News:Marty Turco allowed five goals on 27 shots in Tuesday's loss to Pittsburgh, his first loss in his last three starts.
Analysis:Marty Turco may see one more start on the season, as the Bruins are looking to rest starter Tim Thomas now that they've already secured the Eastern Conference's second seed. Whether Turco will back up Thomas in the playoffs depends on the health of Tuuka Rask.
News:Marty Turco will start against Pittsburgh on Tuesday, Penguins.NHL.com reports.
Analysis:Marty Turco has won two straight, but he's not an especially good look on paper against the likes of Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and James Neal. Turco will probably need a good amount of help to get the win.
News:Marty Turco allowed three goals on 22 shots in a 6-3 win over the Islanders on Saturday.
Analysis:Marty Turco has been consistently mediocre when it comes to save percentage (sub-.900 since 2009) and allowing three goals on 22 shots Saturday compounded his troubles. He is 2-1 on the season and is a spot starter for the Bruins.
News:Marty Turco will start against the Islanders on Saturday, Newsday's Arthur Staple reports.
Analysis:Marty Turco certainly has the better supporting cast in Saturday's match-up, but his sub-.900 save percentage since the end of the 2009 season makes him a risky start.
News:Marty Turco made 25 saves on 27 shots to pick up his first win of the season Sunday against Anaheim.
Analysis:Marty Turco was called upon once Tuukka Rask went down with injury, and he's only played three games this season. With Tim Thomas healthy, and with Rask back eventually, anytime Turco steps on the ice this season could be his last.
News:Marty Turco will start in goal for the Bruins on Sunday against the Ducks, the team's official site reports.
Analysis:Marty Turco gets a rare spot start Sunday, with Tim Thomas having started Saturday night's win over the Kings.
News:Marty Turco will make his first start with the Bruins on Tuesday against the Lightning, according to Joe Haggerty of CSN New England.
Analysis:Marty Turco stopped 20 of 22 shots in his first outing with the Bruins. He's getting his chance thanks to the struggles of Tim Thomas in net, but the Bruins still aren't likely to give Turco anything other than a spot start or two.
News:Marty Turco allowed four goals on 12 shots Tuesday against Tampa Bay in his first start in nearly a year.
Analysis: Not so great either for him or Tim Thomas in this one, as Marty Turco yielded three goals, was pulled for Thomas, watched Thomas give up two more, and then was reinserted and surrendered Tampa's sixth goal of the game. If you had any delusions about Turco's fantasy value, this should largely dispel them.
News:Marty Turco stopped 20-of-22 shots in two periods of action in Sunday's loss to the Penguins after replacing starter Tim Thomas.
Analysis: It was Marty Turco's first NHL appearance since March 17, 2011 and he performed solidly enough to expect the occasional start for the B's down the stretch in order to help keep Thomas from burning out.
News:Marty Turco has cleared waivers and is officially a member of the Bruins, the Boston Globe reports.
Analysis:Marty Turco, who is not eligible for postseason play since he was signed after the NHL trade deadline, is now slated to back up Tim Thomas, with Tuukka Rask out with an injury. Assuming he's in decent shape, look for Turco to see the odd start for the B's, but Thomas will remain the team's workhorse between the pipes.
News: Since the Bruins signed him after the trade deadline, Marty Turco is ineligible for postseason play, the Boston Herald reports.
Analysis:Marty Turco must clear waivers before he can join the Bruins, but assuming he does, he'll be available to back up Tim Thomas until the end of the regular season. Ideally, Tuukka Rask will be healthy enough to return for the playoffs, but that may be wishful thinking. If Rask isn't ready at that time, that would leave the Bruins with a choice between Michael Hutchinson (who has been called up from AHL Providence) and Anton Khudobin, assuming he is all the way back from the wrist injury he is currently dealing with.
News:Marty Turco has signed a one-year deal with the Bruins, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: His most recent action has come in Austria, while the Bruins are likely to use Marty Turco in a backup role to Tim Thomas down the stretch while Tuukka Rask recovers from a groin/abdominal injury. If Turco clears waivers, he'll join the Bruins on Wednesday.
News:Marty Turco has signed a contract to play with EC Red Bull Salzburg (Austria) in the Red Bulls Salute tournament, ESPN Dallas reports.
Analysis: It seems unlikely that he'll be offered an opportunity in North America in the near future, but Marty Turco is still trying to hang on in some fashion and would potentially be eligible for NHL teams to consider after the tournament concludes December 18.
News: Turco came in relief for Corey Crawford on Thursday against his old team, the Dallas Stars in the Blackhawks' 5-0 loss.
Analysis: Turco fared better than Crawford in goal for the night. The former Stars goalie gave up a pair of goals while making 15 saves. For Crawford it was his 16th straight start. Blackhawks' coach Joel Quenneville could start Turco on Sunday in Phoenix.
News: Updating previous reports, Corey Crawford and not Turco will start Wednesday against the Lightning, according to Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times.
Analysis: Turco relieved an ineffective Crawford in Tuesday's loss, so it would have been no surprise if the team gave Crawford a breather Wednesday, but alas, the Blackhawks are in the midst of trying to lock up a playoff spot so they'll stay with the guy they've been rolling with most of the season.
News: Turco is expected to be in goal Wednesday night in Tampa Bay, Jesse Rogers of ESPN 1000 in Chicago reports.
Analysis: Turco made seven saves in relief of Corey Crawford on Tuesday night and did not give up a goal. Depending on how well Turco plays against the Lightning, he could get a start here or there the rest of the 15 games this season. He still is the backup behind Crawford.
News: Turco entered in relief of Corey Crawford in the second period Tuesday night and saved all seven shots that were sent his way in the Blackhawks' 3-2 loss.
Analysis: While not official there is a good chance that Turco will start Wednesday in Tampa Bay. Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville was sort of pushing it with Crawford going on his 12th straight start Tuesday night. You might see Turco get a start or two the rest of the season, but not much more than that.
News: Turco will again be on the bench as the Blackhawks go with Corey Crawford for the 12th straight start on Tuesday against the Panthers.
Analysis: Blackhawks' coach Joel Quenneville continues to go with the hot hand of Crawford, but Turco could be in for a game coming up to give Crawford a rest.
News: Turco gave up three goals on 35 shots in a shootout loss to Dallas on Friday night.
Analysis: With a 3-0 lead after the first period, Turco was in prime position to get the victory over his former club. Instead, he suffered an overtime loss in his ninth start since Dec. 1 and he'll likely head back to the bench for Saturday's game against the Coyotes.
News: Turco is expected to be in goal for the Blackhawks on Friday against the Stars, ESPN Chicago reports.
Analysis: Turco is still behind Corey Crawford on the goalie chart, but this will be his first time back in Dallas so coach Joel Quenneville wants to give him a shot back home.
News: Turco will start in net Friday against the Canucks, reports Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times.
Analysis: Corey Crawford has given up seven goals in his last two games, but Turco gave up four in his last outing as well. Crawford will continue to get the majority of the starts.
News: Turco stopped 29 of 33 shots in Tuesday's win over Columbus.
Analysis: Turco wasn't great, but his team scored seven goals for him. Corey Crawford has been getting more of the playing time of late in net for Chicago and he has easily outplayed Turco this season.
News: Turco will start Tuesday against the Blue Jackets, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.
Analysis: The 'Hawks went with Corey Crawford in seven of eight games prior to the All-Star break, so it looks like they will give him an extended rest by rolling Turco on Tuesday. However, we expect Turco back on the bench for Friday's game against the Canucks.
News: Turco was in net for Chicago on Sunday against the Predators, making 20 stops on 23 shots as the Blackhawks scored six goals to help him pick up the win.
Analysis: Corey Crawford has taken the starting role away from Turco, and Turco's numbers have been poor to boot. Even in this victory, he didn't really help you in other categories.
News: Turco will start for the Blackhawks on Sunday, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Turco has been riding the bench since Dec. 30 due to a 9-10-2 record and 3.02 GAA that prompted the Blackhawks to roll with Corey Crawford. Turco is finally back between the pipes, but bear in mind his mediocre performances this season before adjusting your lineup.
Hawks' Turco Yields Sixth Straight Start To Crawford
News: Turco will again be on the bench as the Blackhawks go with Corey Crawford in goal against Colorado, ESPN-AM 1000 in Chicago reports.
Analysis: This will be the sixth straight game that Turco is on the bench and he didn't think he would be in this position when he signed a one-year deal with the Hawks this summer. Unless Crawford implodes, Turco will continue to riding the pine for the foreseeable future.
News: Crawford will be on the bench again Friday night as the Blackhawks go with Corey Crawford against the Senators, Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: With Friday night's start, Turco has been on the bench at the start of the game. While Crawford is currently ensconced as the Blackhawks' top goalie, it is tenuous and a couple of bad starts may prompt the team to go with Turco.
News: Turco, pressed into continued service with Corey Crawford still flu-ridden, allowed four goals on 24 shots in Thursday's loss to the Sharks.
Analysis: Turco has been a decent backup, but you can't count on him as a starting goalie anymore. He's lost five of his last seven starts, and it'd be six if his offense didn't bail him out in one game.
News: Turco will start in goal Thursday against San Jose, the Chicago Sun-Times' Adam Jahns reports.
Analysis: With Corey Crawford still battling the flu, Turco will make his third consecutive start. He's 1-1 over the first two games, though the 3-1 loss to St. Louis was hardly his fault, as he made 40 saves in that game.
News: Turco stopped 40 of 43 shots in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Blues.
Analysis: It's hard to blame Turco for the loss, considering his team was outshot 43-26. With Corey Crawford out with the flu, Turco has needed to step up the last couple games and he has. Overall though, Crawford is the goalie in Chicago that fantasy owners should have their eye on.
News: Turco will start Tuesday's game against St. Louis, the Chicago Sun-Times' Adam Jahns reports.
Analysis: Corey Crawford is still battling the flu, so Turco will make his second consecutive start. He'll be looking to keep the momentum rolling after stopping 26 of 27 shots in Sunday's win over the Blue Jackets.
News: Turco made 26 saves in Sunday's 4-1 victory over Columbus.
Analysis: Turco (9-8-2), filling in for Corey Crawford (flu). who has started 10 of 12 games, picked up his first win since Nov 19 and lowered his GAA to 2.96 on Sunday.
News: Turco will start in goal Sunday against Columbus, the Chicago Daily Herald reports.
Analysis: Turco has not made a start since Dec. 13, when he was pulled after just one period, but the Blackhawks will be forced to turn to him Sunday because Corey Crawford is out with the flu.
News: Turco will start against Colorado on Monday, the Blackhawks' official site reports.
Analysis: He'll be starting for just the second time this month after losing 3-0 to Vancouver in his last outing December 3 while surrendering three goals on 18 shots. Turco appears to be losing the starting job to Corey Crawford, who is 2-0-1 while starting the Hawks' last three games.
News: Turco will be on the bench Sunday night as the Blackhawks go with Corey Crawford in goal, the Daily Herald reports.
Analysis: Turco did not play poorly, but was not great Wednesday night as he gave up three goals while facing 18 shots in the 3-0 Blackhawks' loss to the Canucks. Turco is currently the backup to Crawford, who has won his last five games, but this is a fluid situation and could easily change. The Blackhawks and even Turco are backing Crawford who is hoped to be the future goalie for the Blackhawks.
News: Turco only saw 18 shots, but the visiting Canucks took a 3-0 win Friday.
Analysis: Turco and the Blackhawks have now lost eight home games so far this year. Chicago only lost eight games at home all of last season. This is a changed team, but still very dangerous.
News: Turco will start in goal Friday against Vancouver, the Chicago Sun-Times' Adam Jahns reports.
Analysis: Turco will be back in action after watching Corey Crawford make three consecutive starts (all wins).
News: Turco will sit again on Saturday night as the Blackhawks go with Corey Crawford in goal against the Kings, the Daily Herald reports.
Analysis: If Crawford plays well against the Kings, it could mean a shift in the workload distribution, at least for the time being. Coach Joel Quenneville is just going with the hot hand in Crawford. Turco has an average past mark (17-13-2 record) against the Kings, but allowed only one goal against them on Oct. 27 in Chicago during a 3-1 victory.
Turco Might Sit Again Saturday night in 'Hawks-Kings Battle
News: The Blackhawks were undecided after the win over the Ducks about whether Turco or Corey Crawford would be in goal Saturday night against the Kings, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis: Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville made the surprising move to go with Crawford against the Ducks and it turned out to be a great move. Crawford only gave up a goal in the 4-1 victory over Anaheim. "We'll see," Quenneville said. "We'll talk it about it [Saturday]. ... It's something we'll think about." This is a back-to-back scenario so you would believe that Quenneville would go with Turco, but Crawford is hot after winning three games in a row including Friday's win over the Ducks. If Quenneville goes with Crawford against the Kings and he plays well, this could very well be a shift in the goalie workload distribution.
Turco Tries to Get Out of Funk for 'Hawks Against Ducks
News: Turco will try to end his funk on Friday afternoon in Anaheim after giving up 11 goals in his last two games.
Analysis: After getting his first shutout in a Blackhawks' sweater, Turco has hit a bad stretch in the last two contests. In the past Turco has had some success against the Ducks with a 24-9-3 mark and a 2.19 goals against average and a .918 save percentage with three shutouts.
News: Updating previous reports, Corey Crawford and not Turco got the start at Anaheim on Friday afternoon.
Analysis: Different outlets had each of the goalies as the starter, but hopefully you saw our Crawford note earlier in the day. Crawford has actually outplayed the bigger name Turco by a good margin so far (2.39 GAA, .920 save percentage for Crawford, 2.90, .900 for Turco), so his starts are worth monitoring if you're an owner of either keeper.
News: Turco allowed four in Wednesday's 5-2 loss in San Jose.
Analysis: November has been a bad month for Turco and the Blackhawks. During his nine starts this month, Turco has only two wins and has allowed nearly three goals per game. He needs to be better to give Chicago a chance to win some games.
News: Turco will start Wednesday against the Sharks, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Turco was beaten seven times by the Flames his last time out on the ice, inflating his goals-against average to 2.83 on the season. He has seen the Sharks plenty in his career since he spent nine seasons with the Stars, who share a division with his next opponent. In 44 career games against Team Teal, Turco has a .914 save percentage and a sturdy 2.26 GAA.
News: Turco allowed seven goals on 36 shots in Friday's loss at Calgary.
Analysis: With the score 4-1 and Chicago pressing, the odd-man rushes allowed for a couple of quick strikes. That was when the game was out of hand. Don't read too much into this very poor outing - he is still the man in Chi-town!
News: Turco will start in goal Friday against the Flames, the Chicago Sun-Times' Adam Jahns reports.
Analysis: Turco had been struggling, but he was terrific his last time out, shutting out the Oilers on Wednesday. He'll look to keep his success going against a Flames team that ranks in the bottom third in goals scored.
News: Turco recorded his first shutout of the season over the host Oilers in a 5-0 decision Wednesday.
Analysis: Turco need a game against Edmonton to get healthy, but he took it to another level with an 18-save shutout win. Maybe this will help get him to string some wins together which he hasn't been able to do since October 20th.
News: Turco will start in goal Wednesday against the Oilers, according to the Blackhawks' official Twitter page.
Analysis: Turco is just 1-3-1 over his last five starts, but he has a good chance to add another tally to the win column against an Edmonton team that has won just once in seven games this month.
