Monahan Scores Two For Flames

News: Sean Monahan scored his first two goals of the year and went plus-2 in Thursday's 5-0 win over Carolina.
Analysis: He'd managed no goals and two assists over the first eight games of the year, so this represents a nice turnaround for Sean Monahan. The Flames are still giving him top-six minutes, so he'll have every chance to keep it going.

Flames' Monahan A Game-Time Decision Wednesday

News: Sean Monahan was out sick for Wednesday's morning skate and is questionable to play in the team's opener against the Canucks, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.
Analysis: After a 22-goal rookie campaign, Sean Monahan is set to open the season as the top-line center for the Flames. The bout with illness makes him a dicey play in daily or weekly formats, but his outlook remains shiny for season-long leagues, with his numbers likely to notice improvement across the board.

Flames' Monahan In Slump

News: Sean Monahan has played less than 10 minutes both of the last two games, the Calgary Herald reports.
Analysis: Sean Monahan was rolling until a foot injury cost him six games, and it's taking him some time to get back to that level. He also is merely 19 years old, and will go through these highs and lows as a rookie. While Monahan may not start scoring again at the pace he did to begin the season, he's too talented to not be getting double-digit minutes for long.

Flames' Monahan In Four-Game Slump

News: Sean Monahan hasn't scored in the last four games.

Flames' Monahan Scores Again

News: Sean Monahan scored a power-play goal Monday against the Kings.
Analysis: Sean Monahan now has six goals and nine points in eight games. That last number is worth noting, because there is still a question of whether or not the rookie will be sent down. Based on his play, his has earned the right to stay with the big league team, but you never know what financial decisions will play into this.
