Flames' Monahan Adds Goal, Assist In Win

News: Sean Monahan collected a goal and an assist in Wednesday's 3-1 win over the Devils.
Analysis: The center is still just 20 years old, and should be a quality fantasy choice for years to come. He's up to 21 goals and 21 assists on the year to go along with a plus-2 rating in 61 games.

Calgary's Monahan Registers Assist

News: Sean Monahan notched an assist in a 3-2 overtime loss to Minnesota on Wednesday.
Analysis: Sean Monahan has improved his passing from last year, as he has 20 assists already compared to 12 all of last season. The 20-year-old center has 19 goals to go with those 20 helpers in 58 games, and is on his way to becoming a stellar fantasy producer for the future. He also has five points in his last three games and is a great start while he's on this hot streak.

Flames' Monahan: Back-To-Back Two-Point Efforts

News: Sean Monahan dished out two assists in Monday's 4-3 overtime win over the Bruins.
Analysis: Sean Monahan only had one shot attempt on the night, but he was an integral member of the Flames' rally from a 3-0 deficit. After finding Jiri Hudler for his first of two third-period goals, Monahan picked up a secondary helper on T.J. Brodie's game-winner with two seconds remaining in overtime. Monahan has four points in his last two contests.

Monahan's Two Goals Lead Flames To Victory

News: Sean Monahan potted a pair of goals in Saturday's win over the Canucks.
Analysis: The 20-year-old has been a beast in his second NHL season, scoring eight goals in his last 13 games. The first-line center has 36 points in 56 games, putting him on track for a 50-point season. The youngster is going to be leading the Flames for years to come and should be owned in almost all formats.

Flames' Monahan To Play Thursday

News: Sean Monahan, updating a previous report, had a recovery day but will play in Thursday's game against the Kings.
Analysis: Sean Monahan was held out of practice on Wednesday and due to an illness that has affected a few of his teammates, there was some initial speculation that he might have also come down with the same bug. The 20-year-old has been playing well of late, registering nine points in his last 11 contests.

Flames' Monahan Out Of Practice Wednesday

News: Sean Monahan did not skate with the team at practice on Wednesday, the team's radio announcer Derek Wills reports.
Analysis: The reason for Sean Monahan's absence is not entirely clear, but it's possible that he's caught the illness that has been going around throughout the team. If that's the case, his status for Thursday's contest against the Kings could be in jeopardy.

Point Streak Hits Three For Flames' Monahan

News: Sean Monahan chipped in an assist in Wednesday's 3-1 win over the Sharks.
Analysis: Sean Monahan didn't attempt a shot Wednesday, but was able to extend his point streak to three games with a secondary helper on Jiri Hudler's game-winning power-play goal. The 20-year-old has been on fire since mid-January, recording six goals and three assists over his last nine games.

Flames' Monahan Tallies Assist In Win

News: Sean Monahan tallied an assist in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Sabres.
Analysis: Though the 20-year-old saw his goal streak hit the skids at four games, he was at least able to keep his run of consecutive games with a point alive. His quick learning curve as the team's No. 1 center has been a key reason the Flames have been surprisingly competitive in the Western Conference this season. With 15 goals and 16 assists in 48 games, he's just three points shy of matching the point total he posted as a rookie.

Flames' Monahan Scores In Overtime

News: Sean Monahan scored the overtime-winning goal Saturday against the Sharks.
Analysis: After going 13 straight games without scoring, Sean Monahan has now found twine in back-to-back games. The 20-year-old is up to 13 goals and 28 points in 45 games, to go with a plus-7 rating. With three game-winning goals, 114 shots on goal, and eight power-play points, Monahan is a solid all-around fantasy option. One thing to note is the lack of PIM. Monahan is a nice guy, so he has taken only two penalties all season. On track for 25 goals and 50 points, the youngster makes for a solid play in most formats.

Flames' Monahan Tacks On Late Points

News: Sean Monahan picked up an assist and an empty-net goal in the final 4:02 of Thursday's 4-1 win over the Coyotes.
Analysis: The Flames would have won even without those two tallies, but they added some nice cushion to their lead as well as to Sean Monahan's stat line. He'd gone four straight without a point before busting out with these late-game points, and inconsistency has dogged Monahan since the start of December.

Flames' Monahan Dishes Pair Of Tallies

News: Sean Monahan dished out two helpers in Wednesday's 4-3 OT win over the visiting Oilers.
Analysis: That's 11 goals and 14 assists in 39 games for Sean Monahan, who is just nine points off the total of 34 he set last year in his rookie season. The fact that the 2013 sixth-overall pick's 25 points are good for fifth on the team is a testament to how far Calgary has come this season. Also, Monahan's 99 SOG lead the team and have him just outside the league's top 50 (53) in that department, which is especially impressive since he threw just 140 pucks on net last year in 36 more games.

