Analysis: Sidney Crosby still sits on the top with 56 points, but Mighty Mite is inching his way up. Not bad for a guy who'll turn 38 in June. The old man still has the goods.

News:Martin St. Louis picked up another goal and two assists in Thursday's 5-0 win over Carolina.
Analysis: Coming into Thursday, the incredible undersized scoring machine hadn't gone two games in a row without a point all year long. News:Martin St. Louis will not be traded, according to Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman. "There's nothing you can do about (the speculation)," Yzerman said. "... [but] I think (not trading St. Louis) is what I said."

News:Martin St. Louis stretched his current point streak to three games and four points (one goal, three assists) with an assist in Friday's shootout win over New Jersey.

News:Martin St. Louis scored a goal and added an assist, both of which came on the power play, in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Sabres.
Analysis: Mighty Mite has been one of the league's most consistent point producers. He still hasn't gone more than one game without recording a point. He's fantasy gold.
News:Martin St. Louis potted a power-play assist in Sunday's loss to Winnipeg. It's his 12th power-play helper this season and 33rd overall.
Analysis: The important thing to note here is that those 12 power-play helpers came in 32 games -- last season it took him 77 to get 12 PPA. His value this season is closer to his 2010-11 season (99 points) than it is to last year's 74 points. You know what to do.
News:Martin St. Louis' assist Wednesday in a loss to Toronto was his third assist in as many games and his 32nd on the season.
Analysis: His 39 points overall put him just a hair out of the top-three scorers in the NHL. The Bolts are headed nowhere right now and we can't help but wonder if they'd consider trading him. Just a hunch, but he'd certainly fetch them a solid haul and his value on a contending team would be the same or better.
News:Martin St. Louis now has 31 assists this season after he picked up a helper in Monday's win over the Flyers.
Analysis: There's only one guy who's a better set-up man than Mighty Mite, and that's Sidney Crosby. You know what to do.

Analysis: He'd had his seven-game point streak snapped Thursday against the Isles, but he's right back on the board. News:Martin St. Louis picked up his 19th assist of the season in Saturday's win over Carolina to move into sole possession of the league lead in helpers.
Analysis: Of course he'd like more goals (he has four), but he's still in the top-five scorers in the NHL. Not bad for a 37-year-old.
News:Martin St. Louis sits tied with Sidney Crosby for the NHL lead in assists with 17. He has 21 points overall in just 14 games.
Analysis: His pace is incredible and he's on a three-game, five-point streak right now. He's been held off the scoresheet just three times in 14 games and for never more than a single game. One word: stud.
News:Martin St. Louis picked up two assists in Thursday's loss to New Jersey, giving him 16 points in 10 games on the year.
Analysis: Though he's got just three goals, Martin St. Louis' playmaking certainly hasn't suffered at all, as he's among the NHL leaders in points. Keep rolling Mighty Mite while he continues to defy old age and build his Hall of Fame credentials.
News:Martin St. Louis continued his climb toward the league scoring lead with an assist in Tuesday's victory over the Panthers. He sits third overall with 12 points (three goals, nine assists) in six games.
Analysis: There are three Bolts in the top 10 scorers, with Martin St. Louis leading the way. Unfortunately, there's absolutely no way he maintains his current pace of 96 points in 48 games. As a result, you have to look at the possibility of a sell-high trade once you forecast his remaining production.
News:Martin St. Louis set up four Tampa Bay goals Sunday in a 5-1 win over Philadelphia. Two of the assists came on the power play. He now has three goals and eight assists in five games this season.

