Pens Reveal Dupuis Timeline

News: The Penguins confirmed Tuesday that Pascal Dupuis (knee) will miss the next six-to-eight months, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Analysis: When Pascal Dupuis does return, he could serve on Pittsburgh's third line, depending on what happens at the trade deadline and over the summer. Fantasy owners in keeper leagues need to know that his spot next to Sidney Crosby is not necessarily set in stone, though Dupuis has shown good chemistry with the star center.

Pens' Dupuis Undergoes Knee Surgery Wednesday

News: Pascal Dupuis (knee) had successful surgery Wednesday to repair a torn ACL, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: The Penguins haven't announced a timetable for Pascal Dupuis' recovery, but it's widely assumed he'll miss the remainder of the 2013-14 campaign. An ACL tear often isn't as career-threatening of an injury for hockey players compared to those in other sports, so there's a good chance Dupuis will return to the ice next season and remain a productive two-way forward for the Penguins. However, Dupuis' absence for the remainder of this season will likely prompt the organization to turn to the trade market after the Olympics in search of a rental forward.

Pens' Dupuis To Have Knee Surgery In February

News: Pascal Dupuis (knee) will undergo his ACL surgery on Feb. 12, Shelly Anderson of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: The fact that Pascal Dupuis won't have his surgery for another three weeks would seem to dash his slim hopes of returning in the playoffs for the Penguins. The team could be in the market for an extra forward as the trade deadline approaches to replace Dupuis as the right wing on the Sidney Crosby line.

Pens' Dupuis Likely Out For Season With Torn ACL

News: Pascal Dupuis (knee) has a torn ACL and appears likely to miss the rest of the season.
Analysis: The forward will undergo surgery in two weeks, and while an official timetable hasn't been established for his return, it appears safe to say he'll probably miss the rest of the regular season barring a miraculous recovery. Pascal Dupuis' injury is a huge blow to the Penguins' attack, but it opens the door for another player to step up onto Sidney Crosby's line and produce impressive point totals. The injury also snaps Dupuis' impressive streak of 238 consecutive regular season games played.

Penguins' Dupuis Injured Monday

News: Following Monday's game against the Senators, coach Dan Bylsma did not provide an update on the nature or severity of the injury that Pascal Dupuis suffered in the first period of the contest, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: The report notes that Pascal Dupuis, who suffered an apparent right knee injury Monday, left the ice on his own, which is somewhat encouraging, though according to teammate Sidney Crosby, Dupuis was "in some pain." The Penguins' next game is Friday, which affords Dupuis a few days to get right again.

Pens' Dupuis Snapping Out Of Slump

News: Pascal Dupuis scored his second goal and third point in four games Friday.
Analysis: Pascal Dupuis has slumped badly after the first 10 games of the season but seems to be coming around. He makes for a good trade target, as his all-around play gives hope for a rebound. The winger has nine shots, seven hits and four blocked shots in his last two games.

Pens' Dupuis Present During Morning Skate

News: Pascal Dupuis (lower body) participated during Saturday's morning skate, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: All signs point to a return to the lineup Saturday for Pascal Dupuis, but coach Dan Bylsma has yet to commit to his availability. It should be evident during pregame line rushes whether or not the winger with suit up Saturday.

Pens' Dupuis In Lineup Saturday

News: Pascal Dupuis (lower body) will play Saturday against the Bruins.
Analysis: Pascal Dupuis wasn't skating especially fluidly during pregame warmups, but well enough to draw back into the lineup without having to miss any action. He'll be slotted back in at right wing on Sidney Crosby's line.

Pens' Dupuis To Travel With Team

News: Pascal Dupuis (lower body) will travel with the Penguins to Boston for Saturday's game, Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: The Penguins are considering Pascal Dupuis questionable for Saturday's game, with coach Dan Bylsma likely to decide on his availability at some point between morning skate and pregame warmups. With Evgeni Malkin already being ruled out for Saturday, the Penguins would have to significantly reshuffle their lines if another member of their top-six were to miss action.

