Capitals' Burakovsky Reassigned To AHL Hershey

News: Andre Burakovsky was reassigned to AHL Hershey on Friday, Alex Prewitt of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: With the Capitals eliminated by the Rangers on Wednesday, Andre Burakovsky will join the Bears for an AHL playoff run. The 20-year-old should be a candidate to make the Capitals' roster out of training camp next season.

Capitals' Burakovsky Lights The Lamp Twice

News: Andre Burakovsky had both goals for the Capitals in their Game 4 win over the Rangers on Wednesday.
Analysis: These are Andre Burakovsky's first two goals of the playoffs, and he only has three points in nine games. He's only 20, and only has 53 regular season games to his name, so he is more a name for the future than the present.

Capitals' Burakovsky Recalled From AHL Hershey

News: Andre Burakovsky was recalled from AHL Hershey on Sunday.
Analysis: Andre Burakovsky, the 23rd overall pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, has 22 points (nine goals) through the first 50 games of his rookie season, along with an impressive plus-12 rating. He's an interesting breakout candidate for 2015-16, although his solid rookie season means he probably won't fly under the radar.

Caps Send Burakovsky To AHL

News: Andre Burakovsky was assigned to AHL Hershey on Sunday, the Capitals' official site reports.
Analysis: Andre Burakovsky, who has notched 22 points in 50 games with Washington to date, figures to be back with the big club in time, but for now he'll head to the AHL, while fellow forward Chris Conner has been recalled by the Caps.

Caps Recall Burakovsky From AHL

News: Andre Burakovsky was recalled from AHL Hershey on an emergency basis Friday.
Analysis: With Jay Beagle nursing an upper-body injury and Michael Latta (upper-body) not quite ready to play, the Capitals brought up the 20-year-old forward from the AHL ranks. Andre Burakovsky is slated to play the left wing on the fourth line with Brooks Laich and Tom Wilson, so unless he gets more prominent ice time, his fantasy value will remain limited to deeper leagues.

Caps Reassign Burakovsky

News: Andre Burakovsky was reassigned to AHL Hershey on Sunday.
Analysis: Andre Burakovsky was a late scratch from the lineup Saturday as Alex Ovechkin was able to give it a go despite a previous lower-body injury. As an emergency recall, he was required to be returned following the contest, and that is indeed the case.

Caps' Burakovsky A Late Scratch Saturday

News: Andre Burakovsky was a late scratch from the lineup for Saturday's game against the Sabres, Alex Prewitt of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: As an emergency recall, Andre Burakovsky's status has been tied to the availability of Alex Ovechkin, who appears to have recovered from a lower-body injury. Unless the Capitals use one of their four non-emergency recalls to keep Burakovsky in D.C., he's likely headed back to AHL Hershey.

Caps' Burakovsky In Limbo As Ovechkin Nears Return

News: Andre Burakovsky would be sent back to AHL Hershey if Ovechkin (lower-body) is able to play Saturday night, Alex Prewitt of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Per the rules of emergency recalls, Andre Burakovsky would be immediately sent to AHL Hershey if Ovechkin, currently ailing from a lower body injury, is able to play Saturday night. This puts Burakovsky owners in a bit of a bind, as the final determination for Ovechkin playing isn't likely to be made until just prior to the start of the game. Given that they are facing Buffalo on the second half of a back-to-back road trip, odds are the Capitals will give Ovechkin another night off, but check for updates before puck drop for a final word, and have a backup plan for Burakovsky.

Caps Recall Burakovsky

News: The Capitals recalled Andre Burakovsky from AHL Hershey on Thursday, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Andre Burakovsky, who has played in 48 games with Washington this season, recording 21 points in the process, rejoins the big club to provide depth up front after a brief demotion to the AHL in the wake of Monday's NHL trade deadline.

Caps To Reassign Burakovsky

News: Andre Burakovsky will be reassigned to AHL Hershey on Monday, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: It appears Sunday's acquisition of Curtis Glencross will bump Andre Burakovsky from the 23-man roster. Coach Barry Trotz hasn't ruled out Burakovsky returning to the Capitals in the coming days, but with a regular spot in the lineup seemingly unavailable for him, it seems more likely that he'll stick at Hershey and pick up a larger share of minutes.

