Bruins Transfer Miller To LTIR

News: Kevan Miller (shoulder) was transferred to long-term injured reserve Thursday, the Boston Herald reports.
Analysis: Kevan Miller has been ruled out for the season after undergoing shoulder surgery, but by placing him on long-term injured reserve, the Bruins will be able to remove his salary from the team's cap. That extra financial flexibility should prove helpful prior to the Mar. 2 trade deadline, where the Bruins should be active.

Bruins' Miller Done For Season

News: GM Peter Chiarelli announced Saturday that Kevan Miller is slated to undergo season-ending shoulder surgery, the Bruins' official site reports.
Analysis: Kevan Miller, who suffered a dislocated right shoulder Monday against the Flames, thus concludes his 2014-15 campaign with two goals and five assists in 41 games, to go along with a team-best plus-20 rating. Though Miller doesn't offer much upside on offense, his absence moving forward represents a significant hit to the depth of the Bruins' blue line corps down the stretch. With Miller unavailable, look for Matt Bartkowski -- previously a frequent healthy scratch by the team -- to remain in the B's lineup.

Bruins' Miller Dealing With Shoulder Issue

News: Coach Claude Julien has relayed concerns with regard to the status of Kevan Miller, who re-injured his right shoulder Monday, the Bruins' official site reports. "All I can tell you right now is it's not looking good, as far as his situation is," said Julien. "I don't know what the final prognosis is, but it's not looking good."
Analysis: Per the report, Kevan Miller, who was placed on IR on Thursday, has seen various specialists this week, but based on Julien's comments, it sounds like the blueliner could miss extended time. With Miller unavailable, Matt Bartkowski -- who had been a regular healthy scratch prior to Miller's injury -- is a candidate to remain in the Bruins' lineup moving forward.

Bruins' Miller Lands On IR

News: The Bruins placed Kevan Miller on injured reserve Thursday, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Kevan Miller, who flew back to Boston on Tuesday to have his balky shoulder evaluated, has already been ruled out through Sunday and it's quite possible that he'll miss time beyond that. Though the rugged blueliner has just seven points in 41 games to date, he tops the Bruins with a plus-20 rating.

Bruins' Miller Injures Shoulder

News: Kevan Miller re-injured his shoulder Monday against the Flames.
Analysis: Kevan Miller flew back to Boston on Tuesday to be evaluated, with the report indicating that he will not be playing on the rest of the Bruins' current road trip, which concludes Sunday in Chicago. Miller's injury will likely result in Matt Bartkowski remaining in the B's lineup for the time being.

Bruins' Miller Injures Hand

News: Kevan Miller suffered a right hand injury during Monday's game against Calgary, and Bruins coach Claude Julien said afterward that it "doesn't look good," the Boston Herald reports.
Analysis: With the injury caused by a high stick, it's possible that Kevan Miller suffered a broken hand. He hasn't been ruled out beyond Monday, but Julien's pessimism isn't a good sign for the blueliner.

Bruins' Miller Exits Early Monday

News: Kevan Miller was hit with a high stick during Monday's game against the Flames and will not return to the ice.
Analysis: Kevan Miller should be considered day-to-day until further news is released by the Bruins. Looking ahead, his status for Wednesday's game against the Oilers is up in the air.

Bruins' Miller Notches Assist

News: Kevan Miller notched an assist in 14:45 worth of ice time in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Lightning.
Analysis: Kevan Miller, who recorded a plus-3 mark on Tuesday, provides the Bruins with sturdy positional play on the team's blue line, but with four points and 13 PIM in 29 games to date, his fantasy upside is modest.

Miller Returns To Bruins' Lineup

News: Kevan Miller (undisclosed injury) saw 18 minutes worth of ice time in Tuesday's loss to the Kings.
Analysis: Though Kevan Miller's return is a welcome addition to the Bruins' blue line mix, he has yet to record a point in 11 games thus far and with just seven PIM to his credit, he's off the fantasy radar.

Bruins' Miller Appears Likely To Play Tuesday

News: Kevan Miller (undisclosed) is expected to play Tuesday versus the Kings, Joe Haggerty of CSN New England reports.
Analysis: Coach Claude Julien said Kevan Miller was held out of Monday's game versus the Ducks as a "coach's decision," done mostly in an effort to give the defenseman a chance to recover from whatever has been ailing him. With the Bruins likely looking to relieve some of their defensemen for the second game of their back-to-back set, Miller could be tapped to replace Zach Trotman or Matt Bartkowski.

Bruins' Miller Steps Back In Tuesday

News: Kevan Miller (undisclosed) was on the ice for pregame warmups and appears set to play Tuesday against the Kings, Amalie Benjamin of the Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: As coach Claude Julien seemingly suggested when he met with reporters earlier in the day, Kevan Miller's absence from Monday's game against the Ducks seems to have been purely out of precautionary purposes. Miller will enter Tuesday's tilt searching for his first point after being held off the score sheet in his previous 10 appearances this season.