News: Turco gave up three tallies on 33 shots as Chicago lost at Nashville in a shootout on Saturday night. It's his first shootout loss of the campaign.
Analysis: He has just one win in his last five starts as the Hawks have struggled to regain last year's success. We think that both he and the team will rebound, so if he's available and you can grab him and stash him on your bench for a while, he should eventually pay dividends. But for now, you need to be patient and start someone else.
News: Turco will start against the Predators on Saturday night, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Turco has won just three of his last four starts and has allowed 12 goals over that span. Use him only if you don't have another option.
News: Turco took the loss Wednesday as the visiting Coyotes left town with a 2-1 victory.
Analysis: Turco was shell-shocked for a pair of goals only 25 seconds apart early in the middle frame and is mired in a bit of a slump. He has lost three of four games in November, but more disturbing are the 12 goals allowed over that span. He needs to show more.
News: Turco will start Wednesday against the Coyotes, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Analysis: Turco has a .911 save percentage and 2.79 GAA, but has given up 10 goals in his last three starts.
News: Turco will take a seat against the Oilers on Sunday night as the Blackhawks go with Corey Crawford in goal in a back-to-back scenario.
Analysis: In a tough 5-4 shootout victory in Atlanta on Saturday night, Turco made 33 saves. Turco is 7-4-1 on the season with a .911 save percentage and a 2.79 goals against average.
News: Turco is scheduled to start on Wednesday against New Jersey, reports ESPN's Jesse Rogers.
Analysis: You have to like Turco in this matchup against the Devils, who happen to be the lowest-scoring team in the NHL right now. Turco is a respectable 6-3-1 so far on the season with a 2.67 GAA and .916 SV%. He makes for a solid fantasy play on this night.
News: Turco surrendered three goals on 23 shots Monday in a loss to the Rangers.
Analysis: Turco and the Hawks had an up-and-down start to the season, but he's still sitting at 6-3-1, but his owners wouldn't mind a lower goals-against average. Wins will come, but expect the averages to leave you wanting more.
News: Turco is scheduled to start in goal for the Blackhawks on Monday when they travel to New York to play the Rangers, Chicago Breaking Sports reports.
Analysis: Turco was pulled in Friday's loss to the Oilers, but bounced back nicely with a win (one goal allowed) Saturday at Minnesota. Turco has a .920 save percentage in his first season with the Hawks, and has put up better stats across the board than backup Corey Crawford.
News: Turco bounced back from a benching with 25 saves in a 3-1 win over the Wild on Saturday night.
Analysis: He was yanked against the Oilers on Friday night but was solid against the Wild. The Hawks are good but he's going to have to win some games on his own this season; we just haven't seen that yet. We think he'll settle but remember -- he's been on the decline for several seasons. Don't overestimate him.
News: Turco will start Saturday against Minnesota, the Chicago Sun-Times' Adam Jahns reports.
Analysis: Turco got yanked after allowing four first-period goals Friday night, but he's been pretty good this season overall. If you are worried about a repeat performance, at least you have a lot of other options to choose from in Saturday's heavy slate.
News: Turco allowed four first-period goals and didn't see action after the intermission as his team fell 7-4 to the visiting Oilers on Friday.
Analysis: Turco was tremendous only two days ago, but looked slow against a buzzing Edmonton team filled with youngsters. He will continue to see the majority of the starts for Chicago and owners shouldn't worry too much about this bump in the road.
News: Turco stopped 33 of 34 shots to record the 3-1 win over the visiting Kings.
Analysis: Turco allowed only one goal for the second time this season and gets back in the win column after ending a four-game win streak in St. Louis last week. Turco was a wise investment for fantasy owners and should continue his strong play the rest of the year.
Turco to Start in Goal For Blackhawks on Wednesday
News: Turco will start Wednesday's game against the Kings, according to the the Blackhawks' official Twitter page.
Analysis: Turco will be back in net after giving way to Corey Crawford on Saturday. Turco had been on a roll before giving up four goals in his last game, but make sure he is back in your lineup Wednesday.
News: Turco will start Friday against St. Louis, the Blackhawks' official site reports.
Analysis: Turco is on a roll with four consecutive wins and will make his fifth straight start Friday night. There's not much to debate here; he has been outstanding and should be starting in most leagues Friday.
News: Turco made 36 saves during regulation and overtime, then flopped a save in the shootout for the 2-1 win Wednesday.
Analysis: Turco was solid until the shootout round where he was bad, but better than his couterpart Roberto Luongo. The Blackhawks' netminder continues to be strong on the puck and will succeed nicely in the Windy City, so fantasy owners have little reason to take him out of the lineup.
News: Turco will get the nod in net Wednesday against the Canucks, the Blackhawks' official site reports.
Analysis: That will be Turco's sixth start in eight games. Health permitting, Turco will have a chance to start 60-plus games for the 'Hawks this season.
News: Turco made 32 saves Monday as the Blackhawks scored three unanswered goals to win 3-2 in overtime.
Analysis: Turco and the squad started out slow and the Blackhawks' number one goalie helped keep the team in the game. This was third straight victory for Turco in goal.
News: Turco will make his third consecutive start in goal for the Blackhawks on Monday, who are looking for their third victory in a row, according to Chicago Breaking Sports.
Analysis: Corey Crawford saw a couple of starts last week when the Hawks had a busy schedule, but Turco is clearly the guy Chicago is counting on. He's been so-so in the early going, with a 2.97 GAA and .910 save percentage.
News: Turco delivered a 38-save, 4-3 win over the Sabres on Saturday night.
Analysis: He finally showed Antti Niemi fans that he can carry the Cup champs to victory. He has struggled to mesh with his new mates but Saturday went a long way to assuage fears that his skills have eroded. The Hawks remain among the elite and Turco is part of the plan -- the fantasy numbers will come.
News: Turco will start Saturday against Buffalo, according to Chicago Tribune writer Chris Kuc.
Analysis: Turco has been just so-so for the Hawks so far this season, with a 1-1-1 record, 2.95 GAA and .909 SV%. The team is still touting him as their official number one goalie, but rookie Corey Crawford is waiting in the wings. Turco needs to sharpen his game or he could wind up in a time-share situation. Monitor carefully.
News: Turco made 30 saves in a 5-2 win at Columbus on Friday night.
Analysis: It was a nice bounce-back performance from Turco, who needs to solidify his hold on the No. 1 netminder spot in the early months of the season to avoid the risk of losing his job to Corey Crawford or forcing the Blackhawks to look elsewhere for a goaltender in the second half of the season.
News: Turco will start Friday against Columbus, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Analysis: Despite the fact that Corey Crawford has started Chicago's last two games, coach Joel Quenneville made it clear Thursday that Turco remains the team's top goaltender. "Our goaltending, we're happy with it," Quenneville said. "Marty's fine. Marty is No. 1."
News: Turco will sit for the second straight game as the Blackhawks go with Corey Crawford in goal on Wednesday night against the Predators, the Daily Herald reports.
Analysis: It is expected that Crawford could see plenty of ice time this season if he shows solid efforts. Turco is not the future of the Blackhawks as is Crawford so they want to get a feel if Crawford can handle a good load this season. It's expected that Turco will be goalie if the Blackhawks make the playoffs.
News: Turco's teammate Cory Crawford will start for the Blackhawks on Monday in Buffalo, according to CSNChicago.com.
Analysis: The Blackhawks plan on not overworking Turco this season, and with four games in six nights this week -- two of them against Buffalo -- this is one of those times will Turco will get a breather.
News: Turco made 23 saves but allowed three goals as the Blackhawks dropped their home opener to Detroit in overtime Saturday.
Analysis: He's had to turn around and sweep the puck out of his net seven times in two games already in this young season. His current sub-.900 save percentage won't stay there, of course, but it's a troubling sign for antsy fantasy owners. We suggest patience; Turco won't surrender the starter's role to Corey Crawford unless his cold streak stretches a lot farther than this.
Turco Allows Four Goals in Blackhawks' Opening-Night Loss
News: Turco allowed four goals on 41 shots in Thursday's season-opening overtime loss to the Avalanche.
Analysis: Tough to fault him too much when he faced 41 shots and was able to keep the team in the game despite a 3-1 deficit a bit more than midway through the second period, but it's certainly not the debut that he or the defending Stanley Cup champs were looking for.
News: Turco will start Thursday's season opener against the Avalanche, Chicago Breaking Sports reports.
Analysis: Turco may not be the goalie he was in his prime, but he may not have to be. He''s playing for the defending Stanley Cup Champs and should get plenty of goal support this season. Roll him with confidence.
News: For Marty Turco, the bottom line is to play for a Stanley Cup contender. By agreeing to a one-year deal with the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday, the veteran goaltender made that clear. Turco, who will replace Stanley Cup hero Antti Niemi as the Blackhawks' top goalie, could have earned more money and gotten a longer contract elsewhere, according to his agent, Kurt Overhardt. The deal is worth $1.3 million. "We spoke to four different teams and turned down different opportunities and amounts," Overhardt said. "He turned down teams with higher considerations and longer terms ... Marty's priority was joining as team that could win a Stanley Cup, and he chose Chicago." The 26-year-old Niemi helped the Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup this past season after earning $826,875 as a rookie. He was awarded a $2.75 million salary for next season by an arbitrator last week, putting the Blackhawks in a tough spot. Bowman declined to say whether the team could have squeezed Niemi's award under the NHL's salary cap, set at $59.4 million next season.
Analysis: Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman said the team expects "immediate" contributions from the 34-year-old Turco, who has played all nine of his NHL seasons with Dallas. The three-time All Star has never advanced past the conference finals in six playoff appearances with the Stars. "Part of the reason for going there (Chicago) is now you're on a team that has a chance to win every night and won a Stanley Cup last season," Turco said. Bowman said he had been eyeing Turco for some time and trying to coordinate the timing of the signing so another NHL team wouldn't take him. In his NHL career, Turco is 262-154-63 in 509 regular-season games with a 2.31 goals-against average and 40 shutouts. Last season, he went 22-20-11 with a 2.72 GAA, .913 save percentage and four shutouts. His career has been on the decline the last few seasons, however, joining the Blackhawks shoots him right back up the Fantasy rankings. Draft Turco as a No. 1 Fantasy goalie on Draft Day. The Blackhawks TG is still a high-end option.
News: Goaltender Marty Turco's time with the Dallas Stars is over. General manager Joe Nieuwendyk said Tuesday that the Stars will not re-sign Turco, a three-time All-Star who just completed his ninth season with the team. "I just felt like it was time we went in a different direction," said Nieuwendyk, a former teammate of Turco's who became GM last summer. "I think he clearly understands the situation." Kari Lehtonen, acquired from Atlanta in February, will go into next season as the team's top goaltender.
Analysis: The 34-year-old Turco just completed a $22.8 million, four-year contract he signed in January 2006 that kept him from becoming a free agent at the end of that season. Turco holds the Stars franchise record with 509 games played as a goaltender, winning 262 games with a .911 save percentage and a 2.31 goals-against average. He had 40 shutouts. "I want to thank Marty for 10 years of service here," Nieuwendyk said. "He's a friend, he's been a terrific competitor and a fan favorite. He has a lot to be proud of." In 53 games this season, Turco posted a 22-20-11 record. He had a .913 save percentage and 2.72 GAA. We figured Turco wouldn't return to Dallas after the Stars flirted with trading him at the deadline. Turco could find work elsewhere, but we aren't sure a full-time starting job awaits. Keep tabs on his offseason progress before taking a flier on him Draft Day 2010.
News: Stars G Marty Turco faced only 19 shots in 65 minutes against the Ducks on Thursday. He held Anaheim to a pair of goals, then turned away both pucks sent his way in the shootout, leading Dallas to a 3-2 win.
Analysis: With Dallas eliminated from playoff contention, Thursday was expected to be Turco's last start of the season. He should be benched in daily leagues.
News: The Chicago Tribune reports that Stars G Matt Climie will start in goal Tuesday against the Blackhawks.
Analysis: Turco has only one win in his last six starts and with Dallas now eliminated, the team decided to give Climie a shot in the final week of the season. Be sure to bench Turco in daily leagues.
News: Stars G Marty Turco shined brightly against the Sharks on Wednesday, making 29 saves. Dallas blew out San Jose 5-1. Turco has allowed just 15 goals in his last six starts.
Analysis: Turco broke a five-start winless streak on Wednesday. He was 0-3-2 while curiously enough allowing only 14 goals. Kari Lehtonen has taken some starts away from Turco, which reduces his value to that of a low-end No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The Stars TG remains at best a No. 2 option as well.
News: Stars G Marty Turco stopped 38 pucks against the Sharks on Thursday, but it wasn't enough, as Dallas fell 3-0. The Stars were only able to muster 27 shots on goal.
Analysis: Turco is having a tough go of it lately. He's winless in his last five starts, but has allowed only 14 goals in that stretch. Combined with Kari Lehtonen taking some starts away from him, Turco's dropped to being a low-end No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The Stars TG remains at best a No. 2 option as well.
News: Stars G Marty Turco made 33 saves, including six in overtime, but couldn't pull out a win in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Coyotes on Sunday. Turco rallied from a two-goal regulation deficit before falling the shootout. He held a 1-0 advantage before Radim Vrbata scored in the third round and Adrian Aucoin scored the winner in the fourth round. Turco's winless streak reached four games (0-2-2).
Analysis: It's been tough sledding for Turco since play resumed after the Olympic break. He has just one win in seven appearances, and that has opened the door for Kari Lehtonen to get a few more starts. Turco has dropped to being a low-end No. 2 Fantasy goalie because of his recent slide. The Stars TG remains at best a No. 2 option as well.
News: Stars G Marty Turco couldn't hold onto a one-goal lead midway through the second period Sunday against the Avalanche and was eventually pulled during a 5-3 loss. Dallas went up 3-2 at 7:21 of the second period after Brandon Segal scored twice in t he middle frame. Then, Paul Stastny's power-play deflection at 11:05 of the second period made it a 3-all game, and Chris Stewart's wraparound at 13:46 gave the Avalanche a 4-3 edge despite Dallas' 20-12 shots advantage in the period. At that point, Stars coach Marc Crawford replaced Turco with Kari Lehtonen, playing his third game since being acquired in a trade with Atlanta on Feb. 9. Lehtonen allowed Stastny's second goal in the third. Turco made 14 saves and Lehtonen finished with three.
Analysis: It's been tough sledding for Turco since the Olympic break. He is winless in five of his last six appearances, allowing three or more goals in five of those outings. His pre-Olympic surge led Dallas not to trade the veteran netminder and trust him down the stretch. Unfortunately, he hasn't lived up to his end of the bargain. That could open the door for Lehtonen, who is working his way into shape. Turco remains at best a No. 2 Fantasy netminder. The Stars TG is also a No. 2 option.
News:Jarret Stoll scored in the sixth round of a shootout past Marty Turco, as the Kings stole a 2-1 win from the Stars on Friday. After the first 11 attempts of the shootout, Stoll beat Turco with a wrist shot for the Kings' fifth victory in five games against the Stars this season. Turco made 27 saves as the Stars continue to chase a playoff spot. Dallas is 1-4-1 while being outscored 26-13 since the Olympic break.
