Cats' Bjugstad Exits Early Tuesday

News: Nick Bjugstad was removed from Tuesday's loss to the Maple Leafs in the third period after being struck by the puck, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports. Coach Gerard Gallant indicated after the game that Bjugstad was OK, and just had the wind knocked out of him.
Analysis: Nick Bjugstad's removal from the game was overshadowed by the Panthers' drama in goal, as both starter Roberto Luongo and Al Montoya were forced to exit the game at various points due to injury. Fortunately, it appears Bjugstad was able to avoid any significant pain, so the expectation is that he'll be back in the fold for Thursday's game against the Stars. His availability should be affirmed following the Panthers' gameday skate.

Cats' Bjugstad Back On Scoresheet

News: Nick Bjugstad snapped a five game pointless drought Saturday, finding twine for his 22nd goal of the season in a win over the Sabres.
Analysis: The big center also skated just 12:38 in the matinee -- over four minutes lower than his TOI average this season -- so perhaps coach Gerard Gallant was sending him a message after a run of poor play. If that was indeed the case, it looks like it worked, as he also blasted seven shots on goal. Nick Bjugstad continues to lead the Panthers in goals (22), points (37), SOG (183), power-play points (11) and game-winning goals (three). Add all that to his 36 PIM -- which is fourth on the team -- and you've got a real fantasy asset on your hands in nearly every format.

Panthers' Bjugstad In A Rough Patch

News: Nick Bjugstad posted a minus-2 with one shot on goal in Thursday night's 3-0 loss to the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Nick Bjugstad started February on fire with seven points in his first nine games of the month including a stretch with four goals in five games. However, the past five games have not been as kind to the 22-year-old. Bjugstad has only taken 11 shots on goal and has posted a minus-7 plus/minus, dragging his plus/minus for the season to minus-9. He still leads the team in points (36) and goals (21), but will need to regain his scoring form for the already light-scoring Panthers.

Panthers' Bjugstad Good To Go

News: Nick Bjugstad was believed to be dealing with an injury, but he is apparently good to go Sunday, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
Analysis: An earlier report indicated Nick Bjugstad was ailing from something which may have led to the recall of Vincent Torcheck, but that apparently is not be the case. Bjustad is fine, and should be good to go for Sunday's contest.

Panthers' Bjugstad Dealing With Injury

News: Nick Bjugstad is reportedly suffering from an undisclosed injury, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.
Analysis: Nick Bjugstad's status for Sunday's game is likely in question, as the Panthers recalled Vincent Trocheck from AHL San Antonio. It's unclear exactly what the injury is, but he should receive an update at some point Sunday confirming whether or not he will play. The injury comes at an unfortunate time for Bjugstad, as he was riding a hot streak recently, netting four goals over a five-game period.

Panthers' Bjugstad Stays On A Roll

News: Nick Bjugstad scored a power-play goal in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: Nick Bjugstad netted his fourth goal in give games and now has seven points in the month of February. His 21 goals and 15 assists puts him only two points shy of last season's total, making him a good candidate to reach 50-points this season. If Bjugstad is available in your league, you should get to your waiver wire immediately while he stays on this hot streak.

Panthers' Bjugstad Stays Hot In Loss

News: Nick Bjugstad registered a goal and seven shots in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Blues.
Analysis: Nick Bjugstad has had a great month so far and has now found the back of the net in four of the past six games. His 20 goals are already his personal best, but the 22-year-old is just three points away from matching last season's total of 38 points and could reach the 50-point plateau.

Panthers' Bjugstad Scores Lone Goal In Loss

News: Nick Bjugstad netted his third goal in four games in Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Wild.
Analysis: Nick Bjugstad is heating up again in February, accumulating three goals and two assists over his last five games. The 22-year-old, who leads the Panthers in goals and points this season, is just four points off his 2013-14 total of 38.

Panthers' Bjugstad Connects For Two Scores Tuesday

News: Nick Bjugstad set up two goals in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Islanders.
Analysis: Nick Bjugstad was able to get back on track offensively after failing to log any points in the previous three games. He remains on pace to eclipse 50 points this season.