Caps' Burakovksy Poised To Play Wednesday

News: Andre Burakovsky is poised to return to the lineup for Wednesday night's game against the Penguins, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Andre Burakovsky took line rushes with Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom during Wednesday's morning skate, so it looks like he'll draw back in after serving as a healthy scratch for Sunday's loss to the Flyers. Though he only has nine goals and 21 points on the season, Burakovsky warrants lineup consideration in daily formats while he skates next to two of the game's top talents. His value is a bit more muddled in season-long formats, as he remains part of a right-wing-by-committee approach right now, so it's difficult to trust him for more than an occasional start.

Caps' Burakovsky Won't Play Sunday

News: Andre Burakovsky won't play in Sunday's game against the Flyers, Tim Panaccio of CSN Philadelphia reports.
Analysis: Andre Burakovsky was on the ice for warmups, but apparently he will be a healthy scratch for the contest. Jason Chimera will draw into the lineup in his place Sunday.

Caps' Burakovsky Scores Two Goals In Win

News: Andre Burakovsky scored twice in Sunday's win over Anaheim.
Analysis: The 20-year-old is up to nine goals and 21 points in 42 games in his first NHL season. While he's been seeing limited ice time, Andre Burakovsky has plenty of potential and could be one of the Caps' leaders in the future. For now he remains a nice depth scorer who has plenty of value in deeper formats.

Capitals Call Up Burakovsky

News: Andre Burakovsky was recalled from AHL Hershey on Saturday.
Analysis: Andre Burakovsky didn't play a single game during his one-day stay in Hershey. The Capitals only made the move in the first place to bring up Philipp Grubauer for a spot start Friday, and since the 19-year-old Burakovsky was one of the few players on the roster who wouldn't have to clear waivers for a reassignment, he received the temporary demotion.

Caps' Burakovsky Sent To AHL Hershey

News: Andre Burakovsky was officially reassigned to AHL Hershey on Friday.
Analysis: The Capitals didn't announce right away where Andre Burakovsky would be headed after he was removed from the 23-man roster, but this report confirms what had been his expected destination. Burakovsky is expected to stick with Hershey for the weekend before potentially earning a call-up back to the big club ahead of Wednesday's game against the Sharks.

Caps Reassign Burakovsky

News: Andre Burakovsky is no longer listed on the Caps' active roster, NHL.com's Adam Vignan reports.
Analysis: The team hasn't announced the rationale behind the move, but the expectation is that Andre Burakovsky will head down to AHL Hershey for the weekend. The Capitals needed the roster spot with goalie Philipp Grubauer set to pick up a start Friday against the Ducks, but his stay with the parent club is not expected to last long. There's a good chance that Burakovsky will be recalled by the Capitals in a matter of days.

Caps Scratch Burakovsky Again

News: Andre Burakovsky will be a healthy scratch for Saturday's game against the Canadiens, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Though Andre Burakovsky resumed practicing with the top line Friday, he'll be sent to the press box for the second straight game. Burakovsky doesn't have much value if he's not seeing consistent ice time alongside Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom, and since a top-line appointment no longer appears to be a given for him, it might be time to cut ties with the rookie in certain formats. Instead, it looks like Jay Beagle will be the latest Capitals forward to keep an eye on while he rides shotgun next to the team's two stars.

Caps' Burakovsky Practices On Top Line Friday

News: Andre Burakovsky took line rushes with Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom during Friday's practice, Alex Prewitt of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Andre Burakovsky was a surprise healthy scratch for Washington's 4-0 victory over Pittsburgh despite registering two goals and two assists in Washington's prior three games. The rookie was replaced by Jay Beagle for that game, and Beagle was also practicing with Ovechkin and Backstrom on Friday. With Washington facing a back-to-back situation with Montreal and St. Louis this weekend, it's likely Burakovsky will draw back into the lineup in one of the next two games. However, Burakovsky's value is tied significantly to his keeping the RW spot opposite Washington's premier offensive talents. While this appears to be a short-term experiment, the situation is worth monitoring.

