Sens Benefit From Lazar Show Saturday

News: Curtis Lazar found twine in the second period of Saturday's 5-3 win over the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: Curtis Lazar has been held in high esteem by the Sens' brass for the work he's done this season in the team's bottom-six ranks, but with only 10 points in 56 games, he's still a long way from gaining fantasy value in most formats. The 20-year-old should take on a greater minutes load and notice more involvement on the offensive end in the years to come, though he doesn't possess as much upside as many of his other high-profile contemporaries in this year's rookie class, such as the Flames' Johnny Gaudreau and the Preds' Filip Forsberg.

Sens' Lazar Draws Back In Tuesday

News: Curtis Lazar (illness) will return to the lineup Tuesday against the Wild, Gord Wilson of TSN 1200 reports.
Analysis: Curtis Lazar missed Saturday's game against the Sharks with the flu, but resumed practicing with the team Monday. He'll rejoin Erik Condra and Jean-Gabriel Pageau on the Sens' third line.

Sens' Lazar To Sit Out With Illness Saturday

News: Curtis Lazar will miss Saturday's game against the Sharks due to an illness, Don Brennan of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Analysis: Curtis Lazar wasn't on the ice for the Senators' morning skate after apparently acquiring the illness overnight. Matt Puempel is set to assume Lazar's spot in the lineup Saturday.

Sens' Lazar Pots Second

News: Curtis Lazar potted his second goal of the season in Tuesday's loss to the Devils.
Analysis: The Senators seem to remain satisfied with Curtis Lazar's work, but his lack of scoring production or notable numbers in any other categories limit his appeal to dynasty formats. The goal gave him his first point since returning from he World Junior Championships in early January.

Sens' Lazar To Remain Out Thursday

News: Curtis Lazar will remain out of the lineup Thursday against the Avalanche, Ken Warren of the Ottawa Citizen reports.
Analysis: Curtis Lazar first rejoined the team Tuesday following the conclusion of the World Junior Championships, but coach Dave Cameron wants the youngster to get in another full practice before entering the lineup again. That should come Friday, putting Lazar on track to suit up Saturday in Arizona.

Lazar To Rejoin Senators

News: Curtis Lazar will rejoin the Senators in Philadelphia for Tuesday's game but will not play, NHL.com's Adam Kimelman reports.
Analysis: After captaining the Canadian team to the title in the World Junior Championships, Curtis Lazar heads back to Ottawa, where he won't play nearly as vital a role in his team's successes. Upon his reentry into the Senators' lineup, the rookie is expected to fill a bottom-six role. He's accumulated seven points in 27 games this season.

Senators' Lazar Will Play In Junior Championships

News: The Senators announced on Thursday that they will loan Curtis Lazar to Team Canada for the upcoming World Junior Hockey Championship.
Analysis: Curtis Lazar will officially join the Canadian squad on Friday and won't count against the Sens' 23-man roster limit while he remains away from the NHL club. The tournament runs from Dec. 26 through Jan. 5, so Lazar figures to return to Ottawa either after the tournament concludes or when Team Canada is eliminated.

Sens' Lazar Gets First NHL Goal

News: Curtis Lazar scored his first NHL goal in Monday's loss to the Sabres.
Analysis: The goal came on Curtis Lazar's only shot of the game and marked his first point since Nov. 13, ending an 11-game drought. The 19-year-old hasn't made much of an impact as the center for Ottawa's fourth line this season, but the team remains content with developing him at the NHL level. It appears he won't be loaned to the Canadian team for the upcoming World Junior Championships, Sportsnet reports.

Sens' Lazar Returning Monday

News: Curtis Lazar (undisclosed) will return to the lineup Monday against the Red Wings.
Analysis: The rookie center is still in search of his first NHL goal, but has tallied six assists in his first 15 games. He'll return to the lineup in place of Colin Greening.

Sens' Lazar Won't Play Saturday

News: Curtis Lazar (undisclosed) will not play Saturday against the Blues, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Analysis: Head coach Paul MacLean said Curtis Lazar could play Saturday if he needed to, but the team would rather be cautious with him. The nature of Lazar's injury is still unknown, but it sounds like a good bet that he'll be back in the lineup Monday against the Red Wings.

Sens' Lazar Practicing Again

News: Curtis Lazar, who missed Thursday's game with an undisclosed injury, was back practicing Friday, TSN's Steve Lloyd reports.
Analysis: Curtis Lazar's return to practice suggests the injury he's dealing with doesn't seem to be overly concerning. The Senators will likely check in on his status Saturday morning before determining if he can play later that afternoon against the Blues.

Lazar To Remain With Senators

News: The Senators announced Wednesday that the team would keep Curtis Lazar with the NHL club for the full season, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Analysis: Curtis Lazar's nine-game trial period came to an end Tuesday against the Red Wings, with the Senators apparently encouraged enough by his play to keep him around for the long haul. The 19-year-old has generated only three points in nine games, but his capable play on both ends of the ice has made him a better real-life than fantasy asset. Though he ranks among the top prospects in all of hockey, Lazar doesn't appear to have the point-per-game upside of some of his peers on those lists.

Sens' Lazar Struggling To Produce

News: Curtis Lazar has one point and 10 shots on goal through six games with the Senators.
Analysis: As the Senators' top forward prospect, Curtis Lazar impressed the team's brass enough in training camp to make the NHL squad as a 19-year-old, but hasn't done much offensively yet to warrant excitement. It hasn't helped his cause that the Senators haven't used him much on the power play and have primarily assigned him to checking-line duties. The team could decide sooner or later that Lazar would be better served seeing more ice time on a scoring line at AHL Binghamton.

Lazar Makes Sens' Roster

News: Curtis Lazar will be on the Senators' opening night roster, Steve Lloyd of TSN reports.
Analysis: Curtis Lazar has yet to make his professional debut, but was impressive enough in training camp to warrant a roster spot at the age of 19. There's a good chance he'll spend some time with AHL Binghamton this year as well, but he's expected to begin the season centering Chris Neil and Colin Greening.