Two Power-Play Points For Panthers' Bjugstad

News: Nick Bjugstad picked up a goal and an assist -- both on the man advantage -- in Tuesday's loss to Detroit.
Analysis: The marker snapped a seven-game goalless streak for Nick Bjugstad. While his 29 points in 45 games aren't mind-blowing, pretty much all of Bjugstad's numbers have improved over last season, so the 22-year-old is making terrific progress. He'll clear 50 points this year, and next year could be huge.

Panthers' Bjugstad Picks Up Two Points

News: Nick Bjugstad scored and added an assist in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Capitals.
Analysis: Nick Bjugstad is heating up with five points in his last five contests, scoring in three of his last four. The 22-year-old has 24 points and should break last year's career-best mark of 38 and could approach the 50-point plateau by the end of the season.

Cats' Bjugstad Snipes 14th Friday

News: Nick Bjugstad fired home his 14th goal of the season in Friday's 2-0 shutout of the Sabres.
Analysis: Nick Bjugstad has found twine twice in the last three games after a seven-game goalless drought. Curiously, he only skated 13:23 in this one, but with nothing surfacing about any potential issues or injuries, it's plausible that head coach Gerard Gallant with just tinkering with his lines against a punchless opponent in the Sabres. Nonetheless, Bjugstad is just two goals off his career high of 16 from his sophomore season last year and is one of the most exciting young centers in the league on a drastically improved Panthers squad.

Panthers' Bjugstad Sign Six-Year Deal

News: Nick Bjugstad signed a six-year deal worth $4.1 million per season on Tuesday, the Miami Herald's George Richards reports.
Analysis: On the same day he agreed to terms on the contract, Nick Bjugstad scored his team-leading 13th goal to help the Panthers force overtime. He led Florida in scoring with 38 points as a rookie last season. The University of Minnesota graduate was set to be a restricted free agent following the season, but clearly the Panthers wanted to lock him up for the rest of the decade.

Cats' Bjugstad Stays Hot Friday

News: Nick Bjugstad chipped in an assist in Friday's 3-2 shootout victory over the Red Wings, extending his point streak to four games.
Analysis: The big man also blasted another five shots on goal and has picked up seven points over the last four games. With 19 points in 27 games, Nick Bjugstad leads the Panthers in scoring and not only has he officially reached "breakout" status this year, but he should also be owned in all leagues. Look for another strong game Saturday against Buffalo.

Panthers' Bjugstad Lights Lamp Monday

News: Nick Bjugstad scored for the third straight game Monday, blowing a second-period shot past Martin Brodeur in a 4-2 loss to St. Louis.
Analysis: That's six points in the last three games for the big centerman, who is now tied for the team lead in scoring with rookie blueliner Aaron Ekblad (18 points each). Nick Bjugstad has fired off 71 shots this year to go with 14 PIM and a surprising plus-3 rating as well, making him a very relevant fantasy option in all leagues. Use him well.

Bjugstad Nets Winner For Florida

News: Nick Bjugstad scored a goal -- the game winner -- and added an assist in Saturday's 3-2 victory over Buffalo.
Analysis: He has five points, including three goals in his last two games. He's on pace to tally more than 50 points this season, but more importantly, he's currently sitting with a plus-rating -- that's a huge swing in his two-way game, considering he finished minus-14 last season. Dominance is in his future.

Three-Point Night For Panthers' Bjugstad

News: Nick Bjugstad snapped a three-game slump with two goals (one on the power play) and an assist in Thursday's 4-3 shootout loss to Columbus.
Analysis: He was near-singlehandedly responsible for digging the Panthers out of a 3-0 hole and getting the game to overtime. Still just 22 years old, Nick Bjugstad is really growing into his 6-foot-6 frame and producing fairly regular offense for Florida -- at least, aside from the prior three games, in which he went minus-5 without a point.