News:Martin St. Louis is showing no signs of slowing down and is doing nothing but impress his teammates at training camp, reports the Tampa Bay Times. "He's a machine he's that little ball of fire," said captain Vinny Lecavalier. "You'd think he's 22."
Analysis:Martin St. Louis has been a model of consistency with six straight 70-point seasons and he's also been extremely durable. There are three seasons left on his current contract and while he got off to a bit of a slow start last year, we don't see that in the tea leaves for this one. He'll be pumped to fly. Expect another excellent season.
Bolts' St. Louis Worried About Long Lockout Hurting Career
News:Martin St. Louis is fearful that a long lockout will hurt his career, reports the Tampa Times.
Analysis: He's still critical to the Bolts' success, but at 37, he knows his time in the league is limited and that playing helps keep his physical gifts from deteriorating. "I don't want to just fade away," Martin St. Louis said. "I don't think that's me. I've always been a big part of the teams I'm on. I want to go out that way." He will turn to Europe if he has to, but only if he wants to pay up to $70,000 a month for his insurance.

However, if no progress is made soon in the lockout, he'll jet overseas for some competitive ice time.
Bolts' St. Louis Will Head To Europe If Locked Out
News:Martin St. Louis will play in Europe this season if the NHL locks out its players for an extended period, reports the St Petersburg Times.
Analysis: "With my age, you want to keep playing," the 37-year-old winger said. "I don't want to take a year off. If the NHL wants to shut us down, we'll go play somewhere else." He added that he expects to be playing in Europe by mid October because "if it gets to October, it usually means (a lockout) will go longer." Our only concern is the injury risk -- a prolonged recovery at his age would seriously diminish his fantasy value.
News:Martin St. Louis picked up two assists in Saturday's win over the Islanders, putting his scoring total to 66 points on the season.
Analysis: Nice burst -- he had gone three games without registering a point. And he hadn't scored a multi-point game since February 26. He does have 66 points in 68 games and that's good enough to warrant a recurring activation.
News:Martin St. Louis stretched his point streak to four games and seven points with an assist in Saturday's OT win over Carolina.
Analysis: He has three goals and four assists in that span and 61 points in 60 points this season. He should deliver fantasy goodness for his owners until season's end.
News:Martin St. Louis picked up an assist Friday. It extended his point streak to three games and six points (three goals, three assists).
Analysis: The line of Martin St. Louis, Steven Stamkos and Teddy Purcell has been white hot since their unification. This is a trio that should continue to produce to season's end and could stick for next season.

News:Martin St. Louis scored a hat trick and added an assist in Sunday's win over New Jersey.
Analysis: He factored in all four Bolts' goals. He had been relatively quiet since his last trick on February 4 -- he had just three goals and two helpers in his previous 10 games. But he was reunited on a talent-heavy line with Steven Stamkos and Teddy Purcell, and it gave him and his team a real lift. He now has 58 points (22, 36) in 57 games.
News:Martin St. Louis was reunited with Vinny Lecavalier on Jan. 17 and the two have combined for nine goals and 14 assists.
Analysis: Mighty Mite is the stick that stirs the drink in Tampa and he was instrumental in Vinny's Rocket Richard Trophy win years ago. He has been the hottest of the two since the reunion -- try six goals and seven helpers.
News:Martin St. Louis sniped a hat trick in Saturday's win over the Panthers. The goals extend his point streak to nine games (six goals, 10 assists).
Analysis: He has been on an incredible run since his return Dec. 21 from that awful facial injury. He has played in 19 games and has been held off the scoresheet just three times. And he has 27 points (seven goals, 20 assists) in that span. Hot really doesn't describe, does it?

News:Martin St. Louis' scoring rampage continued Tuesday when he scored a goal and added an assist to extend his point streak to seven games and 12 points.
Analysis: He has three goals and nine assists in those seven games and has goals in three straight. His goal was a thing of beauty -- his speed turned the Caps' defender inside-out at the blue line and he blew past as the defender tripped over his feet. He then stripped Tomas Vokoun of his jock and his dignity, and stuffed the puck home. Mighty Mite now has 45 points in 44 games.
News:Martin St. Louis' point streak stands at six games and 10 points after he scored a goal and added a power-play assist Tuesday in a win over the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: He has two goals and eight helpers in those six games and has moved into the league's top-10 assist men. And that's after missing six games with facial fractures. He's one of the best -- use accordingly.

