Flyers' Lilja Returns To NHL Ice

News: Andreas Lilja made his first appearance since being recalled Tuesday night, doling out four hits and blocking two shots in 19:14 during a win over Boston. He also saw time on the penalty-kill unit.
Analysis: Andreas Lilja was called up from AHL Adirondack on emergency conditions after it was announced that Kimmo Timonen was done for the season with a foot injury.

Flyers Recall Lilja

News: The Flyers have recalled Andreas Lilja from AHL Adirondack.
Analysis: Andreas Lilja, who has eight points and 44 PIM in 33 AHL games to date, will give the Flyers some added blue-line depth for their last three games, but with six points in 47 games for the big club over the past two seasons, his fantasy impact has been minimal.

Flyers' Lilja Headed To Sweden After Season

News: Andreas Lilja has signed a two-year contract with a Swedish team that will not start until after the 2012-13 season, the Courier-Post's Dave Isaac reports.
Analysis: Expectations were not particularly high when Andreas Lilja signed with the Flyers in 2011, but this season he has failed to make even the smallest of impacts. He played in one NHL game and has spent most of the year with AHL Adirondack.

Flyers' Lilja Sent Down

News: Andreas Lilja was loaned to AHL Adirondack on Saturday.
Analysis: Andreas Lilja has been a consistent healthy scratch lately, and his demotion will free up a roster spot for recently recalled Erik Gustafsson.

Flyers' Lilja Recalled From AHL

News: Andreas Lilja was recalled from AHL Adirondack on Friday, Tim Panaccio of CSNPhilly.com reports.
Analysis: With Andrej Meszaros (shoulder) expected to miss a month of action, Andreas Lilja got the call. The 37-year-old Lilja put up just six points (all assists) and 34 penalty minutes in 46 games last season, so it's hard to expect much from a fantasy standpoint. He should, however, see a fair amount of ice time, probably in a pair with Bruno Gervais.

Flyers' Lilja Assigned To AHL

News: Andreas Lilja was assigned to AHL Adirondack on Friday, TSN.ca reports.
Analysis: After passing through waivers unclaimed, Andreas Lilja will head to Adirondack to start the year. The 37-year-old recorded six assists and no goals in 46 games for the Flyers last season, his first with the club.

Flyers Place Lilja On Waivers

News: The Flyers placed Andreas Lilja on waivers today according to Philly.com .
Analysis: Whether or not the 37-year-old defenseman gets through waivers remains to be seen. If he does, he will report to the Flyers' AHL affiliate in Adirondack. Either way, Andreas Lilja is borderline worthy of being on your fantasy roster. This move may be a sign that defenseman Andrej Meszaros, who is coming of Achilles tendon surgery, may start the season on the active roster.

Andreas Lilja On The Mend

News: Andreas Lilja (hip) has started conditioning workouts in the minors, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Analysis: The 37-year-old defenseman, who had hip surgery in mid-July, has been allowed to work out with Philadelphia's minor league team in Adirondack. However, due to the lockout he will not be allowed to participate in live game action.

Flyers' Lilja Out Four Months After Hip Surgery

News: Andreas Lilja will miss four months after undergoing hip surgery, reports the Swedish newspaper Helsinborgs Dagblad.
Analysis: The Flyers' D has taken a beating lately. Matt Carle left as a free agent. Chris Pronger is still out and could be done for his career. Andrej Meszaros just underwent surgery after tearing his Achilles tendon. And now Andreas Lilja. While the latter isn't counted on for offense, he is certainly a steady, creas-clearing, third-pairing guy. From a fantasy perspective, the impact will hit owners of Ilya Bryzgalov the hardest.

Lilja Out Saturday For Philadelphia

News: Andreas Lilja (shoulder) will miss Saturday's game against Montreal, PhiladelphiaFlyers.com reports.
Analysis: Andreas Lilja is considered day-to-day. Hopefully his four points on the year are something you can replace.

Lilja Active For Philadelphia Tuesday

News: Andreas Lilja (throat) will play against Florida on Tuesday, Philadelphia Daily News writer Frank Seravalli reports.
Analysis: Although Andreas Lilja will play Tuesday, it's difficult to imagine a scenario in which his three points on the year would be useful for a fantasy league.

Flyers' Lilja Out Sunday

News: Andreas Lilja (throat) will not play Sunday against Pittsburgh, Frank Seravalli of the Philadelphia Daily News reports.
Analysis: Andreas Lilja remains in the day-to-day category heading into Tuesday's game against the Panthers.

