turn things around at some point, but you might want to bench him in smaller leagues until he's back on track.
News: Senators C Mike Fisher tallied an assist and finished at plus-1 during Monday's game against the Canadiens. He has three assists in his last six games, but no goals in that span.
Analysis: Fisher is having a heck of a 2009. First, he emerges as the Senators top offensive player after Jason Spezza and Daniel Alfredsson struggle. News: The Ottawa Citizen reports that Senators C Mike Fisher, who has nine goals in 18 games this season, is crediting his success to a calmer demeanor. "I've kind of relaxed compared to last year, where I was gripping the stick," he said. "Sometimes you try too hard and things don't go so well, so I think I've relaxed a little more, and just got down to playing and having some fun. And, obviously, when the team is doing well, it's more enjoyable, and this has been a lot better start than last year."
Analysis: Fisher's disappointing 2008-09 campaign is clearly a thing of the past and 50 points this season certainly isn't out of the question. Continue to use him in deeper formats as a low-end starting Fantasy forward.

Analysis: Fisher posted five goals and 11 points in his first 12 games and really benefited from Jason Spezza (back) not being 100 percent. Spezza returned to the lineup on Thursday and totaled three points, yet, Fisher was still productive. Perhaps there is hope that Fisher won't slow down and break 50 points for the first time in his career. If you can afford to take a flier on Fisher in Fantasy, then go ahead.

Analysis: Those folks who got excited about Fisher's start to the season and grabbed him in deeper leagues should look at Thursday's game for an example of why he disappointed in 2008-09. Stash Fisher in deeper leagues for the time being.
News: Senators C Mike Fisher scored and assisted Saturday in a win over the Thrashers. "I'm feeling young," said the 29-year-old Fisher, who was teamed with 36-year-old linemates Alexei Kovalev and Daniel Alfredsson. "They create so much space, they both make great plays and they're strong on the puck. They made some great plays tonight -- we could have had a few more."
Analysis: Fisher has now scored in back-to-back games and certainly has a chance to get back into the high 40s after his disappointing 32-point campaign last season. Still, he remains a low-end Fantasy forward for now.
News:The Sports Xchange reports C Mike Fisher used his speed to out-race former teammate Zdeno Chara and score his 13th goal of the season shorthanded in the first period Tuesday against the Bruins. The goal snapped Fisher's drought at eight games.
Analysis: A lot of folks were interested to see how well Fisher would play once Cory Clouston took over for Craig Hartsburg since Clouston's style was perfect for Fisher's offensive talents. Well, Fisher has had mild success under Clouston and really hasn't increased his value heading into 2009-10.
News:Mike Fisher and the Senators finished off an eight-game homestand with yet another victory. Fisher scored off a rebound at 2:38 of overtime to give Ottawa its fourth consecutive victory -- 3-2 against the Lightning on Wednesday night. "We've felt like we've upped our game and we're finding little ways to win and trying to be patient regardless of the circumstance in the game," Fisher said. "I think we've done a good job of not panicking, and tonight we stuck it out and got a big win." Chris Phillips took a shot from 30 feet out that goalie Karri Ramo stopped, but Fisher controlled the rebound in the slot and scored his 11th goal of the season. "I was just trying to crash the net and Philly got a good shot on net and I was able to get the rebound," Fisher said. "It was nice to get that one in overtime. I don't think we played our best game and we have to be better in certain areas."
Analysis: Fisher has been a bit of a disappointment for most of this season, but has been pouring on the offense lately. News: Senators C Mike Fisher assisted twice in Saturday's win over the Sabres, giving him six points in his last six games.
Analysis: After three straight seasons of over 40 points, Fisher has struggled to just 26 in 2008-09. He seems to be back on track a little more since Cory Clouston took over in Ottawa, but he still has a long way to go if he wants to be Fantasy relevant outside of the deepest of leagues.
News: Senators C Mike Fisher scored his ninth goal of the season Thursday in a loss to the Sharks.

It was Fisher's first goal in 11 games.