News:Martin St. Louis, who picked up two assists Friday, still has blurry vision in his left eye and it may be permanent, reports Tampa Bay Times.
Analysis:Martin St. Louis' left eye filled with blood when he was hit with that puck Dec. 8. "It's been tough for him to find out the inside of his eye might stay the way it is now and the fact that he doesn't have the same vision, which is his No. 1 asset," Bolts' Guy Boucher said. "It has annoyed him." St. Louis hasn't spoken about his eye and the Bolts' team trainer Tommy Mulligan says it's too early to say if the winger's vision loss will be permanent. His contact prescription has been updated to accommodate the injury. The blurriness has not affected his production.
News:Martin St. Louis powered a third-period comeback with two late assists Tuesday against Vancouver to help force the game to a shootout. Tampa ultimately lost 5-4.

News:Martin St. Louis had his eight-game scoring streak snapped Thursday by the Senators in a 4-1 loss.
Analysis: He rattled one off the posts early in the third but it stayed out. The streak had stretched for six games since his return from injury and two prior.

Tampa's St. Louis: Three Assists And Seven-Game Streak
News:Martin St. Louis, who finished with three helpers, recorded his 500th career assist in Saturday's win over Carolina.
Analysis: He just happened to set up every one of Steven Stamkos' three markers. Mighty Mite is on a seven-game, 10-point scoring streak in which he has three goals and seven assists. And he's still sporting that full cage to protect broken bones in his face. He's one tough little guy.

News:Martin St. Louis (face) was a surprise activation Wednesday night against San Jose. He played over 20 minutes and scored his 10th goal of the season.

News:Martin St. Louis (face) returned to practice Tuesday, The Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: The facial injury, which was cause by a puck to the left eye, kept Martin St. Louis out for the past two weeks. St. Louis traveled with the Bolts to San Jose, where they will play Wednesday.
Lightning's St. Louis Working Out, But Not Skating
News:Martin St. Louis (face) has resumed off-ice workouts, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: The blood clot in Martin St. Louis' eye is gone, which allowed him to exercise for an hour Friday. Though he is making progress, St. Louis is not sure when he will be able to return to the ice. Expect him to remain sidelined for at least another week or so.
News: Head coach Guy Boucher says he is not expecting Martin St. Louis (facial and nasal fractures) until after Christmas, at the earliest, according to the Tampa Tribune.
Analysis:Martin St. Louis can't even begin to think about a return until the blood dissipates. There's some ambiguity as to whether the Lightning have placed St. Louis on IR, as trusted sources across the hockey landscape have him listed in different fashions, some as "IR," others as "Out Indefinitely" and some even as "Day-to-Day." Since it's coming right from his coach that Christmas looks like the best-case scenario, we'll go with the middle category of greater than one week. Look for official word from the team if an IR designation would allow you to make a move in your league.
News:Martin St. Louis (facial and nasal fractures) has been placed on injured reserve retroactive to December 9, according to a report by Damian Cristodero of the St. Petersburg Times.
Analysis: With the fractures suffered he may be out weeks, but knowing Martin St. Louis, he will be back out there sooner than anyone would imagine. The move to IR makes sense with Brett Connolly also being released to play in the World Juniors.
News:Martin St. Louis (facial and nasal fractures) did not return to Tampa on Friday and instead spent the day at his home in Connecticut, reports Damian Cristodero of the St. Petersburg Times.
Analysis: We'd avoid traveling in a pressurized airplane cabin, too, if we had nasal fractures. He is slated to travel Saturday but the team has announced that even his travel status is day-to-day.

