Sharks' Hannan Picks Up First Point

News: Scott Hannan picked up an assist in his 22:34 of ice time in Tuesday's win over the Oilers.
Analysis: It was the first point of the season for Scott Hannan, who has suited up in 23 games. As neither a proficient scorer nor an active hitter on the blue line, Hannan offers minimal fantasy value.

News: Scott Hannan (undisclosed) was on the ice for 15:23 of action in Thursday's loss to the Canucks.
Analysis: After missing a practice earlier in the week with an undisclosed ailment, Scott Hannan didn't seem to face any obvious limitations Thursday. He finished the game with one shot on goal, one hit and a minus-1 rating.

Sharks' Hannan Day-To-Day

News: Scott Hannan (upper body) missed practice Monday, CSN Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Scott Hannan left Saturday's game after getting hit hard into the boards by the Islanders' Cal Clutterbuck, but his injury is not expected to be serious. The veteran blueliner is expected to be replaced in the lineup by Matt Irwin until he's healthy.

Sharks' Hannan Leaves Early Saturday

News: Scott Hannan was removed from Saturday's game versus the Islanders after the first period due to an undisclosed injury, Kevin Kurz of CSNBayArea.com reports.
Analysis: Scott Hannan took a hard hit from the Isles' Cal Clutterbuck that resulted in his early exit, forcing many of the Sharks' blueliners to play inflated minutes. The nature of Hannan's injury likely won't be known until the Sharks resume practicing. Hannan has no points and a minus-1 rating over 11 games this season, skating primarily as a member of the Sharks' third defensive pair.

Sharks Re-Sign Hannan

News: The Sharks signed Scott Hannan to a one-year, $1 million contract extension on Thursday.
Analysis: Scott Hannan played 56 games for the Sharks last season, totaling three goals, nine assists, 55 penalty minutes, and a plus-1 rating. He figures to slot into a 6/7 role on the San Jose blueline.

Sharks' Hannan Grabs Second Assist Of Postseason

News: Scott Hannan had an assist and 14:16 of ice time in Thursday's loss to Los Angeles.
Analysis: Scott Hannan's playing time has been limited and his potential for offensive production has a low ceiling. There may be better options for your team, depending on your format.

Sharks' Hannan Cleared For Game 1

News: After practicing at full speed Monday, Scott Hannan (upper body) said he'll be available for Game 1 of the Sharks' first-round playoff series against the Kings, Curtis Pashelka of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Scott Hannan took a hit to the head in Friday's game against the Avalanche and was quickly ruled out of Saturday's regular-season finale against the Coyotes. Though he practiced fully Monday, it wasn't as a part of one of the Sharks' top three defensive pairings, a sign he could be a scratch for Game 1.

News: Scott Hannan (upper body) is out for Saturday's game against the Coyotes, David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News reports.

Sharks' Hannan Leaves With Injury Friday

News: Scott Hannan left Friday's game against the Avalanche with an apparent injury, Kevin Kurz of CSNBayArea.com reports.
Analysis: Scott Hannan appeared to take a high hit from Colorado's Patrick Bordeleau in the first period and didn't come out for the second. The defenseman previously dealt with a concussion a few months ago, and it's very possible he may have sustained another blow to the head. We should find out more about his status heading into the playoffs.

Sharks' Hannan Healthy Scratched Monday

News: Scott Hannan was a healthy scratch on Monday following the return of Brad Stuart, David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News reports.

Hannan Gets Another Assist In Sharks Win

News: Scott Hannan had an assist and a plus-1 rating in a win over Columbus on Friday.
Analysis: Scott Hannan has four assists in his last four games. He's also a plus-5 over that stretch. On the other hand he's only passed 18 minutes of ice time once and has a total of one shot in those four games. Unfortunately, the points will go away, but the minutes and the shot totals are the reality of having Hannan on your roster.

Sharks' Hannan Adds Two Points In Win

News: Scott Hannan recorded two assists in Wednesday's 2-1 overtime win over the Stars.
Analysis: The veteran blueliner doesn't provide a huge amount of offensive production, but he chipped in two points Wednesday. He now has a line of 3/8/11 through 37 games this season.