Analysis: Turco has been in net for most of the Stars' post-Olympic misfortunes. It's interesting to see him still in a Dallas uniform after it seemed as though Dallas was ready to trade the veteran. But he had a strong stretch before the Olympic break and Dallas felt its best chance to make the playoffs involved keeping Turco, who remains at best a No. 2 Fantasy netminder. The Stars TG is also a No. 2 option.
News: Stars G Marty Turco turned away 38 shots against the Sabres on Wednesday, but Dallas still fell 5-3. Buffalo added an empty-netter with :18 remaining.
Analysis: Turco is the starter in Dallas, but he's 1-3 since the Olympic break, allowing 16 goals in those four games. He is a No. 2 Fantasy option. The Stars TG is also a secondary option.
News: You have to give Dallas G Marty Turco a lot of credit for his performance on Monday night against the Washington Capitals. Facing one of the NHL's best and highest-scoring teams, Turco withstood a ridiculous assault of 52 shot attempts from the Capitals. He allowed one goal per period and his Stars scored three times in the third to force overtime. He stayed scoreless in the OT and saved four of Washington's five shootout attempts to hold on to win 4-3. Turco finished with 49 saves through regulation and overtime.
Analysis: Turco had lost both starts since the Olympic break prior to Monday but any time you can hold off Washington's scoring attack, it is definitely worth mentioning. He was fantastic in goal on Monday to earn his 20th win of the season. His record is now 20-17-9. He's the teams starter for now, with Kari Lehtonen coming off the bench, and can be considered a No. 2 Fantasy option. The Stars TG is also a secondary option.
News: Stars G Marty Turco was pulled in the second period Thursday after allowing four goals on 11 shots against the Blues. He was replaced by Kari Lehtonen. St. Louis would go on to win 6-1.
Analysis: Turco has lost both starts since the Olympic break. He's the teams starter for now, with Kari Lehtonen coming off the bench. His record falls to 19-17-9 and Turco can be considered a solid No. 2 option. The Stars TG is also a secondary option.
News: Dallas G Marty Turco was as hot as can be before the Olympic hockey break but he sure didn't start that way on Tuesday against Los Angeles. Turco allowed L.A. to score once in the first period and three times in the second and the score was 4-0 Kings by the time Dallas managed their own tally. The Stars lost 5-1 in the game and Turco stopped just 17 of 22 shots he faced.
Analysis: Turco had won three of his previous four starts before the Olympic break and had not allowed more than three goals in any start since January. He's the teams starter for now, with Kari Lehtonen coming off the bench. His record falls to 19-16-9 and Turco can be considered a solid No. 2 option. The Stars TG is also a secondary option.
News: The Stars have waived G Alex Auld, a move which means G Marty Turco is likely to stick around in Dallas the rest of this season.
Analysis: Turco was red hot before the Olympic break, and the Stars will be hoping he can stay that way and lead them to a playoff berth. Kari Lehtonen, acquired from the Thrashers in January, will back up Turco. Auld, meanwhile, will likely be snagged by another team. While his stats (3.00, .894) aren't great this season, Auld has proven to be a capable backup in the past. Turco should be used in all two-goalie Fantasy formats once play starts again next week as a solid No. 2 option, while Auld should only be held on to in deeper formats.
News: Stars G Marty Turco picked up his second shutout in his last four starts when he made 40 saves to blank the Coyotes on Saturday night.
Analysis: With his hot run of play over the last 10 days, Turco is either increasing his trade value or making the Stars thinking about keeping him for a playoff run (the Stars are currently in eighth place). The veteran is back to being a solid No. 2 Fantasy goalie for now, and hopefully he can keep it going after the break, no matter where he's playing. The Stars TG is also a secondary option.
News: Rookie Jamie Benn scored the go-ahead goal early in the third period, and Marty Turco made 33 saves in the Dallas Stars' 3-1 victory over the Calgary Flames on Thursday. Turco gave up the first goal of the game to Jarome Iginla on a power play 15:34 into the first. He then made 23 saves over the final two scoreless periods for his 18th win.
Analysis: Turco has started all five games for Dallas in February. He has won three of them, made 30-plus saves in four and allowed more than two goals once. Turco hasn't been bad in net, but Dallas is keeping the veteran active since it is dangling him as trade bait. With the acquisition of Kari Lehtonen, it seems Turco heading out of town is all but sealed. If he doesn't go to a situation where he can start, then Turco stands to lose Fantasy appeal. The Stars TG is still at best a No. 2 option.
News: With the trade of G Kari Lehtonen to Dallas on Tuesday, the chances of pending free agent Stars G Marty Turco being dealt appear to have increased. Media outlets are reporting that Chicago and Philadelphia have the most interest.
Analysis: Turco is making $5.4 million this season, but with the way he's struggled the last couple of seasons there's little chance Turco would earn that much with his next deal unless he dazzles somewhere down the stretch and leads a team to a Stanley Cup title. Philly might be the leader in this situation, as Ray Emery is reportedly dealing with what could be a serious hip issue, and Michael Leighton is unproven. Chicago has serviceable options in Cristobal Huet and Antti Niemi, neither of whom Turco would really be an upgrade over, except in the playoff experience department. Turco's value would obviously increase if he was traded to a contender, so keep a close eye on this situation.
News: Dallas G Marty Turco stopped 37 shots on Tuesday night against the Chicago Blackhawks and the game was tied through regulation and overtime. Turco allowed three goals during the game and allowed Chicago's Kris Versteeg to score the game's lone shootout goal as the Blackhawks won, 4-3 in shootout fashion.
Analysis: The shootout loss drops Turco's record to 17-15-9 on the season, though he is 2-1-1 in February. View the veteran goalie as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy option in deeper leagues. The Stars TG has similar value.
News: Stars G Marty Turco continued his nice run of play as he made 34 saves in Saturday's 4-0 shutout of the Coyotes.
Analysis: Turco has allowed just three goals over this last three starts and is either really ramping his play up to try and increase his trade value. He didn't exactly played elite NHL teams during Fantasy Week 18 (Feb. 1-7) though, so don't get too excited yet. Turco's next game will be against the Blackhawks, which should be a great test of how well he's seeing the puck. View the veteran goalie as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy option in deeper leagues for Week 19 (Feb. 8-14), but definitely a risky option. The Stars TG has similar value.
News: Stars G Marty Turco made 24 saves during a 2-1 loss to the Blue Jackets on Thursday. Turco never led in the game. He only trailed by one goal until R.J. Umberger scored on an empty net with 1:08 to play. Turco lost after winning Tuesday against the Wild.
Analysis: Turco had been relegated to backup duties recently after Alex Auld put on quite a show in net. But after Turco won on Tuesday, Dallas wanted to ride the hot hand. Turco performed well again, but he just didn't get the offensive support. This could always be a way of Dallas showcasing Turco as trade bait. Clearly, the goalie situation is unsettled in Dallas. Turco is more of a No. 3 Fantasy goalie or flier in leagues that use average points per game. The Stars TG is a No. 2 option.
News: Dallas G Marty Turco beat the Wild on Tuesday, 4-2. Turco allowed Minnesota to score in the second and third periods but coughed up just two goals as he made 40 stops on the game.
Analysis: Turco was just 2-6-0 in January but he starts February off right with a win to improve his season record to 16-14-8. Turco played well and may have earned another few starts but he's been brutal for much of the year. Right now, Turco is only worth risking in super-deep two-goalie leagues as a desperation No. 2 option. The Stars TG is a very low-end option, too.
News: The Dallas Morning News reports that Stars G Marty Turco will be back in net Tuesday after sitting in favor of Alex Auld for the previous three games.
Analysis: Turco has been brutal this season, and had allowed 17 goals in his last four starts before being sat on the bench. Unless he plays very well on Tuesday, Turco might just get this one start in Fantasy Week 18 (Feb. 1-7) and is only worth risking in super-deep two-goalie leagues as a desperation No. 2 option. The Stars TG is a very low-end option, too.
News: Stars G Marty Turco, looking for his first two-game win streak in 2010, came out on the losing end Sunday as Dallas fell 4-0 to Colorado. Turco made 32 saves.
Analysis: Turco is 2-6 in 2010, and you have to wonder how much longer the Stars can continue to roll with the veteran who appears to have lost some of his skills this season. Turco's owners in most leagues should continue to bench him for the time being, and only desperate owners in deeper formats should be relying on him as a low-end No. 2 option. The Stars TG is also a secondary choice at best.
News: Stars G Marty Turco made 35 saves during a 4-3 win against the Oilers on Friday. Turco never trailed in the game, but he did squander a 3-1 lead late in the third period. Fortunately, James Neal scored with 23 seconds left to give Turco a much-needed win. It was his first victory in four appearances.
Analysis: Turco has sat on the bench the last few games watching Alex Auld lead the Stars. Turco might have to adjust to a new role in Dallas since his game is clearly not what it used to be. There are rumors that Turco is likely to be traded by the March 3 deadline, so this is a situation Fantasy owners need to follow. Turco is more of a No. 3 Fantasy goalie or flier in leagues that use average points per game until he gets back on track. The Stars TG is at best a No. 2 option.
News: The Dallas Morning News reports that Stars G Alex Auld will make a second straight start Monday when Dallas hosts Minnesota. Auld made 26 saves in a shootout win over the Red Wings on Saturday.
Analysis: The Stars play four times in Fantasy Week 16 (Jan. 18-24), with the middle games on back-to-back days. Auld's start on Monday likely guarantees him at least a couple of starts in the scoring period, if not more. Of course, if he struggles and then Marty Turco excels on Thursday, then Turco could stick around between the pipes. Only use Auld in average point leagues, while Turco and the Stars TG remain No. 2 options.
News: Stars G Marty Turco made 23 saves during a 5-3 loss to the Canadiens on Thursday. Turco held a 2-1 lead after the first period and was tied at 3 going into the third before Montreal pulled away. Brian Gionta scored the decisive goal on the power play 7:14 into the third. Turco is winless in five of his last six outings.
Analysis: Turco has allowed five goals in each of his last two appearances and it just continues his bad stretch of play. Turco has been on the decline the last few seasons and his play continues to suffer in 2009-10. He is still worth using as a No. 2 Fantasy goalie because he plays a lot, but the numbers just aren't what they used to be. The Stars TG is also a No. 2 option.
News: Dallas goalie Marty Turco gave up a goal to Scott Hartnell in the 1st period of Tuesday's game against Philadelphia. The Stars immediately tied the score in the 2nd period but that is when things got ugly. Turco gave up four straight goals in the 2nd period to four different Philly skaters and was eventually pulled from the game in favor of Alex Auld. Auld allowed the game's next goal in the 3rd period but that was the lone goal he allowed in the 6-3 loss. Turco finished with 14 saves but five goals allowed and Auld was better at eight saves in nine shot attempts.
Analysis: Turco was battered and beaten by the Flyers in the 2nd period and left him on the bench. His record falls to 14-12-8 with the loss and is his second straight defeat. He's now lost four of his five January starts and is officially cold. Turco hasn't had a ton of strong performance since posting a 2.26 GAA in October. He still starts most nights for Dallas, but Turco is at best a No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The same goes for the Stars TG. Auld only has low-end value as the backup.
News: Stars G Marty Turco made 39 saves during a 2-0 loss to the Blue Jackets on Sunday. The Blue Jackets got the only goal they needed at 8:20 of the opening period. On a three-man rush, Derick Brassard slid a cross-ice pass from the left wing that deflected off the skates of defenseman Maxime Fortunus. The puck slid all the way to the right dot, where Raffi Torres went to one knee to one-time it past Turco for his 13th of the season. Vermette extended his points streak to four games with a late empty-netter.
Analysis: Turco had a pretty strong performance on Sunday despite taking the loss. It's just sad to see a 39-save effort go to waste. Turco hasn't had a ton of strong performance since posting a 2.26 GAA in October. He still starts most nights for Dallas, but Turco is at best a No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The same goes for the Stars TG.
News:Brad Richards scored the tiebreaking goal late in the second period, Marty Turco stopped all seven shots he faced in the final period, and the Dallas Stars snapped a three-game losing streak with a 4-3 victory over the New York Islanders on Friday. Turco rallied from a 2-1 first-period deficit to win for the first time in three starts.
Analysis: Turco won for just the sixth time in his last 13 appearances on Friday. After opening with a 2.26 GAA in October, Turco has hit the skids and is no longer at the top of his game. He is still the best option in net for Dallas, but Turco remains more of a No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The Stars TG is at best a No. 2 option.
News: Stars G Marty Turco allowed four goals on 24 shots Wednesday as Dallas fell 5-2 to the Rangers. Turco is now 0-2 in 2010 and 13-10-8 on the season.
Analysis: Turco has just seven wins since the middle of November and is letting a lot of Fantasy owners down at the moment. He has also only failed to allow fewer than three goals once in his last eight outings. He's clearly dropped to more of a No. 2 Fantasy goalie for now, while the Stars TG is also a secondary option.
News: Stars G Marty Turco stopped 24 shots Saturday in a 3-1 loss to Vancouver. The final Canucks goal was an empty-netter.
Analysis: Turco has only won five of his last 14 starts and isn't exactly lighting the Fantasy world on fire right now. He's dropped to more of a No. 2 Fantasy goalie for now, along with the Stars TG.
News: Stars G Marty Turco made 31 saves during a 5-3 win against the Ducks on Thursday. The Ducks went in front 2-1 at 2:15 of the second period when Mike Brown's shot from the right circle got through Turco's pads. But the Stars then reeled off four straight goals before Saku Koivu scored with less than three minutes left. Turco won for the third time in four starts.
Analysis: Turco has definitely struggled in November and December after posting a 2.26 GAA in October. He has been at 2.77 or higher since Nov. 1. He also has only nine wins in his last 20 appearances. Turco is still playing better than his backup Alex Auld, so his starting job isn't in jeopardy. However, Turco is more of a No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The Stars TG is also a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: Dallas G Marty Turco did not have one of his better performances on Tuesday against the Blackhawks, but he was effective enough to pick up a 5-4 win. He allowed four goals in the game and made 33 saves. His record improved to 12-8-8 on the season with the performance.
Analysis: Turco has allowed at least three goals in six of his last seven games, giving up four goals in three of those contests. He has not been all that effective in net for the Stars, but the offense has fortunately been able to bail him out about half the time. Keep him active as a No. 2 Fantasy option in deeper formats while he is struggling. The Stars TG is also a No. 2 Fantasy unit.
News: Dallas G Marty Turco stopped 28 shots on Monday against the San Jose Sharks but it wasn't enough as he lost the game, 4-2. He allowed the Sharks to score twice in the final period for the difference in the game.
Analysis: The loss drops Turcos record to 11-8-8 on the year and hes now given up at least three goals in four straight appearances. While Turco hasn't been winning much in December, three of his losses have come in overtime, so he's not playing awful hockey. He has allowed a few too many goals lately though, so remains just a No. 2 Fantasy option in deeper leagues for now. The Stars TG is also a secondary choice.
News: Stars G Marty Turco picked up only his third win of December when Dallas edged Detroit 4-3 on Saturday afternoon. Turco made 30 saves.
Analysis: While Turco hasn't been winning much in December, three of his losses have come in overtime, so he's not playing awful hockey. He has allowed a few too many goals lately though, so remains just a No. 2 Fantasy option in deeper leagues for now. The Stars TG is also a secondary choice.