St. Louis spent Thursday night in hospital accompanied by team trainer Tommy Mulligan and is scheduled to return to Tampa on Friday. Team doctors will re-evaluate him once the swelling goes down. The injury ended his ironman streak at 499 games. Get him on your bench and expect this to keep him out for weeks.
News:Martin St. Louis left the Madison Square Garden ice Thursday morning bleeding from his left eye area after a teammate backhanded a shot into his face during practice, the Lightning's official site reports. He was taken to a nearby hospital for examination and is unlikely to play Thursday night against the Rangers.
Analysis: Just really bad luck for the skilled forward, who had been set to play in his 500th consecutive game. The Lightning say they'll have an update on his status ahead of game time, but consider Martin St. Louis doubtful for now.
News:Martin St. Louis is out indefinitely with multiple facial fractures after taking a puck to the face in practice on Thursday, reports TSN.ca.
Analysis: He was hit near the left eye by a Dominic Moore shot wide of the net. He left the ice bleeding and will return immediately to Tampa Bay for further medical examination. News:Martin St. Louis posted his second goal in as many nights, scoring the Lightning's only goal in Tuesday's 5-1 loss to the Islanders.
Analysis:Martin St. Louis has been steady the last two weeks, scoring four goals over the last six games. Surprisingly, it's his assist numbers that have been lacking, as Mighty Mite has none in the last six games. Expect those to come steadily as the Lightning aim to bounce back from a five-game losing streak.
News:Martin St. Louis snagged his eighth goal of the season in Monday's loss to Ottawa.
Analysis: After a relatively long goal drought just after the season's start, Mighty Mite has tallied three in his last five games. He continues to be pacing well below his outputs from recent seasons but the Bolts are slumping. It may just be a matter of a few more wins to slingshot him back to this point(plus)-per-game pace.
News:Martin St. Louis scored a power-play goal Wednesday against Detroit.
Analysis: He had a strong night -- his speed and vision are among the league's best. After a sluggish goal-scoring start, he has four in his last eight games and should be in your lineup every night.
News:Martin St. Louis finished Monday's loss to Minnesota a minus-3 with no shots on goal, snapping a two-game points streak.
Analysis: Based on his recent production and Tampa Bay's potential to be one of the East's top teams, we can consider Monday's game a rarity for Mighty Mite. He had three points heading into Monday's game and he was one of the unfortunate six skaters on the ice for Minnesota's empty-netter.
News:Martin St. Louis scored a goal in the Lightning's 5-1 win over the Panthers on Saturday night. It was his 300th career goal.
Analysis: The Bolts are starting to look more like last year's squad (goaltending aside, of course) and that means we'll soon be seeing more points from Mighty Mite. Three hundred goals is pretty impressive for a guy who was essentially kicked to the curb earlier in his career. Congrats.
News:Martin St. Louis set up both Lightning goals in a 2-1 OT win over the Panthers.
Analysis: He's been playing strong hockey of late but funny enough, he hadn't picked up an assist in six games prior to Friday. He's still a stud but this year, we may be witnessing the impact of 36 candles on his birthday cake. Watch this carefully.
News:Martin St. Louis scored his fifth goal of the season and skated a whopping 27:26 in Saturday's loss to New Jersey.
Analysis: Mighty Mite was clearly the best Bolt on the ice on Saturday night. He has 16 points in 19 games.
News:Martin St. Louis scored his first goal in nine games in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Jets.
Analysis: We thought he'd started a little slowly last year but this makes that look like the Daytona 500. Four goals in 17 games isn't even a 20-goal pace. He has averaged over 30 goals a season since the lockout but he is 36 years old. We expect a bounceback but there could be a small decline overall this season. You might get him for 90 cents on the dollar from a panicked owner.
News:Martin St. Louis stretched his point streak to three games and five points with an assist in Sunday's game.
Analysis: He has 10 points in eight games and points in seven of those contests. This helper came while skating with Steven Stamkos again. No guarantees it'll continue but those two are electric together.
News:Martin St. Louis set up three goals in Friday's 5-4 OT win over Chicago. One of the assists came on the power play.
Analysis: It's the first time he picked up a power-play point since opening night. The Bolts have been struggling with the man advantage this season -- they're in the bottom half with 15.8 percent, well below last year's sixth-best PP in the league (20.5 percent). It has to get better and that means Mighty Mite's multi-categorical value will improve, too.
News:Martin St. Louis had three assists for Tampa Bay on Friday night in the 5-4 overtime win over Chicago.
Analysis:Martin St. Louis earned second star honors on the night. His third and final assist occurred on the game-winning goal in overtime by teammate Vincent Lecavalier. The three point night now evens St. Louis' point total with his games played (13).
News:Martin St. Louis picked up an assist Tuesday. He has six points in his last six games.
Analysis: He set up Brett Connolly on his first NHL goal; it's something the kid will remember forever. Mighty Mite has 10 points in 12 games this season, a pace that would deliver him just 68 points this season. We expect this slowish start is simply a readjustment phase back to skating with Vinny as opposed to Stammer. The six in six is a good sign -- we expect bigger things soon particularly on the power play. Just one of his points has come there and he's usually a PP monster.
News:Martin St. Louis was given a maintenance day and did not practice Monday, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: He shouldn't miss any additional time as a result, but it's worth noting just in case there's an undisclosed minor ailment in play.
News:Martin St. Louis scored and added an assist in Saturday's 3-0 win over Buffalo.
Analysis: Interestingly enough, his ice time was only 16:22 as coach Guy Boucher chose to roll all four lines with relative regularity. Mighty Mite gets the job done no matter the ice time -- use him with confidence.
News:Martin St. Louis switched from Steven Stamkos' line to Vinny Lecavalier's on Thursday night and picked up an assist. He now has five points in seven games.
Analysis: All three men were off to sluggish starts (come to think about it, everyone except Marc-Andre Bergeron was, too). And the line shuffle resulted in three goals and seven points between the two newly-formed top lines against the Isles. Martin St. Louis has been the straw that has stirred the success of both Lecavalier and Stamkos, so this shuffle shouldn't diminish his output in any way.
News:Martin St. Louis was held off the scoresheet Monday against the Capitals. It broke his 11 regular-season game point streak (dating back to last year).
Analysis: Mighty Mite is a stud -- he'll be on another streak before long.