News: Craig Hartsburg lasted less than one season with the unraveling Ottawa Senators, who suddenly have a revolving door behind the bench. Unable to turn around a team that reached the Stanley Cup finals in 2007, Hartsburg was fired as coach Monday just 48 games into a season in which the Senators have the NHL's third worst record. The Senators made their first trip to the finals two years ago and now are likely to miss the playoffs for the first time in 13 seasons. The decision to replace Hartsburg with Cory Clouston was made by general manager Bryan Murray after Ottawa lost 7-4 at Washington on Sunday. Hartsburg signed a three-year contract in June. "We kept hoping there would be some change in our performance, which didn't seem to be taking place," said Murray, who coached the club to the finals before taking over as GM. "We just weren't making any progress. We're struggling to keep up."
Analysis: Clouston, promoted from the AHL's Binghamton Senators, is the team's fourth coach since Ottawa lost in five games to Anaheim in the 2007 finals. Murray returned behind the bench for the final 18 regular-season games (7-9-2) after he fired first-year coach John Paddock in February. The momentum of the finals appearance carried into last season when the Senators won 15 of their first 17 games. Since then, they have had a losing record and barely managed to hang on for a playoff spot last spring. The Senators were swept out of the first round in four games by Pittsburgh. The slide continued this season, even with a fresh voice in Hartsburg behind the bench. Scoring is down for the club's three offensive stars -- Daniel Alfredsson, Dany Heatley and Jason Spezza. There has been little offense as well from Mike Fisher, Antoine Vermette, Chris Neil and Chris Kelly. The once-feared Ottawa attack has become among the lowest-scoring in the league, and many point to the failure of defensemen to move the puck. In recent years, Zdeno Chara, Wade Redden, Andrej Meszaros and Joe Corvo have been among the defensemen who have left Ottawa either by trade or through free agency. Ottawa hasn't gotten much production from their blue line outside of Filip Kuba. Clouston will likely let the Big Three fire at will, but it will be interesting to see if he can get the other supporting characters back to being viable Fantasy options.
News: Ottawa C Mike Fisher scored two goals in the Senators 3-1 win over the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night. Fisher started the game off right with a shorthanded goal in the 1st period to put the Sens up 1-0. Fisher also made good on an empty net opportunity in the 3rd to give the game its final margin and give him seven tallies on the season.
Analysis: Fisher now has 17 points on the year and seven goals. He's recorded points in four of his last six games and has been playing much better of late. Fisher is usually a 20-20 guy, but has never broken 50 points in his career. He remains a low-end Fantasy forward.
News:The Sports Xchange reports Senators C Mike Fisher is the latest struggling Senator to look as if he is snapping out of a funk. Fisher, who has recently been romantically linked to country singing superstar Carrie Underwood, scored his second goal in three games with under two minutes to send the game into overtime Saturday against the Canadiens. It also extended his modest point scoring streak to three games (two goals, one assist).
Analysis: Ever since Fisher's name has come up in trade talks with Edmonton, he has been really motivated to put on a good show. The Senators have said no one is ever off limits, but they don't want to part with Fisher, who they view as a staple for the future. Fisher is usually a 20-20 guy, but has never broken 50 points in his career. He remains a low-end Fantasy forward.
News: Senators C Mike Fisher scored in Tuesday's win over the Hurricanes, giving him his first point in the last eight games.
Analysis: Fisher has been the subject of trade rumors over the last couple of weeks. After averaging 46.3 points over the last three seasons, he only has 13 points in 2008-09, and Ottawa could do with cleaning house. Fisher remains just a low-end Fantasy option for now, but a favorable trade could increase his value.
News:The Edmonton Sun reports league sources say that the Oilers have a mild interest in Senators center Jason Spezza, but are hot after his teammate Mike Fisher. The 28-year-old center has just three goals and 12 points in 36 games, but Ottawa isn't interested in moving Fisher despite his struggles. Edmonton isn't ruling out adding Spezza, but his seven-year, $49 million contract might be tough to take on. Edmonton much rather have a hard-nosed player like Fisher.
Analysis: Senators GM Bryan Murray is willing to move anybody in his roster, but Fisher has a no-movement clause until the end of the 2009-10 season. Still, Fisher is one player the Senators would like to keep. Perhaps a change of scenery would help Fisher get back on track, but for now, he remains with Ottawa. Continue to view him as a low-end Fantasy forward.
News:The Sports Xchange reports that Senators C Mike Fisher would like to find even a little bit of net again. The Senators' second-line center has had 16 shots on goal in his last two games and, while he's been his team's best player on both nights, he's had nothing to show for it. "Fish played his heart out," coach Craig Hartsburg said after Fisher was denied seven times in Ottawa's 2-0 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday. "He hit, he got hit, he blocked shots, he was huge for us. You like to see him get rewarded on the scoresheet, but we needed a few other guys with the same mindset as him."
Analysis: Fisher, who has just three goals on the season, hasn't scored since Nov. 27. He has had 26 shots on goal in the five games since. Leave Fisher on your bench until he starts to pick things up, as his points will rise eventually.
News: Senators C Mike Fisher returned to the lineup Thursday against the Maple Leafs after missing two games because of a knee injury. He got credit for his third goal of the season 3:54 in when his centering pass toward Shean Donovan went into the net off Toronto defenseman Tomas Kaberle's skate.