Bruins' Miller Practices

News: Kevan Miller (unspecified issue) returned to practice Sunday.
Analysis: Kevan Miller, who skated on a defensive pairing with Dennis Seidenberg on Sunday, thus appears on track to be available for Monday's game against the Ducks.

Bruins' Miller Misses Practice

News: Kevan Miller (unspecified reason) was not on the ice for Saturday's practice.
Analysis: Meanwhile, the Bruins recalled fellow defenseman Zach Trotman from the AHL on an emergency basis, which suggests that Kevan Miller may be dealing with an injury or illness after seeing 19:02 worth of ice time Friday against the Jets.

Bruins' Miller Returns

News: Kevan Miller (upper body) saw 20:32 worth of ice time in Friday's shootout win over Columbus.
Analysis: It was Kevan Miller's first game back since dislocating his shoulder on Oct. 18, and with Adam McQuaid the latest Boston blueliner to be sidelined, Miller -- who has yet to has yet to record a point in seven games this season -- figures to be a fixture in the Bruins' lineup in the coming weeks.

Bruins' Miller (Upper Body) Returns Friday

News: Kevan Miller (upper body) will return to the lineup Friday against the Blue Jackets.
Analysis: Kevan Miller was expected to return to the lineup for the first time since dislocating his shoulder Oct. 18 against the Sabres, and now that appears to be official. He should slot back in alongside Torey Krug in the second defensive pairing.

Bruins' Miller Likely To Return Friday

News: Kevan Miller (upper body) is expected to return to the lineup Friday against the Blue Jackets, Fluto Shinzawa of the Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: Kevan Miller has been out of the lineup since Oct. 18 with the upper-body injury, but his activation from IR earlier this week suggests the Bruins feel he's ready to go. While not much of a fantasy asset from the blue line, his return will be welcomed after Adam McQuaid was recently ruled out for six-to-eight weeks with a broken thumb.

Bruins' Miller Remains Out Tuesday

News: Kevan Miller (upper body) looks like he'll remain out of the lineup Tuesday against the Blues, Amalie Benjamin of the Boston Globe reports.
Analysis: Kevan Miller was activated from IR earlier in the day, but was skating as an extra defenseman during the pregame warmups, signaling he won't be returning Tuesday. The Bruins seem convinced that Miller is healthy and may just be taking precaution by having him sit out an extra game, but it's expected that he'll return to a regular role before the end of the week. Miller would likely displace Matt Bartkowski from the lineup.

Bruins Activate Miller

News: Kevan Miller (upper body) was activated from injured reserve Tuesday against the Blues.
Analysis: After the team's morning skate, coach Claude Julien said Kevan Miller was a game-time decision, so his activation would seem to bode well for his chances of playing Tuesday. He'll skate during pregame warmups, and if the Bruins have even the tiniest bit of concern about using him, Miller will simply be scratched and plan for a return to action Friday against the Blue Jackets.

Bruins' Miller: Game-Time Call Tuesday

News: Kevan Miller (upper body) will be a game-time decision for Tuesday's game against the Blues.
Analysis: Kevan Miller will take part in pregame warmups, and a decision on his availability will be made based on how he feels while skating. The Bruins will need to make a roster move to activate Miller from injured reserve, so expect his status to be updated if it turns out he will play Tuesday night.

Bruins' Miller Cleared

News: Kevan Miller (upper body) has been cleared to play.
Analysis: Even though he's been cleared for contact, Kevan Miller remains a game time decision for Tuesday's game against the Blues since his conditioning might not be up to par after missing so much time.

Bruins' Miller Won't Play

News: Kevan Miller (upper body) will not return to action Saturday against the Hurricanes, CSNNE.com's Joe Haggerty reports.
Analysis: It seems the Bruins are viewing Kevan Miller as close to returning after he traveled with the team on their two-game road swing a few days ago, but he's still waiting to receive clearance to take part in full-contact practices. That could happen within the next couple days if Miller continues to progress well.

Bruins' Miller Will Travel With Team

News: Kevan Miller (upper body) will travel with the Bruins on their road back-to-back beginning Wednesday in Toronto.
Analysis: Kevan Miller hasn't been cleared to absorb full contact just yet, which will keep him out of action until at least the weekend. On a positive note, coach Claude Julien noted that Miller is making progress with each passing day, so it would appear the Bruins are treating him as day-to-day at this stage.

Bruins' Miller Progressing

Bruins' Miller To Resume Skating Monday

News: Kevan Miller (upper body) will resume skating Monday, Amalie Benjamin of The Boston Globe reports.

Bruins' Miller Still Sidelined

News: GM Peter Chiarelli indicated Friday that Kevan Miller (dislocated right shoulder) is progressing.
Analysis: That said, there is no timetable yet for Kevan Miller's return to action and with Zdeno Chara out 4-6 weeks with a knee injury, the Bruins have added blue line depth by recalling Joe Morrow and Zach Trotman from AHL Providence. Miller and Chara have been placed on injured reserve.
