Preds' Jarnkrok Likely In Saturday

News: Calle Jarnkrok (illness) appears set to play Saturday against the Stars.
Analysis: Calle Jarnkrok missed Friday's practice with an illness, but since coach Peter Laviolette didn't list him as one of the several regulars who will sit out Saturday, it's probably safe to rule the forward in the lineup. He's expected to center the Preds' third line.

Preds' Jarnkrok Misses Practice With Illness

News: Calle Jarnkrok missed Friday's practice due to an illness.
Analysis: The Predators don't seem to be concerned about the illness, so Calle Jarnkrok could still have a shot at playing Saturday in Dallas. He'll be reevaluated Saturday morning before a decision on his availability is rendered.

Preds' Jarnkrok Notches Assist

News: Calle Jarnkrok assisted on Mike Santorelli's game-winning goal in Thursday's win over the Lightning.
Analysis: Calle Jarnkrok has just 16 points in 67 games so far this season, and is frequently a healthy scratch, so he doesn't offer much fantasy value outside of ultra-deep leagues.

Preds' Jarnkrok Benched

News: Calle Jarnkrok was a healthy scratch for Monday's game against the Coyotes.
Analysis: This was the third time in the past nine games Calle Jarnkrok has watched from the pressbox. Until he earns himself a regular spot in the Preds' lineup, feel free to find a suitable replacement for him on your fantasy roster.

Preds' Jarnkrok Finds Twine In Victory

News: Calle Jarnkrok found the net on of his four shots in Tuesday's win over the Avalanche.
Analysis: It was an excellent performance for Calle Jarnkrok after coach Peter Laviolette had made him a healthy scratch for the Preds' previous game against the Sabres over the weekend. The 23-year-old has served as the team's third-line pivot for much of the season, notching 15 points and a plus-6 rating over 56 games.

Preds' Jarnkrok Adds Assist In Loss To Blues

News: Calle Jarnkrok picked up an assist in 11:59 of ice time during Thursday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Blues.
Analysis: Calle Jarnkrok now has 13 points in his first full season with the Preds, and should finish with 20-25 points given his current pace. Not bad, considering he centers the Preds' third line in between Matt Cullen and Gabriel Bourque. He continues to represent decent value in deeper fantasy formats.

Preds' Jarnkrok Claims Fifth Goal

News: Calle Jarnkrok netted the game-winning goal Saturday afternoon against the Wild.
Analysis: The youngster's play has improved since October -- when he failed to register a single point -- but his overall total of 11 points in 37 games isn't particularly notable. He looks like he could be a key contributor for the Predators down the road, though don't expect him to provide much more than the occasional flash of that potential this season.

Two-Point Evening For Preds' Jarnkrok

News: Calle Jarnkrok scored a goal and tacked on an assist, and he finished plus-1 for the third consecutive game in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to Boston.
Analysis: Calle Jarnkrok hasn't been doing a lot of shooting -- he's put just one puck on net in each of the last three contests -- but he's seeing some goals start to fall in and contributing decent plus-minus. His appeal still remains largely limited to keeper formats, though.

Rare Point For Preds' Jarnkrok

News: Calle Jarnkrok scored a goal in just 7:43 of ice time during Saturday's 6-5 OT win over Minnesota.
Analysis: Calle Jarnkrok, who normally skates on the Preds' third line, has been seeing fourth line duty of late, drastically reducing his already-limited fantasy appeal. He does not warrant much fantasy attention outside of ultra-deep leagues.

Preds' Jarnkrok Breaks Through Tuesday

News: Calle Jarnkrok scored his first goal of the season, added his second assist of the year and went plus-3 in Tuesday's win over the Leafs.
Analysis: Even better, he won 10 out of 15 faceoffs, his fourth consecutive game on the positive side of that ledger. Calle Jarnkrok skated nearly 17 minutes Tuesday, easily a season high, but doesn't project to see such heavy time on most nights, as the Preds generally rely heavily on their top line.

Preds' Jarnkrok Working On Faceoff Skills

News: Calle Jarnkrok has been working on taking faceoffs with teammate Paul Gaustad, Maren Angus of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Calle Jarnkrok hasn't done much on the scoresheet this season - just a single point after assisting on Craig Smith's game-winning goal Saturday against the Jets - so fantasy owners in deep leagues are going to need him to contribute in any way he can. The good news is, Gaustad is widely regarded as one of the best faceoff men in the game, and the results of his mentoring are starting to show; Jarnkrok won 70% of his faceoffs against the Jets, and 83% the game before that against the Blues. Overall, the young Swede doesn't offer much fantasy value at the current time, but if your league counts faceoff win percent, Jarnkrok's numbers are certainly on the rise.

Preds' Jarnkrok To Play Thursday

News: Calle Jarnkrok (upper body) will return to the lineup Thursday against the Stars, Eric Stromgren of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Calle Jarnkrok, who had missed the Predators' previous four games with the injury, will center the third line. The youngster is still looking for his first point of the season and could be at risk for a demotion to AHL Milwaukee if he doesn't pick up his production in the next few games.

Preds' Jarnkrok Out With Injury Wednesday

News: Calle Jarnkrok has been ruled out of Wednesday's game against the Oilers due to an upper-body injury, Eric Stromgren of The Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Calle Jarnkrok still managed to skate with the Predators at their morning session, so it doesn't sound like a long-term absence is in the picture. The young center may have to worry about a possible demotion to the AHL, however, after failing to provide a point in the Preds' first eight games.

Preds' Jarnkrok Struggling To Add Offense

News: Calle Jarnkrok was held off the scoresheet for the sixth consecutive game Tuesday against the Coyotes.
Analysis: Calle Jarnkrok has a boatload of offensive talent, but is having a hard time realizing it while skating on the Preds' third line with Olli Jokinen and Viktor Stalberg. The best fantasy owners can probably hope for is for Jarnkrok to receive a promotion to a scoring line, however the team is deep at center with Mike Ribeiro and Derek Roy anchoring the top two lines. Furthermore, the roster will soon become even more crowded down the middle with Mike Fisher (Achilles) due back in late November. Jarnkrok owners may want to start looking around for viable alternatives.

Preds Using Jarnkrok On Third Line In Preseason

News: Calle Jarnkrok saw 13:07 worth of ice time during Monday's preseason loss to the Blue Jackets. He skated primarily on the Preds' third line with Craig Smith and Taylor Beck.
Analysis: Following his acquisition from Detroit in the David Legwand deal last season, Calle Jarnkrok chipped in nine points over 12 games down the stretch, including three points in the season finale against Minnesota. He projects as a solid playmaking center with excellent puck control who can play on either of the team's top two lines. However, the Preds are now stacked down the middle, so Jarnkrok will either start the season on one of the team's checking lines, or wind up back in the AHL. For those of you in deeper leagues, don't go drafting him until you know where he's going to be once the puck drops on opening night.