News: TSN reports that Senators RW Mike Fisher could miss a couple of weeks with strained ligaments in his right knee. He injured himself on Monday and won't require surgery. "It definitely could have been a lot worse," he said. "I hope it'll be a case of a little bit of rest and a lot of therapy and I'll be back on the ice soon."
Analysis: Fisher has only six points this season as the entire Senators team is struggling to put the puck in the net. He has been relegated to a bench option in deeper leagues when healthy and really is only worth holding on to in super-deep leagues while he's out.
News: The Ottawa Citizen reports that Senators C Mike Fisher left Tuesday's game against the Rangers in the second period after getting his right leg entangled with Marc Staal and Nigel Dawes. The extent of the injury is not known.
Analysis: Fisher has only six points this season as the entire Senators team is struggling to put the puck in the net lately. He's been relegated to a bench option in deeper leagues when healthy and could miss some time with this issue.
News: Senators C Mike Fisher scored a goal in Friday's game against Carolina, giving him points in each of his last three games. He has totaled five points over that span.
Analysis: Fisher has three assists and two goals on the season. He's starting to put together some decent games and is worth a pick up in larger leagues. But his long-term prospects are not that great, so he should just be considered a player to use while he stays hot.
News: Ottawa C Mike Fisher had a big game on Tuesday night against the Capitals. Fisher assisted on Dany Heatley's 2nd period goal that put Ottawa up 1-0. Washington tied the game at one and it had to go to overtime. At the 4:20 mark in OT, Fisher took a pass from Daniel Alfredsson and Filip Kuba and scored his first goal of the season to win the game.
Analysis: Fisher registered two points on Tuesday and they are his first two of the season in 10 games. Leave Fisher on your bench until the Sens start to pick things up, as his points will rise with the team's fortunes.
News:The Sports Xchange reports that there was a subtle significance to the fighting major Ottawa C Mike Fisher was levied in the second period of Monday's win at Buffalo. It marked Fisher's first statistic of the season. After six games and one period, Fisher had no penalty minutes to go with his zero points. And as the team's No. 2 center, his inability to score or assist has been part of the reason the Senators have struggled out of the gate.
Analysis: Fisher was on the top line in Ottawa momentarily last week, but he has now been demoted back down to the second scoring unit. He is surrounded by so much talent in Ottawa that you would think he would be picking up assists all over the place, but the Sens are off to a relatively slow start. Leave Fisher on your bench until the Sens start to pick things up, as his points will rise with the team's fortunes.
News: The Ottawa Senators official web site reports that coach Craig Hartsburg has tweaked his lines for the second time in less than a week. LW Antoine Vermette has been moved up to the top line alongside C Jason Spezza and RW Dany Heatley, while RW Daniel Alfredsson and LW Nick Foligno will flank C Mike Fisher on the second unit.
Analysis: OK, so these moves clearly benefit Spezza, who regains his spot on the top line, and Vermette, who returns to a scoring line alongside two Fantasy studs. Alfredsson's value takes a hit as he won't get nearly as many assists playing alongside Foligno and Fisher. Jesse Winchester will likely drop down to the third line to take Vermette's spot. Heatley, Spezza and Alfredsson remain must-starts in all formats as long as they're healthy, while the rest of these guys only have value in deeper leagues as low-end options.
News: Senators C Mike Fisher is back healthy after missing the team's first two games because of a groin injury. Fisher was able to play in Saturday's game against the Red Wings, Ottawa's home opener.
Analysis: The Senators expect Fisher to anchor the third line, a physical unit with Chris Neil and Jarkko Ruutu, so he needs to prove healthy in 2008-09. Fisher has good offensive talent, but if he is going to play on the checking line, he remains a low-end Fantasy forward to open the season.