Pens' Dupuis Nursing Lower-Body Injury

News: Pascal Dupuis sustained a lower-body injury in Thursday's win over the Sharks and was absent from practice Friday.
Analysis: Pascal Dupuis potted a goal less than 30 seconds into the game Thursday but succumbed to the injury soon thereafter, seeing just 7:51 of ice time. The severity of the injury isn't completely clear, but with three forwards on DL and Evgeni Malkin also day-to-day with an injury, even a minor ailment for a Dupuis becomes a concern for the Penguins.

Dupuis' Numbers Down For Pens

News: Pascal Dupuis was held pointless for the fifth straight game Saturday and finished November with three points (1G, 2A) in 15 games.
Analysis: Pascal Dupuis scored 38 points in 48 contests last year, but his numbers are down in 2013-14 -- three goals and 13 points in 28 games. Surprisingly, his ice times are up despite his production woes. In 2012-13, Dupuis averaged 14:46 TOI (even-strength), 1:55 (short-handed) and 0:48 (power play). This year, he's skating 16:22, 1:58 and 0:12 TOI in similar circumstances. The Pens are playing well with Dupuis on Sidney Crosby's line, giving the right winger time to improve on his numbers.

Dupuis Moved To Pens' Second Line

News: The Penguins moved Pascal Dupuis to their second line with Evgeni Malkin and James Neal for Monday's game-day skate.
Analysis: Pittsburgh has slumped offensively and Pascal Dupuis has one goal in his last 14 games. So long as he remains a top-six forward with Pittsburgh, Dupuis has offensive upside despite not skating on the Pens' power play.

Turnaround Ahead For Pens' Dupuis?

News: Pascal Dupuis snapped a 12-game goalless slump Friday, netting his third goal of the year against the Predators.
Analysis: The score was a typical Pascal Dupuis goal when he's going good - a slap shot from above the left circle. The winger has 12 points in 19 games, but only three in his last 11. Friday could be the start of an uptick, given the way Dupuis scored on one of his favorite shots.

Duper Not Super For Pens On Saturday

News: Pascal Dupuis has two assists in nine games after going pointless Saturday in St. Louis.
Analysis: His playing status was in doubt during the week with an undisclosed injury, but the forward took regular shifts on the Sidney Crosby line Saturday. Pascal Dupuis registered 26 hits in his first 10 games, but has only four hits in seven games since -- a tell-tale sign that the forward might not be totally healthy.

Pens' Dupuis Confirms He'll Play Saturday

News: Pascal Dupuis (undisclosed) confirmed he'd play Saturday vs. the Blues, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: This was the assumption after Pascal Dupuis was able to return to practice Friday with no apparent issues. With 11 points and a plus-5 rating through 16 games, Dupuis has performed at the level that was more of less expected of someone on a line with Sidney Crosby.

Pens' Dupuis Participates In Practice

News: Pascal Dupuis (undisclosed) participated in Friday's practice, Shelly Anderson of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: Coach Dan Bylsma said Pascal Dupuis was held out for a maintenance day Thursday, and his return to the ice more or less confirms as much. All signs point to Dupuis suiting up for Saturday's game vs. the Blues, but we'll keep an eye out for any issue that may arise during morning skate.

Pens' Dupuis Sits Out Practice Thursday

News: Pascal Dupuis (undisclosed) did not practice Thursday, Josh Yohe of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Analysis: On a fortunate note, Pascal Dupuis was present for Thursday's session wearing street clothes and the indications are that his injury is not significant. It's not certain at this time if Dupuis will be able to play Saturday vs. the Blues, but it at least looks like he'll avoid injured reserve for now.

Dupuis Taking Shots For Pens

News: Pascal Dupuis led Pittsburgh with five shots on goal and registered four hits Tuesday against Carolina.
Analysis: He has two assists in the first three games and is playing well alongside Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz. Pascal Dupuis had a goal disallowed Tuesday due to a kicking motion which the review team in Toronto probably could've ruled on either way. The winger is set for another big season with the Pens.
