Rangers Loan Duclair To Team Canada

News: The Rangers announced Tuesday that they would loan Anthony Duclair to Team Canada for the World Junior Championships, TSN's Bob McKenzie reports.
Analysis: While Anthony Duclair isn't going to be formally reassigned to his former QMJHL team, he won't count against the Rangers' 23-man active roster limit while he trains with Team Canada beginning Thursday in Toronto. The young winger has been a healthy scratch over the last handful of games for the Rangers, who decided Duclair would be best served by getting some needed ice time and development with the Canadian squad. Duclair figures to be one of the top offensive threats in the tournament before rejoining the Rangers at the conclusion of the WJC, which ends in early January.

Rangers' Duclair Out Of Lineup On Monday

News: Anthony Duclair will not play in the Rangers' game on Monday night against Tampa Bay, Jim Cerny of the Rangers official site reports.
Analysis: With the return of Chris Kreider to the lineup, J.T. Miller will take Anthony Duclair's place after Miller scored a goal against the Flyers on Saturday. Duclair has struggled to score points in recent games and hasn't recorded a point since November 23 against Montreal.

Rangers' Duclair Back On Scorer's Sheet

News: Anthony Duclair collected an assist in 13 minutes of ice time in Sunday's win over Montreal.
Analysis: It's the 19-year-old's first point since the organization decided against sending him back to juniors, a stretch of six games. Anthony Duclair, who logged nearly two minutes of power play time, also collected two penalty minutes after a scrum with Habs defenseman P.K. Subban. Currently, the rookie has more promise than points (7 points) and until something changes the status quo, will likely mire in bottom-six minutes.

Rangers' Duclair Will Return To Lineup On Monday

News: Anthony Duclair will return to the Rangers' lineup on Monday night against the Lightning, Jon Lane of NHL.com reports.
Analysis: Anthony Duclair has been a healthy scratch for the last three games the Rangers have played after failing to produce offensively. He started the season by scoring six points in his first nine games but has gone cold since. He will remain with the team for the rest of the season but if he does not pick up his play, he may see some more time as a healthy scratch.

Rangers' Duclair To Be Scratched Tuesday

News: Anthony Duclair will be a healthy scratch Tuesday against the Penguins, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.
Analysis: Anthony Duclair has gone cold over the Rangers' last three games, failing to record a point while attempting just two shots on goal. The team has committed to keeping him with the big club this season, so his absence from the lineup Tuesday isn't expected to develop into a trend. The newly recalled Jesper Fast will spell Duclair against the Penguins.

Duclair Celebrates With Assist In Rangers' Loss

News: Anthony Duclair registered an assist on the power play in Monday's 4-3 shootout loss to St. Louis.
Analysis: That's six points in the first nine games of his brief NHL career. Earlier today, the team waived Ryan Malone, pretty much ensuring The Duke will remain with the team rather than being sent back to Quebec of the QMJHL. Although Malone ended up playing in light of Mats Zuccarello's absence, it appears Anthony Duclair will be staying with the team for now. What line he will end up on once head coach Alain Vigneault stops the music on his line combos is the biggest question. Still, he's got a decent points-per-game ratio and he's ripe for the picking with the uncertainty behind him.

Duclair Nets First NHL Goal In Rangers' Comeback

News: Anthony Duclair scored the game-tying goal in Monday's 5-4 win over Minnesota.
Analysis: Remember this one, folks, as it's the young Quebec native's first career NHL goal. It was quite an impressive one, as Anthony Duclair took a long pass, skated down the wing and fired a shot that Darcy Kuemper couldn't handle. It couldn't have come at a better time for the team or the 19-year-old Duclair, who is nearing his nine-game limit before the organization has to decide if he'll be reassigned to the QMJHL. The highly regarded prospect now has five points in seven games despite averaging about 13 minutes of ice time in those contests.