"We'll have to wait and see how he feels (Friday)," Senators coach Craig Hartsburg said. "We're hoping it's not real serious but we'll know better (Friday)."

It's best to reserve him Fantasy Week 1 (Oct. 4-12) at this stage.

News: Senators C Mike Fisher, who injured his knee late last season, scored a goal in Ottawa's preseason opener against the Rangers on Saturday.
Analysis: Fisher had 23 goals, 24 assists and a minus-10 rating in 79 games last season. He was extremely valuable to Ottawa when injuries hit some of their top line forwards (Dany Heatley and Daniel Alfredsson). News: The Ottawa Citizen is reporting the Senators are expected to be shorthanded in their first-round playoff matchup against the Penguins. Head coach Bryan Murray is currently scrambling to patch up lines as Daniel Alfredsson (knee, neck, back) and Mike Fisher (knee) are not expected back until the Eastern Conference semifinals -- if they get that far -- at the earliest. "It's definitely going to be the first round that we're going to be short, and then hopefully we'll get lucky and one of them might be able to come back, but I don't know that," Murray said.
Analysis: Fisher was at his peak in December and January when Dany Heatley was out of action, but ended the season on a slump. He had just six points in his last 29 games. Analysis: Fisher also finally made it past the 20-goal mark for the season, but he was in a major slump for more than a month. In February he had just one point (assist) and he had no points since Jan. 31. Fisher is a low-end Fantasy option at this time.

Analysis: Fisher was playing some of his best hockey in December and January, and it looked as though he was going to cruise through the rest of the season as the Senators' second-best center. Not the case. He is seeing plenty of playing time, but his production continues to fluctuate. He remains a low-end Fantasy option at this time.