Peverley's winner came on a tip-in. He also scored a short-handed goal in the third period. Alex Auld started the game before being pulled in the second period. The Stars were trailing 3-2 at the time. Auld made 12 saves and Turco finished with seven stops.
Analysis: Turco was supposed to have the night off on Thursday after taking a surprising loss on Wednesday against Carolina. He didn't play his best hockey off the bench and it unfortunately resulted in an overtime loss. He is definitely looking a lot more unstable in net as of late than earlier in the season. The fact remains Turco has been on the decline a bit over the last few seasons. He is still starting a ton for the Stars and posting favorable stat lines, but they aren't as good as in the past. Turco is more of a No. 2 Fantasy goalie these days.

But the Sharks struggled in the shootout with Devin Setoguchi being the only player to beat Turco, who won for the 10th time in 23 appearances.
Analysis: Turco hasn't had a ton of success in shootouts this season, so it was finally nice to see him pull one out on Friday. The Stars are a middle of the road team and it is reflected in Turco's numbers. He starts pretty much every night for Dallas, but Turco is still more of a No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The Stars TG is also a No. 2 option.

The Ducks scored the final three goals in regulation to send the game to overtime and Turco allowed a rebound goal from Saku Koivu in the extra frame to take the loss, 4-3.
Analysis: Turco came into the game on Tuesday with losses in four of his previous five starts and he lost another one. His record was very good before this latest slump and we figure hell bust out of it soon enough. Hes too good not too turn it around. Still, until these extended struggles subside, you have to think of Turco as more of a No. 2 Fantasy goalie option. The Stars TG is also a No. 2 at the moment.
News: Stars G Marty Turco made 34 saves Saturday but fell 3-2 in a shootout to the Oilers.
Analysis: Turco was struggling in late November, but he's now allowed just five goals over his last three starts. Turco should play at least twice in Fantasy Week 10 (Dec. 7-13), but all Dallas' games are on the road at Anaheim, San Jose and Los Angeles. Use Turco in deeper leagues as a No. 2 Fantasy option, along with the Stars TG.
News:Marty Turco stopped 26 shots and improved to 22-9-8 lifetime against Anaheim during a 3-1 win on Thursday. Off a pass from Ryan Whitney, Saku Koivu drove a one-timer past Turco for his third goal of the season 1:28 into the first period. But that would be the only goal Anaheim scored.
Analysis: Turco got his first win in four starts on Thursday. Turco hasn't been on top of his game lately. He has allowed less than three goals just twice in his last eight outings. He is still the Stars' top goalie, but Turco is playing more like a No. 2 Fantasy option. The Stars TG is also a No. 2 Fantasy unit.