Hannan Nabs Assist In Sharks Win

News: Scott Hannan assisted on the Sharks' only regulation goal in Saturday's 2-1 shootout win over Chicago.
Analysis: Scott Hannan was back in the lineup on Saturday after being a healthy scratch on Thursday. He's played two of three games since returning from injury on January 29. He's not getting consistent enough ice time for you to rely on him at this point.

Sharks Activate Hannan

News: Scott Hannan (concussion) has been activated from injured reserve.
Analysis: Scott Hannan looked to be ready to play last week, but coach Todd McLellan chose not to use him in any of the team's games. It looks like he could be a healthy scratch most nights for the Sharks in the games to come.

Sharks' Hannan Placed On IR

News: Scott Hannan (concussion) was placed on injured reserve Thursday, David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News reports.

Sharks' Hannan Has Concussion

News: Scott Hannan will miss Thursday's game against the Panthers with a concussion, David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Scott Hannan took an elbow to the head during a Jan. 9 game against the Red Wings and ended up playing in the Sharks' next game before the concussion symptoms surfaced. Now that he's under the NHL's concussion protocol, it would seem unlikely that he returns until next week, at the earliest.

Hannan's Struggles Continue for San Jose

News: Scott Hannan had an assist and a minus-1 rating in a loss to Colorado on Saturday.
Analysis: Scott Hannan ended a five-game drought on Saturday, however his plus/minus has been terrible lately, despite some solid wins for the Sharks. Over his last five games — a stretch that includes missed time due to an upper-body injury — he's minus-4 with a single game where he wasn't a minus.

Sharks' Hannan Returns From Injury

News: Scott Hannan returned from his upper-body injury Thursday against the Kings.
Analysis: He saw 14:52 of ice time in the contest, finishing with two blocked shots and a minus-1 rating. Scott Hannan has seven points in 29 games this season, but his sporadic playing time makes him a difficult option to trust.

Sharks' Hannan Skates Saturday

News: Scott Hannan (upper body) was on the ice for the team's morning skate Saturday, David Pollack of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Scott Hannan has missed the last two games with the injury and while it's a good sign that he was back on the ice, there is still no indication as to whether or not he'll be in the lineup during Saturday's game against the Predators.

Sharks' Hannan Out Against Islanders

News: Scott Hannan has an undisclosed injury and will be sidelined Tuesday against the Islanders, according to Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area.
Analysis: Scott Hannan has not seen game action since a loss to Carolina on Dec. 6. His numbers haven't sparkled this year, and his minus-4 rating over his last two games has hit him hard in the one category where he'd been making a little bit of fantasy headway.

Hannan Scores First Goal Of Season For Sharks

News: Scott Hannan scored in Tuesday's win over St. Louis, logging a season high 22:30 of ice time.
Analysis: Scott Hannan was seeing ice time with Brad Stuart out on suspension. Stuart is back now, but Dan Boyle is expected to miss some time after taking a nasty hit Tuesday. It's expected that this means Hannan will stay in the line-up at least until Boyle is back.

Hannan Back In Lineup For Sharks

News: With Brad Stuart suspended for three games, Scott Hannan finds himself back in the line-up Thursday, the San Jose Mercury News' David Pollak reports.
Analysis: Scott Hannan appears to be the seventh defenseman in San Jose now that Stuart is healthy. He'll likely get some ice time over the next three games, but you can't count on him getting regular time after Stuart's return.

Sharks' Hannan Re-Signs For One Year, $1 Million

News: Scott Hannan signed a one-year, $1 million deal to remain with the Sharks on Friday, ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Scott Hannan, who was traded to San Jose in early April, will return for his 15th NHL season. The 34-year-old scored just one point last season, however, and likely will not hold much fantasy value in 2013-14.

Hannan Shakes Off Injury In Sharks' Win

News: Scott Hannan missed about six minutes of action early in the second period of Saturday's Game 3 against the Kings after sliding face-first into the boards.
Analysis: After a brief respite, he returned to action and skated an otherwise normal complement of shifts. There's no indication that he won't be able to go in Tuesday's Game 4.
