Habs' Flynn Nets Game Winner

News: Brian Flynn scored the game-winning goal and added two assists in Montreal's 4-3 win over Ottawa in Game 1 of their playoff series.
Analysis: Brian Flynn's effort was a huge lift for the Canadiens, who were without Max Pacioretty (upper body) for the whole game and P.K. Subban (slashing, game misconduct) for half of it. The Habs have been seeking secondary scoring all season long and got it Wednesday when Flynn and Torrey Mitchell potted pucks.

Habs Activate Flynn

News: Brian Flynn replaced Devante Smith-Pelly on the third line for Saturday night's game against the Panthers. He had a couple of blocked shots and was plus-1 in 14:45 in a 3-2 overtime win over Florida.
Analysis: Brian Flynn had been a healthy scratch in seven of the previous eight games. The third line generated good offensive-zone pressure Saturday and produced the game's first goal when Lars Eller beat Roberto Luongo in the first period.

Habs' Flynn Appears To Be Healthy Scratch

News: Brian Flynn (upper body) is in line to serve as a healthy scratch for Tuesday's game against the Predators, NHL.com's Robby Stanley reports.
Analysis: Brian Flynn initially dropped out of the Habs' lineup after suffering an upper-body injury last week, but he resumed skating shortly thereafter and doesn't seem to be affected by the ailment any longer. Instead, it appears that Flynn has simply lost out to the likes of Manny Malhotra and Torrey Mitchell for duties on the Habs' fourth line, and he'll likely need both players to falter in the games to come before receiving another chance to play.

Habs' Flynn Skates Thursday

News: Brian Flynn (upper body) skated as an extra at Thursday's morning session.
Analysis: It doesn't appear that Brian Flynn will play in Thursday's game against the Hurricanes, but his return to the ice suggests his injury isn't being viewed as a major issue. He could return to the lineup Saturday versus San Jose.

Habs' Flynn Out Tuesday

News: Brian Flynn (upper body) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Panthers, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Analysis: Brian Flynn is being listed as day-to-day after he was forced out of Monday's loss to the Lightning following his first shift of the match. Manny Malhotra will reenter the lineup in his stead.

Habs' Flynn Leaves Early

News: Brian Flynn was forced to leave Monday night's loss to the Lightning with an upper-body injury, the Montreal Gazette reports.
Analysis: Brian Flynn suffered the injury during his first shift of the game and played just 20 seconds in the 4-2 loss.

Habs' Flynn Debuts

News: Brian Flynn made his Montreal debut Wednesday night, skating 11:45 in a 3-1 loss to the Ducks. He blocked two shots, had a hit and won seven of 10 faceoffs while finishing minus-2.
Analysis: Brian Flynn saw mostly fourth-line duty in his first game since being traded from Buffalo.

Sabres Deal Flynn To Habs For Pick

News: Brian Flynn was traded to the Canadiens on Monday in exchange for a 2016 fifth-round draft pick, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
Analysis: As a depth forward set to become an unrestricted free agent, Brian Flynn didn't command a high asking price from the Sabres. Even as a top-six player the last few games for Buffalo, Flynn's value was minimal, and it will probably take a bigger hit with the move to Montreal. Though he should receive a plus/minus upgrade playing for a more formidable squad, his expected presence on the Habs' third or fourth line will more than likely inhibit his offensive production. It's not yet known if Flynn will be able to join the Canadiens in time for their game Monday in San Jose.

Sabres' Flynn Finds Net In Win

News: Brian Flynn bagged a goal in Thursday's 6-3 triumph over the Canucks.
Analysis: Elevated to the Chris Stewart line Thursday with Zemgus Girgensons out indefinitely with an ankle injury, Brian Flynn was able to take advantage of the deployment with two minutes remaining in the third period, finding the back of the net for his fifth goal of the season. While the Sabres have exploded for 10 goals over their last two games, it would probably be foolish to ignore the team's offensive futility over the first five months of the season. The team is still woefully short on talented playmakers, which will more than likely inhibit his scoring opportunities in subsequent contests.

