Sharks Reassign Davison

News: The Sharks have reassigned Rob Davison to AHL Worcester following a long stay at the Sharks preseason camp.
Analysis: The Sharks have some depth at defense, so it's no surprise that Rob Davison will at least start the season in Worcester.

Sharks Sign Davison

News: Rob Davison signed a one-year contract with San Jose on Wednesday.
Analysis: Rob Davison is just a career AHL-NHL fringe journeyman, who could very well never see an NHL appearance again. He last showed up with the Devils in the 2009-2010 season, when he was a mere emergency backup.

Devils Waive Davison

News: The Devils waived Davison on Monday, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: If Davison passes through waivers, he'll either report to the AHL or seek employment abroad.

Devils call up Davison

News: The Devils have called up D Rob Davison from the AHL.
Analysis: Davison is a veteran of 218 NHL games who once had 230 penalty minutes in an AHL campaign. With his 18 NHL points, Davison has no Fantasy value whatsoever.

Devils place three on waivers

News: The Devils placed D Jay Leach, D Rob Davison and C Tim Sestito on waivers Tuesday, with the intention of sending them to the minors.

Davison moves on to fourth NHL team

News: The Devils signed defenseman Rob Davison to a contract Friday. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Analysis: The 29-year-old Davison totaled two assists and 51 penalty minutes in 23 games with the Canucks last season. Davison has three goals, 15 assists and 321 penalty minutes in 218 career regular-season NHL contests with San Jose, NY Islanders, and Vancouver. Davison will provided lower-line depth for New Jersey, but he is merely a flier in Fantasy leagues that reward heavily for PIM when active.

Injury alters Canucks blue line

News: Canucks defenseman Kevin Bieksa is expected to miss two weeks with a broken foot. He was hurt by a teammate's shot against Nashville on Nov. 4, but finished that game and played three more before the fracture was discovered on Thursday. "He'd been X-rayed two or three times. The X-ray was showing up nothing," coach Alain Vigneault said. "He still felt pain so yesterday we had a scan done, which showed a hairline fracture." Vigneault said veteran Rob Davison, a healthy scratch for 12 of 16 games, would take Bieksa's spot in the lineup Saturday against Toronto. The Canucks also recalled defenseman Lawrence Nycholat from a conditioning stint in the AHL on Friday.
Analysis: Nycholat and Davison are just roster depth for the Canucks right now, and until they get consistent playing time, they can't really help Fantasy owners. Continue to keep them off Fantasy rosters.

Davison back in press box

News: The Sports Xchange reports Canucks D Rob Davison, who has played two games all season, joined D Lawrence Nycholat (three games) as a healthy scratch Tuesday against the Bruins after D Sami Salo (groin) returned on Tuesday.
Analysis: Davison has zero points this season, a minus-1 rating and five penalty minutes. He has never played a full season in his career and is mostly just roster filler. Until that changes, it's safe to ignore him in Fantasy.

Davison reunites with former agent

News: Canucks GM Mike Gillis signed defenseman Rob Davison, a former client, to a one-year deal worth $560,000 on Thursday. "He's a tough, physical defenseman," Gillis said. "When you play tough teams in the West you need players that can meet that challenge and Rob is clearly one of those guys."
Analysis: The 28-year-old Davison had one goal and one assist while splitting 34 games between San Jose and the New York Islanders last season. With 195 NHL games and 270 penalty minutes the 6-foot-3 defender wasn't signed to score. Davison is nothing more than a flier in leagues that reward heavily for PIM.

Davison scores first goal of season

News: Rob Davison scored the only goal for the Islanders over their past two games as New York lost 3-1 to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday. The Islanders have lost six in a row overall and five straight at home. The Islanders took the lead on one of the longest goals of the NHL season at 13:48. Killing a penalty, Davison tried to clear the puck from his goal line. The puck was bouncing all the way, and as Vesa Toskala went to glove the puck, it took a sharp, high bounce over his glove and ended up in the net.
Analysis: The goal was Davison's first of the season and third in his career. Owned in zero percent of leagues, Davison has no Fantasy value.

Davison goes to Isles for pick

News: The San Jose Sharks sent D Rob Davison to the Islanders on Tuesday for a seventh-round pick.
Analysis: Davison was a healthy scratch more often than not for the Sharks this season and his Fantasy value is pretty much zero at this time. Continue to ignore him, even after this move.