Rangers' Duclair Likely Back In Saturday

News: Anthony Duclair practiced on the Rangers' third line Friday and appears set to return to the lineup Saturday against the Canadiens, Andrew Gross of the Bergen Record reports.
Analysis: A healthy scratch for the previous two games, Anthony Duclair will get another chance to state his case for remaining with the Rangers on Saturday. The 19-year-old was the talk of training camp and has contributed three assists in five games, but his effectiveness had started to wane prior to his pair of healthy scratches. Coach Alain Vigneault has vowed to keep Duclair among his top-nine forwards anytime he plays, but if the young phenom fails to take advantage of the opportunity in subsequent games, a demotion to his junior team, the QMJHL's Quebec Ramparts, could be in the offing.

Rangers' Duclair To Sit Again Tuesday

News: Anthony Duclair will be a healthy scratch Tuesday for the second consecutive game, Newsday's Steve Zipay reports.
Analysis: Though a repeat move to the press box would seem to foretell a demotion back to juniors for Anthony Duclair, coach Alain Vigneault said such a move wouldn't occur this week. Because Duclair isn't eligible to return to the Rangers this season once he's sent back to juniors, expect the team to wait a little longer on a decision than they did with fellow youngsters J.T. Miller and Jesper Fast, who were both AHL eligible. Even so, Duclair's chances of reemerging as a lineup regular this season are growing slim.

Rangers To Sit Duclair On Saturday

News: Anthony Duclair will be a healthy scratch Sunday against the Sharks, Steve Zipay of Newsday reports.
Analysis: Coach Alain Vigneault said that he just wanted to give the young forward a bit of a reprieve after Anthony Duclair had appeared in five games over the previous eight days. Duclair had been holding down a top-line role for the Rangers in the last handful of contests, but those duties will likely fall to Chris Kreider on Sunday.

Rangers' Duclair Joins First Line

News: Anthony Duclair registered an assist in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Islanders.
Analysis: Anthony Duclair not only played on the team's first line, but assisted on the second of Rick Nash's two goals. More encouraging is that Duke managed to register a plus-1 against the high-octane Isles offense and logged two-plus minutes on the man advantage. With three assists through his last three games, Duclair is certainly finding the scoreboard, but will it be enough to merit a long-term stay in the NHL? The Rangers have five more games to decide whether they'll send Duclair back to the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL.

Duclair To Play On Rangers' First Line?

News: Anthony Duclair skated on the first line alongside Rick Nash and Martin St. Louis at practice on Tuesday, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.
Analysis: Whether he actually lines up with that high-scoring duo on Tuesday night against the Islanders remains to be seen. Gross also later reported that Anthony Duclair spent time on the team's first power-play unit. Having spent most of his three NHL games on the third line, this is certainly a change of pace for the Quebec native, who had two assists in Saturday's loss to Columbus. With just six games left to decide if Duclair should be shipped back to the QMJHL, it appears head coach Alain Vigneault is going to give the 19-year-old a chance to sink or swim. That makes him worth a speculative pickup.

Rangers' Duclair Gets First Two NHL Points

News: Anthony Duclair recorded his first two NHL points in Saturday's 5-2 loss to Columbus. He set up both New York goals.
Analysis: He had an outstanding training camp and seems to have captured lightning in a bottle. There's still a chance he'll get the standard nine-game tryout before being sent down to junior, but it looks like the Rangers have found a gem in the third round (2013).

Rangers Keeping Duclair

News: Anthony Duclair will start the season on the Rangers roster, Steve Zipay of Newsday reports.
Analysis: Anthony Duclair has yet to make his professional debut, but was impressive in the preseason, and will get a shot to start the season on the NHL.

Rangers' Duclair Collects Pair of Points

News: Anthony Duclair registered a goal and an assist as well as five rips on net in Friday's preseason victory over Chicago.
Analysis: After burying a cross-ice pass from Rick Nash, the 19-year-old assisted on a J.T. Miller power-play goal. This is certainly big news for those owners who love the sleeper pick. You should, however, temper your expectations over a preseason game, his first at the NHL level. However, two points is nothing to dismiss on a team already missing one its top point-getters (Derek Stepan). If Anthony Duclair can continue the contributions, a minimum nine-game look could be likely for the QMJHL standout.
