Oilers Return Nurse To Junior Level

News: Darnell Nurse was returned to his junior team at OHL Sault Ste. Marie on Friday.
Analysis: Darnell Nurse served as a healthy scratch for the Oilers for the first two games of the season before cracking the lineup for a pair of contests earlier this week. The 19-year-old likely would have remained with the club had he thrived in his first taste of NHL action, but he failed to make much of an impact, logging no points, five hits and a minus-2 rating over those two games. He'll likely spend the duration of the season at the junior level, though the Oilers could consider bringing him back in the second half.

Oilers' Nurse To Make NHL Debut Tuesday

News: Coach Dallas Eakins confirmed that Darnell Nurse would be in the lineup Tuesday against the Kings, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
Analysis: The No. 7 overall pick of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Darnell Nurse had been a healthy scratch for the Oilers' first two games this season, but an injury to Jeff Petry will pave the way for him to make his NHL debut. It's unlikely that the Oilers will ask Nurse to be a direct replacement for Petry on the team's top pairing, so look for him to instead work in tandem with Mark Fayne.

Oilers' Nurse Day-To-Day

News: Darnell Nurse (undisclosed) is considered day-to-day, but could play Tuesday against the Kings.
Analysis: Darnell Nurse is apparently dealing with some sort of injury, but the fact that there's a chance he could play Tuesday indicates it's nothing serious. The 19-year-old is still waiting to make his NHL debut.

Oilers' Nurse To Sit Out Opener

News: Darnell Nurse will likely be a healthy scratch for Thursday's season opener against the Flames.
Analysis: With Nikita Nikitin (ankle) cleared to return to action Thursday, there won't be room for either Darnell Nurse and fellow blue line prospect Oscar Klefbom to slot into the lineup. Both youngsters would stand to benefit from playing regularly, so if Nurse continues to rot in the press box in the games to come, a demotion back to the minors would seem likely.

Oilers' Nurse Makes Final Roster

News: Darnell Nurse was added to Edmonton's final roster, Derek Van Diest of the Edmonton Sun reports.
Analysis: Darnell Nurse is only 19 and spent most of last season in juniors with OHL Sault Ste. Marie. He isn't expected to stay with the team very long and will probably go back to the OHL when Nikita Nikitin returns from injury. He won't have a big fantasy impact this year, but owners in keeper leagues should take a look at him.