Panthers' Bjugstad Scores Game-Winning Goal

News: Nick Bjugstad scored the game-winning goal in Wednesday's 1-0 win against the Hurricanes.
Analysis: Nick Bjugstad has been red hot for the month of November, scoring 11 points (8G,3A) in 12 games. He has scored two game-winners during that span and has easily been the Panthers most impressive forward. Going into this season, Aleksander Barkov was thought to be the No.1 centre, but with the disappointing play of Barkov, Bjugstad has taken the bull by the horns and has not let go in terms of being the most relied on option at center. If he is available on the waiver wire, it will not be for long. You know what to do.

Florida's Bjugstad: Streak Now At Four Games

News: Nick Bjugstad's current point streak stands at four games and eight points, including five goals, after scoring his seventh of the season in Saturday's shootout loss to the Predators.
Analysis: He's white-hot right now -- his goal came with 31 seconds remaining to send the game to overtime. He really is carrying this squad on his back. And that means you can benefit. Get him in there.

Bjugstad Carries Panthers To Shootout Win

News: Nick Bjugstad scored both of the Panthers' goals in regulation -- one on the power play -- and netted the shootout winner in Thursday's 3-2 triumph over the Sharks.
Analysis: Now that's how you put a team on your back. Florida's coaches won't be happy with Nick Bjugstad's meager eight wins on 27 faceoff tries, but his four goals and seven points in the last three games certainly take a lot of the edge off that. It looks like the 19th overall pick from 2010 is blossoming into stardom before our very eyes.

Bjugstad Gets PP Assist In Florida Loss

News: Nick Bjugstad was credited with a secondary power play assist in a 5-2 loss to the Kings Tuesday.
Analysis: The assist gives Nick Bjugstad six points in his last five games (3G,3A). He continues to be an important piece of the puzzle for Florida, having 18:22 minutes of ice time which led all forwards in the contest. He seems to have found his groove of late and he will be in the running to lead the Panthers in scoring for the second year in a row. He should easily pass the 38 points he achieved last season barring a major injury.

Panthers' Bjugstad Dominates Ducks In Win

News: Nick Bjugstad had a monster night Sunday, scoring two goals, adding two assists, recording five shots on goal, and finishing a plus-4 in a win over Anaheim.
Analysis: Although the 22-year-old had gone scoreless in his last two games, he has been playing much better hockey of late, tallying four goals and six points in his last five games. Nick Bjugstad only has seven points on the season, but he is centering the Panthers' second line and playing on the power play, meaning he will get lots of opportunities to increase that output. If his struggling linemate Jonathan Huberdeau, who had two points Sunday, starts to turn things around, Bjugstad will benefit tremendously. A career year is on the way for the second-line winger.

Panthers' Bjugstad Breaks Through With First Goal

News: Nick Bjugstad scored his first goal of the year -- and Florida's only goal of the game -- on a second-period power play in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Flyers. He also went minus-1 with two PIM and four hits.
Analysis: Expected to build on last year's half-point-per-game rookie campaign, Nick Bjugstad has instead struggled to the tune of just two points in 11 games this year, but there are positive signs to be found here. The biggest one is that he's taken 30 shots so far this year, so he's clearly had some tough puck luck that should turn for him in due course.

Panthers' Bjugstad Pointless To Start Season

News: Nick Bjugstad has been held pointless throughout the first five games of the season and has now been practicing on a line with Jonathan Huberdeau and Scottie Upshall, George Richards of the Miami Herald reports.
Analysis: The 22-year-old center has not had the start fantasy owners were hoping for, but a change in linemates could help find the scoring touch. He has managed to put 10 shots on goal and six penalty minutes, but it is just a matter of time until he starts producing points to make him fantasy relevant again.

Panthers' Bjugstad: Finishes As Team's Top Scorer

News: Nick Bjugstad, who was held off the scoresheet Saturday, finished the season as the Panthers' leading scorer with 38 points. This set an NHL record for the fewest points to lead a team in a full season.
Analysis: Such is the struggle of a young roster that isn't very good right now. But Nick Bjugstad has all of the markings of a stud, top-line centerman, so keeper leaguers should see if they can pry him away from his current owner. The Panthers intend to spend to the cap next season in an effort to be competitive, so he'll have a much better supporting cast. That can only help him build his point totals.