Caps' Burakovsky Notches Two Helpers

News: Andre Burakovsky assisted on one goal each by Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom in Tuesday's shootout loss to Edmonton.
Analysis: It pays to have star linemates. Andre Burakovsky's now found his way onto the scoresheet in consecutive games after having tallied just a single point in the prior six contests. His scoring remains inconsistent, but the long-term upside is extremely tantalizing.

Trotz: Will

News: Head coach Barry Trotz will "hold off" moving Andre Burakovsky back to the center position for the time being, Alex Prewitt of The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: After starting the season behind Nicklas Backstrom on the team's depth chart, the 19-year-old Swede now finds himself alongside his countryman and Alex Ovechkin on the Caps' top line. While the Capitals still hope he will be able to ultimately make then transition, for now Andre Burakovsky will get an extended look as a top line winger opposite two of the game's best players. Already rewarding his coach's trust with a goal in his first game since the promotion, it's safe to own Burakovsky for the time being.

Caps' Burakovsky Nets Goal In Win

News: Andre Burakovsky scored on his only shot in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Panthers.
Analysis: Andre Burakovsky responded well to being promoted to the team's first line, recording his fifth goal of the season and first since the end of November. After a hot start, the 19-year-old struggled throughout much of the past two months, but could gain some confidence if he continues to play alongside Alexander Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom.

Caps' Burakovsky To Play With Ovie, Backstrom

News: Andre Burakovsky appears in line to play alongside Alexander Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom on the top line Sunday against the Panthers, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: After spending the last several games as a healthy scratch or fourth-liner for the Capitals, it's quite the promotion for Andre Burakovsky. The young Swede's numbers have tailed off since a hot start to the season, but seeing the ice with two of the game's better forwards could be exactly what he needs to regain confidence and ignite production. It's worth noting that Burakovsky will become the seventh player to man a wing spot on the Ovechkin/Backstrom line this season, so a permanent deployment may not necessarily be in store.

Burakovsky Will Rejoin Caps On Monday

News: Washington coach Barry Trotz said Saturday that Andre Burakovsky will rejoin the Capitals before Monday's game against the Senators, the Washington Post's Alex Prewitt reports.
Analysis: Andre Burakovsky will only end up spending a couple of days with AHL Hershey before rejoining the big club on Monday. However, given that he was a healthy scratch in five of the last six games before his demotion, he doesn't figure to see significant playing time with the Caps.

Caps Reassign Burakovsky To AHL

News: Andre Burakovsky was reassigned to AHL Hershey on Friday, Alex Prewitt of the Washington Post reports.
Analysis: The fact that Andre Burakovsky was dropped from the 23-man roster after he was a healthy scratch in five of the team's previous six games wasn't surprising; what was more odd was that the Capitals chose not to loan him to Team Sweden for the World Junior Championship. It does appear that coach Barry Trotz has his reasons, however, as he wants to keep Burakovsky in Hershey in the event that the Capitals require a call-up for injury purposes during the upcoming road-heavy stretch of games. While in Hershey, Burakovsky will also benefit from reclaiming top-six ice time, a luxury he hasn't been afforded since the middle of November.

Caps' Burakovsky Not Headed To World Juniors

News: Andre Burakovsky will remain with the Capitals rather than being released to join Team Sweden for the upcoming IIHF World Junior Championships in Canada, The Washington Post reports.
Analysis: Given his reduced ice time and recent absence from the Capitals' lineup as a healthy scratch, there was some speculation the 19-year-old Swede would be allowed to participate in the tournament, but the Capitals appear to have closed the door on that scenario. After starting the season on the second line with Troy Brouwer and Marcus Johansson, Andre Burakovsky is now playing on the left side of a line with Michael Latta and Jay Beagle. With only two goals and five points since October, Burakovsky is a reach in single-season leagues until he reclaims a role on a scoring line.