Analysis: Vinny Lecavalier poked it ahead and Mighty Mite broke in alone on Tim Thomas. It's Martin St. Louis' second goal of the season
News:Martin St. Louis scored a goal and an assist to help lead the Lightning to a 5-1 win over the Hurricanes on Friday night.
Analysis: The helper came on the power play and he also finished plus-1 with a minor penalty, too. Mighty Mite may be 36 years old but he has plenty left in the tank for another near-100 point performance.
News:Martin St. Louis set up two goals Thursday against Montreal.
Analysis: He's in fine form already. Draft with confidence -- he should come close to 30 goals and 90-plus points again this season.
News:Martin St. Louis and Steven Stamkos could have a new linemate, at least at times at even strength, in newcomer Ryan Shannon. They've also had rookie Brett Connolly with them at times this preseason.
Analysis: Coach Guy Boucher really likes the thought of putting the speed demon Shannon with those two and it has been a fruitful trio in the preseason. It may not last -- Shannon is only a hair taller than Mighty Mite himself. But speed burns and Shannon should help create chaos for Martin St. Louis. We're expecting big things from Mighty Mite this year; draft accordingly.
News: St. Louis took home another Lady Byng Trophy on Wednesday as the player who best combines talent and sportsmanship. It's the second straight year he has brought home the award.

News: St. Louis scored a goal and added an assist in Wednesday's Game 4 series clinching win over Washington.
Analysis: He's on a three-game scoring streak and has 13 points in 11 games. He brings it every single game and will enjoy a few extra nights of rest while the team waits for the winner of Boston-Philly.
News: St. Louis scored a goal and added an assist in Sunday's Game 2 win over the Capitals.

