News: Walked was recalled from the AHL's Phantoms on Friday, the Flyers' official Twitter reports.
Analysis: Matt Walker returns to the Flyers after spending November in the AHL. He will be available to play tonight after clearing re-entry waivers. Walker has been on the bubble of the roster for almost every team he has been on since being drafted in '98. Walker played in four games with the Flyers earlier this season. He has four career goals and 26 assists.

Walker To Fill In For Pronger In Philly

News: Matt Walker will likely see an increase in ice time with Chris Pronger (eye) out for 2-to-3 weeks, Philly.com reports.
Analysis: Matt Walker hasn't played much this season, spending most his time watching from the press box or just providing depth on the bench. Pronger's injury creates an opportunity for him to show what he's got.

Walker On The Flyers' Bubble

News: Matt Walker is on the bubble of making the Flyers' roster out of training camp, Philly.com reports.
Analysis: Matt Walker's $1.9 million salary seems to be the issue here as the Flyers have a number of cheaper options in Andreas Lilja and Oskars Bartuliss. Walker is healthy his season after missing most of last year with torn labrums on both sides of his hip.

Flyers' Walker Makes Season Debut

News: Walker made his season debut in Thursday's loss to Boston, skating 13:29 and going minus-1.
Analysis: He certainly got eased back in, playing by far the fewest minutes of any Flyers defenseman in the game, which is no surprise when you consider that we thought earlier today that he'd be heading to the AHL for a conditioning stint. Either way, his game offers marginal fantasy upside except in hits, blocked shots and PIM.

Walker To Debut For Philadelphia

News: Walker (hip) will play against Boston on Thursday, PhiladelphiaFlyers.com reports.
Analysis: Walker wasn't expected to recover from his hip issue so quickly, but apparently he's on the ice. He only scored five points last year, but he did skate to a plus-seven rating the year before that.

Hip Surgery For Philadelphia's Walker

News: Walker will undergo hip surgery Thursday and could be out for four to six weeks, NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Walker's roster spot was in jeopardy anyway because of Michael Leighton's impending return, so this was probably a good time for him to undergo surgery. He'll likely be out at least until mid-January.

Flyers' Walker's Roster Spot Iffy

News: Walker (hip) is a "strong candidate" to be removed from the 23-man roster to make room for returning goaltender Michael Leighton, Philly.com.
Analysis: Walker is currently on a rehab stint with AHL Adirondack. Walker's removal from the 23-man roster would get the Flyers under the cap and at the 23-man roster limit. The Flyers are expected to make a move sometime this week.

Flyers Send Walker on Conditioning Assignment

News: Walker (hip) was assigned to AHL Adirondack on Friday to begin a conditioning assignment, the Philadelphia Daily News reports.
Analysis: Walker was expected to miss 8-to-10 weeks after undergoing surgery on October 20, but it looks like he should be able to return at the lower end of that estimate at the latest. The Flyers can keep Walker in the minors for 14 days, but he could be called up earlier if he proves he is back in game shape.

Flyers' Walker Skates Wednesday

News: Walker (hip) was on the ice for practice Wednesday, the Flyers' official site reports.
Analysis: The initial timetable was 10-12 weeks, which would keep Walker out of game action until late December. It sounds like he's progressing more rapidly than expected in his rehab, so don't be surprised if the Flyers push up his expected return date.

Flyers' Walker Requires Hip Surgery, Out 10-12 Weeks

News: Walker needs right hip surgery and will be out 10-12 weeks, CSNPhilly.com reports.

Flyers' Walker (Hip/Groin) Still Ailing

News: Walker (hip/groin) will not play against Tampa Bay, his former team, on Thursday, PhillyBurbs.com reports.
Analysis: Despite not being able to participate in any of the Flyers' three regular-season games to date, Walker has a positive attitude. "I'm just looking forward to getting healthy and getting some results on the ice," Walker said. This news means more to the Flyers than it does fantasy owners as Walker is buried on the team's depth chart.

Flyers' Walker Out with Hip/Groin Injury

News: Walker is dealing with a hip/groin injury he suffered during the preseason, the Philadelphia Daily News reports.
Analysis: Walker has missed Philadelphia's first three games this season. "Matt suffered a hip/groin injury in an early preseason game that has continued to bother him," general manager Paul Holmgren said. "He went to see a doctor today. We will not know his status until [Wednesday] at the earliest." Walker's doctor visit should reveal more information, but a team source indicated surgery could be an option.

Walker Fighting for Spot on Philly's Blueline

News: Walker is one of three Flyers defensemen fighting for two spots, according to the Philly.com.
Analysis: Walker,Sean O'Donnell and Oskars Bartulis are all in the mix for the final two spots. Walker's the highest paid of the three, meaning he'll need to make the biggest impression to make him worth the cap hit.

Walker a minus-player in return

News: Lightning D Matt Walker was back in the lineup on Tuesday against the Hurricanes after missing three games with a lower-body injury. He had no points in 17:27 of ice time and finished at minus-2.
Analysis: Walker has no points in his last nine games and is minus-11 in that span. He scored a few times in early March, but he has been stone cold ever since. It's no surprise since Walker doesn't have a ton of offensive talent. He continues to have marginal Fantasy appeal.

Walker ready for return to lineup

News: The Tampa Tribune reports that Lightning D Matt Walker (back) is expected to return to the lineup Tuesday.
Analysis: Walker has missed three games with this issue, but he has minimal Fantasy value when healthy and his presence has hardly been missed.