Flames' Monahan Assists Monday

News: Sean Monahan notched an assist in Monday's win over the Kings.
Analysis: The scoring pace has slowed for the 20-year-old in recent weeks with the Flames suffering a long losing streak, but Sean Monahan still has a respectable 23 points in 38 games. While Monahan would surely benefit from an appointment to the top trio with the team's best finisher, Johnny Gaudreau, coach Bob Hartley appears content to divide the talent up between his top two lines.

Flames' Monahan Nets 11th Goal

News: Sean Monahan recorded his 11th goal of the campaign in a 4-3 loss to the Sabres on Thursday.
Analysis: There hasn't been a sophomore slump for the talented 20-year-old, as he has 20 points in 30 games and is on pace for a 30-goal season. He is one of the burgeoning stars in the league, and should be good for a long time.

Flames' Monahan Puts Home OT Winner

News: Sean Monahan picked up an assist in regulation and scored the game-winning goal in overtime Thursday against Colorado.
Analysis: Sean Monahan's point streak now sits at five games, and he's gone plus-4 with two goals and four assists in that span. The No. 6 pick in 2013 continues to show impressive development -- he's on pace to clear more than 50 points this season.

Flames' Monahan Streaking

News: Sean Monahan potted his ninth goal of the season and finished with a plus-2 rating in Tuesday's win over the Coyotes.
Analysis: Sean Monahan has recorded a point in four straight games, further solidifying himself as the focal point of the Flalmes' forward attack. With 17 points on the season, the 20-year-old is already halfway to the total he posted over his entire rookie season.

Flames' Monahan Scores Eighth Goal

News: Sean Monahan's goal in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Blackhawks was his eighth of the season.
Analysis: Even more impressive than his eight-goal total is that they've all come in the last 12 games. He has seven points in nine November games and is a solid start in most leagues.

Flames' Monahan Keeps Rolling

News: Sean Monahan potted his seventh goal of the season in a 5-3 win over the Coyotes on Thursday.
Analysis: Sean Monahan was also a plus-3 in the win. He has followed up a stellar rookie season with an even better sophomore start, putting up seven goals and five assists in 18 games. He has five points (four goals) in his last five games and is looking like one of the burgeoning fantasy centers in the NHL.

Flames' Monahan Letting The Good Times Roll

News: Sean Monahan found the net for his sixth goal of the season and added an assist in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Panthers.
Analysis: Sean Monahan has been the centerpiece of a productive Flames offense during wins in four of the team's last five games. During that span, he's contributed four goals and two assists, good for over half of his point production on the season. The 2013 first-round draft pick has lived up to his billing as a cornerstone-type player for the Flames and should be poised for an outstanding sophomore campaign.

Flames' Monahan Pots Another In Loss

News: Sean Monahan tallied a power-play goal in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Lightning.
Analysis: After a slow start to the season, Sean Monahan seems to have taken the mantle as the Flames' top playmaker, netting three goals and two assists over his last four contests. Monahan should be able to easily blow past the 34 points he compiled as a rookie.

Flames' Monahan Deposits OT Winner

News: Sean Monahan scored the game-winning goal in overtime Tuesday against the Caps.
Analysis: After a lucky bounce gave the Flames new life late in the third period, Sean Monahan ended up with a wide-open opportunity in the final minute of overtime, and he buried the game-winner past Braden Holtby for his fourth goal of the year. After a slow start, he's been warming to the task along with the rest of the Flames -- six of his eight points this season have come in the last six games.

Two Points For Flames' Monahan

News: Sean Monahan bagged a goal and assist in Friday's 4-3 win over the Predators.
Analysis: Both of Sean Monahan's points came on the power play and marked his first with the man advantage all season. The 20-year-old already looks like Calgary's top center, but with only six points in 12 games, he's well behind the scoring pace of the league's elite pivots.

Monahan Scores Two For Flames

News: Sean Monahan scored his first two goals of the year and went plus-2 in Thursday's 5-0 win over Carolina.
Analysis: He'd managed no goals and two assists over the first eight games of the year, so this represents a nice turnaround for Sean Monahan. The Flames are still giving him top-six minutes, so he'll have every chance to keep it going.

Flames' Monahan Has Assist In Opener

News: Despite nearly missing the game with an illness, Sean Monahan grabbed an assist in a 4-2 loss to Vancouver on Wednesday.
Analysis: Sean Monahan may have the most scoring ability of anyone in Calgary, and is off to a great start once again despite being sick. After scoring 22 goals last season and joining the first line to start the year, Monahan has a chance at putting up 50 points this season.

Flames' Monahan Takes Part In Warm-ups

News: Sean Monahan (illness) participated in pregame warm-ups Wednesday, Ben Kuzma of the Vancouver Province reports.

Flames' Monahan A Game-Time Decision Wednesday

News: Sean Monahan was out sick for Wednesday's morning skate and is questionable to play in the team's opener against the Canucks, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.
Analysis: After a 22-goal rookie campaign, Sean Monahan is set to open the season as the top-line center for the Flames. The bout with illness makes him a dicey play in daily or weekly formats, but his outlook remains shiny for season-long leagues, with his numbers likely to notice improvement across the board.
