Blue Jackets Assign Rychel To AHL Springfield

News: The Blue Jackets assigned Kerby Rychel to AHL Springfield on Tuesday, Shawn Mitchell of The Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Rycel will head back to Springfield to open a roster spot for Fedor Tyutin, who was activated from injured reserve. Kerby Rychel tallied three assists in five games with the Blue Jackets and was the club's first-round pick last year, so he could return to Columbus at some point later this season.

Blue Jackets Recall Rychel

News: The Blue Jackets recalled Kerby Rychel from AHL Springfield on Friday.
Analysis: With Scott Hartnell out for two weeks with a broken finger, Kerby Rychel has been recalled by the Blue Jackets to provide some depth at left wing. Kerby has tallied three assists through four games with the Blue Jackets this season.

Jackets' Rychel Sent Back To AHL

News: Kerby Rychel was sent back to AHL Springfield on Wednesday, the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: With Brandon Dubinsky back in the lineup, the Blue Jackets didn't have room to keep Kerby Rychel around much longer. The rookie picked up three assists in four games, and is likely at the front of the line should the Jackets need another forward later on this season.

Jackets' Rychel A Healthy Scratch Tuesday

News: Kerby Rychel will be a healthy scratch Tuesday against the Flyers, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Kerby Rychel will sit for the first time since his Nov. 29 call-up with Brandon Dubinsky (abdominal strain) returning from IR to make his season debut. The 20-year-old winger impressed with three points in four games, but coach Todd Richards acknowledged he didn't want to drop him from the second line to the fourth line for Tuesday's game. If Rychel fails to crack the lineup in the team's subsequent games, he could be headed back to AHL Springfield.

Jackets' Rychel Nabs Two Helpers

News: Kerby Rychel was credited with the primary assist on goals by Cam Atkinson and Boone Jenner in Thursday's shootout victory over Florida.
Analysis: Solid work by Kerby Rychel, who now has three assists in his first three NHL games. The 2013 first-round pick has also laid seven hits. He's looking like an intriguing fantasy add for deeper formats.

Jackets' Rychel Picks Up First Point

News: Kerby Rychel assisted on Boone Jenner's game-winning goal in Monday's 2-1 victory over the Panthers.
Analysis: Congrats to the second-generation NHLer on his first NHL point. Kerby Rychel's physical play since his promotion has provided the Blue Jackets with a bit of a spark, so even when the roster gets healthier with Brandon Dubinsky's impending return, the 20-year-old might well stick around.

Blue Jackets Recall Rychel For First Time

News: The Blue Jackets recalled Kerby Rychel from AHL Springfield on Saturday, The Columbus Dispatch reports.
Analysis: Columbus has decided that Kerby Rychel, the 19th pick in the 2013 draft, is ready for ice time at the top level. It's not clear where he will slot in initially, but he could be a fantasy factor if he gets steady ice time, having tallied six goals, seven assists, and 30 PIM in 22 games with Springfield this season.

Jackets' Rychel Tallies Three Points In AHL Sunday

News: Kerby Rychel had a goal and two assists in AHL Springfield's victory over Bridgeport on Sunday.
Analysis: Kerby Rychel now has four goals and nine points in 17 games in his first professional season. He was a dominant scorer at the junior level, although his production is expected to be somewhat limited once he becomes an NHL regular. If Columbus can stay relatively injury-free, Rychel is probably looking at an entire season in the AHL.

Jackets' Rychel Among Cuts

News: Kerby Rychel was assigned to AHL Springfield on Monday, TSN.ca reports.
Analysis: A rash of injuries left a host of rookies competing for Opening Night roster spots, but the return of Ryan Johansen (contract dispute) probably pushed Kerby Rychel out of consideration. Rychel will thus begin his professional career at Springfield after compiling 18 goals and 33 assists over 31 games for the OHL's Guelph Storm in 2013-14.

Jackets' Rychel Makes Impression At Traverse

News: Kerby Rychel scored a goal and added three assists as the Blue Jackets' squad downed the Wild 6-4 in Friday's opener of the Traverse City prospect tournament.
Analysis: The Columbus team at this year's tournament is loaded with talent, headlined by 2013 first-round picks Kerby Rychel, Alexander Wennberg and Marko Dano. All three will likely spend most of the season in the AHL, but if Rychel plays well at Springfield, he could get called up when the Jackets need a little grit on the wing.
