Canes' Lindholm Struggling On Offense

News: Elias Lindholm has just a single assist through five games so far this season, along with a minus-2 rating and five shots on goal.
Analysis: It's been a disappointing start for Elias Lindholm, who was promoted to a top-six role this year after registering 21 points in 58 games last season. That said, Lindholm hasn't had much help, as the banged-up Canes have thus far been dealing with an assortment of injuries to the likes of Eric Staal (upper body), Jordan Staal (broken leg) and Jeff Skinner (concussion). Now that Skinner is back in the lineup and skating on the second line with Lindholm, hopefully things will turn around soon for the talented young Swede. Feel free to deply him as you normally would, however it's worth noting that Lindholm is currently worth much more in keeper leauges compared to single-season formats.

Canes' Lindholm To Practice Tuesday

News: Elias Lindholm (foot) has been diagnosed with a bruise and is expected to rejoin his teammates for practice Tuesday, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: All signs here point to Elias Lindholm being ready to roll when the Hurricanes host the Islanders in their season opener Friday.

Possible Foot Injury For Canes' Lindholm

News: Elias Lindholm left Sunday's preseason game against Washington after blocking a shot with his foot, according to the Raleigh News & Observer.
Analysis: There was no immediate update on Elias Lindholm following the game, so hopefully this is an indication that he did not suffer any serious injury on the play. Consider him day-to-day for now until more information becomes available.

Canes' Lindholm Pots Three In Win Over Sabres

News: Elias Lindholm registered a hat trick in Friday's 5-1 preseason win over the Sabres.
Analysis: After a fine training camp and preseason, it looks like the 19-year-old Elias Lindholm has secured himself a spot on the Canes' second line alongside Jeff Skinner and rookie Victor Rask. He's worth a late-round sleeper selection in most fantasy formats.

Canes Prefer To Keep Lindholm On Wing

News: Updating a previous report, the Canes are more in favor of keeping Elias Lindholm on the wing, instead of moving him to the No. 2 center spot in place of the injured Jordan Staal, according to Luke DeCock of the Raleigh News & Observer.
Analysis: While Elias Lindholm may still see some time at the center position, the Canes feel moving him there full time will leave them weaker on the wings, where they have even fewer options. The plan instead - at least initially - will be to move third-line center Riley Nash into Staal's spot on the second line, and also give rookie Victor Rask a look anchoring the third unit.

Canes' Lindholm Shifting From Wing To Center

News: Elias Lindholm will likely be shifted from wing to center, filling in for Jordan Staal who suffered a broken leg during a preseason game Tuesday, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Analysis: So far in training camp, Elias Lindholm had been skating on the Canes' top line with Eric Staal and Jeff Skinner, so a move down to the second line would certainly have a negative impact on Lindholm's fantasy value to start the season. Hopefully, the team finds another option for the No. 2 center position between now and opening night, allowing Lindholm to shift back up to the top line. Monitor carefully.
