Lightning's Drouin Will Play In Game 2

News: Jonathan Drouin will play against Chicago in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals on Saturday, Steven Whyno of The Canadian Press reports.
Analysis: Jonathan Drouin was not included in Game 1's lineup but coach Jon Cooper apparently had a change of heart ahead of Game 2. At just 20-years-old, Drouin has been off the ice since May 7 against Montreal but will replace Nikita Nesterov's spot in the lineup nonetheless.

Bolts Make Drouin A Healthy Scratch

News: Jonathan Drouin will be a healthy scratch for Thursday's Game 1 against the Red Wings, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: With Alex Killorn (undisclosed) set to return to the lineup for the playoff opener, Jonathan Drouin was set to be bumped from a top-line role, and coach Jon Cooper determined the rookie wouldn't be an ideal fit on the checking line. The 20-year-old profiles as a fixture on the Bolts' top line for years to come, but with only four goals and 32 points in his 70 games this season, he's not quite ready for big minutes just yet.

Bolts' Drouin Over Illness

News: Jonathan Drouin (illness) participated in Monday's practice, Matt Baker of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: The illness kept Jonathan Drouin out of last Saturday's regular-season finale against the Bruins, but his return to practice suggests he's no longer feeling under the weather. The young forward had been skating on the first line with Steven Stamkos prior to sitting out Saturday, but with Alex Killorn (undisclosed) poised to return for Game 1 of the Lightning's first-round playoff series with the Red Wings, Drouin will likely be forced to assume a bottom-six role.

Lightning's Drouin Scratched Due To Illness

News: Jonathan Drouin (illness) will not play Saturday against the Bruins, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: Things were trending this way, with the team recalling Jonathan Marchessault from the AHL for depth, but Jonathan Drouin will indeed miss the regular-season finale. Drouin, 20, finishes the year with four goals and 28 assists in 70 games.

Bolts' Drouin Questionable For Saturday

News: Jonathan Drouin is feeling sick and is uncertain to play Saturday against the Bruins, Matt Baker of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: With Jonathan Drouin questionable to play in the regular-season finale, the Lightning recalled Jonathan Marchessault from AHL Syracuse as an insurance option. Drouin's status should be clarified by his participation (or lack thereof) during pregame warmups, which will take place about a half hour prior to the 7:30 ET puck drop.

Tampa's Drouin Gets Another Goal

News: Jonathan Drouin scored the Lightning's only goal in Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Senators. It came on the power play.
Analysis: The guy has some absolutely sick moves, so it comes as a surprise that it's just his fourth goal of the season. Then again, he has two goals in three games after going through a 42-game goal drought. His production is relatively sporadic, but next season will be a completely different story. Keep him in mind for 2015-16.

Bolts' Drouin Finally Tallies Goal

News: Jonathan Drouin tallied a power-play goal in Monday's 5-3 win over the Canadiens.
Analysis: A great outlet pass from goalie Ben Bishop to defenseman Anton Stralman ultimately found its way to Jonathan Drouin, who was able to fake out the Habs' Carey Price in open space for his first goal since Dec. 15, a drought that spanned 42 games. After entering the season as hockey's best prospect in the eyes of many, the 20-year-old hasn't quite had the kind of impact that was anticipated, as he's sitting below a half-point-per-game scoring pace. While Drouin might not be of much use in the fantasy playoffs, he's still regarded as an elite talent and will make for a great target in drafts and auctions next season.

Bolts' Drouin Could Be Moving Up

News: Jonathan Drouin slotted in on the Bolts' top line during Saturday's practice.
Analysis: Jonathan Drouin has served primarily in a bottom-six role over the last few weeks, but coach Jon Cooper gave the 19-year-old a chance to showcase his talents alongside Steven Stamkos to start the second period of Friday's win over the Red Wings, and he didn't disappoint. The rookie ultimately set up the game-winning goal for linemate Alex Killorn midway through the third period, earning praise from Cooper afterwards. Drouin, who is still sitting on just two goals over 61 games this season, will likely get the chance to see more top-line minutes Sunday against the Bruins, but will need to continue to make plays in order to stick there on a more permanent basis.

Bolts' Drouin Snaps Slump

News: Jonathan Drouin picked up an assist in Wednesday's win over the Ducks.
Analysis: Just when Jonathan Drouin seemed to turn a corner in January, his performance has regressed over the last three weeks. The assist was just his second point of February, and his first in eight games. Those in dynasty leagues will want to ride the course with Drouin, but those in shallower season-long formats need not wait for him to come around.

Bolts' Drouin Showing Off Vision, Playmaking

News: Jonathan Drouin picked up an assist Tuesday against the Blues and has quietly delivered five assists on his current four-game scoring streak.
Analysis: He hasn't picked up a goal since mid December, but has eight helpers in his last 11 games. His vision and playmaking are both elite and we're starting to see more consistency in that. The future is bright.

Bolts' Drouin Adds Two Assists In Win

News: Jonathan Drouin added two helpers in Tuesday's 5-1 win over the Red Wings.
Analysis: Jonathan Drouin finished as the game's third star, setting up the second of Cedric Paquette's three goals and picking up a secondary assist on Steven Stamkos' power-play tally. The rookie has gone without a goal since Dec. 15, but has recorded seven assists over his last nine contests.

Bolts' Drouin Fastest Skater In NHL

News: Jonathan Drouin won the Fastest Skater competition at the NHL All-Star Skills Competition in Columbus on Saturday night. His time was 13.103.
Analysis: He's been in and out of the lineup, but he is an elite talent. He also scored a beauty goal in another part of the competition. Short term, his value may be limited, but long term, he will be among the league's elite.