Sharks scratch Davison again

News: Aside from being injured and unavailable essentially for the month of November, D Rob Davison has been a healthy scratch for 21 of 36 games this season. Coach Ron Wilson has experimented earlier in the season by employing Davison at forward where he could use his skating ability to forecheck on the fourth line.
Analysis: During Monday's practice, Davison found himself back on defense, but he wasn't sure if the return to his natural position is permanent. "I don't know," Davison told the San Jose Mercury News. "I've always been a defenseman. But whatever puts me on the ice." The versatile Davison has struggled mightily on offense this season and still doesn't have a point in 14 games. He has no Fantasy value when healthy.

News: Sharks D Rob Davison returned to the lineup Sunday against the Ducks after missing five games with general soreness. He played for just 2:41 and finished at even with zero points.

Davison scratched against Toronto

News: Sharks D Rob Davison (soreness) did not return to the lineup Saturday against Toronto. He has now missed the last five games and remains questionable for the next game Sunday at Anaheim.
Analysis: The versatile Davison has struggled mightily on offense this season and still doesn't have a point in 13 games. He did miss some time with a finger injury, but the move to forward has done little to spark his game. He has no Fantasy value when healthy.

News: Sharks D Rob Davison (soreness) did not return to the lineup Thursday against the Flames. He has now missed the last two games and remains questionable for Saturday's game against the Blue Jackets.

Davison sits with general soreness

News: The Sports Xchange reports Sharks F/D Rob Davison did not play Monday against the Wild. He was held out of the lineup for what coach Ron Wilson described as bumps and bruises.

R. Davison doesn't play

News: C Curtis Brown and D/F Rob Davison were healthy scratches Wednesday night in Dallas.
Analysis: Brown has zero points in five games this season and can't increase that number if he is not on the ice. Brown and Davison have little to no Fantasy value right now.

Davison makes move to forward

News: The Sports Xchange reports if moving his locker stall from one wall to another is any indication, it appears Rob Davison is making his recent position switch from defense to forward a bit more permanent. Davison is now dressing along the same side of the room with the other forwards on the team. He played several games at left wing before injuring his finger during a fight in Detroit on Oct. 26, and he was there again Wednesday night against visiting Los Angeles when he came off of injured reserve.
Analysis: Coach Ron Wilson likes the energy and forechecking Davison provides. In addition, San Jose is carrying seven defensemen, besides Davison. He still doesn't have a point in six games this season, but has spent 12 minutes in the penalty box. He is merely a low-end Fantasy flier in to use in leagues that reward heavily for PIM.

Davison resumes skating with team

News: The Sports Xchange reports Sharks D Rob Davison has resumed skating and appears close to returning. He sustained a finger injury during a fight on Oct. 27 and has missed all 11 games since.
Analysis: Davison sprained a finger on his left hand during a fight with Detroit's Aaron Downey back in late October. The reserve defenseman is scoreless in five appearances for San Jose this season. He is not worth owning in Fantasy leagues when healthy.

Davison (IR) injured during fight

News: The San Jose Sharks placed forward Ryane Clowe (knee) and defenseman Rob Davison (finger) on injured reserve Sunday. The Sharks recalled forwards Devin Setoguchi and Lukas Kaspar from their AHL affiliate in Worcester to take their place.
Analysis: Davison sprained a finger on his left hand during a fight with Detroit's Aaron Downey on Friday night. The reserve defenseman is scoreless in five appearances for San Jose this season. He is not worth owning in Fantasy leagues when healthy.

Davison plays both positions

News: The Sports Xchange notes: When Sharks coach Ron Wilson feels as if he's not getting enough grit out of his lineup, he has experimented by dressing seventh defenseman Rob Davison and putting him at forward. He did that Saturday night during the team's 3-0 win over visiting Nashville. "We need more sandpaper in the lineup," Wilson said. "We've got a few who have taken it out of their tool box. They don't have to do that anymore. If they don't like it, they can call their congressman, file a complaint and I'll hear about it eventually. ... We have guys who can do it, but they feel it's below them."
Analysis: Davison is not really worth owning outside of larger leagues at this point, despite his position changes.

News: The Sports Xchange notes: F Curtis Brown replaced Jeremy Roenick on the fourth line Thursday night against Detroit. D Rob Davison and Roenick were healthy scratches.
