Pahlsson nets empty-net score

News: Blue Jackets C Samuel Pahlsson scored a goal and finished at plus-1 during Wednesday's game against the Panthers. Pahlsson chopped at the puck on the late faceoff, and it slid between the Florida defensemen and into the net for an empty-net score. He has two goals and one assist in his last four games.
Analysis: Pahlsson is starting to wake up a bit at the offensive end, but don't expect this hot stretch to last. Pahlsson is on the ice because he is great in the faceoff circle and a solid veteran presence. Pahlsson signing important to Jackets

News: The Sports Xchange reports the addition of C Samuel Pahlsson could be important for the Blue Jackets, who play in a Central Division that boasts some of the NHL's top centers, led by Detroit's Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg. "We're going to ask a lot of him," Blue Jackets coach Ken Hitchcock said. "He's going to get big minutes against those guys, and he's going to kill penalties for us. It's a new weapon for us." Pahlsson is likely to play with wingers Fredrik Modin and Raffi Torres.
Analysis: Pahlsson split the 2008-09 season between Anaheim and Chicago. Pahlsson totaled seven goals, 18 points and a career-worst minus-17 rating in 65 games last season.