Bolts' Drouin Set For Scratch Thursday

News: Jonathan Drouin is scheduled to be a healthy scratch Thursday against the Oilers, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Brett Connolly will swap back into the lineup in place of Jonathan Drouin. The 19-year-old saw his four-game assist streak come to an end Tuesday against the Bruins.

Bolts' Drouin Headed To Rookie All-Star Skill Comp

News: Jonathan Drouin has been invited to the rookies' skills competition at the 2015 NHL all-star game weekend in Columbus, Jan. 23-25.
Analysis: The skills competition will be held on Jan. 24, but he won't get into the game Sunday. He'll join Tyler Johnson and Steven Stamkos as they represent the Bolts that weekend.

Bolts' Drouin: Assists In Three Straight

News: Jonathan Drouin collected an assist in Friday's win over the Sabres.
Analysis: It's the third straight game with an assist for the rookie, who has gone plus-2 with six shot attempts during that stretch. We're still waiting on him to channel the goal production he delivered during his time in the QMJHL, but the fact that he's producing at all represents a positive trend after he had been a healthy scratch at points in November and December.

Lightning's Drouin Returns To Action Monday

News: Jonathan Drouin (illness) will play in Monday's game against the Maple Leafs, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: Jonathan Drouin missed Saturday's game and Sunday's practice due to the ailment, but it appears that will be the extent of his absence. Drouin will line up on the Lightning's top line to the left of Steven Stamkos.

Bolts' Drouin At Morning Skate

News: Jonathan Drouin (illness) participated in the team's morning skate Monday, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Jonathan Drouin sat out Sunday's practice with the illness, but tentatively looks like he'll play Monday night against the Maple Leafs.

Lightning's Drouin (Illness) Questionable Monday

News: Jonathan Drouin (illness) is questionable for Monday's game against the Maple Leafs and probable for Wednesday against the Sabres, Erik Erlendsson of The Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Jonathan Drouin's illness cost him Saturday's game, but it isn't believed to be related to the mumps that has been spreading around the league. He was in the building Monday morning and rode the stationary bike, likely indicating he was feeling better. Drouin's status should be updated at some point before Monday's opening faceoff.

Bolts' Drouin Out Will Illness Saturday

News: Jonathan Drouin will miss Saturday's game against the Hurricanes due to an illness, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Jonathan Drouin was sent back home after showing up at the team's morning skate with the illness, and given the league-wide concern about the mumps, it's probably a wise move by the Lightning. No members of the team have been diagnosed with the virus thus far, so it's believed Drouin's illness may just be the result of the flu. Regardless, he'll be given the night off, with Cedric Paquette set to assume his spot on the Steven Stamkos line.

Bolts' Drouin Scores In Loss

News: Jonathan Drouin scored a power-play goal in Monday's 4-2 loss to the Penguins.
Analysis: Jonathan Drouin has been fighting for playing time lately, and could still ultimately be released to play for Team Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championships. It's an encouraging sign to see the 19-year-old find the back of the net, albeit for just the second time this season, and though he hasn't been great in general, the winger does have three points in his last five contests.

Will Bolts Release Drouin For World Juniors?

News: Jonathan Drouin, who was a healthy scratch Tuesday for the fourth time in the last 12 games, could still be released to play for Team Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championships. The Lightning have until December 19 to make a decision.
Analysis: The Rangers released Anthony Duclair to Team Canada on Tuesday, so the odds may be improving for Jonathan Drouin to get the same treatment ... especially with all the healthy scratches of late. Two weeks ago, he was described as a long shot for Canada.

Bolts' Drouin A Scratch Again

News: Jonathan Drouin will be a healthy scratch Tuesday against the Capitals, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: Despite recording an assist in each of his last two games, Jonathan Drouin will have to head to the press box as the Bolts continue to rotate him and J.T. Brown in and out of the lineup. It's the fourth time Drouin has been a healthy scratch this season, making him a difficult player to own in daily formats given his ever-changing lineup status.

Bolts' Scratch Drouin For Third Time

News: Jonathan Drouin wasn't present on the ice for pregame warmups and looks to be a healthy scratch Tuesday versus the Sabres, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: It's the third time that Jonathan Drouin has been a healthy scratch in his brief career. The 19-year-old has one goal and eight assists over 19 career games.

Bolts' Drouin A Scratch Again

News: Jonathan Drouin will be a healthy scratch Wednesday against the Rangers, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: It will be the second scratch in the past two weeks for Jonathan Drouin, who hasn't been helped by the Bolts' vast collection of talent at forward. Despite remaining relatively productive during his time with the Lightning with nine points in 16 games, Drouin may have to rotate in and out of the lineup with Vladislav Namestnikov and Cedric Paquette on a fairly consistent basis.

Bolts' Drouin A Healthy Scratch Saturday

News: Jonathan Drouin will be a healthy scratch Saturday, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.
Analysis: There were whispers prior to Thursday's game against the Sharks that Jonathan Drouin could be headed to the press box, but that never ended up materializing. However, after a rather invisible effort in the loss to San Jose, it appears coach Jon Cooper is following through with the plan to scratch Drouin this time, as the young forward didn't take the ice for warmups. Cedric Paquette will replace him in the lineup, but don't expect Drouin, who entered the season as arguably the top prospect in the NHL, to sit out with any regularity.