Sabres Deploy Flynn On Power Play

News: Brian Flynn will center the second power play unit for Buffalo in Tuesday's game against Montreal, reports John Vogl of The Buffalo News.
Analysis: This is a minor promotion for Brian Flynn, who averages just 41 seconds of power play time per game. In 146 games, Flynn has never scored a power play goal in his career, though his ice time has crept upwards throughout the season, from 11:42 in October to 16:52 in January. He has played more than 17 minutes in seven of his past eight games. Flynn was a point-per-game player with University of Maine so he certainly does have some offensive upside. Consider the promotion a small fantasy boost but it's clearly a wait-and-see situation. Flynn will center Matt Moulson and Drew Stafford with Josh Gorges and Rasmus Ristolainen manning the points.

Sabres' Flynn Helps Out

News: Brian Flynn tallied an assist and three shots on goal in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Flyers.
Analysis: Brian Flynn currently sits in a top-six role for the Sabres, but as a member of the league's lowest-scoring team, it won't give him much value. He's totaled a meager four goals, eight assists and a minus-8 rating over 37 games.

Sabres' Flynn Collects Two Helpers

News: Brian Flynn picked up an even-strength assist and a shorthanded helper in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Red Wings.
Analysis: A nice little game for Brian Flynn, who's managed five points over his last five contests -- that's as many as he managed in his first 21 games of the year. Despite a recent spike in ice time, the 26-year-old has quite modest fantasy upside.

Sabres' Flynn Shifts To Center

News: Brian Flynn played center between Drew Stafford and Brian Gionta during Thursday's practice, reports the Olean Times Herald.
Analysis: With only 11 forwards available, Brian Flynn played center on the team's second line. The former University of Maine standout was a goal scorer in college, but is considered a depth player in the NHL, though he's getting his chance here. The Sabres will call someone up from Rochester so don't expect Flynn to stay there for long. If Mikhail Grigorenko is called up again, Flynn will likely shift to the wing, but if right winger Joel Armia is called up Flynn will stay put.

Sabres' Flynn Has Two Points, Goes Plus-2 Monday

News: Brian Flynn finished with a goal, an assist, four shots and a plus-2 rating in Monday's victory over the Senators.
Analysis: Brian Flynn earned the game's first-star honors for notching the tying goal with less than four minutes remaining in the third period, extending the game to overtime before the Sabres emerged victorious in the shootout. It's the second multi-point game of the season for Flynn, who doesn't typically offer much on the offensive end.

Buffalo's Flynn Plays Hero In Win

News: Brian Flynn was the hero Saturday night in a 4-3 shootout win over the Canadiens. He scored the game-tying goal in the third period to force overtime and then netted the winner in the fifth round of the shootut.
Analysis: Still, he has just five points in 15 games this season, so don't get overly excited. He has a great work ethic and isn't afraid to get his nose dirty to score ugly goals. That usually only has value in deep formts.

Sabres' Flynn Scores Two Points In Win

News: Brian Flynn had a goal and an assist in a 4-1 win over the Sharks on Tuesday.
Analysis: Brian Flynn was used sparingly by head coach Ted Nolan early in the season, but has become more of a regular recently. If this offensive pace keeps up, Flynn won't be sitting out again anytime soon. The former Maine Black Bear now has four points in 11 games, a respectable total for a depth forward. Given his ability to place center or right wing, Flynn is a valuable utility player for the Sabres, though his fantasy value remains quite low. As one of the league's more gentlemanly players, he doesn't offer much in the way of peripheral stats and doesn't score enough to be considered an offensive asset.

Sabres' Flynn Nets First Of Season

News: Brian Flynn scored the game's opening goal in Sunday's victory over the Red Wings.
Analysis: Playing in just his fourth game of the season, Brian Flynn picked up his first point of the year. He should continue to see more consistent playing time going forward, but he won't light up on the score sheet, and likely won't have much value for fantasy owners.

Sabres To Dress Flynn On Saturday

News: Brian Flynn will play Saturday against Pittsburgh, reports the Olean Times Herald.
Analysis: A space opened up after Sam Reinhart was returned to the WHL, and Brian Flynn will step into his spot. Flynn is a versatile forward who can play center or the right wing, but is considered just a depth forward for the Sabres. It'll be just his third game of the season after playing 79 games last year. He has zero fantasy value though he should be a regular for the Sabres from here on out.