Flyers' Lilja Day To Day With Throat Injury

News: Andreas Lilja is considered day-to-day after being struck in the throat with a puck on Friday, according to a team release.
Analysis: This has more of an impact on the team than it does in fantasy as Andreas Lilja has registered just six points this season. However, his plus-6 rating and veteran presence both on and off the ice are very much needed by the Flyers. The team is hoping he won't miss much time.

Flyers' Lilja Leaves Saturday's Contest

News: Andreas Lilja left Saturday's shootout loss to the Bruins in the second period with an undisclosed injury and did not return, the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: Andreas Lilja has just six points on the season, but he carries a plus-6 rating and a decent veteran presence, a loss that would be heightened if he were out for any length of time given the Flyers are already missing Chris Pronger, Andrej Meszaros, and Pavel Kubina.

Lilja Returns To Flyers

News: Andreas Lilja (ankle) returned from his conditioning assignment Sunday, the team's official Twitter feed reports.
Analysis: He should be back in the lineup in the near future, although the 36-year-old blueliner doesn't chip in much for the fantasy categories used in standard leagues.

Flyers Lend Lilja To AHL Affiliate

News: The Flyers have loaned Andreas Lilja to AHL Adirondack on a conditioning assignment, the team's official Twitter page reports.
Analysis: Andreas Lilja has recorded three points (assists) in 20 games this season, his first with the Flyers. The 41-year-old defenseman could be back with the Flyers before the calender year's end but he doesn't hold much fantasy value.

Flyers' Lilja Skating Again

News: Andreas Lilja (ankle) has resumed skating, Tim Panaccio of CSN Philly reports.
Analysis: Andreas Lilja is about three weeks into his six-week recovery timetable, so it appears his ankle is healing as planned. He'll likely skate for a couple more weeks before being cleared for contact and ultimately returning to game action.

Flyers' Lilja Out Six Weeks With High Ankle Sprain

News: Andreas Lilja left the ice with a high ankle sprain during the second period of Friday's win over Montreal and is expected to be out for six weeks according to The Philadelphia Inquirer
Analysis: The 36-year-old defenseman isn't much of an option in fantasy having never tallied more than 15 points in a season. However, his size and toughness will be missed at the blue line. The team is hoping recent call-up Kevin Marshall can pick up the slack.

Flyers Sign Lilja Among Others

News: The Flyers signed Lilja on the opening day of free agency Friday, the Flyers' Official Site reports.
Analysis: It's reportedly a three-year deal worth $1.7 million per season. Lilja is a veteran blueliner who will round out the corps, probably on the second or third pair. He's not much of a scorer -- he's never eclipsed 15 points in a season -- but he'll add more size and toughness to an already tough squad.

Ducks' Lilja Sitting More Than Skating

News: Lilja has been in the lineup twice since Nov. 16, according to the Orange County Register.
Analysis: With the return of Andy Sutton and Luca Sbisa's improved skills, Lilja has been the odd man out. Signed as a free-agent at the beginning of the season, he filled in for the injured Sutton and went a minus-3 in 17 games. Until head coach Randy Carlyle is dissatisfied with what he's seeing, Lilja will continue to sit.

Lilja Stabilizing Ducks' Defense

News: Lilja has been a solution to the blue line issues for the Ducks this season, according to the Orange County Register.
Analysis: Head coach Randy Carlyle said, "He's a veteran guy (that) when we added him, things started getting easier for our hockey club." In 12 games with the Ducks, he has two assists and is a minus-2, and averaging 17 minutes a game as a third pairing. He is also a consummate shot-blocker with 25 and stabilizes the penalty kill.

Ducks' Lilja Obtains Visa, Placed On Active Roster

News: Lilja has been added to the Ducks' active roster, reports the Orange County Register. He could debut as soon as Sunday.
Analysis: Lilja had been ineligible to play while he obtained a new work visa. With that out of the way, his season can begin.

Lilja May Be Available for Ducks on Saturday

News: Lilja may be available for the Ducks on Saturday, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Analysis: Lilja skated with the team on Tuesday, but his visa expiration still keeps him out of competition. He has not yet received immigration clearance, but head coach Randy Carlyle said that there is "a possibility" he would be available this weekend. He also said, "That's wishful thinking, and sometimes immigration has a different timeline than we do."

New Duck Lilja Will Not Play Monday

News: Lilja, signed by the Ducks on Monday morning, is having some visa issues (Sweden) and will not play in Monday's game against the Blues, according to Lou Korac of the Alton Telegraph.
Analysis: Lilja should be aboard to help the Ducks' blue line through some injury troubles soon. The Ducks play next Wednesday against the Canucks.