Analysis: Fisher now has a goal in consecutive games after being held off the stat sheet for nine straight games. It's not like the Senators are giving him plenty of PT. He is averaging 20 minutes per game. Fisher remains a viable No. 3 or No. 4 Fantasy forward.
News:The Sports Xchange reports the dark cloud continues to follow Senators C Mike Fisher (no goals in 11 games) and C Antoine Vermette (one assist in nine games). With the score 1-1 early in the third period Wednesday against the Islanders, Fisher set up Randy Robitaille for a goal that was waived off because Vermette interfered with Isles' G Rick DiPietro. No penalty was called. "I was trying to pop out the other side, but Andy Sutton cross-checked me and I couldn't move," said Vermette. "We didn't think it was the right call."
Analysis: Fisher has hit the skids after opening November with nine points (2 G, 7 A) in seven games. He has been held off the stat sheet in his last six games. Fisher continues to man the second line for the Senators and should continue to see a fair share of point opportunities come his way. Despite his recent slump, Fisher remains a viable No. 3 or No. 4 Fantasy forward.
News: Senators center Jason Spezza appears ready to return to the lineup after his groin injury but won't necessarily rejoin Dany Heatley and Daniel Alfredsson on Ottawa's powerful first line. The Senators have played well during Spezza's six-game absence and lead the Eastern Conference with a 14-2 record. Coach John Paddock may be reluctant to shake things up against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night. He also likes splitting up his top unit on occasion, and Spezza's first game since Oct. 27 -- barring any setbacks - may provide more opportunity for that. "It's not like it's a bad thing that they play together, I don't mean that at all," Paddock said after practice Tuesday. "But I think there's an advantage to them playing with somebody else."
Analysis: Spezza has helped Heatley reach back-to-back 50-goal seasons. Heatley has just one goal in his past eight games. "Obviously, I'd prefer to play with the same guys all the time and just get used to them," Spezza said. "I think me and Heater work well together. I like having the puck a little bit and he likes scoring goals and shooting one-timers." Mike Fisher stepped into Spezza's spot on the top line and hasn't looked out of place. The Senators have gone 5-1 in Spezza's absence. Partly through his own request, Spezza has skated with a different combination of players at practice. "We'll see what John has us do the first couple of games and what he does with the lineup," Spezza said. "If he keeps them together, I've got no problem with that." Fisher has three assists in his past three games and his Fantasy value is definitely higher as long as he stays on Heatley's line. But even then, he's still only a No. 3 center in most formats.
News: Mike Fisher and Ottawa Senators finally overpowered Tim Thomas and the Boston Bruins. Fisher scored two of Ottawa's three power-play goals in the Senators' 3-2 victory over the Bruins 3-2 on Saturday. Fisher scored both of his goals off rebounds. Fisher took a total of nine shots in the game and finished with a minus-2 rating.
Analysis: Don't look now, but Fisher is turning into a scoring machine. He has five goals in his last seven games. He is also on a five-game points streak, in which he has four goals and two assists. Fisher has spent his entire eight-year career with the Sens, but is coming off his two best seasons in which he has tallied a total of 92 points. Fisher remains a low-end Fantasy center at this time, but is picking up steam as he anchors the Sens' third line.
News: Senators C Mike Fisher scored a goal during Saturday's 4-1 win over the Devils. He now has a goal in two straight games and one point in three straight games (2 G, 1 A).
Analysis: Fisher has spent his entire eight-year career with the Sens, but is coming off his two best seasons in which he has tallied a total of 92 points. Fisher remains a low-end Fantasy center at this time.
News: D Joe Corvo and C Mike Fisher each lit the lamp in Thursday's game against the Hurricanes. Corvo finished with a plus-1 rating, while Fisher was even in the loss.
Analysis: Corvo remains a must-start in all Fantasy leagues, while Fisher's value is limited to deeper formats which use at least three centers. The Sens are back in action on Saturday at N.Y. Rangers.

News: Mike Fisher (groin) was back in the lineup over the weekend against the Canadiens, but he rested for the preseason finale on Sunday at Washington. He finished the preseason scoreless in just the one game with a minus-2 rating.
Analysis: It appears Fisher should be fine for the regular season opener on Oct. 3 at Toronto. He remains a decent play in Fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams as a No. 3 or 4 center.

Analysis: Fisher has scored in four straight games and he has managed seven points (4 G, 3 A) during his current six-game points streak.
News: Mike Fisher had an assist with a team-high five shots on goal in 17:04 of ice time in Thursday's game against the Canadiens.

News: Center Mike Fisher has missed the past 12 games with a knee injury, but has resumed skating and hopes to return Feb. 3 against Toronto.
Analysis: Keep Fisher reserved until he can officially return and prove his health. He might be a decent play for Fantasy Week 19 (Feb. 5-11) if he can return strong against the Leafs.
News: The Ottawa Citizen reports Jason Spezza (knee) is expected to return for the first game against the All-Star break on Jan. 27 against the Bruins. He will not skate with Daniel Alfredsson and Dany Heatley, however, as he is expected to be placed on the second scoring line with Mike Fisher and Antoine Vermette.

News: The Ottawa Citizen reports coach Bryan Murray will use Mike Fisher with wings Chris Neil and Peter Schaefer on the third line starting with Wednesday's game at Atlanta.

News: Mike Fisher scored a goal, added an assist with an even rating in Tuesday's game at Toronto with two shots on net in 17:08 of ice time.
Analysis: Fisher had gone scoreless in the first six games, but he now has four points (1 G, 3 A) over the past two starts. Hang tight and keep Fisher on the active Fantasy roster. His slow start was definitely an aberration.
News: The Ottawa Citizen reports Daniel Alfredsson, Mike Fisher and Peter Schaefer will form the second scoring line for the Senators.

Still, Fisher is too young to make a big Fantasy impact, so don't rush to pick him up.
Analysis:
