Pens' Dupuis: Goals In Three Straight

News: Pascal Dupuis supplied a power-play goal and an assist in Tuesday's 8-3 win over the Devils.
Analysis: Pascal Dupuis' power-play goal over the weekend against Nashville was only his third of the last eight seasons, but he's now got two tallies on the man advantage in two games. He already has more power-play time through eight games (12:52) than he did in 39 contests last year (11:21). The 35-year-old winger has continued his bounce-back season following knee surgery, is averaging a point per game and has four points over his last three outings.

Pens' Dupuis Reaches Milestone Saturday

News: Pascal Dupuis tallied a power-play goal Saturday for just the third time in his last eight seasons.
Analysis: The Penguins have already given Pascal Dupuis almost as much power-play time (10:54) as he saw in 39 games last year (11:21). The winger's goal against Nashville represents his career 400th NHL point. Dupuis now has six points (3G, 3A) in seven games.

Pens' Dupuis Tallies First Point Since Injury

News: Pascal Dupuis potted a goal in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Red Wings.
Analysis: The winger's first-period tally marked his first point in three games since returning from the scary incident last week that resulted in him being stretchered off the ice -- Pascal Dupuis was initially credited with a goal Wednesday but a league review awarded the goal to Paul Martin on Thursday. Dupuis has played his usual minutes in the mid-teens since returning to action, and as Thursday's one-goal, four-shot performance revealed, the veteran's health doesn't seem to be a concern.

Pens' Dupuis Back In The Fold Saturday

News: Just two days after taking a stinger to the neck, Pascal Dupuis skated just under 16 minutes (15:54 TOI) against the Islanders on Saturday.
Analysis: His night was mostly uneventful -- he registered one shot and one block -- but the fact that he was able to play was remarkable in itself. Pascal Dupuis saw 1:53 TOI on the power play as coach Mike Johnston continues to utilize the forward in different ways than did former coach Dan Bylsma.

Pens' Dupuis (Arm) To Play Saturday

News: Pascal Dupuis (arm) was on the ice for pregame warmups and looks like he'll play Saturday against the Islanders, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: With the usual 20 skaters on the ice for warmups, the Penguins don't even appear to be preparing for a potential late scratch for Pascal Dupuis, signaling that he'll receive clearance to return to the lineup. Incredibly, Dupuis won't miss any games after he was stretchered off the ice Thursday night with what looked to be a serious injury.

Pens To Decide On Dupuis' Status During Afternoon

News: Pascal Dupuis (arm) said that the Penguins would reach a decision on his availability for Saturday night's tilt with the Islanders over the afternoon, Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: For the second consecutive day, Pascal Dupuis was moving around without any apparent issues at morning skate, giving him a legitimate shot at not missing any time due to the arm injury. He was skating on his usual spot on the Pens' second line, rejoining mates Evgeni Malkin and Brandon Sutter.

Pens' Dupuis: (Arm) Medically Cleared To Play

News: Pascal Dupuis (arm) has been medically cleared to play, Josh Yohe of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Analysis: Coach Mike Johnston said Pascal Dupuis would be evaluated during Saturday's morning skate, before the team determines if the winger will be available for the game later that day against the Islanders. Dupuis looked like he would be in store for a long absence after he was removed from the ice on a stretcher Thursday, so it would be quite remarkable if he wasn't forced to miss any games at all.

Pens' Dupuis Skates, But Doesn't Practice Friday

News: Pascal Dupuis (arm) skated on his own Friday, but didn't take part in the Penguins' practice, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: Even though he didn't join his teammates for full practice, merely seeing Pascal Dupuis on the ice beforehand has to bring some relief for the Penguins. The winger was stretchered off the ice during Thursday's game following a check to the back that resulted in Dupuis falling on his arm and experiencing numbness. During Friday's skate, Dupuis was able to handle and shoot the puck with no apparent issues. It still seems more likely than not that Dupuis will be held out of Saturday's game against the Islanders, but fortunately, it looks like he'll avoid a long-term absence.

Pens' Dupuis Experiencing Arm Numbness

News: Coach Mike Johnston said some of the feeling has returned to Pascal Dupuis's arm, which had gone numb after being cross-checked by Alex Goligoski on Thursday, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: It's possible Pascal Dupuis suffered some sort of nerve injury, but the Penguins coach gave no further information on the 35-year-old forward. Dupuis, who played in only 39 games last season due to a knee injury, will almost surely miss Saturday's game (and perhaps more time) though the severity of Thursday's ailment remains unknown.

Pens' Dupuis Leaves On Stretcher

News: Pascal Dupuis left Thursday's game on a stretcher in the second period, Josh Yohe of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Analysis: Pascal Dupuis was reportedly checked from behind and was hit in the head/neck area with the puck. The situation with this potentially serious injury should be updated in the near future.

Pens' Dupuis Cashes In Thursday Opener

News: Pascal Dupuis compiled his first four-point game in 10 seasons Thursday, scoring one goal while adding three assists against Anaheim.
Analysis: His goal came at even strength and a second score was disallowed. Pascal Dupuis's helpers came at even strength, short-handed and on the man advantage, respectively. The winger, who was playing in his first game since Dec. 23, 2013 after undergoing knee surgery, also saw more than two minutes on the second-unit power play (2:07 TOI). Dupuis totaled 11:21 TOI on the man advantage last season in 39 games. New head coach Mike Johnston may give Dupuis more time on the power play, given his fine performance Thursday.

Pens' Dupuis Healthy For Season

News: Pascal Dupuis appears set to serve as the right wing for Sidney Crosby heading into the regular season.
Analysis: Coach Mike Johnston sat Pascal Dupuis on Wednesday in order to give Patric Hornqvist a look with Crosby and Chris Kunitz. After the game, however, he said he simply wanted to see a right-handed shot on the line. Dupuis has fallen off the radar after missing the second half of last season, but he's two years removed from 20 goals and 38 points in 48 games. He makes for a nice, end-game sleeper pick, especially in single-season leagues.

Pens' Dupuis Plays Monday

News: Pascal Dupuis (knee) made his preseason debut Monday, going pointless with four shots on goal and four PIM.
Analysis: The 35-year-old is recovering from spring knee surgery. New head coach Mike Johnston has intimated that Pascal Dupuis might see action on the third line, but it's difficult envisioning Dupuis anywhere other than alongside Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz, at least at the beginning of 2014-15. He led Pittsburgh with 27 shifts and skated 16:28 TOI.

Pens' Dupuis Expected Back Soon

News: Pascal Dupuis (knee) is expected to play in the final two preseason games.
Analysis: Pascal Dupuis was cleared for contact earlier this week, and should get a chance to get some experience in before the regular season begins. The veteran winger only suited up for 39 games last year, collecting seven goals and 13 assists in the process.

Pens' Dupuis Ditches No-Contact Jersey

News: Pascal Dupuis (knee) wasn't wearing a red no-contact jersey during Thursday's practice.
Analysis: With Pascal Dupuis presumably cleared for full contact, it may not take long before he's able to return to preseason action. The 35-year-old will be asked to fill a depth-scoring role for the Penguins this season after he contributed 20 points in 39 games in 2013-14.

Pens' Dupuis Not Taking Contact Initially

News: Pascal Dupuis won't take contact during the initial stages of training camp, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: Though it was previously suggested that Pascal Dupuis wouldn't face any limitations entering camp, he's just a little bit behind schedule right now. He plans to begin taking contact in about a week, giving him plenty of time to get himself ready for the start of the regular season. The health of Dupuis' knee is less of a concern to fantasy players than in what capacity he might be used this season. New coach Mike Johnston has stated a preference of deploying his skaters in pairs rather than units, suggesting duty with Chris Kunitz and Sidney Crosby no longer awaits for Dupuis.

Pens' Dupuis To Take Contact During Camp

News: Pascal Dupuis (knee) is expected to receive clearance for full contact during training camp, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: The winger looks to be progressing positively from the reconstructive knee surgery that ended his most recent season prematurely, as he was skating on the ice in a red "no-contact" jersey during Wednesday's scrimmage. Pascal Dupuis likely has only a few more steps to pass in his rehab program before being cleared for full activity, but it remains undetermined where he'll fit in with the Penguins during the upcoming season. New head coach Mike Johnston prefers to use his forwards as pairs rather than traditional lines, and with the promise of working alongside luminaries Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz no longer guaranteed, Dupuis could be in line for a sharper dropoff in his point total.

Pens' Dupuis's Spot Next To Crosby Not Guaranteed

News: New head coach Mike Johnston, who prefers to group players in pairs rather than line units, has already paired Sidney Crosby with Chris Kunitz -- leaving Pascal Dupuis's spot on the unit in question, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: Recovering from knee surgery, Pascal Dupuis has been skating three or four times per week since June and figures to be ready for the season's start. In the end, Dupuis will likely see plenty of action with Crosby and Kunitz, but the new head coach could shake things up. The 35-year-old's numbers were beginning to slip last year -- he had 20 points in 39 games before getting hurt -- but he's still probably worth half a point per game once again in 2014-15.

Pens' Dupuis (Knee) Skates Wednesday

News: Pascal Dupuis (knee) skated Wednesday for the first time since undergoing knee surgery February 12 to repair his torn right ACL.
Analysis: Pascal Dupuis suffered the knee injury December 23 against Ottawa and has now progressed to the point in his rehab where he can skate. The 35-year-old hasn't reached the point of being cleared for contact yet, but believes he will be ready for training camp.

Pens' Dupuis Expected Back For Training Camp

News: Pascal Dupuis (knee) has no doubts that he'll be ready for training camp, NHL.com's Michelle Crechiolo reports.
Analysis: Pascal Dupuis saw his season come to an end in December due to an ACL tear, an injury that was projected to sideline him for six-to-eight months. He'll be nearing the seven-month mark by the time training camp takes place, but with his rehab process going well up to this point, Dupuis' prospects look encouraging.

Pens Reveal Dupuis Timeline

News: The Penguins confirmed Tuesday that Pascal Dupuis (knee) will miss the next six-to-eight months, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Analysis: When Pascal Dupuis does return, he could serve on Pittsburgh's third line, depending on what happens at the trade deadline and over the summer. Fantasy owners in keeper leagues need to know that his spot next to Sidney Crosby is not necessarily set in stone, though Dupuis has shown good chemistry with the star center.

Pens' Dupuis Undergoes Knee Surgery Wednesday

News: Pascal Dupuis (knee) had successful surgery Wednesday to repair a torn ACL, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: The Penguins haven't announced a timetable for Pascal Dupuis' recovery, but it's widely assumed he'll miss the remainder of the 2013-14 campaign. An ACL tear often isn't as career-threatening of an injury for hockey players compared to those in other sports, so there's a good chance Dupuis will return to the ice next season and remain a productive two-way forward for the Penguins. However, Dupuis' absence for the remainder of this season will likely prompt the organization to turn to the trade market after the Olympics in search of a rental forward.

Pens' Dupuis To Have Knee Surgery In February

News: Pascal Dupuis (knee) will undergo his ACL surgery on Feb. 12, Shelly Anderson of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: The fact that Pascal Dupuis won't have his surgery for another three weeks would seem to dash his slim hopes of returning in the playoffs for the Penguins. The team could be in the market for an extra forward as the trade deadline approaches to replace Dupuis as the right wing on the Sidney Crosby line.

Pens' Dupuis Likely Out For Season With Torn ACL

News: Pascal Dupuis (knee) has a torn ACL and appears likely to miss the rest of the season.
Analysis: The forward will undergo surgery in two weeks, and while an official timetable hasn't been established for his return, it appears safe to say he'll probably miss the rest of the regular season barring a miraculous recovery. Pascal Dupuis' injury is a huge blow to the Penguins' attack, but it opens the door for another player to step up onto Sidney Crosby's line and produce impressive point totals. The injury also snaps Dupuis' impressive streak of 238 consecutive regular season games played.

Penguins' Dupuis Injured Monday

News: Following Monday's game against the Senators, coach Dan Bylsma did not provide an update on the nature or severity of the injury that Pascal Dupuis suffered in the first period of the contest, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: The report notes that Pascal Dupuis, who suffered an apparent right knee injury Monday, left the ice on his own, which is somewhat encouraging, though according to teammate Sidney Crosby, Dupuis was "in some pain." The Penguins' next game is Friday, which affords Dupuis a few days to get right again.