Analysis: Turco hasn't been pulled in many games this season, so don't worry about Friday's performance. The veteran netminder is still a solid presence in between the pipes for Dallas. However, he is more of a No. 2 Fantasy goalie because he is not winning on a regular basis. The Stars TG is also a No. 2 Fantasy unit.
News: Dallas G Marty Turco avoided a regulation loss on Wednesday when Brenden Morrow scored with only 26 seconds to go into the game and send it into overtime tied at 3. However, Turco allowed both of the shots he faced in the shootout to get by him as his record fell to 8-4-5 on the season.
Analysis: Turco had won two starts in a row and was coming off of a shutout of the Hurricanes in his previous outing. He has been solid in net for the Stars this season but the team doesn't win enough to consider Turco anything more than a high-end No. 2 Fantasy option. The Stars TG is also a No. 2 Fantasy unit.
News:Marty Turco stopped 22 shots for his 38th career shutout, rookie Jamie Benn scored a power-play goal in the first period and the Dallas Stars beat the Carolina Hurricanes 2-0 on Monday night. Turco never led in the game, but did make seven saves during a scoreless third period. Unfortunately, it was too little, too late. Turco, who allowed three power-play scores and one short-handed tally, made 24 saves.
Analysis: Turco is winless in his last two outings, but it is nothing to get worried about. Only if the prolonged slump continues will it be cause for concern. Turco is still playing well enough to be treated as a No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The Stars TG is also a No. 2 option.