Bolts' St. Louis Skates with Stamkos not Lecavalier
News: St. Louis skated with Steven Stamkos -- and not Vinny Lecavalier -- in the Lightning's first game of the season.
Analysis: There were suggestions during camp that new coach Guy Boucher would reunite Mighty Mite and Vinny at even strength. But last year's productive trio of St. Louis, Stamkos and Steve Downie skated together almost exclusively in Saturday's win over the Thrashers. While they didn't hit the scoresheet at even strength, they created plenty of chances. Expect a point-per game pace for St. Louis in this combo.

St. Louis scored his second goal of the game 29 seconds into overtime and the Lightning stopped a five-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday. "We're going to play it out and play it hard," St. Louis said. "It's a tough go coming to work when you're in the slide that we were. Now we win a game, the guys feel good about themselves." St. Louis skated into the Hurricanes' zone from center ice, made a backhand pass to himself past Carolina defenseman Brett Carson and then beat goalie Manny Legace with a wrist shot. "He's one of the special players and has the ability to do special things like that," Legace said. "It was a great move."
Analysis: St. Louis had to make it up to the Lightning and Fantasy owners on Tuesday as he hadn't scored in seven games before his two-goal outburst. St. Louis has been a multi-point threat in 2009-10 and has really gelled on a line with Steven Stamkos and Steve Downie. It's a shame he was left off the Canadian Olympic team, but St. Louis remains a must-start Fantasy option.

It looks like he'll be fine for Fantasy Week 21 (March 8-14), but hopefully we'll get some more concrete news before Monday evening's deadline. If we don't, then he'll have to be considered a slightly risky start in all formats. When healthy, St. Louis is an elite Fantasy forward.

In that eight-game span, St. Louis has scored nine goals, including two consecutive two-goal games. He has nine goals and five assists during his scoring streak.
Analysis: We don't know what has gotten into St. Louis. He has been a scoring machine since January. He has 14 goals and 25 points in his last 19 games. We figure the Olympic snub has a lot to do with St. Louis turning the corner. However, he has also found great chemistry with Steven Stamkos and Steve Downie. Keep St. Louis active in all Fantasy formats.

News:Martin St. Louis scored a power-play goal with 9.8 seconds left in overtime to give the Tampa Bay Lightning a 3-2 comeback victory over Toronto on Thursday night. After the Maple Leafs received a penalty for too many men on the ice with 43.1 seconds left, St. Louis scored the winner from the top of the left circle. He has a season-high five goals in 10 January games.
Analysis: It's been great to see St. Louis finally become a scoring threat after he mostly made contributions as a passer in the first few months of the season. St. Louis is one of the most unheralded skaters in the NHL, but he simply gets the job done for the Lightning and Fantasy owners.

News: The Tampa Bay Lightning are going to have to wait a little longer to end their 10-game losing streak against the New Jersey Devils. How long? Nobody really knows after the Devils-Lightning game was suspended Friday night when a lighting problem on one side of the arena could not be fixed. The teams waited almost two hours before the league decided to suspend the game with the Lightning leading 3-0 with 9:12 left in the period. "We felt the teams could not continue playing," said Colin Campbell, the NHL's senior executive vice president of hockey operations. "We tried for an hour and 52 minutes to restore power and appropriate lighting, but were left with no alternative but to postpone further play for the evening." The game will resume at the point where play was stopped. Lightning coach Rick Tocchet wanted the game to resume Sunday, provided the building was available. "I think we got a five-minute power play, too," Tocchet quipped. Devils president and general manager Lou Lamoriello said a circuit breaker at three-year-old Prudential Center went down during the second period. The teams went to their locker rooms after initially waiting about 10 minutes for the lights to come back on. Lamoriello said arena personnel turned up the LED lights on the scoreboard to provide more light, but there were too many shadows for play to continue. "Safety has to come first," said Lamoriello, who said he was in constant contact with the league during the problem.
Analysis: The teams could not afford to wait much longer for a decision on Friday, as the Devils play in Montreal and the Lightning are in Philadelphia on Saturday night. The last time an NHL game was postponed was on Nov. 22, 2005, when Detroit defenseman Jiri Fischer had a seizure on the bench in the first period of a game against the Nashville Predators.
