Sharks Reassign Grosenick

News: Troy Grosenick has been reassigned to AHL Worcester.
Analysis: Called up to replace the injured Alex Stalock, Troy Grosenick got two starts while he was up, posting an impressive .948 save percentage, which was heavily weighted by a 45-save shutout in his debut. He landed on injured reserve soon thereafter, and with Stalock beating him back to the active roster, he'll have to resume duties back in Worcester now that he's healthy.

Sharks Place Grosenick On IR

News: Troy Grosenick (upper body) was placed on injured reserve over the weekend.
Analysis: The extent of Troy Grosenick's injury isn't fully known, but with Alex Stalock (knee) cleared to resume backup duties Saturday, the Sharks decided to drop Grosenick from their 23-man roster. He'll likely be sent out on a rehab assignment at AHL Worcester once he resumes on-ice activity, but will probably just end up sticking with Worcester thereafter with Antti Niemi and Stalock both healthy.

Sharks' Grosenick Dealing With Injury

News: Troy Grosenick is dealing with an undisclosed injury and isn't expected to be available for Wednesday's game against the Flames, Brodie Brazil of CSNBayArea.com reports.
Analysis: Troy Grosenick's injury was likely sustained at some point during practice over the last few days, as he had been cleared to serve as the Sharks' backup for each of the team's previous two games. With Alex Stalock (knee) still on injured reserve, San Jose will have to find an emergency option to slot in behind starting goalie Antti Niemi for Wednesday's game.

Sharks' Grosenick Downed By Sabres

News: Troy Grosenick faced only 13 shots Tuesday against Buffalo, but was tagged for three goals in the 4-1 loss.
Analysis: This was not the encore Troy Grosenick and the Sharks were looking for after he put up a 45-save shutout in his NHL debut, but it was certainly a dose of reality. Still, it's harsh to lose when you outshoot the opposition 30-13. That's now two straight games that he's started over Antti Niemi despite Niemi having played well in his last two starts; expect the Sharks' usual starter to be back out there Thursday when the Panthers come to town.

Sharks Go With Grosenick Again Tuesday

News: Troy Grosenick will be between the pipes for Tuesday's game against the Sabres.
Analysis: Troy Grosenick stood on his head in his NHL debut Sunday, shutting out the Hurricanes despite facing 45 shots. He should find things to be a little easier Tuesday facing a Buffalo team that is last in the league in both goals (1.47) and shots (23.6) per game.

Sharks' Grosenick Great In Debut

News: Troy Grosenick recorded 45 saves and recorded a shutout in Sunday's 2-0 win over the Hurricanes.
Analysis: Making his NHL debut with Alex Stalock on injured reserve and Antti Niemi getting a day off, Troy Grosenick was stellar in net as he stopped all 45 Hurricane shots. Despite the performance, he'll only see the occasional start before being sent back to the AHL when Stalock returns, but it was still an encouraging showing.

Sharks' Grosenick Will Start Sunday

News: Troy Grosenick will start in goal Sunday, Dan Rusanowksy of KFOX 98.5 FM reported on his podcast.
Analysis: Troy Grosenick was called up on Wednesday, and will get his first NHL start Sunday. In the AHL this season, Grosenick has posted a .908 save percentage in 10 games.

Sharks Recall Grosenick

News: Troy Grosenick was recalled from AHL Worcester on Wednesday.
Analysis: Alex Stalock's surprising placement on injured reserve will result in Troy Grosenick's first promotion to the NHL level. The 25-year-old didn't post especially impressive numbers in his 10 games with Worcester (2.73 GAA, .908 save percentage) and will see scare playing time, if any, behind starter Antti Niemi. The Sharks haven't isused a return timetable for Stalock, but the goalie is technically eligible for activation from IR as soon as Sunday, which could make Grosenick's stay with the Sharks a short one.

Sharks Reassign Grosenick

News: Troy Grosenick has been reassigned by the Sharks to the AHL.
Analysis: Troy Grosenick's reassignment isn't a surprise. The battle for the starting job in San Jose was always between Alex Stalock and Antti Niemi.

Grosenick Stops 30 For SJ In Scrimmage Loss

News: Troy Grosenick got the start in the Sharks' second prospect scrimmage against Anaheim. He stopped 30 of 32 shots in a 2-0 loss.
Analysis: Troy Grosenick will start the year with AHL Worcester and will battle J.P. Anderson for minutes in net there. Should an injury occur or should San Jose trade Antti Niemi — there's been much speculation on that front — the battle for minutes between Anderson and Grosenick would gain significance as it's not 100% clear who is third in line on the depth chart. For now, his significance to most fantasy formats is nil, though Sunday's performance is a step toward being number three on for the Sharks.