Analysis: Turco has played well enough this season to be considered a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 Fantasy goalie, so get him active for next week. Modano and Lehtinen, on the other hand, are just low-end Fantasy flier options.
News: The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports Stars goalie Marty Turco (flu) was at practice Monday and appeared to be OK. He is expected to start on Wednesday against the Flames. Turco has missed the last two games with the flu.
Analysis: Turco caught the flu from one of his daughters and the team felt it was best he stay away for a few days, so he didn't spread the virus. The fact he is back at practice means he is good to go. Consider him a safe play for Fantasy Week 5 (Nov. 2-8).
News: Dallas G Marty Turco missed his second straight game with the flu on Saturday at Nashville. He is considered questionable for Wednesday against the Flames.
Analysis: Although Turco has missed the past two games due to illness, it's hard to believe that he won't be able to return by the team's next game on Wednesday. Although he is a bit of a risky play, Turco is still an advisable low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 Fantasy goalie for Week 5 (Nov. 2-8).
News: Dallas Stars G Marty Turco has flulike symptoms and did not dress against the Florida Panthers on Friday. Dallas recalled G Matt Climie from the AHL to help back up starter Alex Auld.
Analysis: Turco is off to a good start this season, and this issue shouldn't keep him out for much longer. Feel free to use him in Fantasy Week 5 (Nov. 2-8) as a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The Stars TG pretty much has the same Fantasy value. Climie has no Fantasy value.
News:Marty Turco made 33 saves for the Stars during a 4-3 overtime win on Wednesday against the Maple Leafs. With the game tied at 2, Turco failed to control the rebound of Jason Blake's shot, and Nikolai Kulemin fired the loose puck under Turco at 13:11 of the third period. But Dallas tied the game with 2:45 left and won it in overtime as Turco moved his winning streak to three games.
Analysis: Turco has allowed more than three goals just once in nine outings this season. He should have more than four wins, but has had some issues in shootouts. Turco is playing very well in 2009-10, but he is still more of a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The Stars TG pretty much has the same Fantasy value.

Analysis: Turco has gotten off to a slow start this season, but seems to be turning things around with two wins in a row. He has allowed only three goals in his previous two starts, making 51 total saves. Continue to use Turco as a No. 2 Fantasy option. The same goes for the Stars TG.
News:Marty Turco made 24 saves for the Stars during a 4-2 win Wednesday against the Ducks. Turco held a 3-0 lead before Anaheim scored 17:52 into the second. They cut the lead to one at the 8:35 mark of the third before Steve Ott iced the game with an empty netter. Turco put an end to a two-game losing streak.
Analysis: Turco has just two wins in seven starts this season. Although, it hasn't been totally indicative of his performance. It's just some nights the Stars aren't scoring a lot. Turco is performing well enough to be considered a No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The Stars TG is also a No. 2 option.

Analysis: While Turco has just one win on the season, he has been fairly good in net for Dallas. It's just that he has either struggled in a shootout or Los Angeles hasn't given him enough offensive support. Dallas is one of those teams still trying to find its identity, so Turco remains more of a No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The Stars TG is also a No. 2 option.
News:Marty Turco stopped 26 shots for Dallas, but he didn't have much help in a 3-0 loss to the Bruins on Friday. Marc Savard beat Turco twice in the game. "During the course of the season, you'll have some games where everything goes right, and some games that are the opposite, and tonight fell into the latter category," Stars coach Marc Crawford said.
Analysis: Turco fell to 1-1-3 on the season with Friday's loss to the Bruins. Despite the poor record, Turco has a low GAA and decent save percentage. He also has one shutout. Turco will likely see less starts in 2009-10 with the arrival of Alex Auld, but he is still Dallas' unquestioned starter and a No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The Stars TG is also a No. 2 option.
News:Brenden Morrow scored twice in the opening four minutes of Dallas' four-goal first period, and Marty Turco stopped 29 shots for his 37th career shutout in the Stars' 6-0 victory over the Nashville Predators on Wednesday. Analysis: It took Turco four starts, but he finally earned a win Wednesday and did it in impressive fashion. Turco has managed six straight seasons of 30-plus wins. He has the talent to make it seven straight and should continue to start most nights despite the presence of Alex Auld. However, Turco is more of a No. 2 Fantasy goalie these days. The Stars TG is also a No. 2 option.

Turco, who made 36 saves, never led in the game, but Dallas rallied from three one-goal deficits.
Analysis: Turco, who missed a few games recently with a lower-body injury, finished the season with one win in nine appearances. He started the season on a low note, got hot in the middle and then finished again slumping. Turco has been on the decline the last few seasons, but has still managed 30-plus wins for six straight seasons. He will likely achieve that number again in 2009-10 as long as he is healthy, so consider him a high-end No. 2 Fantasy goalie Draft Day. The Stars TG will also be a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: Stars G Marty Turco did not start Thursday against the Stars, but was healthy enough to dress as Matt Climie's backup after missing two games with a lower-body injury.
Analysis: Turco has pretty much carried the load in net this season for Dallas, so he deserves some rest down the stretch since Dallas is out of the playoff picture. Turco has had his ups-and-downs this season and has projected more as a No. 2 Fantasy goalie. That should be his status as well heading into 2009-10.

News: Dallas' Matt Climie made 22 saves in his NHL debut on Saturday, replacing top goalie Marty Turco, out with a lower-body injury he suffered Thursday against Calgary. Turco is considered day to day and is questionable for Tuesday's game at Minnesota.
Analysis: If Turco is felling any pain at all, the Stars have little to no reason to start him as they have been eliminated from playoff contention. Turco is a risky play in the upcoming scoring period but is a No. 2 Fantasy option if you're willing to take the risk. If you have a comparable option, go with that instead.

Craig Conroy then scored the go-ahead goal 12:21 into the second on a tip-in. Turco needed to make just one save in the third period, but by then it was too late.
Analysis: Turco is 1-6-1 in his last eight outings. He has really had a rough run down the stretch as injuries have really depleted the Stars' linuep. Turco is back to being a No. 2 Fantasy goalie since the wins could be a little scarce in the final weeks. The Stars TG is also a No. 2 unit as they go how Turco goes.

Kings G Jonathan Quick matched Turco save for save and ultimately beat Turco in the shootout. Turco took the 1-0 shootout loss after allowing two of the three shots he faced in the shootout to get past him.
Analysis: That's just about the toughest way to possibly take a loss in hockey. You shut out your opponent for as long as you possibly can and it's still not enough. Turco has now lost five straight games but this was his first of those losses to come after regulation. His record is now 32-29-9 and should be considered a No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The Stars TG is also a No. 2 option.

Analysis: Turco has allowed four goals in three of his recent losses and the wheels appear to be coming off in Dallas after they made a strong playoff push. News: Dallas G Marty Turco wasn't sharp against the Sharks on Saturday while making 25 saves for Dallas, which is running out of time to make a playoff push with just 10 regular-season games to go. The Stars are in a three-way tie for 10th place in the Western Conference, but a 4-10-1 slump has them in danger of missing the postseason for the first time since 2002.
Analysis: Turco has lost three straight contests, allowing a combined 10 goals in those three games. His record fell to 32-28-8 on the season as his team continues to struggle to make the playoffs. Analysis: Turco came in with a 17-4-1 record and 1.72 goals-against average in his career against the Canucks. The veteran goalie was riding high from January to mid-February as Dallas surged into the playoff race, but once injuries started to settle in, Turco had trouble winning games. Turco continues to start most nights in net, but until the wins starts rolling in again, consider him a high-end No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The Stars TG is also a No. 2 Fantasy option.

