Another Two-Point Game For Flames' Granlund

News: Markus Granlund delivered his second consecutive two-point game Tuesday against the Ducks, picking up two assists and going plus-3 with a pair of penalty minutes in a 4-3 shootout win.
Analysis: Don't look now, but the younger Markus Granlund brother has eight points in nine games with Calgary since being recalled from AHL Adirondack. With 46 points in 52 AHL games last year, the Finn's shown legitimate offensive upside in the North American game, and his early production this year should have fantasy owners running to the wire to check on his status.

Granlund's Two Points Power Flames To Victory

News: Markus Granlund netted a goal and an assist in Saturday's win over Ottawa.
Analysis: Markus Granlund continues to deliver this season, recording three goals and six points in eight games. Currently centering the second line, there is no reason the 21-year-old can't continue producing at the rate he is right now. He's worth a look in deeper formats.

Flames' Granlund On A Roll

News: Markus Granlund scored the game-tying goal in a 4-3 overtime victory over Washington on Tuesday.
Analysis: Markus Granlund has a point in each of his first three games, and is doing his best to make who to send back down when Matt Stajan gets healthy a difficult decision. In 10 career games, Granlund has six points, and he has a bright future.

Flames' Granlund Nets First Of Season

News: Markus Granlund scored his first goal of the season in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Canadiens.
Analysis: Filling in for the injured Matt Stajan, Markus Granlund now has a point in both of his appearances this season. The 21-year-old has showed some promise in his limited playing time, but he may not get a ton of time once some of his injured teammates return.

Flames' Granlund Recalled From AHL

News: Markus Granlund was recalled from AHL Adirondack on Wednesday, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The FAN reports.
Analysis: A knee injury will sideline Matt Stajan for approximately six weeks, opening the door for Markus Granlund to see his first extended run with the NHL club. Granlund, a second-round pick in 2011, has played in eight games with Adirondack this season, chipping in three goals, two assists and 10 penalty minutes.

Flames Assign Granlund To Minors

News: Markus Granlund was assigned to AHL Adirondack on Tuesday, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.
Analysis: A concussion suffered Sept. 27 sidelined Markus Granlund for the remainder of the Flames' preseason games thereafter, likely dashing his chances of staking a claim to a roster spot. On a positive note, he was able to get a skate in Monday, and the fact that he was assigned to the minors rather than injured reserve suggests he's been cleared for contact.

Flames' Granlund Skates

News: Markus Granlund (concussion) skated Monday, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 reports.
Analysis: Markus Granlund will still need to be cleared for contact before he can suit up for a game, but it looks like he's progressing. He collected two goals and an assist in seven games last season, and is expected to be a big part of an exciting young Flames team this season.

Flames' Granlund Dealing With Concussion

News: Markus Granlund is currently going through the NHL's concussion protocol, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The FAN reports.
Analysis: Markus Granlund suffered the injury Friday and has been held out since. It remains to be seen when he will play next, but he will need to be cleared to do so.

Flames' Granlund Out For Sunday

News: Markus Granlund will miss Sunday's preseason game with a suspected concussion, Scott Cruickshank of the Calgary Herald reports.
Analysis: Markus Granlund left Friday's game with an injury which the team now suspects is a concussion. The good news is that Granlund's shoulder did not flare back up, but obviously a concussion is never good. There's no timetable for his return at this point, but the center was a good candidate to make the team out of camp before suffering the injury.

Flames' Granlund Injured Friday

News: Markus Granlund (undisclosed) left in the second period of Friday's preseason game and did not return, the Calgary Herald reports.
Analysis: Markus Granlund is one of the brighter prospects the Flames have, as he was one of the top AHL players in Abbotsford last year and also had three points in seven games with Calgary. He struggled with a shoulder injury at the end of last season, so hopefully the injury is not to that shoulder again.