Analysis: The Stars have been slipping in the standings recently, having lost four of their last six games coming into Thursday's game against Carolina. Turco plays every single night for the Stars basically which is good for Fantasy owners although it could be waring him down. He remains a No. 1 Fantasy goalie despite recent struggles and the Stars TG go as Turco goes.
News: The St. Louis Blues scored on three of their first eight shots against Marty Turco in a 5-2 victory over the Dallas Stars on Tuesday. St. Louis took a 1-0 lead just 59 seconds into the game. Turco (30-25-8) allowed three goals on eight shots before being replaced by Tobias Stephan, who stopped 17 of 19 shots the rest of the way.
Analysis: Turco has won just twice over his last nine appearances and the Stars seem to be playing themselves out of the playoff picture. Turco could use a night off with all the games he has played over the last few months. However, Dallas does need him down the stretch if they want to sneak into the playoffs. Turco does have high-end Fantasy appeal, but if the wins don't start trickling in, he is going to lose some value again. The Stars TG goes as Turco does.
News: Dallas G Marty Turco made only 16 saves and allowed three goals in a 3-1 loss to the Canadiens on Sunday. The loss was Turco's fifth in his last seven starts. Turco's record on the season fell to 30-24-8 overall.
Analysis: Turco continues to start night in and night out for the Stars, who were a resurgent team a few weeks ago, but have tailed off a bit since. Turco has been pretty good most nights, even when he loses, and should be considered a high-end option. The same goes for the Stars TG.
News:Marty Turco bounced back from one of his toughest losses this season with 36 saves, and the Dallas Stars beat the rebuilt Anaheim Ducks 3-2 on Friday. One night after stopping 19 shots in the third period of a 5-4 overtime loss up the freeway in Los Angeles and squandering a three-goal lead, Turco made 19 saves in the second period against the Ducks. Anaheim didn't score until its 34th shot on net, as James Wisniewski beat Turco with a wrist shot from 35 feet with 12:29. Bobby Ryan scored with 2:32 left, carrying the puck into the zone, stickhandling past Mike Modano and then defenseman Stephane Robidas before stuffing the puck under Turco's glove, but by then Dallas led 3-1.
Analysis: Turco should be on a three-game winning streak after losing his last four starts in February, but Thursday's overtime defeat to the Kings will leave its mark. Luckily, Turco had a short memory and beat a tough foe Friday. Dallas is fighting for their playoff life and Turco is seeing pretty much every start in net. Turco definitely has high-end Fantasy appeal, as does the Stars TG.
News:Michal Handzus scored his third goal of the game at 1:31 of overtime past Marty Turco, capping his second career hat trick and leading the Los Angeles Kings to a come-from-behind 5-4 victory over the Dallas Stars. Trailing 4-2, the Kings scored twice in the final 3:18 of regulation. Dallas got three minor penalties in a 63-second span, giving Los Angeles a two-man advantage for 1:10 late in regulation. Handzus scored his second of the game during the 5-on-3 power play, and Anze Kopitar tied it with 14 seconds left off a deflection using Stephane Robidas' skate. Turco made 35 saves in the loss.
Analysis: Turco was really beat on a fluke play with 14 seconds left as the ricochet off Robidas' skate was like a laser that found its way through Turco's legs. Although, he didn't help himself in overtime when Handzus got the game winner. Turco has just one win in his last six starts. The wheels are starting to come off in Dallas and Turco is once again losing his high-end Fantasy appeal. The Stars TG has high-end Fantasy appeal as long as Turco is winning, which is not the case right now.
News: Stars G Marty Turco stopped 24 shots during a 4-1 win against the Sharks Tuesday. Turco never trailed in the game and allowed his only goal to Joe Thornton on a power play 9:07 into the first period. Turco, who also had a secondary assist on a Mike Modano power-play score, then made 20 saves over two scoreless periods to close out the win and stop a personal four-game losing skid.
Analysis: Turco has a career-high five assists in 2008-09 and 18 in his career -- all coming in the last six seasons. He is just one win shy of having 30 or more for a sixth straight season as well. Turco has played fairly well since December despite his recent four-game slump and has re-emerged as a high-end Fantasy goalie. The Stars TG also has high-end Fantasy appeal as long as Turco is winning.
News: Stars G Marty Turco made just 14 saves during a 4-3 loss to the Ducks Saturday. Turco fell behind 2-0 after one period before heading into the third locked in a 2-all tie. Dallas took a 3-2 lead before Corey Perry and Teemu Selanne scored twice within a two-minute span. Turco suffered a fourth straight loss.
Analysis: Turco allowed more than three goals for the first time since Jan. 15 Saturday. He hasn't been that bad as of late, but Dallas has struggled after losing a few key players to injuries. This could be the time Turco finally unravels and reverts to being a No. 2 Fantasy goalie again. The Stars TG pretty much goes how Turco does since he starts pretty much every night.
News: Stars G Marty Turco made 19 saves during a 3-1 loss to the Blues Thursday. With the game tied at 1, T.J. Oshie skated in from the right side and lifted a sharp-angle shot over Turco's shoulder at 6:50 of the third period. Patrik Berglund added the insurance goal just a few minutes later. Turco lost a third straight start but hasn't allowed more than three goals in that span.
Analysis: Despite the recent three-game drought, Turco hasn't reverted to his early-season form in which wins eluded him left-and-right. No, Dallas just can't seem to score as of late after losing a few key players to injury. Turco has still looked strong in net. However, if the wins do start to fade again, Turco might lose his No. 1 Fantasy goalie status. The Stars TG also has high-end Fantasy appeal for the time being.
News:Devin Setoguchi scored with 12:05 remaining past Marty Turco, Evgeni Nabokov stopped 29 shots for his 45th career shutout, and the Sharks extended their winning streak to four games with a 1-0 victory over the Dallas Stars on Monday night. Setoguchi stickhandled up the right side and skated around Stars defenseman Darryl Sydor to get free, then fired a low shot from the circle that beat Turco to the stick side. Turco, who made 23 saves, felt he should have stopped Setoguchi's shot, missing the puck by inches. "Hindsight is always a beautiful thing and I wish I could have had that one back," Turco said. "You'd like to be in good position and take away that spot. If I was one inch over to the right and in a perfect square position, I would have had a lot better chance of saving it."
Analysis: Turco has lost his last two starts while allowing just four goals. He hasn't allowed more than three goals in his last 17 starts, but defense might not be enough for the Stars. They need to start scoring more if they want to make the playoffs. Turco has been solid for the Stars over the last month and has regained his status as a No. 1 Fantasy goalie. The Stars TG also has high-end Fantasy appeal.
News: Dallas G Marty Turco was outdueled by Blackhawks G Cristobal Huet in a 3-1 loss on Saturday. Turco made 33 saves in the game as his record fell to 28-20-7 on the season. He had won three of his last four starts coming into the contest against Chicago.
Analysis: Turco has been mostly on fire of late, and the performance against Chicago does little to change that fact. He has been outstanding in the second half of the season and has his team in position to make a playoff charge. He is a No. 1 option at this point and the Stars TG remains a high-end unit.
News: Dallas' Marty Turco, who had 21 saves in a 4-2 win over the Oilers, started his 28th straight game to extend a club record. Turoc allowed two goals in the game and improved his record to 17-6 all-time against Edmonton.
Analysis: For the season, Turco is 28-19-7 having won three of his last four starts. He is having a terrific second half of the season and should be once again thought of as a No. 1 option. The Stars TG is also a high-end option.
News:James Neal scored the only goal in the shootout and Marty Turco had 41 saves Monday night to lead the Dallas Stars past the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2. Neal, 6-for-9 in shootouts this season, slipped the puck past Steve Mason on the glove side. Turco, tested all night, then made a blocker save on Blue Jackets captain Rick Nash to preserve the win as he stopped all three shots in the shootout.
Analysis: Turco hasn't allowed more than three goals in his last 14 outings and has been rock solid in net for Dallas ever since December. He is back to being an elite Fantasy goalie as the Stars make a serious playoff push in the Western Conference. The Stars TG also has high-end Fantasy appeal, again.
News: Dallas' Marty Turco started his 26th straight start game against the Blackhwaks in as 6-2 loss to extend his franchise record. He made 24 saves on 27 shots through two periods, including several difficult stops, as Chicago dominated. Brent Krahn replaced Turco to start the third period and make his NHL debut. He permitted three goals on nine shots.
Analysis: Turco had been rock solid lately, but all good things must come to a close as he gets pulled against the Blackhawks on Saturday. He's doing a great job in the second half of the season and should be considered a No. 1 Fantasy option right now. The Stars TG is also a high-end option assuming Turco returns to his old self.
News:Marty Turco made 32 saves in the Stars' 2-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Friday night. Taylor Pyatt beat Turco from the right circle to give Vancouver a 1-0 lead at 5:28 of the first, but the veteran goalie didn't allow another score the rest of the way. Turco, starting his 25th consecutive game to extend a club record, made a glove save on Henrik Sedin's shot as time was about to expire in the second. Turco, who also had his fourth assist of the season, then made a sprawling stop on Ryan Kesler to end a power-play threat seconds into the third. Turco, who stopped 14 shots in the third, got a little help when Alexandre Burrows' shot hit the left post with a minute left in the game.
Analysis: Turco has been unreal as of late, winning eight of his last 10 starts. He hasn't allowed more than a goal in three straight starts and is doing all this while not taking a night off since December. Turco is in a zone right now and is back to being a No. 1 Fantasy option. The Stars TG also has high-end Fantasy appeal again.
News: Dallas G Marty Turco had yet another strong game against the Coyotes on Wednesday but was unable to come away with the win as Ilya Bryzgalov shut out the Stars in a 1-0 game. The loan goal was scored by Enver Lisen in the second period off of Turco who made 28 saves in the game.
Analysis: Sometimes you get unlucky, and that's exactly what happened to Turco on Wednesday. The veteran goalie has played much better of late and has now lost only twice since the game before the All-Star break. He is once again a No. 1 goalie in Fantasy play. The Stars TG is also a high-end option.
News:The Sports Xchange reports of all the Stars looking forward to the All-Star break in late January, goaltender Marty Turco was probably the giddiest about it. He has played the bulk of the Stars' games this season, and he's just fine with that. But with the crazed schedule comes fatigue, and Turco was looking forward to the chance to recharge the batteries. Apparently the All-Star weekend respite worked, because Turco, who has started 23 consecutive games, has won six of his seven starts since then. His great work is a far cry from the shaky, goal-riddled outings he had through the season's first three months, and it's a big reason why the Stars are now No. 5 in the Western Conference.
Analysis: Turco came away big again this weekend, when the Stars played three games in four days. They won two, including Sunday's 4-1 victory over Nashville in which Turco stopped 25 of 26 shots. "I need to be playing with poise and confidence and make saves regardless of what happens with rebounds and blocked shots," Turco said. "I'm trusting my teammates, like a few times tonight, to get the back door and sweep away rebounds. I don't think anybody in here cares what the reasons are (for the team's turnaround). We know what we need to do, and nothing can change for us to maintain this type of pace and all the guys know that." The Stars are in a heated Western Conference playoff race and will need all they can get from Turco, who has regained his status as a No. 1 Fantasy goalie. The Stars TG is also back to being a high-end Fantasy option.
News: Dallas G Marty Turco continued to dominate his opposition on Sunday, giving up only one goal and making 25 saves in a 4-1 win over Nashville. He has won six of his last seven starts, giving up only three goals to Colorado in his only loss. The lone goal allowed by Turco came at the hands of Jason Arnott who scored for the 20th time in the game.
Analysis: Turco got off to a pretty slow start this season but since the All-Star break and even before it, he has looked like the old Marty Turco. The win on Sunday was his 25th of the season as he improved his overall record to 25-17-7. He has worked himself back into being a No. 1 Fantasy goalie. The Stars TG is also a high-end unit at the moment.
News: Stars G Marty Turco got plenty of offensive support Friday against the Rangers and cruised to a 10-2 win. Turco, who made 20 saves, fell behind 1-0 before Dallas scored three unanswered goals. New York cut the lead to 3-2 3:05 into the second before Dallas finished the scoring by netting the final seven goals of the game, including six in the third against Steve Valiquette, who was starting in place of Henrik Lundqvist (flu).

Analysis: Turco actually did face a barrage of shots from Columbus and the game was close at the beginning of the second period. However, the stat line makes it seem like it was a cake walk. The All-Star left winger's best chance came when he was alone in front of the net with less than seven minutes left in the first period but was denied by Turco's glove save.
Analysis: Turco began the season with just one win in his first five outings, so his second half has gotten off to a much better start. Turco has won four of his last six starts and Dallas has been a much better team since December. It's no surprise they have played a lot better since team cancer Sean Avery was shown the door. "I know he went to school here (Michigan), he's from the Sault (St. Marie) in Canada, which is obviously a border city," Maltby said. "I don't know. I don't want to presume anything but we just try and go out and for some reason, he hasn't had a lot of success here, which is obviously good for us." Turco allowed four goals before Stephan made 13 saves on 15 shots in the third.

Mike Modano scored in the shootout's fourth round, and Turco stopped Ryan Smyth's shot to give the Stars a 2-1 victory over the Avalanche on Friday. Colorado's Wojtek Wolski converted in the first round, but Turco was perfect the next three rounds to end the Avalanche's unbeaten streak in shootouts at eight -- the third-longest streak in the league since the tiebreaker system was implemented in 2005. Seconds after Modano's goal, Turco came up with night's biggest stop on Smyth to end it. The goaltender had given up the tying goal to Marek Svatos with 55.5 seconds left in regulation, spoiling Turco's bid for his 34th career shutout. "It's an awesome sign," Turco said. "The late goal didn't rattle this crew." Turco had 26 saves in the win.
Analysis: Turco denied Colorado's Tyler Arnason from close range with a little over five minutes left in regulation, and made a sliding save on Smyth's rebound attempt with 11:34 to play. But Svatos' late goal denied Dallas' first shutout of the season. Once the Avalanche got into the shootout, they figured to have an advantage, having won their first four tiebreakers this season. Colorado has more skilled players than Dallas, but Turco was able to negate that edge in one of his best performances of the season. Turco began the night with a 3.51 goals-against average, 1.28 higher than his career average. Turco has not had a banner year by any stretch of the imagination, but has won four of his last six starts and might finally be turning the corner. Analysis: It has not been a storybook season for Turco in 2008-09 and there is no telling yet if he can turn it around. He has just seven wins in 21 outings and has looked awful at times. We thought he might lose his appeal as a No. 1 Fantasy goalie, but we didn't expect the former All-Star to drop this far. Turco is at best a low-end No. 2 Fantasy goalie until he can right the ship. The Stars TG has also lost a lot of Fantasy appeal.

Analysis: Turco improves to 6-9-4 on the season with the win on Wednesday. That is still a brutal record for a guy who came into the year as a No. 1 goaltender. He's now dropped to a No. 2, but he's barely hanging on to that status with the way he continues to struggle. The Stars TG also remains a reserve option.

Analysis: Turco allowed more than three goals for the first time in six starts Thursday. It was also his first game since Dallas traded defenseman Philippe Boucher to the Penguins. Turco was just starting to get going with Sergei Zubov back in the lineup, so hopefully he doesn't fall off now that Boucher is out of the picture. Turco has had a tough year and has fallen to a No. 2 Fantasy option. The Stars TG is also suffering with Turco's poor play.
News: Dallas defeated the Phoenix Coyotes 3-2 on Saturday night as goalie Marty Turco stopped 25 shots to improve to 5-7-3 on the season.
Analysis: Turco was coming off a loss against the Kings but has been limiting the damage done against him. He's allowed at most three goals in any of his last five games. He has hit rock bottom here in 2008-09, but it's not all bad news as of late for Turco. He did get Sergei Zubov back four games ago, and since then, Turco has allowed more than two goals just once. Zubov is doing a good job cleaning up in front of Turco, who could be getting backing to being a reliable option in net. For now, treat Turco as a No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The Stars TG owners should also have curbed expectations.

Turco was replaced by Stephan after John Madden's second goal at 10:17. Stephan made 10 saves in relief.
Analysis: This is the second time in seven starts this season that Turco has been pulled from a game. Coach Dave Tippett has been very disappointed with Turco's performance thus far and Fantasy owners can't be happy with just two wins. Turco got off to a slow start in 2007-08 before turning it around, so there is hope yet. Continue to treat him as a low-end No. 1/high-end No. 2 Fantasy goalie. The Stars TG also has high-end Fantasy potential.

Turco has what it takes to be a high-end Fantasy goalie, so despite the slow start, stick with him. The Stars TG also has Fantasy potential.
News: Stars G Marty Turco gave up five goals in Saturday's 5-4 loss against Colorado. He stopped 17 shots in the game. He's allowed five goals in back-to-back games and has given up that many in three of his first five starts.
Analysis: Turco is off to a very poor start this season with three losses and four or more goals in four of the five games. He got off to a sluggish start in 2007-08 before turning it on, so let's hope he can turn the corner eventually. He is kind of hurting without Sergei Zubov in front of him. Continue to consider Turco a high-end Fantasy option in the long run. The Stars TG also has high-end potential despite the early struggles.
News:The Sports Xchange reports Poor goaltending. Poor work ethic. Plenty of mistakes. The blame for the Stars' woes is widespread. And Thursday was another example of how it starts in goal and works its way through the lineup. Marty Turco's numbers continue to balloon. His 4.59 goals-against average and .822 save percentage are dismal, and he was out after two periods in another bad showing against the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night. Turco allowed five goals on 18 shots before Tobias Stephan took over for the third period. Turco has allowed at least three goals in each of his four starts."When your team needs you most, you want to be there; right now, I'm certainly not," Turco said. "It's a selfish position and one that needs more of my attention, especially the way things are going."
Analysis: But coach Dave Tippett said the blame doesn't stop there. "The goaltending has been poor and top players are not playing with the commitment we need to win hockey games," he said. "The goalie has to take a big responsibility because we rely on him to be one of our top players. But that doesn't take the other 19 off the hook." Turco has won just one of his first four starts and even in his win Wednesday against the Predators he allowed four goals. He has allowed a total of 17 goals in four games and is not looking like the All-Star of old. He got off to a sluggish start in 2007-08 before turning it on, so let's hope he can turn the corner eventually. He is kind of hurting without Sergei Zubov in front of him. Continue to consider Turco a high-end Fantasy option. The Stars TG also has high-end potential.

Analysis: Turco had a really rough opener as he was strong through the first two periods before losing his cool in the third. He got off to a slow start as well in 2007-08 before turning it on in December. He doesn't have Mike Smith to push him anymore, but Dallas is hoping to get rookie Tobias Stephan about 20-25 appearances. Still, you can treat Turco as a high-end Fantasy option.

News: The Stars announced Thursday that D Philippe Boucher is day to day with a sore foot and D Sergei Zubov is expected to miss at least a month after hip surgery. Dallas is set to open training camp Friday. The two both had injury-plagued 2007-08 seasons and that didn't help goalie Marty Turco, who had just 32 wins -- his lowest total since 2002-03 (31).
Analysis: Turco struggled at times last season as Zubov and Boucher rode the pine. The fact the duo is already battling injuries this earlier in the season doesn't bode well for the 33-year-old Turco. Consider him more of a high-end No. 2 Fantasy goalie on Draft Day. His days as a solid No. 1 option could be in the past.
News:Teemu Selanne and Chris Kunitz had goals against Dallas goalie Marty Turco in the shootout and that proved the difference in Anaheim's 3-2 win Sunday. Turco had 30 saves, including a couple of fine stops in the overtime when the Ducks outshot the Stars 5-3. Turco is winless in six of his last seven outings (1-4-2).
Analysis: Turco was nothing short out of outstanding in February as he won 9 of 11 starts and posted a 1.90 GAA. It has been a different story in March. He has won just twice in 11 starts and has a 2.40 GAA. Turco still plays for one of the better teams in the Western Conference and starts pretty much every game. Continue to keep him, and the Stars TG, active in most formats. Just hope a winning trend is coming.

"Maybe I was a little too excited," Holmqvist said. "But no excuses. I'm disappointed. It was a big night for me, and I let the team down." He remains a solid No. 1 option, as does the Stars TG.

He lost his shutout bid with three and a half minutes left in the game.

"At one point in the third period, you think, 'This is a goalie duel.' And you try to hold up your end of the bargain," Turco said. "When we talk about goaltending around here, it's all about giving the team a chance to win. Most of all, it's a team effort and doing your part.
